I know you think you know what happens from this trailer. But you can't. I rewatched the entire movie right after watching it the first time. Amazing. So well done. I can't imagine how anyone could be disappointed.

The brother died in the car accident they all got in. The living brother was obviously traumatized like crazy from the accident and losing his brother that he became mentally ill. The mom is traumatized also obviously and not herself either but the living brother has been talking to himself the entire film. He thinks the moms an imposter and trying to break him and his brother apart but she’s not because he’s dead. The mom can never guess the answers right because the kid is pulling answers out of thin air thinking he’s talking to his brother. The delusions of his dead brother put it into his head that the mom is an imposter but she’s recovering from the accident,lost one of her sons, and is dealing with a sick son that survived. I only watched the original though so I don’t know if the movies are exactly the same. I could be wrong also but I think that’s what happened. I started to have that feeling that something was wrong with one of the brothers because one of them basically called the shots and he looked like he was enjoying torturing the mom.

Is it me, or is the black lady cop the most endearing person ever? She reminds me of my foster mom. Even though I'm in my forties, me and my foster mom are in contact to this day. I spend Christmas over there, I just always knew I could go to her, and the black woman cop in this movie kind of reminds me of her

I saw the American version of Funny Games not realizing it was a remake and then after watching the original it was hard for me to get over how good of a role Michael Pitt did just bc he looks so much more innocent. The remake was better I don't care what people say.
This is definitely the best movie I seen… ever. And it shows you how people take grief seriously and differently
There are thousands of other movies. Impossible to call this one the best out of all the thousands.

What does "severly underrated" even mean?
She's nominated for 2 Oscars and has another 60 award wins & 94 award nominations according to imdb. She's been working in the industry for decades and is pretty much A-list. Where's the underrating here?
Naomi Watts has actually been rated quite highly since Mulholland Drive and that came out in 2001.
The story and characters are going to have to be superb considering most people already know what the twist is. Nothing worse than waiting for the twist to happen when you already know it and the story is dragging.
Idk what the twist is and I'm watching right now. First time I've started watching a movie without reading reviews ..two mins into it I decided I better read reviews 🤷🏻♀️ Kids have a cell phone 🤳🏽 but didn't bother to call dad after they walked into a boat load of weirdness sounds bad 🤦🏻♀️ (edit: this flick turned out to be surprisingly GOOD 👍🏼💯💖) Didn't see that ending coming😂)

I may end up checking it out if I have nothing else to do, I just hope maybe they made some changes from the original so it will be something of a surprise.

Hi there, just saw the movie, I kinda still don’t get what happened to the brother..? In the movie it insinuates she killed him right?, but why does he come back after he burned the barn down?
Someone didn’t tell Jeff Bezos that Americanized remakes of critically acclaimed foreign films is no longer needed in 2022.
It’s only unnecessary if it fails to be entertaining, just like any other film. Also, for all the critical acclaim, I had no idea this was a remake. I also had no idea that Jeff Bezos had any say about what Amazon Prime video decides to greenlit. He’s also stepped down as CEO last year.

Naomi is so so so underrated! Her acting is never bad or even mediocre. She's always giving it her all. That said this looks great! I"ll sub to prime for a month to watch this, more than likely.
Just go watch the original movie from 2014, Australian. Same title. Good movie. It looks like it's frame by frame exactly made. Maybe tiny little touched ups.

The og is one of my faves but Naomi Watts never disappoints when it comes to horror so I’ll be watching:)

Yes everything about this remake is unneeded but also? It doesn’t evoke the same fear that the original trailer for goodnight mommy gave me… there’s something about hearing the mother talk in this trailer that takes away from the nightmare fuel.
Naomi's voice does NOT invoke fear period.
I think that's unfortunately what they was going for? The whole movie gets explained at the end, no stone left unturned. Why have the mother even remotely scary if you're going to show her to be a good guy at the end

I'll give it a try. The original was phenomenal and that ending will forever haunt me. I hope they add something new to this one.

@@phillydrama7463 The mother was trying to show Elias the blood in the shed and make him realize he accidentally shot his brother. Lucas had been dead the whole movie. Elias was hallucinating or imagining he was there. It was his way of coping with his death. That’s why if you look back, you can see the mother never interacts with Lucas. The mother appearing with Lucas in the end is him hallucinating again. He just killed her.

Judging by the trailer the original film is a lot creepier. I remember the trailer for the original one terrified me before I even watched the film. This trailer didn’t quite get me like the old one did.

Why the mask though? It’s not nearly as unsettling as the gauze, and the gauze totally changed the look and hid her real face, like this is just a thin mask and you can see exactly what’s going on under it, also why bother making a remake 7 years after the original? I’ll just rewatch that one
The original’s great and the twist is really good.
I love Naomi Watts, Homelander’s kid doesn’t do much in The Boys, so IDK how he’ll be. If this becomes the US version similar to Let Me In, then it’ll be a great watch for those who haven’t seen the original.

Naomi Watts, an incredibly talented actor, yet so underrated! she was amazing in Mullholland drive, the impossible! she deserved an oscar already.

I'm in the middle. I don't think that kids very good. Especially doubles, but Naomi saves it and it's basically the same house. But still. The original was way scarier and didn't reveal so much about the mother in the trailer!
Idk I just watched the original and while it’s really good the kids have like 0 acting range the entire movie. American remakes definitely have their drawbacks but at least these child actors are able to act better.

I figured out the twist in the middle part of the movie. There's just something not adding up especially about the treatment towards the other twin. And why only one gift for the both of them right? This movie is great and will have you thinking. Such a brilliant work! 💯

Americans read subtitles idiot! This is about making money. With a streaming service people have the ability to put subtitles in and you haven't seen the movie to judge it!
Agreed plus, the original is one of the movies with the least amount of dialogue in it I've ever seen anyway! There are hardly any subtitles to "inconvenience" people not wanting to read.
Well I watched it and it kept me interested until the end ..So therefore it's a good movie ..The wee boys acting is excellent..

The movie was so tricky, i had to rewatch it after i just finished, and make sure how she was to talking only to ELIAS and not LUCAS 😅 . and i gota give it to Lucas, he was so good at trying to fool us in the first half, pretending he's real and answering mom's questions 😂

i know of the original, but have never seen it. i saw this free on prime and decided to watch it because i've heard how great the original one is, and wanted to get the gist of the plot and everything. obviously can't compare it to the original, but i thought this movie was very good. the ending made me cry like a baby.
If you watch the original, you will feel anxiety and anger.
I haven't seen this one but I sure as hell didn't cry when watching the original. It was straight up fear.

I just watched this trailer right after watching the original movie in 2014.
(SPOILER ALERT)
I started noticing the twist when Elias sneaked into the barn, and also due to the fact no one ever talked to Lucas but Elias himself.
Oh, and also the scene where
the twins sneaked into their mother's room, but we never got to see where Lucas hid.

Just watched it and figured out the plot within the first 15 minutes and I'm not saying im somekind of genius or anything as it was painfully obvious what the plot was very quickly.
The Austrian version isn't that obvious, it's sooooo much better.

I've seen both this evening. And in constrast to the general consensus, I'll say I prefer the American version. It's more intriguing and mysterious. You don't know what to expect with everyone's identities. The original one is more bizarre and definitely leaning towards true horror.
The American throws the shade towards the mother and you care about the twins and the original presents us with really twisted fucked up twins and makes you care about the mother.
I'd say if you're in the mood for something more sanitized, on the mystery side, go for the American. If you are up for twisted horror, go for the German (Austrian?) one. I was in the mood for mystery today and watching the original after the American remake really caught me off guard.
Both are good films, in spite of people shitting on the remake for some reason.

Huge fan of the original, yet I have no problem given this version a chance, specially when Naomi Watts is playing the mother, I can't think of a more perfect casting choice for this role.

I wonder if it’ll be as telegraphed as the original. I hated that the twist was easy predict 10 minutes into the movie and that the film never tries to convince you otherwise.

When I saw the name Naomi Watts, I wanted to watch the movie but I got bored watching, then came the climax which took the movie to another level. I literally cried watching the climax. Naomi never disappoints her fans! 👍🏾

I really liked the original one
at first, I thought this movie was a letdown, I mean yeah there is only so much that can be done with it if you know the twist, but I kind of liked how they made it that it could just be that the mom is insane, and does not acknowledge the second twin because she is jealous and irrational about the twin's bond, I also liked how they changed the ending a bit, and left the door open for a sequel, even though it is unlikely due to low ratings, I wish they would have let the twins explore and play more as they did in the original, it kind of sucked some of the fun out of it, but I guess like I said the mom keeping them trapped in the house, and not allowing them to make any noise kept up the idea that the mom is irrational.
I hope I don’t regret watching this 🙄✌🏾

really good movie. at first i thought the twist would be that Lukas is the true villain and is turning Elias against his mom to have him to himself. then i thought Lukas was Elia's entirely imaginary friend, not his dead twin.
but the real twist was still good.
