My parents had a maroon ‘92 Corsica they bought brand new…we are from Minnesota so that very well could be their old car! Doubt it tho as Corsicas were everywhere back in the ‘90s.
When we crush vehicles with rear drum brakes we always put one lug nut back on the hub to keep the drums from falling off. We had one, years ago, that came off a stack of crushed cars while it was on the flatbed going to the shredder on the Interstate. Cost us a lot of money to fix the car it hit. Just FYI if that helps you.
Dang that 64 was rusty! Glad to see the wagon was very stripped out. Still hard to watch her go though! And a Corsica! My mom had 2 different (same exact color combination!) '91 4 cylinder & '94 V6. I recall they were both great cars. We drove the '94 from Washington State to North Carolina, and back with no issues. Also drove both to California and back a couple of times. So I have fond memories of Chevy Corsicas!
I'm in uk and a scrap yard near me has an old renault 5, a porsche 928 and a vauxhall nova near the entrance. I asked the guys about them and they said they were keeping them if anyone wanted them. I think they said they'd been the 5 years or so. Anyway last time I went to weigh in some steel they'd gone. The giy said they crushed them as no one wanted them and they needed the space. It's wierd because here in uk those cars were popular back in the day. They were really good condition too with low miles, yet no-one wanted them. If you search them youl question why anyone would want them as they don't look like much. But it's all about childhood memories and younger years.
@@mikeh2006all three of those cars are sought after these days as you say. Assuming they weren't total basket cases, I would think either the scrapyard wanted too much for them, or they didn't advertise them. Letting them sit there and hoping a customer popping in will buy them isn't enough, they've got to be advertised online otherwise you've got little chance.
Good tp see your videos again! Amazing how that '64 Chevy (last of the X-frame big cars) just seemed to crumple like a paper lantern (granted, it was nearly 60 years old, but people claimed they weren't too strong even when new)
No people never claimed GM X frame cars were strong when new,those were the weakest cars around,they crumbled in every crash!! GM made the wimpiest cars back then! Chrysler products were the strongest then right behind them Ford products then a mile away were the GM X frame cars ,wimps.
To keep the vehicle from blowing out, it would help you to put inward dents at all the main points such as doors, b pillars, side of bigger vehicles like the van and rear corner. Otherwise great video!
That poor Dodge Van as a Moparian like me I woulda save it but it a B-Series van the body is weld to the frame rail not bolted in like a p/u and it been setting way too long the skeleton aka frame rail is way too beyond repair.
