For those that wanted independent verification of the strength of this build, I switched from ball lightning to this exact build within the last 48 hours. Followed all recommendations exactly including where to put aspects and using blue rose not x-fal, exact same paragon boards I waited to switch until all glyphs were level 21. Beat Lilith with build on third attempt, it took me 50 attempts with ball lightning for comparison. Even with the obvious learning curve knowing what to expect, no question she was easier to beat just took a little longer, but you don't feel like you are going to get one shot any second. This character does not die, very smooth, no mana issues it is CHILL. Easy kills on all other uber bosses. easy walkthrough on NM 100. I had good rolled gear at the start and had saved ice spike/frozen aspects from farming with ball lightning, so from min/max estimate my character is at 90% full power, I can still get higher rolls on god slayer helm, eso boots etc. (or find a shako!) I LOVE THIS BUILD best one yet for me in D4, thanks again to Ultrarunna!!

Thanks again Ultra! I recall having 25-30 extra paragon points left over from the board shown in the video, everyone can choose where to put the extra points. For me, I went back to the starter board to add the extra life, and I also chose some elite damage nodes thinking this build was "way behind" ball lightning, but doesn't feel that way now. With leftover points, I searched to max out all skills within each glyph range to make them as powerful as possible, i spent a handful of points this way there are some nodes to pick up in some of the ranges to max glyph power (for example, filled another INT node in a glyph based on INT in the expanded range). My last few points addressed my own lightning resistance need with nothing rolled on my gear to account for it.
Ball Lightning is bugged, overpowered, but most importantly boring to play anyway. Blizzard Sorc or Conjuration Sorc or Meteor Sorc is much more fun in my opinion.
For more confirmation, THIS BUILD IS S+ TIER. I started with ball lightning and loved it, I had my heart set on a cold build though, blizzard being my favored skill.. It does not disappoint, I had most gear before switching, minus uniques, and just waited until level 80 for uniques. Took little time to get used to rotation, and little time to figure out how to stay alive, its tanky for a sorc build. Along with CC, its by far more satisfying for me personally. Appreciate the feedback and I’ll pin this and maybe more people will see your comment. This build is fantastic for 99.9% of Diablo 4 but I’ve seen its max potential around lvl 9 of AoZ. Only one sorceress build can push higher in AoZ and that’s BL which can go to around Tier 15-17

Another nice build from you keep it up!! If I had to same one thing I think these guides need it would be showing Best in slot affixes if you aren't using uniques. New people or people that just don't have a clue how to min/max will not have no where close to the same build if they are running 4 affixes that don't even pertain to the build. Most people I know just throw on an item but have no clue about the scaling and are first to say someones build guide suck and then they try to added stuff they like again not having a clue what they just did and screw it up even more. Please add Best in slot affixes for rare gear at least in the build guide link for d4builds. That's the only criticism I have other than that I like your voice, how you present, and the way you structure everything else into one. Keep up the good work. Thanks again for your builds and time.

I love ice spikes i tried it last season and loved it even though it wasnt meta it was great but when i found out there was a blue rose i had to find a build and here it is i found it and i love this build ao much better then the boring ball lightning. Thanks so much you just got a new subscriber

same here exaclty that, ball sorc got me so much great new rings and gear to try out since those are mostly for fire and ice that I instead of respeccing decided to roll a completely new sorc char for these kinds of builds.
I've been playing a Sorc since the game launched. Tried a frost sorc pre season, my first character and could barely push NM50's. Season 2 I started with an Infinimist Necro, pretty fun. Then I rolled ball lightening and was finally able to do NM100 and beat Lillith, the build is seriously busted and cheesy AF. It was so overpowered I leveled a Fireball sorc to 100, it was interesting but very hit or miss, even with XFals, shelved that character quickly then leveled another Charge Bolts sorc to 100. Great damage but not enough to melt mobs quickly enough and single damage mobs were a bit of a challenge. Then I found this build, revamped my 100 fireball sorc and this thing also melts and not as cheesy as balll lightening. Great for AOE damage, can take a few more hits, and can melt bosses quickly. This is exactly the sorc I wanted at game launch. I still think Ball Lightening has it beat for pure damage but this is a nice change. I'm running NM90's no problem to level up my frost glyphs.

I've been loving the idea of ICe Spike builds but either the mana or the defense were always lacking as they pushed too far one direction to make up for something, but this.... THIS looks balanced and fun!

I really want to run an ice spikes blizzard build but I’m trying to wait for season 3 I allready have too many other builds I’m working on. You almost have to plan what you’re going to play each season because you don’t want to start one too late only get half way leveled the season ends and you didn’t even get to experience the build.

For some reason, my glyph socket range is 1 off from yours. I literally can't do any of what you have on your boards. The range pattern is shifted up 1 set of boxes.. even on the very first board.
I agree. That’s why I worked on this build for awhile. Having the massive AOE damage and freezing everything around you is pretty damn powerful not to mention wicked fun!
Why not use metamorphosis for the extra unstoppable on your dash? Is accursed touch superior to a 3rd mana fill in the rotation? Also, the starter board has 70 intelligence available for the stalagmite rune... can get its final number close to 160% ice spike damage. I play a self built self found blizz wiz and it's pretty close to this one just without the tals and instead of fire bolt I use ice shards as my 2nd enchant for add clear.
So you are potentially losing 60x multiplicative damage and 30+ non physical damage by not using tal’s also your not causing vulnerable damage (ice blades is crap vuln)
@@kevinnguyen8552 I clicked his build link and looked at everything he out into it. I did end up tweaking a couple things after comparing, but I put together the maxroll blizzard sorcerer and then Ultra’s. Ultra’s felt a lot better in both damage and survivability. Like I said, I did tweak a couple things after that though. Currently running 95-100 tier nightmare dungeons depending on the affixes for the dungeon. Lighting ball is more powerful, for sure, but the playstyle of this blizzard sorcerer is more fun for me.
blue rose or why not xFal´s? u tested the differents? i think on bosses its better with blue rose but with the dungeon, think x fals would be better, your opinion?
Blue rose is better is overall feel and damage tbh. Blue rose provides +69% Icespile damage and that is exactly what we are trying to build. Blue rose also provides the most important aspect of the build and that’s mana cost reduction. You can test both rings put on the test dummies and you will see that you can cast many more blizzards over a 30 second timespan vs Xfal.
@@ultrarunnagaming so i testet it with the glyphe from Spikes and i must say x fals is in group much more dmg. Maybe on single target blue Rose is the Same damage. But with my 90% lucky Hit sorc... Xfals wins

Yes it’s good but In my texting a chest piece with Armor, damage reduction and the aspect that gives you damage reduction in your blizzard is even better. Both work fine though
Sorry for being lazy. Probably you have answered the question already… what would be the alternative for blue rose ring? Legendary ring+aspect or xfal?
And wouldn’t it be worth dropping some points in order to get enchantment master legendary paragon? As it seems big time underrated by every mage build out there… just a thought And which glyph you’d advise to drop once I get my tears of blood glyph? I’ve tried ball lightning build, and the faceroll play style of the build is just not for me… switched to CL sorc, but due to build not being broken in every possible way seem to be hard stuck at tier 10 on AoZ. Simply gave up on trying to push the AoZ at this point, just trying to gather items for different builds to brighten up my gameplay a bit
Im splaying similiar builds, except i have iceshards instead of frozen orb as autocasting ability, and i recently killed uber lilith with it aswel as all the other bosses on the way i cluding duriel. Even deleted duriel in 4 man party solo, while boosting friends and lilith in 2 man party. Definetly not as strong as ball sorc, but atleast its way moje enjoyable to play for me. And it work for all content🎉
Blue balls are a OP build for sure but this blizzard build is can stand toe to toe with it for everything in the game except boss damage. I enjoy this build over blue balls.
100%. It actually works better. I just don’t make builds that recommend using Harley because most people don’t have it. I do and you are unstoppable with it
Great but why missing cryomancy when with small nodes skipping 35 percent cold damage?Im going with chain lightning enchant btw for the extra from tal ring
You are missing out on massive damage by not using flame for your enchant. You don’t need chain at all. You get lightning from teleport. You teleport into an enemy and it instantly applies lightning damage. At that point you just apply ANY damage type and it will refresh your stacks.
@@joergmeyhoefer you want frozen orb they come out all the time and they chill everything, which numbs your damage. I choose to bypass cryo to get the 6th paragon board to get additive damage increase

Thank you much appreciated! Yes the grind goes much much faster if you stay in the Harvest event and run NM dungeons. Also make sure you have a elixer on at all times and always look for world bosses they give huge experience. Happy hunting!

If you don’t have it yet that’s ok although put it on as soon as you get it because it will transform the build greatly and the overall feel will be vastly improved. Until then look for mana cost reduction, crit chance, crit damage on your ring
@@Ka0sAssassin I would focus on mana cost reduction. If you have the vamparic powers setup correctly you.will attack very fast and in turn do wayyy more damage but you need the mana to keep it going so it should be your first priority. Once you get everything you need it’s an absolute beast of a build. I’m working on a video right now Ball lightning vs Ice Spikes and I should have it out in a few days after the holidays. This one should be pretty fun
You want to believe this shit but i just had the blue rose drop in a lvl 53 nm dungeon just after i started playing this build and iv got more tweeking to do to get to your lvl But i really like this buld so far thanks 😊
I'm a fan of blizzard... But it's not even in the same tier as ball lightning this season. Obviously BL is just broken, but clear speed, boss killing, open world, sheer DPS... Nothing comes close to BL unfortunately. If doing this build though, I would advise to try swapping out Blue Rose for X'Fals as it should net you more damage.
Tested xfal extensively and occasionally it will hit higher but you lose way to much mana reduction and you also lose 69% ice spike damage. Blue rose feels much better for the build. Yes of course blue balls is broken, they said they are fixing at end of season. This build s damage is coming from Ice spikes not primarily blizzard. Appreciate the comment :)
@@ultrarunnagaming yeah that's fair. In my testing it's not a world of difference in damage unless you really scale your lucky hit for x'fals. Also will just depend on the rolls you have of each. High roll blue rose beats a low roll x'fals.
I made the mistake of starting the game going with this build. Well, it wasn’t really a mistake lol it still worked really well. But once you hit 65+ it really starts to ramp up
Zeal does a bit more damage but it does not feel as fluid. blue offers up to 29% mana cost reduction and up to +70% ice spike damage. Blue is the better choice.
@@garettkm no you really just want to level them up to lvl 15 to expend the radius. No need to max them unless you are really looking for every last bit out of them
Anyone using this build and can confirm that its legit and worth spending the time to change everything, just making sure I'm not waisting my time switching to a build that isnt going to do nmd 100's and uber bosses. No offence to Ultra or anything just want some feedback from someone using the build currently and can confirm this works as shown.
I'm currently working on the build haven't got a blue rose. Or the glyphs maxed out only to a couple 15s. I'm currently able to solo varshon/ Grigore. I'm doing about 100k per hit, which stacks very fast depending on your resource regeneration. Only doing level 60s in dungeon NM because I'm still missing some things, and my glyphs aren't maxed. I think once you max it out it's worth it. Also a fun different way to play from electro ball. Electro ball imo is still superior but this is more fun. Once I max out everything, I 100% think it's super capable of doing everything mentioned.

As stated was just kinda on the fence about it for a bit as there is a lot of build circulating around and most of them are just mediocre at best. Want something different with competitive dps similar but not the same as ball lightning because we all know that is superior as far as dps is concerned. Looking to settle in on a final build to take to arb zir.
Yes BL is pretty busted atm and after awhile it does become a bit boring to play. The Ice spikes build is a very different play style it’s not so ADD like if you know what I mean :). It’s more of a CHILL ( see what I did there ) approach. Couple things to remember that are very important. Glacial aspect must go in your amulet slot for maximum damage. This is a AOE damage build so it’s going to feel wildly different then BL yet very satisfying once fully built. Let me know what you think once you have it completely built. Happy hunting friend
Icefall gives your frost skills increased damage to vulnerable enemies, double bumps if frozen. Icefall is not for ice spikes it’s for blizzard and frozen orb to increase those effects. The reason we take the icefall board is because it has many nodes to increase damage to chilled or frozen enemies
@@joergmeyhoefer you could be right but it felt right since we don’t have enough points to get to another board to utilize another glyph. You could take those points and move them somewhere else if you choose

Well ice blades reduces your cooldowns == more casts, more lucky frozen orb's. by hunch im guessing the chilled it gives evens out the stun from the spear. you can argue that it gives relaible lightning dmg. think its really a matter or preference.

Just seen this and I'm getting ready to switch things over and do my first run with it and seeing this makes me even more excited for the build!
This build does not beat t100 butcher. Also flicker step is good here because your ult does insane damage with all the ice spike scaling

Just maxed ball lightning for the most part. This is perfect for a new build to play with before December 5th patch.
This is my new favorite. You can literally stand still if you want and destroy everything on the screen. Once the ice spike get going it’s insane!
I really want to run an ice spikes blizzard build but I’m trying to wait for season 3 I allready have too many other builds I’m working on. You almost have to plan what you’re going to play each season because you don’t want to start one too late only get half way leveled the season ends and you didn’t even get to experience the build.
Agree. I decided to take the rest of the season off and come back Season 3. It’s good to step away for awhile and come back with excitement :).

For some reason, my glyph socket range is 1 off from yours. I literally can't do any of what you have on your boards. The range pattern is shifted up 1 set of boxes.. even on the very first board.
You need to upgrade your glyph to lvl 15 and they will expand

I agree. That’s why I worked on this build for awhile. Having the massive AOE damage and freezing everything around you is pretty damn powerful not to mention wicked fun!
Why not use metamorphosis for the extra unstoppable on your dash? Is accursed touch superior to a 3rd mana fill in the rotation? Also, the starter board has 70 intelligence available for the stalagmite rune... can get its final number close to 160% ice spike damage. I play a self built self found blizz wiz and it's pretty close to this one just without the tals and instead of fire bolt I use ice shards as my 2nd enchant for add clear.
So you are potentially losing 60x multiplicative damage and 30+ non physical damage by not using tal’s also your not causing vulnerable damage (ice blades is crap vuln)

@@kevinnguyen8552 I clicked his build link and looked at everything he out into it. I did end up tweaking a couple things after comparing, but I put together the maxroll blizzard sorcerer and then Ultra’s. Ultra’s felt a lot better in both damage and survivability. Like I said, I did tweak a couple things after that though. Currently running 95-100 tier nightmare dungeons depending on the affixes for the dungeon.
Lighting ball is more powerful, for sure, but the playstyle of this blizzard sorcerer is more fun for me.

Is the increased ice spike size from Frozen Tundra aspect bugged? I'm not seeing a noticeable 50% increase
blue rose or why not xFal´s? u tested the differents? i think on bosses its better with blue rose but with the dungeon, think x fals would be better, your opinion?
Blue rose is better is overall feel and damage tbh. Blue rose provides +69% Icespile damage and that is exactly what we are trying to build. Blue rose also provides the most important aspect of the build and that’s mana cost reduction. You can test both rings put on the test dummies and you will see that you can cast many more blizzards over a 30 second timespan vs Xfal.
@@ultrarunnagaming so i testet it with the glyphe from Spikes and i must say x fals is in group much more dmg. Maybe on single target blue Rose is the Same damage. But with my 90% lucky Hit sorc... Xfals wins
Wait. I thought they had it so Spikes didnt apply burning with the enchant...or maybe that was Blizzard. Either way what is applying the burning?

Ice shards is better on bosses this is better for everything else. Definitely with the Harlequin!!!

Would the Soulbrand Unique armor be good for this build? since it gives you a barrier when you heal
Yes it’s good but In my texting a chest piece with Armor, damage reduction and the aspect that gives you damage reduction in your blizzard is even better. Both work fine though

And which glyph you’d advise to drop once I get my tears of blood glyph? I’ve tried ball lightning build, and the faceroll play style of the build is just not for me… switched to CL sorc, but due to build not being broken in every possible way seem to be hard stuck at tier 10 on AoZ. Simply gave up on trying to push the AoZ at this point, just trying to gather items for different builds to brighten up my gameplay a bit
Im splaying similiar builds, except i have iceshards instead of frozen orb as autocasting ability, and i recently killed uber lilith with it aswel as all the other bosses on the way i cluding duriel. Even deleted duriel in 4 man party solo, while boosting friends and lilith in 2 man party. Definetly not as strong as ball sorc, but atleast its way moje enjoyable to play for me. And it work for all content🎉
Blue balls are a OP build for sure but this blizzard build is can stand toe to toe with it for everything in the game except boss damage. I enjoy this build over blue balls.
Would this build work with the harlequin instead of the godslayer crown?
100%. It actually works better. I just don’t make builds that recommend using Harley because most people don’t have it. I do and you are unstoppable with it

Great but why missing cryomancy when with small nodes skipping 35 percent cold damage?Im going with chain lightning enchant btw for the extra from tal ring
You are missing out on massive damage by not using flame for your enchant. You don’t need chain at all. You get lightning from teleport. You teleport into an enemy and it instantly applies lightning damage. At that point you just apply ANY damage type and it will refresh your stacks.
Ty very much i tried chain for frozen orb not for Firebolt. Teleport is nice...changed it now. Whats up with cryo paragon board node
@@joergmeyhoefer you want frozen orb they come out all the time and they chill everything, which numbs your damage. I choose to bypass cryo to get the 6th paragon board to get additive damage increase

We do run it. In the enchantment slot and mana regen stat is critical so you can spam the skill

Thank you much appreciated! Yes the grind goes much much faster if you stay in the Harvest event and run NM dungeons. Also make sure you have a elixer on at all times and always look for world bosses they give huge experience. Happy hunting!

Yes you can but make sure you have the glacial aspect on the amulet frozen tundra on your gloves or you won’t have the damage.

If you don’t have it yet that’s ok although put it on as soon as you get it because it will transform the build greatly and the overall feel will be vastly improved. Until then look for mana cost reduction, crit chance, crit damage on your ring

If you have the vamparic powers setup correctly you.will attack very fast and in turn do wayyy more damage but you need the mana to keep it going so it should be your first priority. Once you get everything you need it’s an absolute beast of a build. I’m working on a video right now Ball lightning vs Ice Spikes and I should have it out in a few days after the holidays. This one should be pretty fun
You want to believe this shit but i just had the blue rose drop in a lvl 53 nm dungeon just after i started playing this build and iv got more tweeking to do to get to your lvl

I'm a fan of blizzard... But it's not even in the same tier as ball lightning this season. Obviously BL is just broken, but clear speed, boss killing, open world, sheer DPS... Nothing comes close to BL unfortunately. If doing this build though, I would advise to try swapping out Blue Rose for X'Fals as it should net you more damage.
Tested xfal extensively and occasionally it will hit higher but you lose way to much mana reduction and you also lose 69% ice spike damage. Blue rose feels much better for the build. Yes of course blue balls is broken, they said they are fixing at end of season. This build s damage is coming from Ice spikes not primarily blizzard. Appreciate the comment :)
@@ultrarunnagaming yeah that's fair. In my testing it's not a world of difference in damage unless you really scale your lucky hit for x'fals. Also will just depend on the rolls you have of each. High roll blue rose beats a low roll x'fals.
I made the mistake of starting the game going with this build. Well, it wasn’t really a mistake lol it still worked really well. But once you hit 65+ it really starts to ramp up
Xfal I think is stronger here over Tal in the ring slot, synergies better with flame passive
Zeal does a bit more damage but it does not feel as fluid. blue offers up to 29% mana cost reduction and up to +70% ice spike damage. Blue is the better choice.

Permafrost passive don't work with ice spikes because ice spikes don't is a frost skill

Anyone using this build and can confirm that its legit and worth spending the time to change everything, just making sure I'm not waisting my time switching to a build that isnt going to do nmd 100's and uber bosses. No offence to Ultra or anything just want some feedback from someone using the build currently and can confirm this works as shown.
I'm currently working on the build haven't got a blue rose. Or the glyphs maxed out only to a couple 15s. I'm currently able to solo varshon/ Grigore. I'm doing about 100k per hit, which stacks very fast depending on your resource regeneration. Only doing level 60s in dungeon NM because I'm still missing some things, and my glyphs aren't maxed. I think once you max it out it's worth it. Also a fun different way to play from electro ball. Electro ball imo is still superior but this is more fun. Once I max out everything, I 100% think it's super capable of doing everything mentioned.
I've been able to run t100 nightmares, still not optimized amulet and chestpiece but close. Very good build and good survivability!

Awesome, after work I’m going by to go ahead and make the switch!!!!! Thanks ultra for the awesome builds and guides as always! As stated was just kinda on the fence about it for a bit as there is a lot of build circulating around and most of them are just mediocre at best. Want something different with competitive dps similar but not the same as ball lightning because we all know that is superior as far as dps is concerned. Looking to settle in on a final build to take to arb zir.
Yes BL is pretty busted atm and after awhile it does become a bit boring to play. The Ice spikes build is a very different play style it’s not so ADD like if you know what I mean :). It’s more of a CHILL ( see what I did there ) approach. Couple things to remember that are very important. Glacial aspect must go in your amulet slot for maximum damage. This is a AOE damage build so it’s going to feel wildly different then BL yet very satisfying once fully built. Let me know what you think once you have it completely built. Happy hunting friend

One quick issue...you took icefall but ice spike is no skill???
Icefall gives your frost skills increased damage to vulnerable enemies, double bumps if frozen. Icefall is not for ice spikes it’s for blizzard and frozen orb to increase those effects. The reason we take the icefall board is because it has many nodes to increase damage to chilled or frozen enemies

Lucky hit over close. However if you prefer dagger then go with it. Not that big a difference either way

Missing lightning damage for tal rasha
Teleport is all you need to active the damage bonus for the ring
Lighting spear would probably be better then the ice ball attack.
Well ice blades reduces your cooldowns == more casts, more lucky frozen orb's.
by hunch im guessing the chilled it gives evens out the stun from the spear.
you can argue that it gives relaible lightning dmg.
think its really a matter or preference.
Exactly right. The amount of orbs and chill that come out amplify your damage tremendously vs lightning spear and it’s not even close
