    Thank you, nice video.
    Buying my MT-07 my dealer did that for me at no cost (had negotiated it). Wanted a 12v plug just in case to be more flexible at the bars. He did a great job there.
    If you plan to buy your MT-07 / FZ-07 you may ask your dealer to do that, because why not :)

      I think a 12V socket is a better choice than a fixed USB charging port. You can do more things with it, including fitting a removable USB charger that is easy to replace/upgrade.

    Very helpful video. I used it today to install a USB on my 2015 FZ 07. Couple of tips that may help the next intrepid installer. In frame 2:53 where you are removing the plastic side shroud from the tank, I used a plastic wedge to release the visible tab, but there is also a not visible tab on the bottom side that can be released by pressing downwards on the center plastic just ahead of the visible tab.
    Also, the front friction fitting you mention consists of a post pressed into a rubber grommet which installs into a cutout in the steel frame. When I pulled that front end out, the grommet came with it, so it is just a matter of removing the grommet from the post and reinserting it into the frame prior to attempting to reinstall the plastic shroud.
    And when installing the pins on the wire ends, I initially failed to crimp the tabs enough onto the wires, so after connecting the connector halves and testing the system, the wires pulled away as I was ty-wrapping the connector in place, so had to start over again. Make sure to install the rubber seals on the wires first, and orient the pins correctly into the connector. I pressed the seals into the tubes with a small flat bladed screw driver to ensure the pins extended far enough to mate with the female sockets in the OEM connector. That also seats the pins into the mating connector half.
    Oh, and to locate the OEM connector, I disconnected the large aft dark gray connector and the auxiliary power connector was directly inboard of that, so it was easier to see and work on the wiring as well as route the usb cable from the handle bars following existing wire bundles.
    Other than that, it was a piece of cake!

    Thanks for the video! One (probably stupid) question. I assume you just remove the battery connectors on the usb connector to get the wires free to insert into the male aux connector? Any advices on that specifically? Thanks again!

    I have a question to the r7 and since they are close to identical bikes under the fairings, maybe someone has a clue...
    The R7 has two identical plugs. one on the left and one on the right.
    The left is for the quick shifter i believe. the problem is: the right one doesnt work for recharging my phone. on the left its working. do i need to eneable the right plug somehow?

    Can you indicate if the USB will receive power when the key is in the P< position? I'd like to use this connector to install LEDs, but I don't want to have to leave the key in the bike to keep them on

      Actually that "dummy plug" that was holding the connector in place is the exact same plug he purchased... it's held in place by a little electrical tape. He didn't need to but the connector... just the male pins that go into the connector.

    Hi mate, I bought all the items you mentioned here, the USB socket that I got came with a fuse and it looks like you cut one off. Is that because the accessory plug is fused? Would be great to be able to shorten the cable like you have.

    • @JanisStrelkovs

      Ivan Gutsan no buddy, if you buy the right connector it drops the 12v down to 5v, just make sure the connector you buy has a 5v output!

    Hi there, I bought everything like recommended. Somehow I couldn't manage to install the cables in the Yamaha connecter probably. Can you give me any advice, how to crimp the male terminal, that the cable is tight and fits in the housing that it clips and doesn't fall out

    • @JanisStrelkovs
      @JanisStrelkovs  7 лет назад +1

      sorry for the late reply. if you've managed to do it already then great! if not the connectors only go into the housing one way. flip them around until they slot in and click

    • @brunospam2284
      @brunospam2284 7 лет назад

      Hi, thanks anyway for responding. Actually I found out that the connectors only fit into the housing one way. However I'm still struggling to get the connecters probably crimped. Which part of the connector has to be crimped and what kind of tools have you used to do so?

    • @JanisStrelkovs
      @JanisStrelkovs  7 лет назад +1

      I find that long nose pliers work best. there should be 2 bits on the connector that stick up, bend one in over the exposed wire then bend the other over that
