- In this video we will be going over the top 10 mounts with the most unique methods of obtaining them, be it fishing, exploring, or doing very specific tasks, countless mounts are simply dropped, sold by a vendor, purchased off the store, or obtained from achievements, but some are only obtained through some of the weirdest methods.

Legion had such cool extra activities. Getting Lucid Nightmare is one of the coolest things in wow.

I came to say just that!. That is one of the great memories of my time playing WoW, everyone on discord trying to figure it out and then doing the infinite maze and finally getting it was amazing!

I also think Blanchy deserves an honourable mention. Waiting for it to spawn, stopping it in its tracks so you can interact with it, and then bringing specific items from all over shadowlands back to Blanchy in a set order over the course of multiple encounters to get the mount.
But it's not that unique. You just need to do it once a day for a week and give it some stuff. We already had similair mounts with this method, just like the uldum alpaca or maelie in korthia . The only thing that is actually unique is that Blanchy needs more unique things.

@@Unleash_HP blanchy can outrun mounts so you have to be 100% sure of it's spawn time, you also have 5 minutes to interact with it. I will say that the Alpaca is more unique in the sense that it has multiple spawn points iirc

Incidentally; when you complete the Lucid Nightmare mount, that one toon you completed it on, keeps access to the infamous Karazan Crypts. I love that feature for videos and what not.

4:53 I don't know if you know it or forgot to mention it but after you heal the mother you also can speak with avianna (when you mount one of those mounts) and she unlocks you a hidden rep for getting another mount (a pvp rep that doesn't count in the meta rep achievement but still a rep).
Lucid nightmare has been one of my favorite mounts for a long time just because of how fun it was to figure out all the puzzles
Lucid Nightmare was literally a nightmare. I was in the Mugu maze for 7 hours straight before I finished it.
You fking casual. I was there for 10.
In all seriousness though, first attempt took me a lot of time to find each pair, until I realized I should have just taken notice of the location of orbs and runes and use them to mark my way around. Second attempt went great, but forgot about server reset... Third attempt was great though. One of my favorite mounts
The Hivemind and Lucid Nightmare secrets were so sick. I hope they make more of those complicated puzzles in the future!
The Long Forgotten Hippogryph is one of my favorite mounts. I was just questing in Legion and came across two crystals naturally, so I looked it up and found out what they were and then had to run around checking all the spawns to find the last 3, but it was very memorable for me to just stumble upon.
The long forgotten Hippogryph was extremely frustrating for me. I had another player beat me to it when I was on 3 crystals looking for my fourth, twice. Then I had 4/5 crystals and D/C'ed three times... at least once right as I found the fifth crystal.
Finally managed to find a night when no one else was in the zone and got all five crystals without anything ruining the run! Twas a moment of pure joy!

i Remember getting all the Falcosaur mounts in one day because i noticed you could keep doing the next daily avaiable on a different toon since they weren't account locked was epic and i got all the baby Direbeaks to lv 25 with Epic battle stones as well was awesome.

Got the Silverwind Larion only a week or so into the expansion, most locations were pretty easy but some required a bit more finesse and/or creativity which was cool. Mount looks great as well, used it for quite a while.
The Falcosaur quest is actually pretty similar to the Winterspring Cub/Ravasaur quest chain in classic wow (only the quest-giver is stationary) where you need to raise the baby under a sequence of quests every day for 20 days.
I thought getting the Lucid Nightmare was a lot of fun.

I almost lost my mind on the maze part of the lucid nightmare I did it together with my dad so it wouldn't get too boring walking around in a maze and in the end, I needed 2 hours for the maze alone and he was 30 minutes faster

I remember killing the Fathom Dweller world quest and having some kid start flaming me in chat for killing it when he didnt even have the world quest to kill the world boss.
That is so stupid. Even if they had the quest, it respawns super-fast.
I finished the maze for lucid but was not aware you had to go back to the other room and pick up the note. So I hearthed out and realized I had to do it all over again....
I went back and 3 hours later I finally got the orbs done. It is still my favorite mount for my shadow priest to this day. 😂

That last page for lucid nightmare was the worst night ever. I spent six hours running around that maze.
I have all of these except Falcosaurs and Tidestallion. Most of these are among my favorite mounts and getting them are some of my favorite memories in WoW, especially the Lucid Nightmare.
Not sure if it was mentioned but you can purchase the glider for the first mount of the AH and it's usually cheap. I was kyrian but I bought like 4 anyway incase I messed up.
Goblin Glider was easy money for Eng the minute it showed up.
I love that I have all these and got them all as they were released.
Mount hunting is the best
Watching this after I finally hunkered down and RNG'd my way through the Lucid Nightmare maze. Actually wasn't as bad as I thought, only took me around 2 hours. I was trying to map it out for a good bit before eventually giving up on that, but pieces of the map did save me some time at the end.
Lucid Nightmare was fun. In-game puzzles are nice and relaxing.

The maze mount in Ardenweld deserve a mention. while it is not hard, the color scheme of the zone makes it hard to see the lamp and can take a few tries to get it.
I remember the lucid nightmare, without this fricking map. Took me 4 hours to complete that dungeon lol
The Hivemind was for some reason easier though lol

That charger in the maw imho is unique. Outruns all mounts, runs across the entire zone, hits like a truck, requires the generosity and cooperation of other players in the maw, etc.
Ah, this brings back fond memories of doing quest in outlands and getting a magic boot-merang you could throw at peons to motivate them

Being stuck in the lucid nightmare maze with 30 other people during the release of the secret was one of the most fun experiences ive had in this game. The zone chat was going wild
I might be biased because I was there in the secret finding discord with everyone while it was happening but the Lucid Nightmare is hands down my favorite mount/activity/event/secret in all of WoW
4:03 has anyone tipps for the pet battles? Have all 4 of the pets but cant win a single pet battle - same goes for bug from uldum

Could argue for the crimson deathcharger. I know it is technically just quests, but it is still quite unique
I think the spellbound tome deserves a mention, considering you have to do a solo challenge on for each encounter and have to do every position like Dps, Healer, Tank depending on the challenge or class.
Hive Mind was one of the most fun group activities I've done in WoW
I remember the Lucid Nightmare one very well lol. My brother had to help me with the maze, because I tried for 2 hours straight and couldn't get it :P
5:45 that thing does refresh after two weeks and allows you to access Eye Of Azshara zone worldquests. I remember that time when I completed it during Emerald Nightmare's release and the mobs there were so strong. (Plus I did not have flight)
Boss looks like Kosumoth The Hungering from Dragon Soul raid and I think that elite using some "shaved off" voicelines from the original boss.
For the Glider for the Sunstrider you can buy it off the AH. No need to be a Kyrian.
Got the Predatory Bloodgazer, Lucid Nightmare and Hivemind from the list - I absolutely loved all the associated quests and secrets to get each, but I'd say my favorite by far was the Lucid Nightmare one, I remember I spent 5h inside that maze while my guild partners were waiting for me to go do some mythic dungeons together lmao

1:48 It takes about 10 minutes if the mount is up that day. Just go into War Mode for Murloco. Don't even need the cape anymore just the starting quest.
For the murloco item, I found it when I was on my Main with warmode OFF then hearthed, went to SW and then put warmode ON and went back to Naz'jatar and he was there. ( Also, the item is unique so you can only carry one, but it is an ingredient for other items, so I bought one, sold it and bought another. Got the mount and then repurchased the one I sold earlier )
Worst part on Phanthom Dweller was that the WQ has 50% chance to go on either reward at every 2 week reset. Making it that in EU there was no mount reward avaible for 6 months or so back in Legion.

My unforgettable experience was getting the hivemind and lucid nightmare. It took me 2-3hrs on maze too 😂.
The Hivemind had a peculiar glitch to obtain. You had to get into a dungeon where you could find the mount, but rather than going through the whole ordeal, you could jump out of the dungeon’s path into the water, swim ashore near a mountain peak, and simply cross a bridge directly into the mount. It’s as easy as it sounds and I doubt they ever patched it. Glad I didn’t get banned or had the mount taken for doing this glitch, though it was unheard of at a time and came across a group that knew about it and carry me into victory.
Wildseed Cradle, Deepstar Polyp (Hirukon), Swift Gloomhoof, Shimmermist Runner, Reins of the Wanderer (Maelie the Wanderer), Blanchy's Reins, Nilganihmaht Control Ring, Honeyback Harvester's Harness, Child of Torcali, Kua'fon's Harness, Aerial Unit R-21/X (Mechagon hard mode), Shadowbarb Drone, Elderhorn Riding Harness (Leatherworking) .
Hivemind is characterbound and can be used as taxi among the "characters" who achieved to earn this mount.
So...I've done Lucid Nightmare yesterday...since the addon that helps you with it is broken, I've done it without any notes or anything. If you're going to do the same, be prepared to take some real sanity damage. Took me almost 4 hours just running around the Endless Halls.

I feel a more recent version of this video would NEED to have the Visage of Tarecgosa mount added in Dragonflight. To even be eligible for it you have to have previously obtained the staff that grants Visage of Tarecgosa, which is an entire can of worms in itself.

I actually have all of the puzzle mounts and pets up to BFA. The Hivemind is my personal favorite.
I was very lucky for the long-forgotten hippogryph. It was on reset day, and I decided of all rares to go for that one. I found the list of potential spawn points for the crystals on wowhead and threw them into tomtom. I just made a sort of google maps for how to get from one point to another and managed to find a crystal on like my 30th location. I knew I was onto something. A few crystals later I noticed someone else searching spots that I had checked, so I tried to rush through them. I managed to find all 5 before the other person luckily and scored the mount. I did this on a relatively populated server so your chances might be better if you do it on low pop.
I got this mount at like 4 am on a heavily populated server, I’ve never felt more dread and anxiety than in that moment lmao
Took me a few tries for the forgotten mount. Once did I see that special text that Goss throughout the whole zone meaning that someone beat me to it.
Griftah sells the Amulet of the True Treasure Tracking in the Port of Zandalar, right next to the flight master. I think there was a small quest together him there.Not sure where he is in Kul Tiras, but I know he is there as well. I am not even sure that the version he sells in Shattrath is the same one and works correctly with the puzzle, but it could be.
didn't even know he was in zuldazar, I bought the amulet from him in shattrath and it worked

The falcosaur mounts remind me of the old Un'Goro raptor mount that you got from a quest chain. You had to raise the raptor from just-hatched to fully grown (in what I think was ~20 days). Maybe it's a nod to it?
ye, was about to say, kinda a shitty move to include one of the earliest unique mount acquisitions, especially because they are so close, they couldve easily shared a spot with the falcosaur mounts
@@vhaelen326 The ungoro raptor and winterspring tiger do not require you to do pet battles or raids.
@@darwinxavier3516 they are still incredibly similiar, both involve getting a pet, raising it through dailies until it turns into a mount, saying they arent similiar because one involves pet battles and the other dont is like saying "this quest to kill 5 turtles isnt at all similar to that quest to kill 6 bears" they are so similiar that i dont think anyone could dispute that the falcosaur mounts where directly inspired by the ungoro and winterspring mounts, and i think they deserved a spot on the list because they were the first unique mounts in the game in that regard, everything before that was either bought from a vendor or a drop of some kind (if we exclude the class mounts)
@@vhaelen326 I don't think you grasp how big a difference requiring pet battles and raid kills actually is. If you didn't already pet battle a lot at the time, then it would've taken you a while to prepare for that step. The tiger and raptor are easy by comparison. Plus then you'd also have to mention the Aqir wasp you got in Uldum, and the green direhorn in Zuldazar. The list was about the MOST unique methods, not who did it first.

Hey Hiru, appreciate and enjoy everything you and your team does on this channel. Something's buggin me though...
There's a ton of videos on topics like this and no one ever mentions the Vial of the Sands recipe. A lot of people just attribute the mount to an auction house grab. However, the recipe is the most frustrating concept I have ever grinded out.
I'm talking about it in Cata, where you can only get the recipe as an alchemist, only from tol vir digs, only from jar solves. Not that I need to tell you, but you HAD to get Tol vir dig sites. These were RNG that you had to get lucky that one spawned on the continent. If not then you had to solve the closest site then HOPE the next one was tolvir. If it was then you had to have enough fragments for a solve. If you ended up getting a rare that was 180 fragments. That ate up your dig sites. Then...if you got lucky... You might get a jar. Then if you got it then you had to have the recipe drop in that jar. If not, START OVER FOR DIG SITES.
A couple of people on a discord took average wowhead, forum posts and the like and it would take an average of 23 to 28 jar solves to get the recipe to drop. If you got it outside that window then you were extremely unlucky. There's a guy on wowhead claiming he has 500 jar solves and no recipe yet with a confirmation from Blizz that his account isn't bugged.
So that's RNG, on RNG, on RNG. That's during Cata of course, it got easier with the Mantid trick in MoP. Curious on your thoughts on this?

A little surprised the Voidtalon mount didn't at least get a mention. Trying to find a tiny portal that can spawn anywhere in the BFA zones is a real chore.
I think you mean WOD zones, but true it is rather odd, it is not exactly unique, as the camel in uldum works the same, however with camel statues, and also of course various other rare world mounts like the timelost protodrake.
I remember placing one alt in every WoD zone at a portal spawn for server reboots EVERY week (since the portal is a guaranteed spawn whenever the server restarts) but since it despawns after 5 minutes or something I still don't have it 😭
@@LewtiiiThat's because the void talon portal does not spawn on reset, but 48 hours after any reset. So not before Thursday for NA and FRI for EU. And then, I forget how many hours after it was claimed or it despawned.

I have just obtained ptsd from seeing the orbs gosh I forgot that. I spent I think in total 8 hours doing it. It started to work only once I figured out the maze edges and how to not escape the current generated seed.... that required alot od will

I'm surprised you don't have the venomhide ravasaur. It took 30 days of quests raising your battle pet from hatchling to mount. You literally watch it get bigger every day

The Alliance version is much easier, although it takes just as long. Upon getting either faction's mount, you automatically get the other one.
Shadowbarb Drone is also of a similar ilk. A month of quests, even though it has 2 different variants that have fairly standard methods of acquisition

Yes, its 100% for the player using the glider + doing the hot seat.

Some guy was advertising selling spots for the hivemind group for a ridiculous amount of gold. I joined, completed the ritual, and got the mount. When he asked for the gold, I left the party and blocked him.
Now the only people who can join my hivemind are those I scammed out of thousands of gold.

That big maze with lucid Nightmare i was stuck there for 7-8 hours. Brain Damage Deluxe
What about the Venomsaur? That was one of the OG unique mounts. Though I believe it was released in TBC it resides in Vanilla area.
Honorable mention should be Loyal Gorger mount which requires you to do a prerequisite quest in Revendreth spawn (with Enticing Anima) and kill the Worldedge Gorger rare and get the Impressionble Gorger Spawn to drop and then do a week's worth if daily quests to get the mount.

I got Hivemind cause some guildies were putting a group together for it and needed a 5th lol.
I always found it a pity with the Hive mount how it limits you to your current 5. I thought it would make a network and connect all the people you know, like a "hive". Missed opportunity.
