Thank you! Best install vid I’ve seen so far. A few others show a complete disassemble of the front end. This actually looks much easier. Thanks for posting and the link to the bulbs!
I thinking going through the fender liner is a bit of a hassle, but better than having to remove the front bumper and the headlights. I much prefer to have to remove as little as possible!
Good video thanks! But now the real question: Where do I find the wire that I need to connect to when I'm installing extra lights on the car, like a lightbar?
They are about the same as a brand new stock bulb. Going from 4300k to 6k bulb is the biggest difference as now you have a bright white light and not that hint of yellow from the oem bulbs. The Morimoto bulbs also come with a 3 year warranty.
I’m about to do this but want to get something clear. You mentioned clockwise and counterclockwise but the motions were the opposite. Should I follow this using opposite of what you said?
I get my clockwise and counter clockwise mixed up on occasion 😂. Do whatever motion I did and not what I said 😆. 5500k to 6000k is definitely my preferred temp range for HID and LED Bulbs!
@@DariusBuildz sounds good! My friend and I postponed the job until tomorrow evening. I ended up getting the D4S 35w bulbs with 8000k. It was a match for the 2014 Mazda6 on Amazon. The dealership wanted to charge $510 to replace both bulbs. Hoping it’s only the bulbs and not the ballast or igniter. Sometimes the headlight works and others it doesn’t. It’s a new thing as of this week.
If the bulbs are 4+ years old, they probably need to be switched. After so many hours of usage, the hid bulbs color fade and the lumens decrease. I switched mine out for led bulbs on a video I did a few months back. They are just as bright as the hid’s and only cost about $60. ruclips.net/video/7Il1XzC2W9A/видео.htmlsi=l-fJgOuE8nF3fvPC Give it a look and see if that’s the route you want to tank. The bulbs were a pain to get in with the headlights in the car.
As they age, them dim and color shift. I guess unless you have a lumen meter is really no way to know, but your eyes ( for the most part) is a good judge of brightness
I'm trying to buy the Phillips Extreme Vision D4S Bulbs but some of the websites I'm looking at have pictures with D2S bulbs when purchasing the D4S. Are they interchangeable with the Mazda xenon headlight assembly?
the d2s bulbs are not interchangeable. A lot of the websites don't post accurate photos and may use a stock photo. When it doubt of what you are ordering, you can just email them to make sure you are getting the correct bulb, or cross reference the bulb model number to make sure it the correct one.
The AFS wouldn’t be bc of the headlight bulb. I would imagine the AFS itself is not functioning properly. Im not sure the component of the AFS system or how to diagnose it
In this single bulb HID/xenon hi/low setup, the bulb only has one setting. For high beam, the shield drops, allowing the bulb to reflect off of more of the reflector bowl to allow the light beam to spread more.
The thing would be finding an adapter for the plug that plugs into the ballast and finding a LED bulb that goes into the D4S bulb socket. Those are going to be your obstacles. And even then, in terms of brightness, you will be moving backwards as the HID bulbs has more lumens that the LED's
I would of liked a before and after image, looking to change the bulbs on my car....... But not sure if they will be any brighter..... Do you have an after video of the lights at night? 👍
Fair point, but it is so hard to get an accurate representation since the Go Pro adjusts and tries to keep everything the same and I don't think there is a override for manual settings. My bulbs were oem, so they were 6 years old, so they were possibly on the brink of going out and they were starting to color shift. I don't have any video at night, and my windshield is tinted so the video wouldn't be accurate from inside of the car.
You can but that extra wattage equals more heat and that may burn the chrome in the projector bowl. i've seen it happen in some cases. And GT headlights are not cheap.
Light output does not come across very well or accurate since the camera automatically adjusts so I normally don’t bother with trying to show light output.
@@saifhassan9673 I have seen plenty and written plenty of reviews. The "brightness" of the bulb can be manipulated to look brighter with the ISO settings in any camera or decent editing app which is exactly what a lot of manufactures and sellers do to get more sells as well as they put false claims about how many lumens the bulbs really are. I am well aware. However, this is not a bulb review video. This is a install / replacement video with an OEM equivalent replacement bulb, so you can expect OEM like performance with a tad less yellow and a tad more pure white.
Not too bad, as long as the sound is off. Can you explain why you're telling people to turn things clockwise in order to remove it when in fact it needs to be turned counterclockwise or as some people call it, anticlockwise.
Your clocks must run backwards in your house lol. Left is counter, right is clockwise. Thanks for the help though!
Sometimes I put my head on backwards when I wake up in the morning.
Anaaaaannnnnnd 35 minutes later I saved a bundle of money. Thank you! 👍 (2015 6 GT - excellent instructions)
Glad it helped! It’s crazy how much charge to replace the headlight bulbs!

I’m glad it will help! I avoid front end assembly if at all possible! The fog lights can be assess the same way! A future video is coming for that.
Thanks for the upload! Shout out to all the Mazda 6 owners!
I hoped it helped!
This video saved me 600$ in repair-costs. Thank you very much Sir!
They were going to charge $600 for two bulbs and to replace them?
Thank you. With this video i changed the driver side light in like 15 min :)
Nice! And saved a bunch of money!
Thanks for putting the video together.
My pleasure!
Nicely done. Good video. Totally covered the subject. I may be ready to try when it warms up.

Very detailed and the best demonstration ever thank you sir
Glad it was helpful!
This helped me! Thanks!
I’m glad it was helpful!!
Thanks for the vid. Every other video has a poverty spec halogen bulb which doesn't help when switching our nicer HID bulbs
That was the main reason I did the video bc I couldn’t find any that did a good job explaining it. That the bias for majority of my videos 😂
We both running morimotos! They always look good
They are a solid company and I have been running their bulbs since 2013 or so!
Thanks for the help man!
Im glad it could help and hopefully saved you a time and/or some money!
Yes you did! You're the man!
Thanks for the vid
No problem!
Good video thanks! But now the real question: Where do I find the wire that I need to connect to when I'm installing extra lights on the car, like a lightbar?
Are you trying to have the lightbar come on with the lights, with the high beam, or what exactly?
@@DariusBuildz yes exactly that 😊 Couldn't find the controlling current, or what it's called in English 😅
How much brighter are these from stock? I got diode dynamic 6000 and they were awful and hard to see at night and dim.

Your welcome!
How can I know if it must be replaced? It’s working but what about the burning etc..

How did you disconnect the plug that is connected to the cap? Not the one that is attached to the lightbulb.
The cover on the back of the headlight?
Damn why have they made it so much work to change a bulb
Atleast we don’t have to remove the front bumper and the headlight to change the bulbs. That’s pretty much standard now across the board.
Thank you
Good explanation
Anytime!
Changed these bulbs on my 2015 Mazda and the AFS is still blinking? Anyone know why?
Was the AFS light blinking prior?
@@DariusBuildz yes

does the morimoto bulb output both low and high beam?
In this single bulb HID/xenon hi/low setup, the bulb only has one setting. For high beam, the shield drops, allowing the bulb to reflect off of more of the reflector bowl to allow the light beam to spread more.
Can you completely get rid of hid and replace with like Led bulbs if so do you know the part number?
The thing would be finding an adapter for the plug that plugs into the ballast and finding a LED bulb that goes into the D4S bulb socket. Those are going to be your obstacles. And even then, in terms of brightness, you will be moving backwards as the HID bulbs has more lumens that the LED's

The link for the Marimotos are for 55w or 35w? That amazon link does not show if it's 35 or 55W.
They will be 35w bulbs. No need to run the 55w if you do not have 55w ballast.
Where did you order your bulbs from?
Amazon from the TheRetrofitSource Amazon store. The link is in the description
Anyone else here cause they were staring under the hood clueless how tf they are supposed to get at the low beam?
before or after the video? lol
Will OEM ballast work with Morimoto 35v d4s bulb?
Yes. The OEM ballast should work for all 35w D4S bulbs.
What size wheels you got to have rub?
19x9/10 +24 and 20x8.5/9.5 +26. my old 20x10 +40 was tight as well, even with the 245/35.
Can I replace the stock D4s 35w to a 55w D4s???
