You do realize you can just sell rolls already compatible with the bambu spool holders, right? I have literally personally contacted and queried bambu about this, they explicitly allowed it.

why not directly make eSUN 3D spools the same size as Bambulab? Also get rid of these new cardboard spools they do not work in the Bambulab AMS.

The Bambu printers make up a very small percentage of the consumer printer market therefore it doesn’t make sense to drop the cheaper card board spoils.

@@judd_s5643 that will change very very fast, eSUN better adapt or will miss the opportunity. It's already taking over. Also eSUN changed their ABS+ receipe and I heard from others that it's not that good anymore.

They are terrible - winding is poor, and the filament is caught down the edges of the spool causing binding. I built a respooler to rewind them onto old plastic spools so that you can use the filament.
Other, cheaper, brands make cardboard spools that work well - including in the AMS (which is pretty under-powered and finicky, in my view) - so it isn’t a problem that is too difficult to solve.

Not like there are any other printer brands

@@mewil1 you're right there are no more other brands than Prusa and Bambu Lab :-) It's like DJI drones and not really anything else out there. I don't want to seem arrogant, but why would someone waste money on mediocre stuff when Bambu Lab is soo affordable.

I just put electrical tape around my esun spools ,job done for me. Never had 1 issue.

The eSUN cardboard spools are terrible. The winding is extremely poor as the filament slips down the edges and binds badly.
There are (cheaper) brands that have cardboard spools that work correctly, so this is a big failure from eSUN.

I never had issues with them on my Voron. 🤷
Is this on a specific printer or general unsatisfaction?

The video covers eSUN in the Bambulab MMU system. My comment is in regard to the winding on the new eSUN cardboard spools (not the spool-less ‘refilament’) being terrible, which prevents the MMU from functioning correctly. I have only used the older eSUN plastic spools (two halves with bolts to join them) with the ‘refilament’, which has worked fine.
A different system that directly draws from the spool is unlikely to have issues with the cardboard eSUN spools. You can’t use them in the MMU, though. I use a rewinder, but will avoid eSUN where possible due to this problem.

When cardboard spins in the AMS, the friction causes wear to the edges of the spool, resulting in cardboard dust and debris going down into our AMS system, ultimately resulting in premature wear.

Just put electrical tape around the edge of the spool, and it gets rid of that problem .
It also allows it to grip on the ams rollers.
