HI. I'm 11 years old.I followed this tutorial and made an octopus for my little brother within 2 hours. I think this project is really cute and it is absolutely beginner friendly. This was my third-ever crochet project and I succeeded from the first try. All you need to know so that you can make on of these octopuses is this: single crochet, slip-knot, slip-stitch, and the chain (in US terms)

    For anyone that needs this:
Round 1: Mr of 7 sc (7) or slip knot, ch 2, 7 sc into 2nd chain from the hook (7)
    Round 2: inc x7 (14)
    Round 3 & 4: 14 sc (14)
    Round 5: (1sc, 3 dec) x2 (8)
    Add eyes
Round 6: sl st in the next front loop, (ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch from the hook) repeat 8, sl st into last stitch (or 1st tentacle)
Cut your yarn tail at least 15 cm or 6 inch, pull yarn through
    Stuff your octopus
pull yarn tail through the octopus into the opened circle
pull yarn tail through each back loop of the tentacles
close any hole left and secure by taking your yarn through the head of the octopus in different sections multiple times.
(if you don't understand how to close it, skip to the end of the video. I tried explaining as best as i can)

This is so cute. I have not finished video yet. I have a question. What difference does it make when you do a yarn under vs a yarn over? Does it have to be made that way? Thank you 🌷

Doesn’t have to. It’s just a style preference. You can google it so see the differences both techniques!
