aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand three years later here's another dude with shorty levers in hand and a 2017 FZ out in the garage awaiting the upgrade. Thanks fer makin' this video!
I have had shorty levers on my FZ-07 since I purchased it used. They are very nice and look great with the bike. The old owner decided to go with gold levers on the glacier blue so I added some gold frame sliders and case covers to continue to pattern.
I was apprehensive about switching out my levers after growing tired of the OEM ones on my FZ07. Your video gave me the confidence to order new ones and they were installed and ready in less than 5 minutes. Great video!
Okay so I got these from Amazon for ONLY $27.00 for both. CNC machined and anodized. I think they look great. Please subscribe to my channel. More videos to come....
I use these exact same levers on my Fire blade and Grom, had a pair for my Ninja $300 too. Held up great, and a fantastic alternative to the more expensive brands. Cost $90 here in New Zealand (Roughly $60 USD)
I went back and forth whether to get the Chinese shorty's or just an OEM brake lever for my GPz. I settled on the OEM style and after seeing how flashy those look I definitely am happy about my choice. That would have totally ruined the slow old man's tourer look I'm trying for. I like the channel, subbing.
Awesome man thanks for the sub. I have other FZ-07 mod videos you may like also. Glad to hear you got the short levers installed. I was surprised on the quality and feel - they are very good. It's a good mod. Enjoy your ride.
1 more thing.check the rubber bush. Some after market ones look good but after installing i recorgnise that its not sit on properly and some how damage the rubber bush behind the levers.
I'm pretty new to biking and just fitted some shortys to my MT-07 today. My clutch lever doesn't snap all the way back like in the video. At first it didn't return at all and was stuck. I figured that might be down to tightening the nut too tight. Loosened it and now it springs back with maybe 2-4mm of the cable exposed. In your video when you release the clutch the lever mount sits flush to the cable mount and covers all clutch cable. Can anyone advise if this is a problem or provide tips on what I should be doing to get the clutch snapping back like that?
@@miguelaraujo2178 I’ve lubed the cable, the pivot and loosened the nut so it wouldn’t be too tight and it’s gotten better so try that and see if it gets better for you. I don’t think the nut supposed to be torqued too tight.
Is this literally as simple as this?? I can see from the clutch side that there is the wire with the 'ball end' that needs to go into the socket, but for the brake side, it was a bit difficult to see because of the camera view. You literally just line up the 'rod' into the hole in the brake lever, and that's it? If this is the case, should I be buying levers specific for my bike? (I have an XSR700, which is the same layout as the FZ/MT07 as far as the levers go)
I can't seem to manage to adjust the levers on mine i have the MZS shorty ones i got them used from a buddy but for the life of me i can't mange to click up or down the adjuster.
That looks absolutely amazing from the front with those bar end mirrors and windscreen. yesterday I think it was or 2 days ago when I brought up the Ermax set I was talking about the frame pieces. ruclips.net/video/wYyrJ1lFSZU/видео.html This link is a red one and he customized it with more then just the ermax kit. There is also another on that is the same model you have.

That sounds like a nice color combination.

+Chris MotorLife ... thanks for watching.
Hey, great video. Thanks! Which levers did you buy? I’ve ser a couple on amazon but I’d like to buy good quality ones!
Any issue after 5 years? Specially with the front brake, ive seen scary stories.
1 more thing.check the rubber bush.
Some after market ones look good but after installing i recorgnise that its not sit on properly and some how damage the rubber bush behind the levers.
Are those the sunpower controls via Amazon? Is there alot of up down play on both, and how do they perform after a couple of years? Curious
great job mate! thank you
Where did you get the levers sir? Thanks
Link to those awesome bar end mirrors please
My new clutch lever is not snapping back into place after installation! Any ideas about how to fix it?
Make sure it's the correct lever for the bike. Maybe try loosening the lock nut a little??
+MotoMerica Got it! I had tightened the bolt too much. Loosened it up a little and it works great. Thanks for the great video bud!
Enjoy your awesome bike !!
Try loosening the lock nut a little
Can you link me the Crash Protection sliders you have for the front, rear and mid you have on your bike ?
My shorty clutch lever shakes like crazy, previous owner installed it, any idea why its so loose?
Great review
how have they held up? any color fade? nice smooth operation?
Nope still looking new
The bushing won't fit in my new shorty levers. What gives. I tried.
Upon close inspection the shorty lever looks like have their own bushing.
You may have purchased a set that has a bushing. Try the install they should not wobble afterwards.
Whats the advantages of putting greece? For easy unscrew in future? Just asking
The bolts wont seize that way, and you can torque them better.
Also, the levers pivot on the bolts, so it's good to have some grease there to keep it smooth.
+Pedro Silva oh i see!! Thanks mate!!
Why does the clutch lever have a bushing and the brake lever not ?
Hey man where did you purchase your mirrors from?

Did you ever find a solution? Mine does the same thing. Stretched cable?
@@deegaw11 did you find a solution? im having the same problem, already lubed it but didn't work

when you have the clutch on setting 3 do you find it tougher or not as smooth through the gears?
+matt toronto ... I have not tried 3 yet. I will test it out. I kinda leave it where I had it.
Do you really need the grease?
What bar end mirrors are they?

+Justin Yang ... Yep I was shocked at how easy it was. 10 minutes.
Do this adjustable get closer to the grip than the stock lever allows?
+ShiftHer ... Yes they do. I can bring the clutch in so far that the clutch does not even engage ;)
hey, Are shorty lever same for every bike ?
+Ritesh Sharma ... nope you have to check for your model. Many of the same brand are the same.
Nice video.
+Roberto Neves ... Thanks. Keep watching for more vids soon.
What levers are they

What watch are you wearing in this?
Fossil
what the stock hand bars on the fz07 brother?

Do you have to put grease?
Just a bit on the bushing area.

+Old King Cole ... Bingo. Gotta love the colors and the price (until they break...lol)
what kind of wind screen is that?
+James Palmer ... It is made by GIVI and is the shorter version. I have a video on the channel of the install that has more info.
+MotoMerica thanks man!

+MotoMerica for sure! your bike looks sick man
