Been following Bromberg since 1977. Have seen him at least 100 times, it never gets old. David is the luckiest man alive, he's never missed a Bromberg show
I was at this show. He loves playing at the Count Basie. Looking forward to seeing him there in October. This was the 2nd of 3 shows in 4 days that I attended on this tour.
Been a fan for as long as he's been around .......what's not to like , one might ask ? Top notch players having a great time taking you on a musical journey through all types and styles of music in one very entertaining evening
"Hey sober up over there Ferman, child you're a mess! He says he don't drink no more and I know for sure that John don't drink no less!" baahahaha love me some Bromberg!
I love playing music with David, it's always a great experience.. You never know what tune is next.. it's keep everyone on their toes and everyone brings their A game..
I was there too, and there was one hell of a blizzard going on when the show got out. I took mass transit out of Newark, took less than an hour to get there, took almost 5 to get home, but well worth it!
I saw him in Sacramento. (I've seen him several times). It was "The David Bromberg Quintet, but a few songs in he said "folks, we're gonna get a little crazy here" and all of a sudden his big band was on stage. What a show.
if you're a blues addict, this has to be one of your favorite all time tunes ! this ad-libbed, extended version of the blues classic just hits the spot......play on !
AHHHHHH!!! David Bromberg has made me laugh for at least 40 years!! How wonderful to see him still dishing out great music with a helping of much needed humor! What a great lineup of musicians as usual!! Thanks for the post!
First time I saw this local legend was in Boston in 1975. I was hooked ever since. I try to see him every year when he comes back home to Tarrytown, NY. and the Music Hall, Big Band in tow!
So.... let's say you're a record store owner in 1980. Where do you put David's records? County? Folk? Big Band? Rock and Roll? Blues? Any and all of these, I'd say.
"You over there on the saxophone You know you're a real mess He says that he don't drink no more But I no for sure that that child don't drink no less". - Great Verse
Looking forward to seeing Dave next week, 3/20, it's been a long time since the Shaboo Inn days! Actually the last time I caught you live was Aztec Two Step's 15th Anniversary at the Unniv. of Hartford in 86'... I'm so glad I'm back here in CT. when your coming through!
Amazing musican, and like zombie baby doll, have followed and loved DB for years, saw him last Saturday at Stone Pony, he still nails it, bought his new CD, still fresh. I'd post the pict of me and Dave, if there was a way.. Jeff
The quick blurb at the end where Mr. Bromberg is speaking is sweet! I have enjoyed his music for years, since I was about 18. A sweetheart of a man turned me on to this guy and I have been a fan ever since! Thanks for posting this. I still have the original How Late'll Ya Play Till? double record vinyl album I cherish!
I got turned onto this making donuts in the late 80s by a dj on wysp in philly named rick allen, he played all kind of great stuff. seen him 3 4 times always awesome
On a train from Buffalo, heading to David Bromberg's birthday bash in NYC. He's playing with his old friend, Jerry Jeff Walker, I hope they play "Mr Bo'Jangles"!....David doesn't take requests during his performance, but he does if asked ahead of time. David, if you're reading this, you are not just a great musician, you are an artist!!!
I've heard David disparage himself as a songwriter. He'd better not say that shit in front of me! Anyone who can write Demon in Disguise, Sharon, and Kaatskill Serenade is master of the craft.
Its as if its against the law for people my age (16) to like such good music like this. Whats up with that!? Also, I'm an ex-trombonist so "Low brass kicks arse!"

Just wanted to drop in to say Rest in Peace John Firmin. A great musician & longtime member of the Big Band.

I loved this man and band when I was much younger. I followed him like he was the Grateful Dead.

I've been a fan since the 70's. I never get tired of it.
I have been seeing the Big Dave Band do this song since the '70's always a blast.
They have so much fun with it every time.
