Summary: The Canon R6 Mark II is a top hybrid camera but has five key weaknesses. These include overly sharp images, a lack of affordable lenses, corner wobbles with wide lenses, limited log options, and a fragile micro HDMI port. Solutions such as using vintage lenses and adapters can enhance its performance.
I absolutely love your energy. I'm new to photography and I'm practicing with my grandma's EOS Rebel T3i before I buy the EOS r6 mark II and, while I have done my homework on terminology and functions, I'm still learning, and your content style is very approachable for newcomers such as myself. So thank you for not only being honest about a few things I can expect when buying this camera, but also providing solutions. I was already planning on buying a mount for the lenses my grandma has (she said I can borrow them until she needs them back, which likely won't happen since she doesn't photograph much any more), but I will likely go for the specific one you mentioned. I didn't even think to get a mount that has a lens filter slot with it! Thank you for your insight, you've helped me a lot.
I got the R6 Mark II and Sigma Art 50 1.4 and WOW this is amazing! This lens is the sharpest lens I've ever used... about as sharp as the RF50 1.4 and it was 3x cheaper! And even adapted the AF is faster than the RF, and it's also smaller and lighter than the RF. Plus the warranty is 7 years vs 1 for Canon. There are no downsides. Also the Sigma 14-24 2.8 Art is stellar as well and almost half the price of the RF 15-35 (and prob better optically). The IBIS works SO well too with these Sigma lenses and H+ 12/40 FPS shooting still works! I'm more of a photographer than videographer and not a youtuber, so the wobbles don't bother me. Also done comparisons of the IPB and ALL-I in the R5 and there is 0 difference, even zoomed to 400% with fast moving subjects. The data rate is already waaaay higher than RUclips so it doesn't matter anyway in the end (if your intended audience is RUclips as is the case for 99% of people). Other social media is even worse for compression... and all are 8 bit. Most of the complaints I hear are from RUclipsrs. I got the R6 Mark II for the same price as the now discounted R6. What a steal!
Awesome! I'm totally with you on the EF lenses, especially ones from Sigma. It's a shame Canon closed off the mount to 3rd party manufacturers but honestly there is so much quality EF glass out there that it almost doesn't matter. Thanks for sharing your experience.
@@Yupthereitism Nonsense. The Panasonic S5II is a beast no doubt but there are plenty of people who would prefer the R6II. It's a better stills camera, C-log and Canon colors make it better suited as a b-camera to Canons Cinema Cameras like the C70 etc and although the AF on the S5II is almost at Sony and Canon level it still misses a lot which hopefully will be sorted soon.
Hi, 77dris! Could you please tell me which adapter do you use to connect the camera body to 50mm sigma lense? I have this lense and planning to get new camera body, but the correct work of the autofocuse is the mane thing for me... I'm impressed by your comment and would really like to have the same experience. How it goes through the time though?
2 more issues : 1. Older flash triggers will not work. You will have to buy the AD-E1 adapter for studio flash photography. 2. There is no option to save all the menu settings to a memory card (like the R5 and R3).

Wow Fulaan, you packed in a lot of great info into 6 minutes. Much appreciated not only the quality of your info but in how well you delivered it, a rare quality in RUclipsLand.
Very well done, you identified problems and came up with solutions that make sense. My son is making the switch to Canon next year as he is very disappointed with his Nikon Z6II autofocus system and Nikon's lack of urgency at solving it. Nikon main thing is solving issues with the Z9 including the latest issue with the shutter mech, which locks the lens to the camera body, if you are affected that requires you to send the camera in with your lens. My son has been through the Z6 as well and made the upgrade and his second shooter uses it. I know he doesn't know about the wobble, but I'm almost certain he won't use the camera for video, and he knows about the mini Hdmi port because he was in the camera shop two days ago. He feels abandoned by Nikon, even though he has been able to work through the issues, (despite prior D750 issues) which are easier to control in a portrait studio than on an actual event, where things are happening. The Z6II however is an outstanding video camera when used with Blackmagic's external monitor which allows him to record in B raw to it with the $200 firmware update that he paid Nikon for...ouch!!! I have offered him one of my Sony bodies and he has refused because he said, I don't want to get use to anything that I don't own, and I know how to work around it even though I shouldn't have to. He will keep the Nikon and use it as only a video camera and his C camera along with his two Blackmagic 4k. The other reason for the switch to Canon is to get into their lens ecosystem to get ready for the move to the URSA line and to start getting Canon glass to make the switch easier. Anything after the pocket 4k is Canon or PL mount. One more thing Canon does make the RF STM line of lenses that are much cheaper than the regular RF line and they are native RF, not to be confused with STM EF, which require the adapter. Keep up the good work.
Many thanks for great review. Can you please advise me on the best camera for travelling, shooting video without limits in 30min, stabilizer, excellent portrait photography and street photography? 🙏The best and compact that is on the market. About the budget, I have no limits, but I don't want to overpay for something I don't need. Since one of the needs is to use the camera when travelling, I don't want the camera to be too big and heavy. When travelling I will be photographing architecture in cities, my wife, landscapes and quite a lot of video. I choose between Canon and Sony, so far the choice has stopped on Canon R6 mark2 or Sony 6700. Thank you all very much in advance
Hey! Amazing video for someone like me that is still on the fence between Sony A7 IV, Lumix S5 II and this R6 II. It's been a year but I hope you still respond, I have an important question. Besides normal shooting, I love to do wildlife as well. Do you think this camera would have video stabilization issues with a super telephoto lens? 600-800mm I've owned a sony a7IV before and the only downside was the poor stabilization even on tripods and such it was just bad. Do you think this one behaves better?
Hello. The stabe should be great at that focal length. The problem with Canon IBIS isn't in the longer focal lengths but mostly with wide and especially ultrawide focal lengths.
@@FulaanCreative I'd be willing to bet you good money that this camera does eventually overheat in 4K60 mode. I don't think it would make it through one battery before overheating, and I am 99.9% sure it will not record indefinitely. It seems like a lot of people don't have a need to shoot video for more than about 15 minutes at a time. I feel like there should be a separate type of review for people who want a camera that won't overheat, even if one records for three hours straight. I guess that recording in 4K60 is unusual at the enthusiast level, except maybe for slow motion. I find that kind of odd, but I've never understood people. ;)
I’m not sure you’ll see this question, but I would love to have a good camera recommended, that, whilst maintaining high quality video, doesn’t look overly sharp, digital like you mention above. I can spend as much as an R6 in the video. I don’t want it to be too sterile. It’s like quality, but with some vibe to it. Also, decent in lower light situations.. 😊
Thanks for this great review! I use now one R6 and I wanna buy a second one for video + photography, I do weddings. Should I upgrade? Today R6 cost in my country 1730$ and r6 i 2600$ plus taxes. Is it worth the extra 870$ ??? Till now on weedings I never had problems with heating because I don't record never more than 15-20min in once. I use a back up camera 5d iv for video. Should I upgrade? Thanks 🙏
@@FulaanCreative i just made the order, r6 + adaptor rf/ef + ninja v + 2 atomos orig cables (expensive) + ssd 1tb Samsung 870 = 2450$ less than one single r6 ii 🤘😍 now I have to start to work to make money with it 😁
Thank you for the video. The R6 II is still on my radar. I do have one request for you though, and i hope you don't take it personally. Maybe lay off the audio compression a bit??? I kind of feel like you are shouting at me during the whole video. Anyway, otherwise a very good video with a lot of useful advice.
Regarding your point about it creating too sharp (digital looking), is that’s more the lens and not the camera itself? I think you support that point by suggesting specific lenses. No?
Its both actually but you can remedy it by using lenses with more "character" but keep in mind that this isn't unique to this camera and is more ore less the situation with most cameras these days.
Sound advice IMO. I did what you said and purchased EF lenses for this camera. Tamron 24-70 f2.8, Tamron 35mm f1.4, Canon EF 85mm f1.4, to go with a Tamron 17-35mm I already owned. Smart way to go if you're on a budget and still get great image quality. Also bought a Ninja V+ with the hopes of improving dynamic range. However if it doesn't improve the dynamic range I'm returning it. If the dynamic range does improve though, this is hands down the best camera at this price point IMO.
Awesome lenses! I have heard amazing things about that 85mm F1.4 and i totally agree, if the ninja v doesn't improve the dynamic range it's worth using.
I remember when I purchased my EOS R, it came with some sort of lock in mechanism for the C port cable, I think this would work for the R6 as well. ANyways, I like your content. And you seem to read the comments, so thats awesome. Stay humble. I still debating if I want to create a youtube channel. and for can't decide on the content I'd like to upload. Also, the internet is VERY Critical. Idk If I can handle that. As it is, I get slightly defensive if somebody critics my photos.
Thanks! I appreciate the suggestion regarding the cable. I gotta go through the stuff that my EOS R came with to see if I can find it. Regarding youtube it's definitely challenging at times. Originally I had no intention of getting in front of a camera. I got into it due to the financial possibilities. After I did I realized I actually enjoyed it and that I can use the skills that i'll gain for something more important in the future. People can be rude so you have to develop a thick skin and not let things get to you. I've developed a nice method which is just thanking haters for commenting as it helps with the algorithm. So yeah if it's something you want to do then as an old friend from high school used to say- ain't nuth'n to it but to do it.
Late to the game, but I outgrew my other Canon and just purchased a R6 Mii. I am guessing I can still use my old lenses from my T7i and if yes what adapter do I get?
Hi, thanks for this great video. I have a question though. You recommand to buy the HDMI clamp to secure the HDMI port but : 1. This clamp is not compatible with R6 cages from my understanding, and 2. in the comment below your video you give the reference of another product which is SMALLRIG BSC2333. I'm a little confused. What should I buy?
Thanks! It was mostly shot with a Tamron 15-30mm f2.8 & EOS R. The look can be achieved with various camera and lens choices. What really gives it it's look is mainly the lighting and the LUT. I have a tutorial on lighting and I sell the LUT pack on my website. ruclips.net/video/QeUZVc-iIlg/видео.html
R6 mk2 or the Sony zv-e1? Great video BTW, if I'm nitpicking and being beyond critical your speech could use more highs and low, there's a word for it that I forget. Or it could be the tempo 🤷🏼♂️ but the content was spot on. I'm subscribing 🤙
Neither, the S5 mark II is the way to go in my opinion. I'll be releasing a video on the S5ii vs zv-e1 vs r8 tomorrow. Thanks for the constructive criticism by the way.
@Fulaan Creative I only follow people make great videos and I'm grateful I came upon your content! I have a feeling you're going to be a big influence. Phenomenal content. Also, the creativity you have in a few of your other videos is fun and makes me LOL like the light coming on with an idea. Haha I'm looking forward to more! 🤙 thanks again and I'll check out that video
@Fulaan Creative I looked at the specs side by side. The one touted offering from the zve1 that looked interesting was its focusing system but from what I've heard at 60fps it overheats in 20-30 mins of continious shooting. The R6mkii has the 60fps which it looks like the S5mkii(x) doesn't have only up to 30 but it does have the full hdmi. I'm super interested in the upcoming video
Hi Fulaan ive been ask to film a full boxing event.. but I normaly do photography. My Canon r6 MKii (and a r6 mk1) has ofcourse a video function. But is it good enough you think? Or possible with this camera?
I've actually been trying to get the Sony look, the sharpness and image detail out of my Canon 6D. But I'm thinking of upgrading soon, would the R6 or the R6 Mark II give me that modern day digital look that the Sony A7 III and A7 IV have? Or would I need to switch to the Sony to get that look. The thing is I've already invested in plenty of Canon lenses and speedlight and would have to sell all my gear, so it would be easier for me to stay with a Canon body just for ease. If you or anyone has any insight, I'd appreciate it ! Great video by the way!
Yes these newer Canon cameras will give you a sharper, more digital look but it will still be a little different to Sony. Sony seems even more digital to me maybe due to the different color science. I would rent a new Canon body and see if it gives you the look you want. Then you could decide if you need to go the Sony route or not.
Wow, what a joy to find your channel. Just started interviewing people in a controlled environment, looking for a new Cannon platform - your opinion? Is the R6 the boss for mirrorless documentary work? Much love and stay well. Alan
The R6II, the R8, C70 can't go wrong really. It depends on your individual needs but those three Canon cameras would be my go to and they are each in a separate price bracket.
Oh btw, the R6 Mark II makes a very, very faint "fan noise" when you turn it on (have to be in a silent room with your ear up to it). Almost wonder if there is a small fan circulating air around inside which is why it's so great now that there is no overheating. Some say it's IBIS but the R5/R6 and other R cams don't make this sound.
Thanks for the heads up. I usually run the footage through the noise removal feature in davinci resolve to get rid of any excess room noise. It works pretty well but sounds unnatural if you dial it up all the way.
@@FulaanCreative You wont hear it in footage, it's a faint sound coming out the back that you have to put your ear up to the camera to hear (and you need good hearing)
you can also just use lens filters if you want to still buy RF or EF lenses on your r6mk2. That way your not limited to buying wasted lenses and can still take nice sharp photos or videos when needed.
Of course, certain application would call for sharp footage. like sports or corporate stuff so it's a good idea to have both. Especially considering how affordable many vintage lenses are.
thank you for the video. i'm not sure if you will know the answer to my question but i'm gonna give it a shot. i rented the R6 mark II for the weekend for a special event and first night i came home and popped the SD card into my 2014 Macbook Pro and my laptop won't recognize any files...at all. What's up? Thank you in advance.
Try updating to the latest OS. If that doesn't work then the Laptop my be too old to handle those files. You can verify with apple though. In that case you need to use a different computer or transcode the files into a different format that you computer can recognize.
@@FulaanCreative thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately my laptop will only update to MacOS Sur…can’t get Ventura or the new one Sonoma coming out. Might be time to upgrade 👍
I have a doubt. I'm new to photography and I bought the Sony Alpha A7 IV but return it because someone told me "You have a Canon EOS M50 and you haven't use it that much. You think you'll be doing different with the one you are going to buy". So I decided to invest in the Canon EOS mount and in a Canon 50mm F 1.8 to use my M50 BUT! I'm asking myself What else should I buy if I want to get pictures of Portraits and Landscape. I'm taking a course of photography Charlie Borland. Sorry to extend myself but I wanted to be clear.
That's not bad advice for someone that's just starting out. The M50 can do everything that most beginners will need and then some. You could always get the A7iv again later on when you outgrow the m50.
Great video!! New to cameras here and looking into the M50 due to price and ease of use. Love the tips and tricks you give on filming. Even though I can't afford the better cameras still love watching the videos.
You dontmention that this camera has a new "hot shoe" that prevents using the canon 600 RTII flash and some triggers. the manual has some fine print that warns you about that. Have to buy an adapter !
I just recently purchased the Canon r6 mark ii after viwi h one of your other videos on your reccomendation of cameras. And I purchased some of the items you provided on the links of this video including the helios vintage lens. However, I tried installing the lens today using the Meike drop in filter/adapter that you reccomende and it doesent fit. Tried it without the adapter and it's too loose. Is there anything I missed? Also, I was curious as to how you get rid of motion blur on the canon r6 mark ii? I noticed moving the camera from sided to side produces motion blur unless im moving it super slow? Anyway to fix this?
The Helios is a vintage lens that needs a different adapter. The Meike one is for Ef and EF-S lenses. Regarding the motion blur are you talking about video or photo? You need to have the correct shutter speed setting in order to reduce motion blur. I have a video that explains al the settings. The video is for the Canon m50 but it works exactly the same with the r6II. ruclips.net/video/GNqmimho7fk/видео.html - I also have a video explaining settings for photography. It's also for a different camera but it works exactly the same. ruclips.net/video/l_EjYLg5J9I/видео.html
Thanka, i will check rhise videos out. What adapter do i need to be able to attach the Helios Vinatge Lens onto mt canon r6 mark ii? Also, thanks for the vidros on shutter speed and motion blur. Will check them out.
Another Potential Dealbreaker Warning !!!! R6 MKII - Card Recording not supported with clean HDMI out :( Canon has done it again. removed a basic feature that existed for 15 years since in the 5D MKIII that (with MagicLantern) that seems to be still the only Canon camera that can Livestream and Record internally (as backup) a long video session like the full day conference that im streaming at the moment without stopping every 29:59. i havnt checked the R7 R10 R50 R3 R8 yet, but i have the feeling that this is the case on most if not all new - continuously recording canon hybrid cameras. i am completely bewildered by this move and very dissapointed to say the least. I am giving up on the hope for a proper all rounder from canon at this point. just don't trust them anymore. im also quite surprised that nowhere is this mentioned in all the many reviews praising this camera. maybe no one streams multicam with Canon cameras, but if you are - be aware. 📸💥🔨
Honestly I wouldn't recommend this camera to a shooter that leans heavily to video. When I made this video the S5 II hadn't come out yet. Considering you can use your EF canon glass on the S5II with an adapter and get perfect AF it doesn't make sense to get the R6II over the S5II unless your a hybrid shooter that leans more on the stills side.
What adapter do i need to be able to attach the Helios Vinatge Lens onto mt canon r6 mark ii? Also, thanks for the vidros on shutter speed and motion blur. Will check them out.
Even with sharpness turned all the way down in many cases it's still too sharp for filmmaking. Mostly due to 6k downsampled to 4k. For sports and tech videos it's great but for traditional filmmaking digital sharpness isn't very pleasing for many.
If it is an m42 mount you'll need to find a converter to RF or get the converter to EF and use an EF RF adapter like the Meike drop in ND filter adapter.
Hi,please help with something, I want to buy this camera as i need a more compact camera for our studio and rung and gun, gimbal footage. We have a live streaming setup with an Atem Extreme ISO and 2 Blackmagic 6k Pro cameras. My question is, can i use this camera for live streaming for a few hours? I know there was a 30min limit for recording, i may seen a video with an firmware update which solves the 30 min recording limit. The camera will be connected to the Atem Extreme ISO through HDMI and may or may not record internally depending on needs. Mostly it will only stream through HDMI and the Atem will record all streams. Thank you in advance!
I'm confident that you can although I have never done any livestreaming so I don't know much about it. What I can say is that there no longer a 30 minute recording limit on newer canon cameras including the R6 mark II.
Not sure if I missed it in the video, but do all the video autofocus modes work with an EF RF adapter? Was hoping the vehicle autofocus is still there while using an EF lens on it.
There is no reason why it shouldn't work. I can't confirm as I haven't tried it but I have not heard anyone say that you lose those AF modes with EF glass.
No for the focal length to stay the same or similar you need a speed booster. Viltrox makes a good one but you can only find it used these days. Canon makes a good one but it's too expensive in my opinion.
I do not like the look of the images that the R6 mark ii creates. There is something strikingly beautiful and well balanced about the original R6 images, which is missing in the mark ii version. The mark ii images are overly sharp and have the life sucked out of them. Almost a sterile and dead look. It makes the images look generic and kind of cheap. I think this might has something to do with the low-pass filter they have removed. It removes the whole feel and look of the photo's. Especially for portraits it is a huge step down from the original R6.
I just read that Canon has added some "artificial sharpness optimizer" to the R6 mark ii to counteract the effects of the low pass filter, which is a shame in my opinion. The Canon R6 and R5 have this stunning cinematic quality in their photo's, I find that this quality and feel is missing in the R6 Mark ii images. I too thought that the clinically sharp, almost lifeless, empty and artificial look was caused by removing the low pass filter. But it seems it is caused by some artificial sharpening system. It is especially noticeable and disturbing while shooting people/portraits. I will definitely keep my original R6, as I feel it has the perfect look and balance while the R6 mark ii does not give me the look I want and feels a bit like a failed experiment with the (overly) artificial sharpness.
For God's sake. Tell me another camera that costs 2500 dollars or 3120 euros, and ONLY has: 1. IPB 2. The WORST CODECS for any editor program or computer (Windows or Mac) 3. To write 10bit 4.2.2 ONLY IN c-log !!! 4. Not being able to solve the wobbling problem !!! 5. Not being able to solve the problem with Hunting Auto-focus (PROBABLY IT'S WORSE THAN THE ORIGINAL R6) The Cripple Hammer Strikes Again !!! I guess i Answer your question : 5 Things You Should Know Before Buying The Canon R6 Mark II, JUST DON'T BUY !👎
Out of everything you mentioned the only one that really bothers me is the IBIS wobble. Other than that for what I use the camera for it's almost perfect. Depends what you need out of it I guess.
Hi, I'm preparing to film a documentary (interviews) about immigrants for a student project. I got a fund of $3000 and will have to pay some more from my pocket. I'm struggling to buy Canon EOS R5 vs. Canon R6 Mark II. I want to film 4k 24 fps (and sometimes slow motion 60 or 120) with a length of 45 mins. I wonder which camera will be less overheated when filming? Can I buy this lens for either of the two cameras? Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM Lens I mean, I am trying to choose the best affordable camera and lens. Can someone please give me some advice? Yes, I'm a newbie/beginner!
If you want to go ultra budget check out the Sony ZV-E10 or Canon R50. The lens you talked about will work on both the R6 II and R5 and R50. In my opinion the best camera you can buy right now in the $2000 price range is the Lumix S5 II
@@FulaanCreative Thank you for the advice! I'm watching your review of Lumix S5 II right now. Can you please suggest some lenses for this camera? I will film interviews indoors primarily. Also, a microphone and memory cards to go with it?

@@V1ZNS. yes they are switching from EF-m to rf-s. The R6 mark II is an RF camera though so it's not effected by any of that. Maybe your thinking about the M6 Mark II.
@@FulaanCreative So I found it and it’s called Aspect Markers (Shooting Info. Disp. > Aspect Markers > 9:16). That paired with the vertical auto focus box could be amazing especially since when we shoot vertical there is lens distortion at the wide angles of the frame. I have the R6 not MKII and that was one of the upgrades that it got that didn’t hit the R6. But I’ve seen no one talk about it out side of Jared Polin mentioning it in his R6MKii pReview video at 24:31. I’m considering getting out of one of my regular R6s for the Mark Two but this was the last thing I wanted some user feedback on I terms of the shot after the crop to 9:16. I know that was a lot. Lol!
4k 60 can overheat after 40 minutes of recording but 4k 24p is no problem. Not sure about aperture priority for video as canons auto video modes have always been lacking anyway.
Some people like the ultra sharp look so it's a preference thing. The R6 is great but unfortunately still has the 30 minute record limit. Other than that I would prefer that over an R7 personally.
@@FulaanCreative heck yea buddy thank you. Most of my off-roading videos I only shoot short clips and usually never over 10 minutes so I should be good. What do you think about Fuji cameras?
the r6ii is absolutely and definitively sh1te in low light focusing. Did an dancing event and could not hit the mark most of the time, which is embarrassing for a paid gig. Had to revert to the 5diii I had luckily brought along and THAT worked better. And yes, I tried different AF modes etc and was on case 2.
Do you know why it doesn't have Log2 like the R6 ? it only has Log3 which has lot more noise... software update ? Doesn't look good for me to combine the video from the original R6, for wedding videography
If I'm not mistaken they added it to the original R6 through a firmware update. Hopefully they will do the same for the mark ii. If not it's a bit of a bummer.

Thanks for watching and commenting.
The comment I searched for.
Awesome! I'm glad it was helpful to you.
These aren’t camera problems lol. Click bait
The r6 mark ii is garbage. Panasonic s5ii is going to make this camera obsolete
Does ist wprk Good with Video?
Thanks for sharing. Good to know.

Thanks for the kind words and also for sharing your experience and knowledge. Should be very helpful info for any Nikon shooters in the audience.
Honestly from what you described I would suggest this: ruclips.net/video/XnrTdDCRhI4/видео.html
600-800mm
I've owned a sony a7IV before and the only downside was the poor stabilization even on tripods and such it was just bad. Do you think this one behaves better?
Hello. The stabe should be great at that focal length. The problem with Canon IBIS isn't in the longer focal lengths but mostly with wide and especially ultrawide focal lengths.
@@FulaanCreative appreciate it! Thanks a lot
Fantastic explanations Fulaan!
I am in the process of deciding between the Lumix S5iiX, or the Canon R6ii - your videos help a lot.

Bro, I LOVE your vids! So much vital info! Thanks!
Thanks man! I appreciate that.
No overheating when shooting in 4k60? That seems like a good thing to know for people who want to shoot long-form 4K60, right?
True that is an important feature. At this price point I wouldn't expect less though
My camera of choice under $3000 is the Lumix S5 MArk II
Thanks for this great review! I use now one R6 and I wanna buy a second one for video + photography, I do weddings.
Should I upgrade? Today R6 cost in my country
1730$ and r6 i 2600$ plus taxes.
Is it worth the extra 870$ ???
Till now on weedings I never had problems with heating because I don't record never more than
15-20min in once.
I use a back up camera 5d iv for video.
Should I upgrade?

I kind of feel like you are shouting at me during the whole video. Anyway, otherwise a very good video with a lot of useful advice.
You are welcome. Thanks for the feedback.
😂
@@FulaanCreative HA Thats great advice. Thank you . I'll take this into consideration.
Late to the game, but I outgrew my other Canon and just purchased a R6 Mii. I am guessing I can still use my old lenses from my T7i and if yes what adapter do I get?
Yes you can use EF and EF-S lenses. I'd grab the Meike EFT-R adapter. It's great.
This is very well put together and a lot of work put into it! Great job man😁
Thanks a ton!
The clamp should be compatible with most cages but check the description as amazon sometimes shows a substitute product if it is out of stock.
I personally really loved the color grading of this video. What's was the lens used or what was the secret to achieving this color style ?😃

Hello. Both cameras are more than good enough. Just make sure you expose properly and you should be just fine.
You made me spend my wife’s money on this R6MKII 😂😂😂
Making these incredibly, informative videos.
Lol! My bad man : )
I've actually been trying to get the Sony look, the sharpness and image detail out of my Canon 6D.
@@FulaanCreative Yes I think renting them and actually trying them out would be the best way to go. Thanks for the reply!

This is imho the IBIS sounding.
@@FulaanCreative You wont hear it in footage, it's a faint sound coming out the back that you have to put your ear up to the camera to hear (and you need good hearing)
@@peterspatz6918 Seems logical, but why don't the R6 and R5 make this sound? And why does the sound exist when you turn OFF the IBIS?
you can also just use lens filters if you want to still buy RF or EF lenses on your r6mk2. That way your not limited to buying wasted lenses and can still take nice sharp photos or videos when needed.
Of course, certain application would call for sharp footage. like sports or corporate stuff so it's a good idea to have both. Especially considering how affordable many vintage lenses are.
Wonderful video. Just handed over my Tamron EF 2.8 lenses to my son and a Meike drop in ND for xmas. To be used on an R5. Is really wonderful.

thank you for the video. i'm not sure if you will know the answer to my question but i'm gonna give it a shot. i rented the R6 mark II for the weekend for a special event and first night i came home and popped the SD card into my 2014 Macbook Pro and my laptop won't recognize any files...at all.
Hi brother. What u choose R6 mark ii or sony a7iv?
Hello. ruclips.net/video/dcOcNLdCRHQ/видео.html
Great video man!!! Thanks for the content
Thanks! I appreciate that.

Great video!! New to cameras here and looking into the M50 due to price and ease of use. Love the tips and tricks you give on filming. Even though I can't afford the better cameras still love watching the videos.
Thanks Alex! I appreciate that.
You dontmention that this camera has a new "hot shoe" that prevents using the
canon 600 RTII flash and some triggers.
the manual has some fine print that warns you about that. Have to buy an adapter !
Yeah, I didn't know about that when making this vid. Thanks for sharing.
Where is the adapter link for canon eos r6 ii ? I want to try Tamron 24-70 f2.8
It's the link that says Meike Drop In ND Adapter
The adapter works great!!! Especially with the drop in variable NDs.
R6 MKII - Card Recording not supported with clean HDMI out :(
Canon has done it again.
removed a basic feature that existed for 15 years since in the 5D MKIII that (with MagicLantern) that seems to be still the only Canon camera that can Livestream and Record internally (as backup) a long video session like the full day conference that im streaming at the moment without stopping every 29:59.
i havnt checked the R7 R10 R50 R3 R8 yet, but i have the feeling that this is the case on most if not all new - continuously recording canon hybrid cameras.
i am completely bewildered by this move and very dissapointed to say the least. I am giving up on the hope for a proper all rounder from canon at this point. just don't trust them anymore.
im also quite surprised that nowhere is this mentioned in all the many reviews praising this camera. maybe no one streams multicam with Canon cameras, but if you are - be aware.

Honestly I wouldn't recommend this camera to a shooter that leans heavily to video. When I made this video the S5 II hadn't come out yet. Considering you can use your EF canon glass on the S5II with an adapter and get perfect AF it doesn't make sense to get the R6II over the S5II unless your a hybrid shooter that leans more on the stills side.
hi in Sony you can "dial down" the video digital sharpness in picture profile. Not posible with canon?
Yes you can. I think Canon calls it clarity in the menu system. I have it all the way down but still like to have a 1/8 strength mist filter on there.
Great video.. thanks for the valuable info
You are welcome : )
What adapter do i need to be able to attach the Helios Vinatge Lens onto mt canon r6 mark ii?
Also, thanks for the vidros on shutter speed and motion blur. Will check them out.
MasshaAllah beautiful video.. i missed rowing with u couch hahahahah
Haha! Yasir. Good to see you. How is Malaysia?
ok question, is the Atamos Ninja V full touch while my flippy on the camera is black ???
Great info!!!
The easier is just to adjust the sharpness setting on the camera color profile, its that easy....
Even with sharpness turned all the way down in many cases it's still too sharp for filmmaking. Mostly due to 6k downsampled to 4k. For sports and tech videos it's great but for traditional filmmaking digital sharpness isn't very pleasing for many.
@@FulaanCreative well that makes sense...
Really useful info, thanks! Wondering if a vintage Super Takumar 35mm lens will fit the R6 Mark II though...
@@FulaanCreative Thank you!
Can I use third party lens without an adapter?
There won't be any 3rd party RF lenses so that leaves only EF lenses which you would need an adapter for.
Your channel is gold, especially since I’m considering getting the r6 ii in combinación with my Sony
Thanks! I appreciate that.
Great video as usual Fulaan!
Thanks Wesam!
Keeping the lense without the end cap on a shelf?😮
I know...I gotta find those end caps : )
Not sure if I missed it in the video, but do all the video autofocus modes work with an EF RF adapter? Was hoping the vehicle autofocus is still there while using an EF lens on it.
There is no reason why it shouldn't work. I can't confirm as I haven't tried it but I have not heard anyone say that you lose those AF modes with EF glass.
@@FulaanCreative thank you!
Trying to decide between R6ii and Fuji XH2s
This youtuber made video that might help ruclips.net/video/O3K1SGX6ROs/видео.html
So you can you use canon aps lenses wıth meıke adapter and the focal length wıll stay the same?
No for the focal length to stay the same or similar you need a speed booster. Viltrox makes a good one but you can only find it used these days. Canon makes a good one but it's too expensive in my opinion.
Can I use the EF-S lenses for filming withe the R6 m2 in 4K?
You should be able to although I haven't done it personally.
Interesting. Thanks for sharing your experience. I will have to compare photos from both cameras when I get a chance.
@@mariavanschie7946 i wonder if there is a setting to turn it off.
Does it affect shooting RAW ? or only jpegs
@@stripes_in_raw Both!
I subscribed :) Thank you for the great information.
Awesome, thank you!
For God's sake.
Tell me another camera that costs 2500 dollars or 3120 euros, and ONLY has:
1. IPB
2. The WORST CODECS for any editor program or computer (Windows or Mac)
3. To write 10bit 4.2.2 ONLY IN c-log !!!
4. Not being able to solve the wobbling problem !!!
5. Not being able to solve the problem with Hunting Auto-focus (PROBABLY IT'S WORSE THAN THE ORIGINAL R6)
The Cripple Hammer Strikes Again !!!
I guess i Answer your question : 5 Things You Should Know Before Buying The Canon R6 Mark II,
JUST DON'T BUY !👎
Out of everything you mentioned the only one that really bothers me is the IBIS wobble. Other than that for what I use the camera for it's almost perfect. Depends what you need out of it I guess.
So for 35mm . Wobble is gone ?
Generally yes.
Very cool video bro!! Thank you 👍🏼👍🏼☺️
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Well deserved! :)
Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM Lens
I mean, I am trying to choose the best affordable camera and lens.
@@thuytrinhnguyen8497 I'd grab the sandisk extreme pro 512gb sd card, I'd grab the Sigma 16-28 for l-mount. For a microphone I'd go with the takstar sgc-600. You can find links to all these items in the video description of my s5 mark ii vid. Hope that helps.
Is this camera discontinued?
The R6 Mark II?
@@FulaanCreative Yeah, I seen a few videos where they said Canon is discontinuing their EF-M platform. Not sure if this is true or not though
@@V1ZNS. yes they are switching from EF-m to rf-s. The R6 mark II is an RF camera though so it's not effected by any of that. Maybe your thinking about the M6 Mark II.
@@FulaanCreative yes, I was thinking of the M6 II
@@V1ZNS. that's funny. I literally did the same thing the other day.
Have you used the vertical video mask/grid in the R6 Mark II. I don't see too many videos talking about it and Im trying to get more info about it.
Unfortunately I haven't nor do I know anything about it.
Lol!
@@producerbenford Gotchya. I'll have to look into it if possible.
the audio of the native files from this camera... is it PCM ou AAC when you shot at normal IPB 4K fine?
Honestly I'm not sure. It looks like it records in linear but you can choose AAC as well. You may want to ask Canon regarding that.
I appreciate the info but my biggest concern is does it still overheat in 4k and does it finally include aperture priority mode in video?
4k 60 can overheat after 40 minutes of recording but 4k 24p is no problem. Not sure about aperture priority for video as canons auto video modes have always been lacking anyway.
informative on R6 mk II
Thanks John.
can you record baked in luts with this r6 mark ii camera ?
No I don't think you can but I'm not sure as I never checked.
Too sharp!? I was thinking about a R7 but the used R6 prices are pretty tempting right now
Some people like the ultra sharp look so it's a preference thing.
@@Colorado4x4 they look interesting to me but the AF unreliability stops me from trying one out.
@@FulaanCreative thanks bro
how do you old lenses and vintage lenses with r6 makr 2?
You need to buy an adapter. In the case of the Helios lens you would most likely need an M42 mount to RF mount adapter.
I think to 24mm, the problem of wide-angle swing can be eliminated
You mean anything after 24mm?
kudos to you man! the video was interesting❤
Thanks! I appreciate that.
does the r6 cage fit the r6ii?
I believe that it does but haven't tried it myself.
the r6ii is absolutely and definitively sh1te in low light focusing. Did an dancing event and could not hit the mark most of the time, which is embarrassing for a paid gig. Had to revert to the 5diii I had luckily brought along and THAT worked better. And yes, I tried different AF modes etc and was on case 2.
Sorry to hear that.
How's the autofocus with the tamron lens u talked about
It's great. No issues at all

just want to confirm, will my yongnuo fkashes for canon dslr, work on the R6II without any adaptors and just fit straight on.Thanks
Please indicate that your photo camera review video is intended for video makers. How hard can it be?
You are right it is a photo camera but it can also be argued that it is a Hybrid camera as much as it is a photo camera so it is what it is....
The first problem of sharpness can't we just decrease the amount of sharpness on picture profile or in canon log
Yes, I always do that and it helps for sure but a mist filter still helps and gives a softer highlight roll off.
Just found your channel. Great content and thanks for sharing your knowledge. Subbed.

Wait isnt this the same video as the R8 !?
Some of the points are different but it has some shared points and some of the same footage

Nonetheless a video focussing on the cons is very effective :D
So sorry : (
Hence why it's such a popular method : )
Yo rappin' good bro!
Lol. Interesting Observation.
Thank you
You are very welcome : )
You could just get a micro hdmi to hdmi adapter
it will still be plugged in to the mini/micro HDMI of the camera which is flimsy and can easily break.
@@FulaanCreative so be careful with it! :)
@@Psyclonus7 Of course but that's not the point. Full size HDMI is more secure. The cage will clamp the cable in place and prevent potential damage.
