    What impresses me about Foresty Forest that as his channel has grown over the years. Foresty remains humble & down to earth, other than losing most of his thick accent. I've unsubscribed from other new creators who become full of themselves once the channel starts to grow. Foresty & Rocko are the real deal and my favorite channel(s)

    No doubt others have answered already, but I thought I'd put in my bit as well. Being a life long electronics experimenter and ham radio op, I know a bit about electromagnetic fields. 🙂
    So any metal that is electrically conductive, will have an electrical current induced in it by a moving magnetic field. In something like a pan or pot, that 60 Hz flip flopping magnetic field, will induce a lot of electrical current along the field lines where it passes through the metal. Since no metal is a superconductor at room temperature and therefore has resistance, that current becomes heat.
    The metal itself doesn't need to be ferrous or magnetic, just conductive. You could put a flat bit of lead on that cooktop and probably melt it. ;-)

      Thank you, that is interesting..!

    • @trustnoone81
      @trustnoone81 2 года назад

      What confuses me is not so much that the heating works, but that the pot successfully disengages the safety. My impression was always that induction heaters sensed the presence of a pot using a permanent magnet unrelated to the coil itself? Or does the induction coil itself somehow sense a return field? That sounds a little dangerous, you wouldn't want the stove to heat up any old thing in which you can induce eddy currents....

    • @loughkb
      @loughkb 2 года назад

      @@trustnoone81 It's probably simply the distance. The field falls of following a log rule. For every doubling of distance, you have a 4X drop off in field strength.
      Get a few inches above the surface and there's probably very little heating at all.

The bridge had been pushed off its bases over winter and was not safe to use. I was a rigger for a part of my life so I worked with the crew to secure one end of the bridge to some very large tree trunks. I was looking forward to the helicopter ride when the bridge was returned after some modifications, but by the time that got underway I was already in the Yukon. @@forestyforest --- It is encouraging lots of people to tramp around off-road and off-trail near or in Jumbo Wild that is the issue. You seem to have little or no concern for the hundreds of hard fought battles that Western Canadians have fought since 1970 to preserve a now significant portion of British Columbia and Western Alberta from what you "intend to show me" on your next video. Myself and tens of thousands of other people in this Province know what much of it looks like, if you had hidden your "treasure" in a clear-cut, I would have said nothing, so do NOT get "smart" with us, Ontario transplant. You can save that for your viewers around the World, most of who did not even know BC existed before they found you. That said, you are OTHERWISE an excellent ambassador for the Wild-Lands of Western Canada and do a phenomenal job in photographing it for the World, it is your apparent lack of obvious environmental stewardship that rankles me. Case in Point: although you always keep a clean camp, you could be more overt about the neccessity of that, in order to protect the landscape and foraging wildlife, same with making it clear that campfires be made in an area well clear of brush as you always do, to prevent a forest fire. I am concerned that some of your followers may visit or migrate to BC and AB and not follow these important procedures.

      @forestyforest  2 года назад +6

      @@davidmarshall718 You are also a transplant, we all are. Dont get started with that. I've been a tax paying resident for three years now, we all start somewhere. In almost every video i post there are tree stumps in the background, BC has been severly ravaged by logging... and they are going deeper and further every year. In every single video i selectively show shots to hide the clear cuts and mining. So its mind boggling how your bothered by my microscopic impact, 50% of my audience is from USA.. there might be a couple people in the area willing to look. Overreaction of the year... have a drink, relax.

    • @davidmarshall718
      @davidmarshall718 2 года назад

      @@forestyforest ---- then instead of hiding the clear-cuts, show them, and talk about them. Tell how a good proportion of American houses are built with BC Timber. And tell the stories of how small groups of people are trying to save the small amount of what is left, to huge criticism from loggers who bleat "we (environmentalists) want it all (to be preserved)......." Go to the Incommapleux River Valley south of Revelstoke where one of the last untouched valleys of big-tree inland temperate rainforest is threatened by logging, and how a small group of locals are trying to save it. Yes, you triggered me, cuz with the fame you have comes a certain amount of social responsibility, and seeing as you seem to be a hiker and a camper rather than a logger and a strip miner, decide what side you are on............ you don't have to talk about it the whole video, but a few minutes would be nice, it is the pristine landscape and nature that is one of your big drawing cards in your videos. It is true logging and mining pay the bills for a lot of people in towns in BC, but they themselves have "logged (or painted) themselves in a corner" as serious reforestation did not start in this province until 1980. At least half the old-growth was cut by 1970. The miners I have less qualms about, but even they can cause problems, I am sure you have heard of the Mt Polley disaster. Now I do not expect you to be a spokesperson for the debate between the resource industry and the environmentalists, but some objective commentary covering BOTH sides of the debate would seem "timely", especially as your adventures take you right in the "physical" middle of it.

    Your invitation to your subscribers to find the "treasure" you buried based on the clues got me thinking about a book called "The Secret- A Treasure Hunt" published by Byron Preiss Visual Publications in 1982. It details clues to 12 secret locations in the US and Canada where twelve treasure boxes are buried Anyone who uncovered one of the treasure boxes was entitled to exchange it with Preiss for a precious gem. To date only three of the twelve boxes have been found. The author of the book Preiss died in 2005, his estate assumed the responsibility of honoring the terms of the treasure hunt. Preiss kept no record of the treasure boxes' exact locations before his death, leaving it a possibility that the remaining boxes may never be recovered. I purchased the book a few years ago with the idea of sending it to a brilliant nephew who lives in Colorado as a birthday present, but I never sent him the book for fear he might become so consumed looking for the treasure boxes it might derail his journey to college and beyond. Your subscribers might find the book intriguing See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Secret_(treasure_hunt)

But as far as cooking goes, like that too, but I gotta ask why all store bought when you live around so much abundance of county food, fishing, foraging and even some hunting would reduce pressure on your expenses,as you noted fuel is like gold now. Im not suggesting you kill a Moose and quarter it on youtube but add another level to self reliance. Just a thought, we like your contant, all best.

    "Ingen skam i å snu" - Like we say here in Norway about mountains. Meaning there's no shame in turning around, for good reasons obviously.
    Your added Rocko-cam, works great by the way, and lifted your already 10/10 cinematic footage to award winning levels.

    You should keep Rocco close by, she can fall into a hole, off a cliff, slide uncontrollably down a snowy slope etc. Show some good common sense ( on video) so we can feel at ease. If you lose or hurt that dog in any way whether it's your fault or not, you will lose me as a subscriber. Dog people watch everything, and some footage is disturbing quite frankly. I like you and your vanlife vids, but you have a baby now, be careful please. Use a leash in dangerous areas and around others.

    Where are all the sleuths at? All these comments and almost no one is trying to figure it out. 🤷🏻‍♂️
    He said a trail goes up from a "gigantic place", which I'm thinking refers to Jumbo Mountain. But then he says it comes down from a "most difficult" place. I'm sure that's also a mountain top he's referring to, but I can't figure out which one. 🤔
    It sounds as if he's referring to a trail that leads from the peak of Jumbo Mountain, then goes on to the "Most Difficult" peak. He said it wouldn't be toooo crazy of a hike, so I'm doubting he would put it on the ridgeline between peaks. So, I'm thinking it's down in that valley between Jumbo Mountain and Earl Grey peak?
    He said you set off "before a big splash", and "step carefully through another". I'm assuming he's talking about waterfalls, lakes, or rivers here - but which one? There must be a river or waterfall at the trailhead to one of these mountains. Then a second one down the trail a bit.
    Come on peeps, help me out. I live in LA, so I have zero chance of getting it, but it's still fun to play the game lol. It's just me and Google Earth over here. 🔍🕵️

As usual awesome and stunning photography. Rocko is a mini Foresty Forest at heart! "Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise.
