if you put few cloves inside a fresh lemon that you have cut it into half, the flies will be irritated with the smell. This is how we avoid having flies while eating in the desert. try it

@@michealmicheal2305woah I'm really late getting back to you, sorry about that! I would say personal preference, really. For one mug I would do maybe 12? It's not a great tasting tea on it's own, I've found I prefer adding cloves to other herbal teas like something with apple for example.
I make my favourite immunity boosting tea by grating maybe 1-2 teaspoons of fresh ginger(good for digestion & immunity) add turmeric (anti inflammatory), cinnamon, cloves (anitimicrobial & kills bad bacteria) add it all to a tea bag, cover in hot water and add a squeeze of lemon juice. I usually steep it for at least 5-10 minutes. I just eyeball it so I'm sorry I don't have exact measurements! Depending on how much you do the ginger burn can be strong but lemon balances it out really well. You can also add honey! I hope this helps! If you try it out and have any questions I'll do my best to answer them :)

Dear Jamie, like you said, clove and nutmeg are originated from Maluku islands in Indonesia. These spices were first introduced to the european market back in the 1500 by the Portuguese. The spices also kicked off hundreds of years of colonializm in the country. Its good to know that it is still a staple ingredient in the world of culinary. I suppose cloves are indeed small, but they definitely go a looooooong way.

They're one of the main ingredients in eggless-milkless-butterless cake. (Depression era recipe, not vegan!) While that's good, I personally can't stand the smell of cloves on its own. Super strong! It also has a numbing effect so is good to use for teething babies or sore muscles, and adding clove oil to the water is also the most humane anesthesia and euthanasia method for pet fish.
    Lots of uses.

guguigugu Frodo is correct. I only made mention of it not being vegan so as to not get people confused because of the title of the recipe. It's not a well-known cake, and mentioning that it is pretty much dairy free makes people nowadays associate it with "Vegan" and not the era it comes from.

I don't like cloves, it's cinnamon every time for me! Please do a video on what you can use cinnamon for!? Also due to the fad recently on all these nutribullet things I'd love to see a video on which is better for you to have it as a juice all mixed or to actually eat the fruit and veg normally? Love your work Jamie, thank you!

Because of cloves numbing effect they are a great detterent to animals who love to chew. Make an oil with cloves and rub the oil on whatever your animal likes to chew. The next time they chew their tongue will go a little numb, which they won't like, but doesn't hurt them. Then all you have to do is put clove oil on anything you don't want chewed and your animal will not chew on it. I've used this with 2 pups and it only took one time and they stayed clear of anything with clove oil on it.

Same principle with a toothache. Put a few cloves on/near the hurting tooth and suck on them a while. They will numb.

Well I was going to add the air freshener idea but Anne Waller beat me to it lol. I put a sliced orange, a few cloves, and a stick of cinnamon into the tea kettle and simmer it on the burner. They are also great ground up with fresh cucumber to stop the itching when you break out with hives. Alergies can be a pain but it really does help.

Hohoho! I thought about it for a moment, and for shame, I only have an outdoor bath barrel back in my cabin in the woods, and it's about covered in snow by now. No clove bath for me. But I did decide to toss some on the sauna stones along with water, for a bit of a clovy steaming.
I wonder if I should instead boil the throwing water for the sauna with cloves first to infuse it with the aroma, though. It might produce a headier result than just using loose cloves.
