I'd be crippled by my neck and back injuries if it weren't for my monthly chiropractor visits. One time I went 8 months without, I could hardly walk and eventually my arms were in so much pain I couldn't use them for a whole month. When I finally got adjusted, my whole body went back to normal. I get very tired from the adjustments too, but I think emotional stress builds up in the spine as physical tension, and the sudden release expels all that tension. I've learned that emotional tension directly manifests as physical tension.
Hi Tim, talk it through with your chiropractor. Often a change in technique or exercises can improve things. If that doesn't work, change chiropractors.
I just had this as well but it wasn't uncomfortable. I just felt like a bowel movement which I rarely get. But he told me I will Def be sore tomorrow so I'm a little worried which brought me here lol
Hopefully the discomfort should settle in a few days. Tell your chiropractors so they can make any changes to the treatment to lessen the chances of it happening again
I just went to the chiropractor for the first time in over a year almost 2. That night, my middle back had a sharp pain. When I woke up the next day I felt like I was hit by a truck. Body aches and a terrible fever.
Hi Alexis, soreness in the areas treated is common after chiropractic treatment but that will wear off in a day or two. Any fever and body aches are not a side effect of treatment but more likely an unrelated infection. Get well soon
I recently experienced something similar. I was told that adjustments can sometimes release stored toxins/trauma…and once released into the bloodstream flu-like symptoms appear.
No it is not normal but the arm numbness may not be due to the treatment. I suggest contacting your chiropractor and asking their opinion. They may want to examine you to figure out what is going on.
Oh dear Kimberly. Sorry to hear that. Have a chat with your chiropractor to see if they can make the treatment more gentle. There are lots of things we can do
I never had an adjustment done ever and went to chiropractor for the 1st time after a car accident. First couple of sessions had no pain, felt good. You'll think it's promising lol It took a good month to actually feel the spine soreness. I'm in the middle of spine soreness phase. Lol let me tell you, it feels like my spine is warming up but not hot. Just warm. And feels like someone put a metal rod along my spine to keep it upward. If you stay stationary, like sitting down and laying down, it makes it uncomfortable when you're ready to move.
I think so. I did the same and third day my neck is hurting. And I didn't even want a neck adjustment, I wanted an exam and x rays and a diagnosis etc, info and advice, he said lay on your back, I asked what he was planning on doing, he said "were gonna stretch your muscles" he fluffed my shoulders twice if thrice, not stretching anything, and flipped me face up, and grabbed my head, and said breathe out, or whatever, and before I could think to say no, he adjusted "' my neck, smh. This was after I told him I thought I had cervical instability, and a rotated atlas c1 vertebrae, and pain and stiffness in my neck waking up in the morning. And then he couldn't wait to get out of the room, I was asking questions as he was walking out the door basically, and he didn't give me any advice, what to do or not to do, to ice it after, not do strain it or over exert etc. Smh. They want your 💰 they don't care if they cause you to die or become paralyzed or have a stroke! Now I have to worry for a month if he maybe dissected my vertebral artery and maybe I'll have an ischemic stroke now. I'm taking a daily aspirin, half a 325 mg in morning and night just in case. Smh I was going to specifically mention that I didn't want a neck adjustment right off the bat but he was rushing the conversation and process so fast I forgot it didn't get a chance to tell him, then he surprised me. I told him I wanted x rays cause the old ones were two or three years old, smh. Go to a real doctor or physical therapist.
Hi, i totally agreed with what you had mentioned. In Malaysia, Chinese Medicine physicians are actually allowed to perform chiropractic adjustment, of course with proper training from a mentor and examination. We always inform patients sometimes their body might feel sore after their first adjustment, some people buy it and some doesn't. We do include acupuncture after adjustment to relief some of the stiff muscles. In hoping to get some enlightenment from you doctor, i have had two severe scoliosis patients that curvature is more than 30° felt very sore after their adjustment, whatelse can we ask patients to do other than hot compression or supplement? Perhaps lighter maneuver? In your opinion what can i do to improve their situation?
Although I can't advise without seeing the patients, def consider lighter treatments on a big scoliosis if what you are doing causes a lot of soreness. BTW chiropractic is a profession not a type of treatment, so technically only chiropractors can give a chiropractic adjustment. If a non-chiropractor uses manipulation, it is described as manipulation or mobilisation..
I felt worse after, fantastic now

I’m nearly 2 months in to my treatment plan and I feel worse than when I started

Hello! I've had two adjustments and I now have arm numbness which I never had before. Is this normal?

I had my second one yesterday but I felt like I was going to pass out.
