Gotta love it when the fasteners round off 😣 what a *pain* ! I've never tore into a transfer case, but I must say it doesn't look too complicated 🙂👍 Great video J.C!
I appreciate you explaining and showing the tear down process. I’ve got a 241 sitting on my shop floor that I’d like to rebuild while it’s out. I had been avoiding that project because I’ve never been in one. I’ve ordered a Tiger tool and will be tackling that particular task the first of next year. Thank you.
I have a tip for you JC if you never heard this.but buy a couple cheap harbor freight screwdrivers and cut a groove just past the head a bit ,,that notch makes a great tool for pulling snap rings like those flat ones
Another. Good interesting Video Happy Christmas and Thank You Mr and Mrs JC.. Have a Nice time. Over Festivities time..........from aCool Altrincham near Manchester Uk.
Outside of the chain it looked decent..i'm a borderline parts hoarder so would kill me to tear it apart and toss it in the scrap pile lol...i even keep small cut offs of steel..might need it in 10 years for a gusset 😄
all the extra parts went into a box marked np237f and put aside. when i decide i need something from it, i will never be able to find it. you should see my steel hoard.....the average person would toss a a good bit of it.
Very interesting to see how the collar teeth engage to determine what range your in. Definitely a lot of parts, but the design of it is pretty simple.👍
Glad you took us along. I’ve had a few xfer cases apart and they have all been different ish. I really like the explanation even if the terminology is perfect, it gets the point across.
Great video that shows a easy transfer case that would be great to use too make a 2wd to a 4wd and probably good aftermarket parts for upgrades too beef it up... Thanks 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This video is perfect J.C. I just bought a 2011 Ram3500 Laramie 6.7 with a 6 speed 4x4 (100,000kms) pick up and I'm feeling/hearing/noticing some slop in the drive train. When I turn the truck off it makes a wobble/clunk right at the end. On my own I've inspected it by quickly looking under the truck as I turn the key off and the engine/drivetrain wobbles/shakes. The noise sounds like it's coming from the transfer case(uncertain). I also feel the slop in low gear by rocking the truck (1st or reverse). The mounts visually look ok but uncertain.

Hi mr & mrs Jc, always wanted to know how theses worked as I I’ve had and have a 4x4 and touch wood never taken one apart so thanks for that and may I take this opportunity to wish you the good lady and your family a very merry Christmas Andrew year from the U.K. thanks markUK
You got the tool!!!!!!! I hate rust!! If you cut a notch almost at the end of the screwdriver and it will catch the snap ring and pull it out really easy. I've modified a few of them. Thanks and Happy Holidays.
Thanks for all the info jc you are the man can you put a divorced transfer case and a front diff from a donor class 8 truck under a cab over making it a 6x6 or would that be a hugh project with lots of unkown hurdles merry xmas to you and your family
If I would have made this video, it would have been rated R. You know, with the cussing, LOL. J.C. makes it look so easy. All in having the right tools.
Man that's really built like a automatic transmission! I've got a couple of 205s apart ,they are more like tractor parts! Great explanation JC ! Merry Christmas

I always thought the center gear was the sun gear and the planets orbit that and the outside is just the ring gear
that sounds right. im no pro for sure.
