Hello doctor i hurt my knee kicking soccer ball and it sounds like breaking brazil nut 😂 but i can run whit in a week it's 3 time in total the 1st one was 6 years ago second one was about 7 months ago and yesterday it sounds again and there is no lock in the knee pain is negligible and in first case i do squat upto 10 in playing soccer at the same week. Now what should i do
I had x-rays about 2 weeks ago. Both medial meniscus are "gone". Y'day, and this morning, my left leg is swollen (from the knee area down thru my ankle), painful, and I could barely walk when I woke this morning. I'm sitting here with my legs somewhat elevated; it's helping ease the pain, but is still swollen. Suggestions please?
My son hurt his knee while playing soccer. He kicked a ball and he felt pain on his knee. He got an MRI and he got the following results: questionable vertical longitudinal tear of the anterior body and anterior horn medial meniscus. There was an also evidence of patellofemoral maltracking and some degree of trochlear dysplasia. He was able to do PT and return to play soccer 5 weeks after the first injury, but hurt his knee again on the first game back. He rested and return to play 3 weeks later, but hurt himself again. Currently, he has not played since the last injury, which happened one week ago. He doesn't have pain and is able to walk and move. My question is, based on the initial MRI, would the possible tear he has need surgery? Also, would it be a good idea to request another MRI? Right now, he started doing PT and working with a chiropractor.
As a Kinesiology student who aspires to be a PT, it sounds like surgery might be needed. Meniscus tears can progress if the injury is not taken care of, compromising the rest of the knee and surrounding muscles. Because there is a tear, the surround muscles begin to compensate for the tear which can cause further issues. That’s why the PT in the above videos says working the quads, hamstring, glutes and calfs must be strengthened, to lessen any further damage. I hope this helps and answers you question to a certain degree
A chiropractor?! Wowza. Common sense would tell me that your son should probably see an orthopedic specialist! Maybe several of them! Put down the ⚽️ for at least 4-6 months! I'm no doctor but I sure wish someone would have stopped me when I was young and kept reinjuring my back! It might have saved me from a major back surgery where I had blown out my L5-S1 and needed a disc replacement with titanium plate, fusion etc. Took YEARS of recovery (if u could call it that) that left me with chronic pain (surgery in 2008) and a slew of other issues all 3 mo's before my 40th bday. I know it's not the same but I cringe when I hear stories of young kids injuring and reinjuring their bodies! Nothing is worse than regret. I wish ur son a very happy ending to what can turn into a very serious life long story with no ending to the pain and suffering he will endure when he's older.
I tore my meniscus on my right knee when I was doing plyometrics back in 6th grade didn't get surgery I just rest it for a couple of weeks until the swelling stops. I'm 24 now and my knee keeps making a popping sound everytime I bend it and sometimes it locks in place. I lost 80 percent of my athleticism and stop doing sports all together and can't go pass 80% of my body weight doing squats. I'm planning to have a surgery soon but I just got a job and it's really hard to since it's a labor intensive.
Hi OrthoEvaPal My guy has a very situation to the one discussed but his pain has extended to his upper hamstring, which makes things more excruciating since he sometimes cannot fully stretch out his leg or even walk as the muscles around the knee and hamstring area tend to stiffen up. He's been to hospital on several ocassions but there's no definite diagnosis to what he has. The 'clicks' in the knee, behind and below the patella as he describes are so obvious and usual but the doctors didn't pick it up. What can we do from here, are there any exercises you can recommend?
Hello doctor, I hurt my knee and there was nothing like swelling or pain. But after sometime I started having pain whenever I fully sit in sqaut position and stand again. Please suggest something.

It's been bout 5-6 days ago now since I had injured my knee skateboarding. I was rolling up to an obstacle and a rock made my board stop short and sent me forward and when I planted my left foot on the ground to stop some of the momentum, my leg was stiff and bent inward from the knee down and popped back to it's original place. I woke up the next day having little range of motion on my knee and a slight buckling feeling when walking. I seen an orthopedic and the guy felt around and only did 2 or 3 of these tests (the one at 3:11 gave me the most trouble) and practically diagnosed me with a meniscus tear without seeing an MRI and said I have 3 options rest at home, physical therapy (which can be a physical terrorist) he said, and surgery. He kind of jumped the gun on surgery being the only option which sketched me out. I will be getting an MRI tomorrow. Should I trust this doctor or anything to look out for on MRI ?
@@yvhgoldenboy2929 I got the MRI done and the doctor said it was a 'fully torn ACL' but I am going to get a second opinion before opting to have surgery because I am starting to regain movement, no pain, and swelling. It just feels very very weak and from my understanding, fully torn would mean that it's not connected anymore right ? I just wanna make sure this guy isn't full of crap.
@@OrthoEvalPal Thank you for replying back to my comment! I have a few questions that you might be able to answer. I used to be really active before taking a break from skateboarding and picking it back up again recently, what type of graft do you recommend I should get that would let me be able to skate again ? Should I take the prehab PT appointments ? and is there any important things you recommend me to ask my ortho and PT ? This is the first time I've ever experience a major injury skateboarding and I still can't wrap my head around the fact this happened, it's tough.
@@staysteezy1104 I have seen hundreds of ACL reconstruction’s and our best outcomes usually are those who have bone patella tendon bone grafts. There is no reason why you couldn’t get back to skateboarding after a year or so. We could athletes back to playing high-level sports after the surgery. I definitely recommend Prehab! Best of luck!

She's going to have an MRI soon which makes all this exercise unnecessary. lol. Reminds me of a time I went to the ER with a broken toe. The ER physician said it didn't look broken. Then he grabbed my big toe and started to ask me a question. That's when I said "STOP!". Do you intend to X-Ray my toe? "Well, yeah", he replied. And I said "How about we dispense with the "does this hurt, does that hurt?" He came out with my X-rays, shaking his head. "Darned if it isn't broken,", he said. Friggin doctors.
There are many people who have meniscus tears and respond very well to therapy. The first line of treatment is now physical therapy. Unless the knee is locked up. Secondly, the stronger they are going into surgery the better the outcome afterwards
@@OrthoEvalPal Right. And if you need surgery, you are going to have it soon after the injury, in which case there is no time to strengthen the muscles around the joint by doing silly exercises that can aggravate the injury. The first line of treatment is physical therapy, because surgery has shown itself to be worthless in the majority of cases. Rest and prayer would be as effective, but orthos and physical therapists have rents to pay.

Hello, how are you, doctor? I have a second-degree meniscus rupture. He went to the doctor and gave me two options, either surgery or platelet-rich plasma. I chose plasma, and now after two months, I feel pain in the same area. Do you recommend an operation?
How r u now? Even my doc advised prp if things don't improve
Same here. How r u now? What treatment did u undergo?
I don’t know what I have one day I noticed when walking my knees started hurting so I was conscious of it but didn’t think anything of it as it was a slight pain fast forward couple months my right knee I couldn’t put much weight on it at when I bent it in a squat position it would hurt went away and then my left had knee had the same pain on the inside. My knee would buckle and get a shock suddenly when I hyper extended when walking I done some exercises and it’s managed pain and mobility for a while but noticed after a couple months it just won’t go away.
What treatment did you take? I have the same symptoms
Can u help me? Im 4 weeks in to recovery non surgical and significantly better however i dont have full range of motion and walking the smallest distance is uncomfortable. I tried a brace and i was paying for it after

Suggestions please?
how are you man? any update?
Not sure if I tore my probiscus but I'm fairly sure I stretched it.
Hope it gets better soon
No one replied to you but do you have any tips

Trimming the meniscus AKA as a menisectomy leads to arthritis. Find a t really good surgeon who bias is to repair the meniscus if possible
How's the injury going?
Do x rays pick up on the meniscus ?? It is a soft tissue which nay get picked up with a MRI.
X-rays will not. Yes on the MRI
@@OrthoEvalPal Thanks for the reply!! Great video!
Hi OrthoEvaPal
My guy has a very situation to the one discussed but his pain has extended to his upper hamstring, which makes things more excruciating since he sometimes cannot fully stretch out his leg or even walk as the muscles around the knee and hamstring area tend to stiffen up.
You need to get a diagnosis. See an orthopedic specialists

Question so when I game I sit crossegged ( criss cross apple sauce lol) and a couple days ago I gamed for along time then the next morning my knee kind of locked I stood up and heard a bunch of cracks. it's day 3 and I'm having some pops I can walk pretty fine on it and it doesint hurt unless it cracks alot in the morning an Amwell doctor told me that I can just rest it and it should be fine and it's nothing serious since I can walk is this true and should I be concerned yet ?
My knee feels weird like I can bend it do everything have full range of motion but I just can’t put pressure on it and can barley walk on it doctors said I have a pcl injury bhad it for about 5 months now
Yes. PCL is a very different issue than what I show here. Best of luck!
Yesterday I injured my Meniscus :)
Can this happen simply from jogging? No weird twists or turns.
Honestly its been like 2 months or less, and its only like my patella area its still kinda swollen just a little underneath it...i cant bend my knee 90° and i still cant straighten it all the way
Definitely should see an orthopedic specialist. Should be moving better by now.
Should I trust this doctor or anything to look out for on MRI ?
mri for sure, it could also be your acl and you can only see that if you had a mri.
An ACL tear is quite easy to identify without an MRI. Most ACL tears need to be reconstructed.

Hello Doc .
Im here because im honestly scared to go to the hospital , on June 8th i was on the court. I was running and a guy hit my left knee inward. I heard a loud pop , my leg swell up very bad but the swelling has since went down. Im able to walk on it , its getting better. I want to know will it get back to normal in time 😭 please i need answers lol im sure ill have to go get it checked soon , but just some type of andwer would help
It’s good that it is getting better, but you should have it checked to see if you have torn one of the stabilizing ligaments.
Any update ?
