  • Ecovacs has replaced the mopping plates on the X1 OMNI to address the water flow issue. Most X1 OMNIs are shiping with the new plates. If you happen to have one of the older ones (if you notice that your robot is not putting down a steady amount of water) contact Ecovacs customer service and they will send you new plates.

    Thanks. It's hard to imagine how an ultrasonic pad like Roborock used could do a better job than counter-rotating pads, but that's what the consensus seems to be. Looking forward to your "clash of the titans" review. Hopefully, Roborock will release theirs this month.

      @@GPR34410 That's the first thing I looked at. Standing them up next to each on a flat surface shows no difference. Mine is set to the highest level. I was a bit premature with this video. New plates improved things but didn't solve the problem. Replacing the mopping pads (any cheap non-oem pads on amazon will do) improved things more, but also did not solve the problem. It does a good job of pickup up dirt but it won't scrub the floor very well (bad with oil type stains, etc.) and you just have to accept that. It's not a deal breaker.

    From the latest vacuum wars video. There was a test done for the overall efficiency of the obstacle avoiding robots. That was very interesting because nobody else really mentions the efficiency of the robots because they are all similar enough. I am aware that the newer gen robots from many companies now have a more adaptive route algorithm. Yet even though most robots tested were lidar, the ecovacs robots finished faster. I always imagined roborocks as the most efficient for some reason. This video would be annoying to make but not many people mention the efficiency of regular vacuums. It would be an original video idea to run maybe 6-7 of your favorite vacuums against each other on your main floor. and see who is the quickest. To prevent them from knocking into each other you would have to run them at different times and this is the annoying part. But I always wonder who is faster by a few minutes lol. It seems the ecovacs x1 has less navigation struggles than its fellow brothers. But does it really beat out the competition with efficiency?

    The one thing that I'm worried about and the reason why I'm still hesitant and that I think you should mention in your full-review:
    - The water tank on the robot is NON-USER replaceable. This is outrageous to me.
    Because long term, you may start to get buildup of bacteria/gunk which will eventually clog up the water system.

    • @MrRoombato
      @MrRoombato  2 года назад

      Fair point. You can probably run vinegar or bleach through it, but it would be a pain.

    • @de_stroyed

      @@MrRoombato At the very least, I hope they have some "water cycle" functionality where you can put some cleaning solution in the clean-water tank and it cycles that to the robots water tank which then goes to the dirty water tank. Maybe you can say that in your review too because your voice is louder and Evovacs might be listening.
      Ecovacs can push this update over the air.

    • @MrRoombato
      @MrRoombato  2 года назад +1

      @@de_stroyed I'm not sure what you mean. Can you explain? Right now, you can put cleaning solution into the clean water tank, and it will do its job on the pads and end up in the dirty water tank.

    • @de_stroyed
      @de_stroyed 2 года назад

      @@MrRoombato Okay, sorry if what I said didn't make any sense.
      Now, I'm not entirely sure if Ecovacs has this feature, but basically, I'm hoping for a way to put a cleaning solution in the clean water tank (let's say this is apart of your weekly maintenance with the robot).
      Once the cleaning solution is in the clean water tank, you then go on your phone, open the Ecovacs app and click on a button that says "Cycle water system" (something among those lines).
      What this would do is: pump the clean water tank (that now has the cleaning solution) into the robot's water tank until it's full and then it instantly dumps all that into the dirty water tank. It does this on repeat automatically for about 4-5 times (or so).
      So basically it self-cleans the water tank without ever leaving its base station.
      I'm not sure if that's what you meant. If it has this feature already, I'll go ahead and buy it.

    • @MrRoombato
      @MrRoombato  2 года назад

      @@de_stroyed Oh! Okay, I get it. No, it can't do that. I don't know if it's possible to suck the water out of the robot's tank by reversing the pump. But...just running the robot as normal will cycle the solution through the tank.

I don’t need the self empty bin feature but I was kinda thinking about going with the X1 Turbo or the Dreame W10. So, do you think this bot is as good as the Roborock S7 Max V? I absolutely love that bot, the ultra dock is supposed to be out in June and I'm thinking about getting it. I wish the X1 was available without the self empty dock or washing dock the way the Roborock is, the X1 series is still quite expensive. Here's another bot you may want to check out, the eufy Robovac X8, or the X8 hybrid if you want the mop feature, I got that a couple of weeks ago and it's great, and the app is quite accessible with speech, it's always a gamble with each bot I get, I never know how accessible the app will be when using Voiceover on my iphone. I also got the Dreametech L10, very similar to the Z10 but without the self empty base.

      I think that the robot itself is as good, yes, but the software is not. I am primarily talking about the navigation algorithm. Also, the mopping is not as good unless you tinker with it or they change the docking station behavior.

      @@MrRoombato There are a lot of reviews comparing the Roborock S7 Max V with the Ecovacs X1, most of them seem to favor the Roborock, I've only seen one that said the X1 was better. I'm going to skip the Ecovacs for now, it's much more expensive than most other bots, I wish they made a version without the self empty dock so it would be a bit cheaper, with the S7 Max, you can choose not to get the ultra dock or self empty dock and this allows you to get the robot at a cheaper price. Another bot I'm looking at is the Trifo Lucy, it really sounds interesting.

      There several things you can try. One, take out the dirty water tank, put it back in and press it down firmly. Two, clean the grate where the water drains with the brush, and three, unplug the dock and plug it back in. Try all three. Also make sure the clean water tank is firmly seated, but that's easier to do when it's full and usually isn't the problem.

    Mr. Roombato,
    Have you ever had any issue with customer service of Ecovacs?
    DId you ordered it from Ecovac's website or from amazon?
    I have talked to them few times and it feels really weird customer service department as they talk in some Asian language in the back ground and there is no team of customer service representative. its just one man team. There is no supervisors or Managers who you can talk to.
    Even on the website there is no option to return this product.
    I am getting really bad vibes about this.
