The truth about bodega cats

- (Had to re-upload to add captions) - We all love bodega cats - they bring us so much joy! But many bodega cats do not receive the basic veterinary care they need. The best way to show your love for bodega cats is to help us make basic veterinary care more affordable for more New Yorkers.
Help us build a new affordable spay neuter clinic in Brooklyn:

something i really, *really* appreciate about your videos is that you take extreme care to make sure your audience remembers not to pass judgement on pet owners and community members who cannot afford to go to the vet or access spay/neuter clinics.
is online pet spaces, there's a common narrative of, "if you can't afford ___, then you don't deserve to have a pet", but one of the many things this fails to take into account is how companion animal bonds are often a necessity for survival, both for struggling humans and for rescued street animals. those bonds form in non-ideal environments, but they're better than the alternative: the human suffering from loneliness, and the animal dying in the street.
there are all kinds of very good reasons someone might have a pet who doesn't receive ideal veterinary healthcare: disabled people who are socially isolated from being housebound. housing insecure people who need loyal companionship. people who had financial stability until suddenly they didn't. struggling people who rescued animals from certain death into loving, homes, even if their healthcare is less than ideal. poor people not having access to transportation or not having time due to being overworked. people who don't have access to education about the importance of spaying and neutering and regular health checkups.
no reason justifies shaming the person for not magicking up accessible veterinary healthcare out of thin air. shame is not productive to getting the result we all want here; it just pushes the person further away and makes them less likely to engage with resources that might otherwise be helful. compassion and humility is a necessity.
Thank you so much for this comment!
Well said 👏👏 If anything the more information one can pass along the better instead of wagging fingers in shame. I recently helped my neighbor with a colony of cats she was feeding in her backyard go through the TNR program. She had no idea the types of programs that could be utilized. She told me she called the township because they have a TNR program but they are so overwhelmed and have a lack of volunteerism that they told her they wouldn't really be able to help until many months later. So I reached out to a community on Facebook for local TNR and I got responses right away from people willing to share their knowledge and show me the way to do it right. Lent me some traps and taught me properly. So we got all 13 kittens and 5 adults over a span of 3 months. It was so rewarding to be able to get them all. The mama was the hardest and last one to be caught. And purely by luck and my neighbor not following my no snack directions. I told her to hold off on food in the am bc it was a trapping day but she felt bad and I just happened to look out the window at the right moment to see her going out to leave some snacks so I ran over and armed the trap! So my neighbor took in two of the adults and found homes for all the kittens through a rescue organization. I recently moved but left her with some outside shelters for the other adults that still live outside and I'm still close enough that if any more unaltered cats come around I can go spring into action again. Also where I moved to I came across 2 ear tipped cats so I'm sure there is a feeder around somewhere in the neighborhood, which is nice to know they are some of the lucky ones as well.
@@Littabethy thank you for helping your neighbor TNR their colony. your work made a huge difference in both the health of the local cat population, and in the sense of community between you and your neighbors.
I find nothing to disagree with in your thoughtful comments. However, in this clip the business owner relegated the mother cat to a filthy basement with neither love nor secure, clean surroundings. I’m sorry, but I do condemn those actions. That poor mother cat was neither a companion animal, nor was she given the dignity of proper care that a true working animal should have.
It seems you didn't watch the same video I did. It's clearly explained that the owner refused the free treatment offered, resulting in the death of 2 kittens. If you are okay with this you are just as despicable as the store owner.
My apartment complex has a bodega just to the side, over covid, the previous owners (who weren’t the best) abandoned the shop with their cat in it, locked it up and everything.
When the place was bought by new people, that cat was found, in a bad way but still somehow miraculous alive. The complex took up a collection to raise the near 5,000 in medical bills for her and her 2 surviving kittens.
Mama Charlie, and kittens Little Bear and Soldier go home with the owner every night, receive excellent and an ungodly amount of attention by everyone in the complex.
And my heart breaks for every single cat that didn’t get that happy ending. Thank you for doing the work you do.
Hunt down the owners and sue/get them charged for animal abandonment/cruelty. Ask your local reference librarian how to contact-trace people: These people know EVERYTHING! Please and good luck!
Someone in the comments mentioned that we shouldn't necessarily judge people in regards to how they treat their pets, but to lock-up a living, breathing, sentient animal and abandon it to almost certain death really makes my blood boil. So happy to hear the new folks were so good to Mama Charlie and her babies. And how wonderful that you and everyone else in the complex raised an astonishing $5,000 for their care! Truly a happy-ending that every cat deserves.
Wow thats horrible they left the cat
So pleased for the outcome!
This made me tear up, it's horrible what happened to the cat and kittens but thank you to the new owners and everyone in the complex! That's incredible 😍. I hope they will live long healthy lives full of adoration 😊.
My corner store (bodega for all my us friends) has a wonderful kitty named MingMing. However the owner takes every good are of him. I will never forget how he grabbed up my leg when he was taken for his vet visit. The look he gave me after I dropped him in this carrier will stay in my memories for years to come.
he looked at you with his eyes and said "betrayer."
Bodega is just a New York city thing I'm pretty sure. I've never heard stores like this refered to as such anywhere else in the US. Corner-store is more common tbh.

@@pstrap1311 That's because it's a term used for corner stores in Spanish-speaking neighborhoods in NYC (usually owned by Dominican or Puerto Ricans). Now it's spread to any corner store in NYC and outside
Maybe bodegas could start putting out tip jars specifically for their cats? It could allow them to afford little cat houses for 'em. Maybe even some toys, too.
Honestly an amazing idea! I'm sure a lot of people would be willing to tip a dollar or two to provide a cat with a clean bed. No way to prevent sleazy shopkeepers from just pocketing the money themselves of course, but it's a nice idea :)
@@snakewithapen5489 yeah same thought. If people dont care enough to care for their cat to start with, it's a good way to garner sympathy while continuing to not care for the cat...
@@ozzy541 all pets like to play. Even work animals. I mean you wouldn't expect a human to work 12 hour shifts with no leisure time, you should still expect that (especially cats) will want some time off. Of course you don't have to spoil them, but it leaves cats restless and destructive to have nothing to do when they're not hunting, they're more likely to use that extra energy to shred things. Of course they might not get as bored as house cats if they have more space to roam, but they'll still enjoy a rope toy or a sprinkle of catnip from time to time.
That would be awesome!
Why do you think those tips will actually be spent on the cats
Cats with jobs isn't a problem imo. My problem is cats with jobs not being taken care of. I mean that's the whole problem with street cats anyways, cats not getting the care they need. Thank you so much for all you do
the whole problem with street cats is them decimating wildlife. I don't give a shit about them getting care or not, they can all die if they're outdoor cats for what I care. But they destroy local bird populations. They need to be taken off the streets and given homes just to keep them from wrecking what little biodiversity is left.
A brewery near me has a number of cats in their employ. They still don't really trust people, but they have a warm place to sleep, good food and water, a clean litterbox and vetrinary care. In return, they keep the rodents out of the grain warehouse. Fair trade.
i agree, symbiosis with other species is just part of being human. but if were going to be symbiotic we better make it worth the other animals while, right?
horses, farm cats, helper dogs, therapy pets, ect. are all valid but in return for them helping us we owe them a good old fasion pampering :)
@@mixusup Facts. i hate when ppl get an animal. then treat it how ever they want just because "its theirs now" like the animal didnt ask for you, you asked for it, at least have some respect.
The JC I went to has a colony of feral cats that they provide care for. Keeps the rodents away. I just wish they would let me pet them😭
We rescued an NYC bodega cat in 2020, she was barely surviving in appalling conditions. She’s such a sweetie now but she was very shy in the beginning because she was only used to people abusing her. Thanks for keeping an eye on the remaining bodega kitties of NYC
That's so sad. How can people treat an animal like that? Thank you for rescuing her and giving her a happy loving home!
Remember, if a cat isn't using a litter or sandbox, (they actually prefer to go in a sandy area and are naturally inclined to use one if it's available.) They are probably stressed. This can include having to share their space with animals or people that make them feel unsafe, being stressed about their family's behavior and marking their territory, as well as being ill or injured. It isn't always just bad behavior.
A dirty litter box is also a big problem. Cats don’t like walking in a minefield as much as we don’t, once they run out of clean litter, they’re usually forced to find somewhere else.
@@katiea545 AGREE! 100%
it can also mean that something about the contidion of the litterbox isn't up to their standards, for instance, if it isn't scooped often or kept clean enough, or sometimes cats only like to go in covered boxes
Bruh cats don’t need litter boxes they can just go in the bushes. Litter boxes are down right FOUL

I have my work-cat right here, lying on his bed, he's neutered and well fed, we've spent a bunch of money on vet bills, but he totally deserves it, no pests in the office and warehouse thanks to him. He is also always up for a head bump an a good de-stress petting session. Everybody loves him and I secretly think that he brings a spark of luck and fun to our business.

You should see what it's like in Asia. I see significant quantities of sick and dying cats and dogs on an extremely regular basis.
@@blindmown That's bc spay & neuter policies aren't as enforced...which they absolutely should be, they save lives but people love to complain.
I'm reminded of my time in Istanbul, and the many cats there. The city organizes care for all the cats, and many people put out food and water for them. There's nothing wrong with a cat earning its keep. The problem is when it doesn't get what it needs to survive when doing so.
Not a bodega, a machine shop, but I have a "shop cat" at my workplace. We take good care of her, make sure she gets food and water, and take her to the vet once per year. It's a huge building with lots of little places to explore and the occasional rodent (and plenty of bugs) to catch. She loves it here, and all the customers coming to drop off jobs and pick them up love her.
I've seen shop cats before, I always prefer them to a shop dog that comes and jumps all over you. Cat's are awesome

And the constant agony of dental problems (I know your pain there, little baby 🥺)
Whenever I disappeared as a child in a bodega my parents would find me with the official bodega cat.💕
It's so sad that mama cat went from having a home and a family to living in a basement. Even if the employees are doing their best to take care of her, those are very different lifestyles, must have been hard for her :/
The employees arent doing their best. The had dead kittens in their basement..
Yes, this happens in my Bodega. They don't spay or neuter and then the cat dissappears. Then they get a new one..... idk what to do because there aren't any resources to direct them to.... it's always painful to see a new cat in my local Bodega :(
It's so sad that they want to use the pet as a tool but don't even care about the maintenance of said "tool". Imagine how their refrigerators are maintaned
You should probably tell them that you think their treatment of the cats is wrong and that you will stop buying there if they don't change it.
If enough people stop going to their place because they treat their store pet so poorly, they will have to reconsider their actions.
I can't believe that no one doesn't do anything about it. Over here in Germany you would definitely get a visit from "animal protective services" and if necessary they would take them away and you could be forbidden to have pets again.
@@opiniononion919 Absolutely hilarious if you think that will stop the problem.
@@Tetragnathidae tbf, it might work well in other places. Small businesses in the US are struggling real bad rn as it is, so they probably don't care that much about the cats. Or, conversely, it may even have a slightly better effect now because of that.
@@RNCHFND Domesticated cats were utilities first and pets second. They deserve to be treated well, but don't distort human history. Cats were for pest control and by extension disease control and food safety. Domesticated dogs were for protection, hunting and herding.

It breaks my heart that those two kittens died because they had to wait to get access to them. These people are amazing for the work they do 🙏
I always thought bodega cats were brought to work by the store owners. Sad to think some are locked up in basements without veterinary care.

I just read your comments. I am glad that you wrote what you did. My take is a bit different: I DO understand the need for animal-companionship-I am owned by cats myself-but I put the needs of animals and children ahead of myself as they are innocents. There were these cats living in the basement way below street-level at The old World Trade Centre who were rescued from the stygian depths of that Hell after many years. They blossomed. Keeping a cat in a basement is crulety plain and simple. If you wouldn't put your children there, then you wouldn't put an animal there; both are precious and innocent beings.
the corner store down the street from me in Brooklyn has a kitten that lives in their basement, it drives me crazy and it looks very unwell. What could I do about this? Maybe Flatbush cats can pay it a visit, it’s in Clinton Hill off Myrtle 😢. Unfortunately I think people coming from nations where people don’t have the time or resources to care for pets, don’t really see the point in dumping tons of money into what is essentially a worker. My immigrant grandmother still has a hard time seeing my pets as a member of the family due to her upbringing, where animals were tools and resources, even the family dog was useless unless it is working. Not saying that all people who come from developing nations share the same sentiments of course… there are absolutely exceptions to the rule.
True, I've seen that too.
I just took care of my neighbor's vet bills. She is very grateful, she just couldn't afford it, and thanked my profusely. I thanked her for giving the cats a home. Could you or someone else possibly do this for that kitten? It's some of the best money you'd ever spend.
Please rescue that kitten?
I had the same thoughts but resisted mentioning it for fear of being called names. I have been to countries where cats are considered pests and are shot to death when there are too many of them. They are tolerated for their usefulness keeping rodents away but are not regarded as anything worth protecting or caring for.
@@shiroineko1566 that's a completely different thing. In places where cats are indeed pests them being treated as pests is perfectly normal. But wild pests are different from strays and abandoned pets
In brooklyn, I lived with a cat rescuer with 17 cats in our small apartment. She barely had enough money for herself but would steel catfood from petco. We spent a thanksgiving night in 30 degrees going out to random corners in the hood where she knew other cats lived. She would put out food and cats would come out of the woodwork. She also would place cardboard boxes with shredded paper in them. I miss NY. Thanks for the great video
People who neglect kittens while having access to free care should be prosecuted for animal abuse.
wait, you're telling me there's free veterinary care out there somewhere in USA? source?? please???
@@basedokadaizo They aren't as common, but some clinics do depending if they have space. I volunteer at one and we usually accept most cats. If they are friendly then we send them to a PetCo or foster home.
@@That_Nightmare big if true. i legit got led into getting expensive as hell insurance for my kitten when i first adopted him, and while i appreciate that it mitigates vet costs, i also am living the good ol american struggle and just trying to make ends meet some months. if i find a good clinic with free care for cats i'll have you to thank
Every time I watch these videos I always give my cat a snuggle and tell him how happy I am to that he's healthy and well taken care of.
The needs of people and animals everywhere - even in our own city - are beyond overwhelming. Perhaps, with small contributions from individuals online - will make a difference. And hopefully those blessed with bigger wallets may open their hearts & eyes to see the neglect & suffering so evident everywhere.
Or, we organise a system where people automatically give some of the money they make up based on how much they make for the betterment of society in an organised manner as individual action is meaningful but small in scope but collective non opt out action is much more effective.
I think you know where im getting at here

I'm so glad there are store owners willing to take in abandoned / stray cats. It's no "loving home", but shelter, food, and a kind hand is better than what a lot of strays in my community get.
Thank you guys so much for providing Free Healthcare for these cats lol
I feel like there should be an org dedicated to these cats, I'm sure that between customers' donations and bodega owners' paying the $200(?) fine there rather than to the city, covering spaying/neutering, shots and other incidental health issues should be possible.

Because of this channel, I've been inspired to help out the people in my community get spay/neuter procedures at a low cost.
I would have tried to sympathize with the shop owners if their negligence hadn’t already killed two kittens.
They didn't really ask for the kittens or the cat. Someone dumped it on them but they didn't even know that she could get pregnant. If the cats were on the street they would have been taken by animal control, and then some or all of them would be euthanized. People loving their pets in First World societies is a facade hiding the reality that is mass culling of feral and abandoned pets in the millions, as well as horrible factory-farming practices of animals in the billions.

Heartbreaking. Thank goodness for Flatbush Cats and others.
What sucks is that the USA, makes vet care so expensive. It's beyond reasonable. I live in Mexico, and my 4 month old pup got a virus, and it we took her to the vet, she stayed 3 nights, and got the best care needed. IV's, round the clock check ups, medication, and always had access to speak to the vet when I needed. In total the cost was $150 dollars. If this would of happen in the US, would of costed me at least more than $2000 dollars.
Poor mama cat... Thank goodness you found her!

I just updated my Amazon Smile charity to Flatbush Cats. Thank you so much for helping all the cats.
My cat was a former bodega cat she was so skinny when I got her I took her to a vet cleaned her up and will pamper her for the rest of her life
I visit NYC about once a year. Where I live, a bodega is more of like a small space to keep things cool, like wine. So I teach my students about NYC Bodegas and bodega cats. Where I live, having a cat in residence will get your shop closed by the health department so the students are enthralled with the idea. I really didn’t know they lived in such poor conditions. It’s really sad. I thought they had more free-reign.
yea my country cats aren't allowed in places that sell food.
Cat Cafes can exist because where the cats are kept are separate rooms to the food, there is probably more rules too that I don't know about to allow them to exist.
They’re working cats. That’s what we love our pets for. Giving us joy.
So sad for the kitties. Some people don't realize or can't afford the care. Rather than keep the cat in the basement all the time, suggest they just be sure he/she has access. Living in the basement with no people interaction or access to fresh air and sunlight can't be good for them.
If there are mice or rats, they WILL likely go down there to hunt. They just shouldn't be forced to stay there all the time. I have one who will spend hours in the mostly finished basement and bring mice up only to let them go so they can 'play' with it. 🙀 We live in a very wooded, sparsely populated area, so if I can snag the mouse, contain it for a day or 2, it gets a second chance at life somewhere else away from my house!
I do wish the local shelters here were not being such jerks. One place decided I was too old to adopt young adults and won't even talk to me (I'm not that old!) The other dithered around for a month and said no with NO reason provided. Now I'm still waiting for my 180 deposit back, probably dragging their feet on that too.
Went to another place and they would have let me take the bonded pair I was seeking home that same day!! I hadn't set up yet (they recently came in, were still scared and need slow intro to current cats), didn't bring carriers and since I already had set up a vet appt, I wanted to only disturb them once, so pick up, go right to vet then home to quiet covered pen (4*4, lots of room for litter, food, water, baza bed, covered cubby and a comfy bed - more space than that second shelter provides!!)
If I lived closer, I would have tried to get a pair from Flatbush Cats! You know you're getting good ones!!
As noted before, my donations are done year end, when I'm sure there's a little extra. ALSO - recommended anyone who uses Amazon to use their smile Amazon (use dots between those with com) you can set up the shelter you want, use search box to find it. It does NOT cost anything, doesn't raise your prices. They donate a small amount for many items (not all) I don't use it much really, but had it set to that second shelter. Not any more! Currently going to new shelter, but won't do much. I encourage others to consider it for their purchases and tell shelters to recommend on their website.
Really shows you how these creatures became a part of our civilization, they hunt rats, protect our precious products like food, and offer us a deep connection to an animal we wouldn’t have under normal circumstances. Bless the kitties

I respect anyone doing their best to take care of an animal. It's so different from abuse. So many of these people rent too and I'm sure there are fears that the landlord will fine them or kick them out for having a cat in these areas, or taking them home. This is literally a charity for handing out basic health care to low income residents. New York City should fund or donate to this.
this is so wonderful. its not a "if you cant afford a cat, dont have one >:(" situation, because thats too simple. its the fact that these cats are here, better or worse, and people are doing what they can for them
Thank you so much for what you did for that mother and her babies, my heart broke when I saw and heard that they were not taken care of and those poor kittens that didn't make it..
I love how much you emphasize NOT JUDGING other pet owners. So many other rescue advocates fall into the trap of blaming individuals instead of the societal causes of the problems their trying to address. The constant holier that thou attitude can be so off-putting even if people are doing genuinely good work.
New York City makes stray cats live in awful and sad conditions? Who’d have guessed. Especially the “we still need one to take care of rats but aren’t willing to provide them any sort of medical care at all”. Glad you helped some.
Some Korean businesses care for community cats or adopt them as business cats. Many are not fixed, though, or given medical- just food and shelter. I prefer to put my time and money in TNR- one cat at a time. I give my TNR cats a round of vaccines.

Just want to say that it is okay for cats to work. Many cats have jobs and live a good life. Ask Larry, the 10 Downing St. chief mouser.
As you mention many times, education, assessibilty, and affordability are key.
Having mousers is perfectly fine, that's why they got domesticated in the first place. But as workers, they still deserve their own share of benefits!
It's not physical money as it is with people, but it includes the basic necessities of life like shelter, 'hazard pay' (proper veterinary care) and food and water, in return for their valued service. You can't neglect them just because they're animal workers, they still deserve respect and consideration :)
It is like the kitten is trying to protect mom from the terrifying hand.
Every bodega has a happy one where i live. Greets me every time
as weird as it may seem, seeing these types of videos makes me think that me and my cat have more of a bond then we actually do, sure he’s not the typical “sleeps in bed on top or next to human” or “head butts human and tried to climb up leg when wanting to be held” kinda cat, but i think i know he loves me, he is also about a year and a half now and i assume once he gets older and started to be less crazy and slows down with life he’ll definitely start to become a cat that likes to lay in bed and cuddle, im really glad that these cats are getting the chance they need to survive and have a king healthy life, their gonna be with someone for the next 20 years and i’m hoping my boy will be with me for the next 20 or so years as well.
You guys are the best. Im so glad I give every month and to see that everything helps these fur babies. ❤️❤️🐱
Can you tell us how much you've raised for the spay neuter clinic, and how much is needed to fund the clinic construction and through the first year?

I know, from personal experience, down here in Melbourne, Australia, the abandoned kitten problem has changed a lot. Maybe 20 years ago, you'd always come across litters of kittens under/around the nearest abandoned property or space. I had grown up with a cat always at home, and there was always someone who had kittens to give away. Since spay/neutering has become the norm, you simply don't see that anymore.
Recently, I decided to adopt a new kitten after a while without a cat. These days it was harder to find kittens and the shelter I used had me complete long questionnaires before agreeing to let me get a cat.
Just wanted to share my experience because it really has changed a lot since I was a kid and it's great that those kittens born have the best chance of being part of a caring family.
I'm from Germany and I've never heard of bodega cats. It's truly great that you guys are taking action for these little beans!
You are beautiful people, thank you so much
Yeah i'm gonna judge them 🤷♂️ it takes no money to atleast clean that basement up and he earns enough to provide a place to rest, if cats get fed and have a clean, warm place to sleep, they don't normally just die or get eye infections. I understand expensive vet appointments but don't blame the rest on being poor, even poor people don't treat their animals like that.
Some eye infections can even be handled with simple, cheap home remedies. Not all of them, and it’s best to take them to the vet for sure, but one time two of my cats randomly got eye infections- but not the third. I found out what type of infection it was after a vet visit that took a bite out of my pocket and got some nice medication for both. Later on it reoccurred in them both- as was warned may happen- but I had no more eye medication and still didn’t have quite enough money. I consulted the vet and did some research on the infection it was and found that people had used a green tea and honey mixture to cure it- just a few gentle warm droplets every here and there through the day until symptoms subside- and a little after to keep flare ups from occurring. You know what? The damn thing worked like a charm! Within what, three days? The infection was gone- though, I suspect the type of honey I used may have sped up the process somehow. It was green tea and Manuka honey, which is also noted for having some extra healing qualities to normal honeys. Easy peasy, just requested a chonky little syringe (NO NEEDLES. LET ME EMPHASIZE THIS.) to give some droplets in each eye. Both resources were things I already had, I bought the honey unaware of what a cool thing it was a while prior and my mom likes green tea- but it was probably ten bucks tops for the medicinal resources.
Addressing any even slightly odd behaviors or discomforts at the start or as close to it as you can get, can save you tremendously as well- not waiting until something is bad. That’s how I discovered my third cat who didn’t have the eye infection was a diabetic- she squatted outside one day and struggled to pee. And this cat? She pees like a horse on the regular, so even slight straining was a big oh no. Turns out it was too much sugar in her urine so bacteria was having a blast in there- but it was caught early and the cost of the visit wasn’t as bad as it could have been if I’d waited longer.
This one pissed me off because they could have taken five minutes to google and read something on cat care and at least TRIED a benign and gentle home remedy with sensible things, as this even works on humans apparently, potentially saving the lives of the kittens. They could have set up a jar for tips that would go straight to feline veterinarian care- might not make a lot at once, but building up the stash would also be a smart move. Trying to give the kitty nicer and cleaner conditions is a must- imagining themselves as the animal in their care is a must, to ensure they’ll have at least a nice enough time in their company. I wish they’d really tried.

I’m so sorry about all of these cats in these situations. Thank you for making me more aware.
I'm glad someone is helping these cats, most people don't put any thought into their well being.
Как здорово, что есть такие заботливые люди!
Prayers for all those precious fur babies ♥
Honest question: aren't bodega cats really unhygenic? It seems kinda strange to let them all over food.
Yeah, but if you're going into a store knowing there are cats walking around, I would hope you would be sensible enough to wash your produce before eating it. You should always be washing produce regardless 😬
human hands are all over that food as well, you should wash it regardless
Hope all are going well with the donations to build the hospital. Peace DVD:)
I've missed seeing the videos about the kitties. Most I'm viewing now are only some months old...
Thank you ... I live outside America but have already donated.
I hope one day, all the cats get the same treatment and protection by law like here in Germany.
I am proud to help with a contribution to the cause. No living being, neither human nor cat, deserve to suffer.
I live in Philly and most of our corner stores have been taken over by bodegas but I have yet to see any bodega cats. But as more and more New Yorkers move down here, I’m sure that will change too. But, I hope they take care of them.
The true care for the cats to do everything without judgement :(
It’s maddening
Disney should make a movie (a funny delightful one) about these bodega cats from New York City to bring attention to their plight. Make a movie similar to the Aristocats.
I’d never met a bodega cat 😮
Because you're not from New York city that's why you never heard of a bodega cat
In my country (South Africa) they're called corner cafés. Last year I got two kittens from one of these cafés neutered, provided litter trays and bedding, and visited them every day. The owner asked me to foster them while he went home to Pakistan. He decided not to return, so ginger Billy and tabby Baghini are happily mine for life. Flatbush Cats are earth angels. I pray as many viewers as possible donate to their affordable neuter clinic in Brooklyn 🙏🏽❣️
