Cream cheese is the main ingredient in cheese cake, a dessert. Sweet cream cheese is a dessert. It is way better than what you are making it out to be. Americans know good food, trust us, sweet cream cheese is the bomb.
WAIT L3WG thinks cream cheese with fruit is gross…BUT what is MARMITE? On toast…and do not get me started on how BLAND beans on toast is (a British co-worker said to get full British experience you have to get the Heinz VEGAN beans - bland AF)
@@johns7283It may be bland on it's own, but my normal breakfast always has rice, and beans. I scoop it all up on my buttered toast, and it's delicious. I'm American born and raised btw.
Flavored cream cheese is very good. It hits very differently than regular cream cheese. A toasted plain bagel with honey pecan cream cheese is absolutely to die for.
Lol I feel the same way. I just want to get him and bring him here and feed him lol. The north and the south eat differently also and this girl doesn’t know this
Many people in the US don't trust Big Pharma so you are not the only one who doesn't trust them. For all the ads you see for X medication, you see just as many ads for lawyers suing the drug companies. 😂 It is hilarious! Ohhh, we are all about coffee here in the US! I adore the incredible coffee culture here!
So what’s wrong with knowing about adverse side effects ? That’s when you research medication that even your doctor prescribes. Do you just take whatever you are prescribed without looking up possible adverse effects? Does your doctor go over all possibilities with you?
I like that we have the ads because it causes Big Pharma to expose themselves in ways they never would otherwise. They would just make back room deals with hospitals to force doctors to promote their products. Now they have to share all the lovely side effects of their drugs. And hearing that list on a commercial is way more impactful than getting some pamphlet with tiny print from the pharmacy that you’re unlikely to even read.
@@cherylkruisheer3365 That's not the purpose of the ad though, it's simply a requirement that they include it and they do their best to downplay it with hopeful sounding music and warm family imagery. Their goal is to get you to ask your doctor, so as to influence their decision on what to prescribe... much like toy companies used to advertise to children on saturday morning TV. Doctors are just as much consumers as we are, with a variety of drug choices available on the market they can prescribe for the same condition.
Okay, something she's completely wrong about is using a check because "you don't want others knowing your bank account number." That is exactly what the numbers on the bottom of a check are... a routing number (unique to each bank) and a checking account number.
Same! I was like have you not watched Mythbusters where they tested your toothbrush that is in the bathroom to see if there is any fecal matter. Even though it's nowhere near the toilet and never touched the toilet, they found fecal matter. Needless to say, I'm not drinking the water from a public bathroom.
It's not cheese like mozzarella or cheddar cheese. It's cream cheese that people will often put on bagels! I can't believe you've never heard of it before.
Something she probably didn't know is that the water fountains are refrigerated and filtered. Sometimes cold enough to give you a brain freeze if you find one of the old ones that someone overcharged with refrigerant.
honestly the sweet cream cheese is basically like you're eating a cheesecake for dessert & it's actually super good. The blueberry cream cheese & strawberry cream cheese is actually good I swear. It's like our equivalent to British Scones with cream and jam. Same deal. But it's not like a regular cheese because it's creamy and not like a strong "cheese-cheese". You have to try it!
The cream cheese is really simple. People liked to spread cream cheese and jam on their toast, bagel, crackers, or whatever. So, Philadelphia simply decided to combine the two into a single spread.
1.) What Europeans say about America: "It's crazy that you have ads for prescription medication on the television." What Europeans are saying about themselves: "We have to make everything illegal because we can't be trusted to think for ourselves." You do realize that you can't just go to the local pharmacy and pick up these medications. You still have to get a prescription from your doctor. Feli, I am sorry honey, but we also believe in facts and doing what is best for ourselves here in the states. Ads don't change that.
True but it does mean that basically the pharmaceutical industry owns all of our media. But at least they're forced to tell us the side effects even if they do go through them super fast.
They probably don't even know what medications they take or have a say in what they get prescribed. They think "facts" are whatever their government and the "experts" tell them.
Have you never had toast with cream cheese and strawberry jam? Same idea. It’s great. The tartness of the cream cheese and the sweetness of the strawberries. Like cheesecake with strawberries. So next time you put cream cheese on your toast top it off with some strawberry jam. The drinking fountains are not in the bathrooms. I still write checks but I also use electronic bank transfers. Yes, we have screen/storm doors.
I still can't imagine putting cream cheese on any variety on regular bread. 😂 That said, when you say "jam" do you mean real jam, or the jelly they call jam in the UK? 🤔
Checks are less common in the US now, but its generally a good idea to still have a checkbook stashed away in your home somewhere. You can generally pay utility bills online. If you want to mail money to your grandkids, or something like that, it's best to use a check. Mailing cash is not allowed (and a bad idea anyway). A lot of people still use checks to pay people who come work on your house as well.
Yup. Basically only used for renting from old timers, security deposits, buying a car at a dealership, or purchasing a house. Or when submitting a form for that needs payment.
I'm American and I hate coffee or anything that has a hint of coffee flavoring. I even hate coffee ice cream and tiramisu. It tastes like burnt dirt. I don't know how else to describe it. But nobody's going to be banning me!!! LOL!
I worked in banking from 1997 to 2019. Only the last 4yrs as a teller supervisor, the rest of the time was in check processing in one department or another. The use of checks now mainly seems to be older people who are afraid of using autopay or online pymts. Saw departments downsize, outsource and close because of the decline in the use of checks. PS…I have had all my tax returns direct deposited to my account for at least the last 15 - 20yrs
In my opinion it really does not matter. What is so horrible if you want to use a check? In the US people want to have there options, and so we keep them.
I still work in the checks processing department of a small credit union and I can assure you it's not just old people lol... average per day for our mobile deposits is like 800-1000 checks.
Water fountains have been around for a long time. Way before water bottles were a thing. Back then the closest thing to a water bottle was an army canteen.
It’s not about self diagnosis. It’s about people who have already been diagnosed given options to talk to your doc about. I have psoriasis and like the ads because I know what’s available. Love your channel.
@@Richiedagger87 But,That’s great but most times the side affects don’t affect you. You have to use common sense and not run off in hysteria about things. Be informed but not paranoid.
Prescription pharmaceutical ads are a way to become aware of new medicines and are meant to be a starting ground to open a discussion with your physician of what is new and if it would be useful for you. You do NOT self medicate these are prescription drugs only available with assistance from your doctor if they feel it is appropriate.
Exactly. I hate the pharmaceutical ads- but then again I hate most any kind of ad. But it's just information. It means you can ASK your doctor if that medicine would be good for you. Europeans seem to really have a hard time understanding some very simple things!
I work as a bank teller and checks are still pretty common. I don't see "quite" as many with younger generations, but businesses tend to use them quite a bit, as do older generations. I'm in my 20s and use checks as well, but only for certain things. And there are still landlords who have their renters pay with checks as well. She's absolutely right - we still use them.
Thank you. I was about to say something similar. I work for a bank as an inbound customer service representative and, yes, there are a number of people who still use checks, ESPECIALLY, a good amount of people who do not use a computer or cell phone to access online banking. There is a good probability that the woman’s landlord was one of these people and that was the reason for the request. However, there is such a thing as preauthorized checks - done through online banking BILL PAY where, if a person or company does not have an account number, then one’s bank will print out a preauthorized check, place it into an envelope with a stamp, and postal mail that to the addressee.
Yep. If I send a check to my kids school for lunch money, it's $20 on his account and costs $20. If I use the app, it's $22.75($2.75 in fees, not on his account) and only $20 ends up on his account. Doesn't seem like much but do that often enough with enough bills and you're out a lot per year just for fees.
Checks are extremely common here. You can choose to receive a check for when you get paid from work. You can use checks at banks and Checks are also used when shopping from time to time if you don't have your card/money on you. Just write a check, give it to the cashier, and they do there thing. You can also use checks to pay rent as She stated if your renting an apartment. Now personally I don't use checks, I typically just pay or get paid electronically however its not uncommon to receive a check.
I think most Americans also hate commercials for prescription medication. But just because they are advertised, doesn't mean that's the med we get when we ask. A doctor might say "I think this other medication would be better for you because..." etc. We trust our doctors more than the TV (well, most of us lol) but you can't just GET a medication unless your doctor prescribes it for you, so there's no way you are diagnosing yourself, then getting a medication for it. That's not legal here.
We also can bring up the side effects because we know them now and a lot of doctors (not all) are paid well by Big Pharma so their opinion isn't always in your best interest.
The only medications people just "try to see of it works for them", are typically allergy medications. But that only works for people unlike myself where the need for "prescription-only strength" runs in the family. 😅
Agreed. I hate them, primarily because there's so many of them! I also am flummoxed by the one's that are for , to my mind, conditions that are more uncomfortable or inconvenient than serious that have two dozen very serious possible side effects, lol . Still, information is good and knowing about medications that might be useful to treat your medical conditions gives a good place to start real dialog with your doctor, so...👍
Considering how often doctors prescribe things and not warn the patient about potential side effect. I'm actually okay with the ads. Because by law they are force to name the side effects. While the doctors tell you what they want. And not once, in over 30 years going to doctors I've been warned about side effect before I get them. Me and family members had have very bad experience with side effects that the doctors refuse to warn even tho we asked about. And also, yeah. A lot of them are paid by Big Pharma. And I don't mean them directly. I mean, I'm sure that happens. But pharmaceuticals tend to make "donation" to hospitals and clinics. So doctors are incentivize to prescribes their brand of a medication. Even if its not the brand that your plan covers, this has happened to me many times. Or brands bio equivalents, That don't work the same as other with the same active ingredient or that one give you side effects that the other doesn't. So as annoying as they are. They are at least very educational. Heck , there are a lot of people that didn't knew that their anti depressants could give them suicidal thoughts and make their mental struggles even worst.
2.) Keep in mind that Every major city has there own TV stations and staff. They are affiliated with one of the corporate stations, like ABC, NBC, CBS or FOX, but they provide a lot of programing for their location and region, especially news. The ads are regional because the ads come from businesses within the region that that particular station broadcasts to. We do not have a state-run stations like in Europe. Our "press" is free in theory.
Germany doesn't have bagels, because bagels are Jewish in origin. Something happened in the 1930s and 1940s that made Jewish people somewhat uncommon in Germany.
You pay your rent by checking online OR by paper check because it's an automatic receipt once it's cashed. Paper checks are mailed because the envelope has the date stamped on it which must be dated before the 5th of the month or the landlord can add a late fee.
Flavored coffee creamer. I don’t drink coffee, but my family does. During Covid, I did the shopping since I was still working, I remember going to the store and being on the phone with my sister and asking what flavor they wanted. There must have been 30+ flavors of coffee creamer in the refrigerator she ended up picking 8 flavors! It is amazing the types - from Hazlenut to Snickers. Even as a non-coffee drinker I can see the appeal.
Regarding regional ads, please note that national TV networks in the US have local affiliate TV stations in most major cities. While these stations show advertisement relevant to anyone regardless of location, they also show advertisements relevant only to people in the region they serve (such as local events, local institutions, local products and businesses, etc.).
Yes, to me a water fountain is a water feature that is artistic in some way. What she showed is usually called a drinking fountain by most of us... meant only to quench your thirst. Although, it's hygiene & sanitation came into question many years ago. If you've ever watched little kids drinking from one, you'll understand the reasons why.
Drinking Water Fountains are very common in schools, restaurants, especially in like road stop/gas station centers, like Buc-ee's for example, but most of all, they're at Theme Parks a lot. Think about it, in most Theme Parks it gets really hot in those climates, so having water fountains around are a life saver sometimes. And there're usually near a Restroom. Sometimes even on the outside wall of the restroom.
It;s weird that she freaked out about drinking directly from a water fountain but has no issue with getting water from a sink in a bathroom. Nobody's carrying a water bottle with them literally at all times so having a way to get water in those situations is just being accessible. It's not that difficult to comprehend.
Back when I was in elementary school (decades ago) you weren't allowed to have a water bottle. The concern was that you might accidentally (or "accidentally") spill the contents on your books, schoolwork, yourself, or a classmate. So getting water from the fountain between class was your only option.
I pay about 80% of my bills electronically, but I prefer to write checks for certain bills such as for repairmen, contractors and miscellaneous vendors were I don't have a regular account. If I want to send a friend or relative money, I'll send them a check also. It may be an older form of payment, but it works for me.
I agree. Every now and the my mom writes me a check cause she has money to spare. I take out my phone, open up my bank app and take a snapshot of the check which then processed within three business days. I then shred the check after it's processed keeping it in a secured place until then. Of course, there was one time when she did send me money via money app. That was more convenient haha. Either route works.
It’s so funny that she that she talked about time zones and regional television broadcasts. So, New Years watching parties run over 4 hours to watch all 4 time zones. I just realized that it’s not a norm 😂
I am nearly 40 and I haven't used a check or a checkbook since I was like 16. And the only reason I used it then was because my bank at the time would not issue a debt card to anyone under 16. Checks are not used a lot in the US. A few rental companies and government businesses require a check because the paper trail is how they track those transactions.
Think of the “sweet cream cheese” thing like a charcuterie board with fruit on it. It’s like a sweet savory thing. It’s basically just like crushed pieces of strawberry already mixed in to it. Also cream cheese on toast or bagels & you put fruit jelly on top of it. It’s great!!
Having a brother and sister in the pharmacy industry, they've noted frustrations that pharmaceutical companies prioritize drugs that are profitable over those that are effective. If there are two drugs they'll bury the one that will profit them less even if it works better.
Yes, the all of those sweet cream cheese flavors are delicious! They’re very dessert like. I’ve included the strawberry cream cheese baked inside vanilla cupcakes and they’re addictive!
I recently started watching your vids and found that it's quite kewl how you're so interested in our country. I'm waiting for you to go from theoretical (vid reactions) to practical (being in the USA).
Also, flavored cream cheese is delicious! It's a sweet treat you can put on bagels, toast, English muffins or whatever else. It's hard to describe, you need to try it and I think you would like it!
Screen doors serve 2 purposes. most of them have a separate lock so it gives you another layer of security, if someone is trying to get into your house they have to get past that first layer and it makes noise. Also, in the summer if you want outside air, you can open the inside door and have the window up on the screen door so air gets in but bugs and pests dont. It is also called a STORM DOOR because it creates a barrier between the entry door and very hard wind and rain.
@@davidstephan5116 where im from people use the term screen door and storm door the same. mine have safety glass in them and a screen that can be installed.. we dont use the screen but leave the glass in and it has a dead bolt. so to get to the main door a person would have to break the glass and the cut through the lamination to unlock the dead bolt and then deal with the actual entry door. Time and noise before they get ot the entry door.
I'm in California and yes we use checks. All of my landlords were pailed with mailed checks, I have utility bills that require checks, where I work 95% of our customers use checks to avoid credit card service fees, and I've seen people write checks at the supermarket.
Usually older people. I own my home, have bought multiple cars and have otherwise gone through life without ever owning a check book. Checks are generally unnecessary in todays age. I live in Texas for reference
I live in Ohio, and our grocery stores don't take checks. I still use checks myself for the utility bills and my mortgage. Just trying to do my part to keep the postal service afloat.
@@briansmith48Hey there, neighbor. A western Pennsylvanian here. I have not written checks for years - since around 2002. But that is only because if I have to write a check to someone, I use Bill Pay with online banking to send a preauthorized check. I did this in order to pay the man who mowed my mom’s lawn. Her residence is about 919 miles away. Also, when an Alaskan relative had passed away and I had needed to pay an Alaskan probate lawyer, I paid who with that preauthorized check. That way, I am not wondering how much stamps are. 👍🏽😉
I'm in Cali and I've rarely had to use a check. Maybe like 5 over two decades. The last time was several years ago when I couldn't get Venmo to work on my tablet outside my apartment to pay a vendor. Otherwise, I transfer my rent, I pay my utilities online, I have my tax refunds direct deposited into my bank account, etc. I rarely see anyone even use one at a grocery store. Not saying people don't use them but it depends on each person's situation.
We still use checks. Some grocery stores will take a local personal check. I use checks mostly for transferring money between accounts. There’s no fee for doing a check deposit where wire transfers have fees. I also pay some bills using personal or bank checks for companies that don’t take electronic payments. I’d say I mostly use electronic vs checks but they are still useful even in 2024.
I've had a checking account since I was 17 years old...which is 46 years. I still write at least one check every month for my rent. Occasionally I'll write a check if I purchase something directly from someone like a homemade quilt or craft. Other than that I do credit/debit card or online banking draft. I love flavored coffee creamers. Right now I'm using Coffeemate Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie coffee creamer. It's delicious! It tastes like your coffee after you've dipped chocolate chip cookies in it. Cream cheese is practically a staple ingredient in American kitchens. We use it sweet dishes, savory dishes, appetizers, on breads, etc. That's why our asses are so big.
I live in the US and I haven't seen anybody write a check in literally decades. Like, not since the 90s. At least, not at a store. Paying rent, maybe, but not retail.
Once again she strikes with her stupidity. There's a world to see outside of Munich and Cincinnati and most times she hasn't been outside of it so she's absolutely clueless.
And usually for rent its a cashiers check so its verified the money will be there when the landlord cashes it, since you had to prepay for the check amount, vs hoping the tenant has the money in their account with a personal check. But even then, most people use some type of online payment now, even cashiers checks are rare these days.
@@AmberVivicideAnd it makes sense; this is the 21st century, after all. We may not have flying cars, but dammit, we can bank like friggin' _champions!_ 😋
Occasionally I'll see an older person - 60+ - write a check in a grocery store. I'm 64 myself, and only write a check about 4 times a year for the service that fertilizes my lawn. And only because they don't have an option to pay online. The book of checks I have has lasted for years. I do still keep a check register, writing in each purchase made by check or debit card, and balance it to my bank statement each month.
@@intheparlanceI might have a checkbook somewhere. I think. I only ever use it to find my routing number for things like PayPal. I haven't written a check with it. Ever.
Checks are still pretty common from getting refunds or returns. A lot of apartment buildings also will accept checks. Here in Maryland almost all retail stores don’t accept checks anymore.
The check thing is probably very dependent on where you live....larger cities likely have no need for them. I live in the midwest in a village with no bank, no stores, nothing. So I have to pay my water bill by check or money order....checks are more convenient. And I write a check for a couple other bills that I don't pay online. At stores and stuff though it's definitely not common anymore.
@20:54, I use exactly one check a year. It's to pay my property tax to the State. I pay everything else online. To be fair, I technically **could** pay my property tax online as well, but they want a 5% fee (about $55) to do it online, and my checks are free, so it saves me money to use the check. The last time I used a check for anything else was 2009.
You should see the holiday times when we have coffee creamer out. We have favored like... Pumpkin Candy cane Cookie Gingerbread We also eat sweet cream cheese on flavors on bagels 🥯. Regular plain cream cheese can be added to make dessert like cheese cake. Cheesecake can be made two ways. Baked or non baked. I always make a new york cheesecake that is baked. Taste better that way.
Maybe you never had a blueberry or cherry blintz…which uses cheese. Delicious. Not a weird combination at all. As a kid, I even ate cream cheese and strawberry jelly sandwiches. It must be an Eastern European thing.
The really weird prescription drug ads are when they don't tell you what they treat. Just that you should ask your doctor about them. You can't buy prescription drugs without a doctor's referral. Lots of people use milk in coffee. You can do everything electronically - you don't need a checkbook. But many older people still have them.
I don’t think they understand how many different pharmaceutical companies we actually have here. Brand & off-brand that do the same thing(s). So there are ads & then we talk it over w/our Dr. before purchasing. Just bc it’s prescribed doesn’t mean that’s what’s best. Sometimes a drug can have side-effects another one doesn’t. Or contain an allergen a different brand won’t. Interesting they don’t have as many options overseas….
Many businesses in our town (including the one I own) only takes cash and checks. Lots of places in our town in Missouri do not take cards. Contractors take checks and cash, for sure. Lots of reasons for checks.
I feel like our cream cheeses may be very different from each other. Think: plain, unsweetened yogurt. It's tart and tangy. Add sugar or honey to sweeten, then you add all different kinds of fruit or even make it into a cheesecake, which is like a dense pie in a crust, that you can also top with fruit and whipped cream. Leave it plain and it works fantastic for savory dishes. The drinking fountains? Once upon a time, thousands of years ago, water bottles were not ubiquitous. Not everyone had a bottle to carry with them, so these fountains were everywhere public. Checks? We sometimes still need to use them, but it's far, far less common than it used to be. I use a bank that doesn't issue checks, but I just had to order checks on my husband's account because we needed one. One, in... 5 years? And in addition, checks being stolen out of the mail is a big concern. Usually a Cashier's Check, issued for you, from your account, by the bank, to another party. Someone will steal the mail, figure out a way to the payee name and put their own name on it. So... checks are very insecure.
My husband and I paid a tree cutting service by check a few days ago because if we had paid by debit card we would have had to pay a 3% surcharge, because the card processing service he uses would have charged him that amount.
15:49 Sweet cream cheese is great. Whipped strawberry cream cheese on a toasted bagel is bomb. And as much as you seem to like sweets I bet you would love it Lew. Haven't you ever had cheesecake?
There's also a lot of drinking fountains on schools because depending on the age of the kids, it's about 50/50 chance if the kids are allowed to bring a water bottle with them. It's more common after covid, but a lot of younger kids aren't allowed them at their desks because of how often they get spilled.
My son was allowed to have a spill proof water bottle( They still spill). They have water fountains that have a place that you can refill your water bottle back up. They still have the regular spout on them too.All of the schools in our school district have them.
Our school has always supplied school water bottles for kindergarten- 6th grade. They stay at school and they wash them at school. Each class has different colors. They have their names on bottles and lids and they get to bring them home at the end of the year. Jr high and high school they can bring their own or buy bottles water at school from the vending machines. Since COVID they don't use the water fountains as much had them shut off completely for COVID not sure if they have turned them back on now but probably and they have the bottle fill fountains.
I only use cream cheese in my cheesecake recipe. I got it from my mother in law. It’s better than any other cheesecake that I EVER had. Seriously. And I hear the same thing from anyone that has tried it. It’s culinary gold. Preheat oven 300-350 degrees (depends on your particular oven. & how hot it runs). Use graham crackers of choice. If it comes from a box I increase it it by1 1/2 the recipe. You can also crush the graham crackers and go by a scratch recipe but again Iincrease it up to 1.5 the recipe. Butter the sides of a 9X11 pan. Lay crumbs in bottom of pan and push down. 24 ounces of cream cheese softened. (I cut it into sections and microwave it for 90 seconds). 2 cups of sugar 4 eggs 1 teaspoon of REAL vanilla. Blend with mixer until smoothe. Pour over graham crumbs. Bake approximately 40 minutes (depends on your particular oven does it run hotter than usual or cooler? I haved baked it anywhere from 300 degrees to 350 degrees depending on my oven so adjust your oven temperature accordingly. Bake until the top looks like custard (little holes poking through). That’s the most important thing. At this point in time I can smell when it’s done. When the cake is out put it on the counter to cool and turn up the oven to 400 degrees. Blend by hand: 16 oz of sour cream 4 overflowing tablespoons of sugar. Spoon out on top of cake, level it with spoon. Cook 5 minutes (this will “set” the topping). Remove and sprinkle graham crumbs on top for garnish. I then take a knife and go around the perimeter of the pan so the cake doesn’t hang onto the sides. I wipe off any residue with a napkin as I go to make for a clean edge. Place in refrigerator to cool. :)
Regarding the water fountains… they’re not that hard to use 😂 but I usually use them for filling up my water bottle I bring with me everywhere. The bottle fill stations are more convenient, but the non-bottle ones work fine too (and like you mention, that’s the ones we had in school as well)
YEah, very diverse even regionaly. Each state can be divided into MANY viewing ares with each having its own local adverts along with the national ads for things like Coke or Pepsi and national food chains(but even those will have regional versions. McD's can have widely varied commercial ads from town to town within the same state...), but if a family owned busuiness needed to advert and thier only option was to advert nationally simply would not be feasible. Advertising is absolutely very different across the country
OMG I love cream cheese, I have both plain and strawberry in the fridge right now for my morning bagels! (You are over thinking the name LOL) I’m not a coffee drinking but people love their flavored creamers too!
Mailing money is safer to do in a check instead of cash for birthdays or Christmas presents etc. We have cash app and PayPal and other apps that can send money in a few seconds we can pay at some stores that way as well or use a debit card or pay cash or by check. It's actually easier to pay in the U.S. it seems because we have so many different options to choose from. I don't know where she is getting her info but she isn't very well informed.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. But to act like we use checks a lot is weird. Most younger people probably have never wrote a check or even know how to write one.
It often seems that Europeans aren't used to having many choices, and they just assume if we do something, it must be the ONLY option. She seems to do that a lot with many things.
Lewis, the look on your face when she said she fills her water bottle in the bathroom was exactly my reaction ( I think I had the same look on my face as you). A room filled with toilets isn’t exactly sanitary.
I use checks all the time. I love them and they work well. I don’t like online banking, although I use it for some of my bills. Just because a young person is not familiar with a particular system doesn’t mean it doesn’t work. In any case I love your videos and your reactions.
Cream cheese can be used for a lot of different things, both sweet and savory. Carrot cake is typically frosted with cream cheese frosting, Cinnabon uses cream cheese icing, but it is also spectacular with pastrami on a bagel! Don't knock it till you try it!
Oh man sweet cream cheese is the bomb! It is soooo good! You have to try it! My favorite is the honey nut or the strawberry. It is like smearing cheesecake on your bagels. Speaking of cheesecake, research the cheesecake factory, it's a restaurant that has amazing cheesecakes with all kinds of toppings or flavored cheesecake.
Bagels with flavored cream cheese is amazing, imo! My current favorite is a cinnamon sugar bagel sandwich with bacon, egg, cheese and honey pecan cream cheese. I didn't even know I liked cream cheese until years ago when, one time on an airplane, it was part of a breakfast meal. Just like many of the American food combinations you've seen in videos, flavored or sweet cream cheese is one of the best things. I have a checkbook, but haven't used it since 2016.
Thanks to those who have posted that Cheese Cake is sweetened cream cheese..also cheese danish is made with sweet cream cheese too...people need to keep an open mind.
I love strawberry cream cheese on blueberry bagels 😋 The last time I used a paper check was to pay life insurance because that used to be the company's policy. The company I work for pays employees who don't have bank accounts (teenagers for example) with paper checks.
Bailey's Irish creme coffee creamer is my favorite lol. So im pretty sure i have heard you say you like cheese cake, so what makes strawberry cream cheese so weird?
13:36 for something like raisin and cinnamon toast or just a sweet breakfast bread, you would use the blueberry cream cheese. Just think of cream cheese from cheese cake
I use checks all the time. Mostly I use it for paying contractors/workers who do stuff around my house. I generally don't carry cash around and these handimen don't take credit cards. So, if it's a large payment, they get a check. Also a check serves as a receipt if someone says they never got paid. Stuff like county property taxes, vehicle taxes, etc. sometimes have a direct pay option on their website. However, there is often an added charge so a check in an envelope can save money and keeps a record of the payment. When anyone receives a check, they can simply take a photo with their phone and upload it to their bank account.
When I lived in Germany, there was a store across the street from my apartment and I noticed the same people every two to three days. Rarely did anyone come out of the store with more than one bag. No cart was needed. Creamer, as the name suggests, is creamy. It's thicker than milk, but not syrupy. They make blueberry bagels, so why not put blueberry cream cheese on it? I have never seen a drinking fountain in a restroom, ever. Writing a check to put in the mail leaves you a receipt. We write checks to pay utilities, but ordering from the internet or mailing a gift we don't mail cash or send a birthday card with a credit card.
Its a screen door when only a screen is open to the outdoors and a storm door when you slide the window down to keep the weather out. (truthfully, in the old days, the screen door was just a screen that was fized to a wooden frame; and the storm door was just another door that helped stop the weather from coming in)
I've been living near Chicago in apartments for the last 25 years and landlords always have us pay our rent by check. Also our Dept of Motor Vehicles has us pay by check for annual license fees and such. I know, it's really old fashioned and backward! Love your videos! 🤗
Wow! I’m in Tennessee, and I don’t even have checks with my back account. I guess I could get them, but I can’t imagine being forced to use checks. When I have to use bank draft, I just use my routing number and check account number which is an electronic draft kinda like an e-check. But I haven’t used checks in over 10 years.
And speaking for people of multiple age groups that I know, we all still write checks for some things, while others are paid through other means. I pay my rent with a check, as well as anything that charges a fee to pay by card. Ain't paying a "convenience fee" for something that's used everywhere, everyday. Not sorry
I really enjoy watching your videos. About the flavored cream cheese, you could mix some strawberry jam with cream cheese and beat it well with a mixer and then spread it on a bagel. I actually like plain cream cheese on a bagel with raspberry or strawberry jam on top.
Cream cheese has a fairly neutral flavor, so fruit or brown sugar and nuts, etc. can easily be added to it for a different flavor. And, although I personally don't have it often, the reason I like it is because it's not super sweet. Think plain yogurt. It can go either way! Sometimes, I use plain yogurt mixed with spices and herbs for a Mexican dish or perhaps an Indian meal. And, sometimes, I add fresh smashed berries, maple syrup, etc. or throw yogurt in the blender for a fruit smoothie. Cream cheese is very similar to marscarpone, which is used in tiramisu and is the main ingredient in cheesecake. We even have cream cheese pastries, and some come with fruit, as well. They are called a Cream Cheese Danish!😊❤😊
Seeet crème cheese is great on bagels. Especially honey walnut (yes we have nutty cream cheese too) on a sweet or savory bagel. We also have veggie/herb crème cheese too.
I was at the dentist and forgot my debit card, so the only thing I had was an old ancient check book buried in my purse that I hadn't used in over 15 years. My check was literally rejected on the basis it was so old it didn't include an address on it, so apparently it could not be used to pay. The whole thing was just comical. There are a few things that might require a check, but if you pull out a check to pay for any reason in a long line, you will get the death stare. The majority of stores no longer even accept checks. Only people over 90 attempt to pay with checks on a regular basis. Everyone else is debit/credit/apple pay, and maybe in a pinch, you pay with actual from a tree, cash. As far as cream cheese goes, I'm not sure what you're picturing in your disgust at the thought of flavored cream cheese, but if you've ever had a cheesecake with a strawberry topping---just imagine that strawberry being mixed in with the cheesecake. It's really quite good. People generally only use the spreads for bagels or breakfast items.
A waaays back I had to temporarily use checks while a new debit card was being mailed to me (college) and I had to hand write my address in the corner of the check and the confirmed it with my DL.
A lot of these things are a surprise to her because of her age. Carrying around a water bottle wasn't a thing for half of MY life. Except for cash, checks were the only way to pay in most situations and in many places and situations in this big country they are still preferred by vendors. Once a week we pay our grain guy by check because it costs him money every time someone uses their card and so we don't do that to him. We don't use them a lot but we definitely still use them.
Checks are still used by Americans for certain bills and used by the 35 and up crowd maybe 40 and up. Lots of us are weird out by cash app, PayPal, or other services we can share between banks but it takes a few days the same bank can be share in minutes. Also lots of us don’t like taping our phones on devices I’m 43 and live in the south. Some jobs require a voided check so they can pay you directly in to your account.
You don't know what you're missing with the Sweet cream cheese. Cheese cake is made with Cream cheese One of America's most famous desserts.. As far as the checks . Most places don't even check except checks anymore. And the only checkbook I've seen in my past 15 to 20 years. Is my brother law who uses checks for payroll For his business.
I actually do remember a time when American television _wasn't_ littered with ads for prescription drugs, back when I was a kid. Over-the-counter medications like Advil or Bayer, sure, but not prescriptions. Like Feli said, the real turning point came in 1997, when the Food and Drug Administration loosened and clarified the restrictions on television ads for pharmaceuticals. I remember the very first prescription drug ad I saw, for an allergy medication called Claritin. I remember the ads never actually explicitly saying what the drug did or what it was for, which (at the time) I thought was pretty stupid advertising. But that was by design-- it was done that way to skirt around the FDA's policies. Pretty soon after that, the FDA realized it couldn't effectively enforce its restrictions, the floodgates opened, and other medications were being peddled on TV, all of them telling the consumer to "ask your doctor if" such-and-such medication "is right for you." And it hasn't stopped since then. This phenomenon of drug ads on TV, it's only been a thing in the US for about 25 or 26 years. And yes, when the program I'm watching takes a commercial break, I _do_ habitually mute the TV every time now.
I personally like to keep my cream cheese flavor plain, but we have breakfast pastries that mix strawberries and cream cheese and it's actually a *really* good combo. Don't knock it til you try it!
Strawberry preserves and a bit of cream cheese is a delicious filling for stuffed French toast. Cutting into the sizzling, butter topped, French bread and having the warm, creamy mixture of the two spilling out, mmmmmm. No need for syrup, but a sprinkle of powdered sugar on top never hurt nobody.😉
Thanks!

Cream cheese is the main ingredient in cheese cake, a dessert. Sweet cream cheese is a dessert. It is way better than what you are making it out to be. Americans know good food, trust us, sweet cream cheese is the bomb.
Not to mention it's used in icing for cinnamon rolls
Italian cheese cake uses Riccoto cheese.

Just a little FYI, most fountain drink stations in convenience stores have a water nozzle that can be used to fill a cup or bottle with water. 😂😂😂😂
@@cherylkruisheer3365I just don't trust the doctors who were taught by the evil Rockefeller indoctrination camps called university.
Okay, something she's completely wrong about is using a check because "you don't want others knowing your bank account number." That is exactly what the numbers on the bottom of a check are... a routing number (unique to each bank) and a checking account number.

Yep, I made the same face when she said, "fill up the water bottle in a restroom". Yeah, don't know about that.
Right, I've only seen them outside the bathroom, like at the airport. Never inside with the toilets.
USA better option is to use a water fountain. fill up water bottle in restroom is gross.
Same! I was like have you not watched Mythbusters where they tested your toothbrush that is in the bathroom to see if there is any fecal matter. Even though it's nowhere near the toilet and never touched the toilet, they found fecal matter. Needless to say, I'm not drinking the water from a public bathroom.
You can’t chew on bottled water though
It's not cheese like mozzarella or cheddar cheese. It's cream cheese that people will often put on bagels! I can't believe you've never heard of it before.
Right, it might sound weird, but holy crap is that stuff good.
It is closer to Brits clotted cream they eat with their scones.
Haven’t had a checkbook in 10 years.
He has clearly never had cheesecake before! How does he not understand the concept of what cheesecake is made of!
Not really using checks daily. But at grocery, no!
Something she probably didn't know is that the water fountains are refrigerated and filtered. Sometimes cold enough to give you a brain freeze if you find one of the old ones that someone overcharged with refrigerant.
No way I'm filling my water bottle in a public restroom or even my own bathroom.
Facts. No one I know does that.
honestly the sweet cream cheese is basically like you're eating a cheesecake for dessert & it's actually super good. The blueberry cream cheese & strawberry cream cheese is actually good I swear. It's like our equivalent to British Scones with cream and jam. Same deal. But it's not like a regular cheese because it's creamy and not like a strong "cheese-cheese". You have to try it!
The best brand of creamer cheese is Philadelphia cream cheese!
The cream cheese is really simple. People liked to spread cream cheese and jam on their toast, bagel, crackers, or whatever. So, Philadelphia simply decided to combine the two into a single spread.
I put regular cream cheese in my sausage gravy--makes it ooooh soo creamy! The magic of cream cheese is that you can go sweet or savory with it!
Sweet cream cheese is AMAZING on a bagel!!!!!!!!! You absolutely have to try it!!
but why anyone would EVER eat a bagel is beyond comprehension. That's like eating a half a loaf of bread!
try cream cheese on a chips ahoy cookie.
Flavored cream cheese rules!!!! On toast or a bagel - YUM!!!
So good!!
1.) What Europeans say about America: "It's crazy that you have ads for prescription medication on the television." What Europeans are saying about themselves: "We have to make everything illegal because we can't be trusted to think for ourselves."
You do realize that you can't just go to the local pharmacy and pick up these medications. You still have to get a prescription from your doctor. Feli, I am sorry honey, but we also believe in facts and doing what is best for ourselves here in the states. Ads don't change that.
Add in the fact that many people don't trust doctors, either, particularly after our recent virus "experience".
Sweet cream cheese is the bomb. Especially on bagels

FYI, there's a jalapeno cream cheese by Philadelphia! And it's the freaking best!.
It’s not about self diagnosis. It’s about people who have already been diagnosed given options to talk to your doc about. I have psoriasis and like the ads because I know what’s available. Love your channel.

Having the ads also allows us to be aware of the negative side effects of the drug being advised.
Some jobs still use paychecks. Some bills checks don't get fees credit cards do.
A lot of small businesses or individuals don’t take electronic payments. One local restaurant is “cash only”.
Yes in rural towns we use them very much as they will charge you to use the credit card machine at stores.
We also can bring up the side effects because we know them now and a lot of doctors (not all) are paid well by Big Pharma so their opinion isn't always in your best interest.
that's a great point@@spaceshiplewis
NPR and PBS are state funded
Germany doesn't have bagels, because bagels are Jewish in origin. Something happened in the 1930s and 1940s that made Jewish people somewhat uncommon in Germany.
You pay your rent by checking online OR by paper check because it's an automatic receipt once it's cashed. Paper checks are mailed because the envelope has the date stamped on it which must be dated before the 5th of the month or the landlord can add a late fee.
Plus you have proof you paid something.

Yes, to me a water fountain is a water feature that is artistic in some way. What she showed is usually called a drinking fountain by most of us... meant only to quench your thirst. Although, it's hygiene & sanitation came into question many years ago. If you've ever watched little kids drinking from one, you'll understand the reasons why.
omg mixed berry cream cheese on a blueberry bagel is all kinds of awesome 👍👍
I carry a bottle with me at all times but no way in hell am I getting doodoo hand water in my drinking bottle.

People still use checks. Seen it often.
We also make cream cheese cake/cookie icing. Cream cheese, vanilla, powdered sugar. This icing is also often used as a fruit dip.
As Tom MacDonald says (in his song "Brainwashed"), "Every patient cured is a customer lost".

Just trying to do my part to keep the postal service afloat.
Wow. We may use one or two a year tops.
Blueberry bagels with strawberry cream cheese is too awesome for words. 👍
You're singing my song. That's my favorite.
Pumpkin
Candy cane
Cookie
Gingerbread
We also eat sweet cream cheese on flavors on bagels 🥯.
Strawberry cream cheese on a toasted bagel is ELITE. 🤤
My favorite thing is when they say do not use this medicine if you are allergic to this medicine🤣
Do they think we can actually buy these medications without a prescription from a doctor!!??
@@jimoleebrewer6792 It seems as though that’s what they think. Lol
Many businesses in our town (including the one I own) only takes cash and checks. Lots of places in our town in Missouri do not take cards. Contractors take checks and cash, for sure. Lots of reasons for checks.
It's actually really good. You put it on a bagel. I like strawberry and blueberry only though
No dude, the cream cheese varieties are yummy!!! And the creamers are delicious. Girl doesn't know what she's talking about.
2 cups of sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon of REAL vanilla.
Blend by hand:
16 oz of sour cream
4 overflowing tablespoons of sugar.
The bottle fill stations are more convenient, but the non-bottle ones work fine too (and like you mention, that’s the ones we had in school as well)
I don't know though. I don't see a lot of people filling water out of the public restrooms though. I wouldn't. Water fountain, or my house.
@@cincy.a.l.w3219 I said I fill it at a water fountain, not in a public restroom? Two different things
I was just saying the water fountains with bottle stations are more convenient/a tad easier to use for reusable bottles than normal water fountains
Right this is America if you wanna buy something we'll take your payment in any form
Its from a tap, the same pipes that are in the kitchen. Don't you ever clean your bathroom.
Don't you use the tap in your bathroom to brush your teeth?
She's talking about public bathrooms. No way I'd fill my water bottle in a public bathroom
The Philadelphia cream cheese she’s talking about is just like the rebar cream cheese but with additional flavors. It is in fact very good.
I use checks all the time. I love them and they work well. I don’t like online banking, although I use it for some of my bills. Just because a young person is not familiar with a particular system doesn’t mean it doesn’t work. In any case I love your videos and your reactions.
🤦♀️ FYI... I think she still has a lot to learn about the banking system. Because we don't have to go through PayPal or whatever to send money. WOW.
Cream cheese can be used for a lot of different things, both sweet and savory. Carrot cake is typically frosted with cream cheese frosting, Cinnabon uses cream cheese icing, but it is also spectacular with pastrami on a bagel! Don't knock it till you try it!
Red velvet with cream cheese frosting? OHHH BOY.
She can’t find bagels in Germany? Huh, wonder why.
😂
Gee I wonder why🤦♀️😁
🤔🤔😉
Yep. I wrote the reason why on my post. Sorry, but I could hold it in.
No bagels or comedians in germany? I wonder where they all went? Lol
I love strawberry cream cheese on blueberry bagels 😋
The last time I used a paper check was to pay life insurance because that used to be the company's policy.
I guess I'm lucky our DMV has a self serve station that takes card. only for like two actions though.
I don't think checks are used that prevalent here in the US! I think they're used more by older people.
Speaking as an "older" person, I haven't written a check in years.😊
And speaking for people of multiple age groups that I know, we all still write checks for some things, while others are paid through other means.
I dislike yogurt
@@garycamara9955Do you hate ALL yogurt?

The flavored cream cheese are excellent on bagels! Thay are surprisingly delicious! Honey Pecan is my favorite from Philidelphia.
Strawberry cream cheese on a crisp-toasted blueberry bagel is an American breakfast delicacy.
With honey and cinnamon
You don't know what you're missing with the Sweet cream cheese. Cheese cake is made with Cream cheese One of America's most famous desserts.. As far as the checks . Most places don't even check except checks anymore. And the only checkbook I've seen in my past 15 to 20 years. Is my brother law who uses checks for payroll For his business.
Water fountains were popular before bottled water was a thing. In school if you were thirsty you either drank from the fountain or waited until lunch.
Yeah and what about those nasty (I typed feminine , the typed out demons ) feminine hygiene ads at supper time , simply lovely
Water fountains are quite often refrigerated. Who wants to drink warm water.
I personally like to keep my cream cheese flavor plain, but we have breakfast pastries that mix strawberries and cream cheese and it's actually a *really* good combo. Don't knock it til you try it!
Apple Pay, PayPal Venmo etc .Checks are not used much anymore here in the US
I prefer the onion cream cheese on my bagel.
