Engineered Garments has been my go to essential lately. Great western military-esque patterns and fabrics with a Japanese taper. And lately lots of great earthy tones to explore, if that’s your thing
Two things, first wanted to give an honourable mention to Edifice. Second, thanks Reggie for putting me onto En Route! Bought a whole bunch of their pieces and absolutely in love, especially with their long down jacket!
I love monkey time! Especially their exclusive collabs such as champion and the fact that they are also like a select shop since they carry items from some other brands such as pleasures etc. You can really get some awesome stuffs during sales period
Totally agree on Hare, it was indeed one of my entry points as well. Have come to appreciate Edifice and Nanamica (and the Goldwin umbrella?) in the past couple of years. Work NOT Work from the Urban Research family is my “cost effective” essentials as of late 😜
It's always interesting to see Japanese fashion have large clothing pieces in the advertising or even Instagram fit pics, but when you go to a store it's all medium or smaller.
This is amazing! You got me out here taking notes. I just found your channel from your video with Polygon, and I love how both thorough and concise you are. I'm so glad I found your channel.
Love the take on essentials being that pertaining to individual style versus being stylish in a general sense. Reminds me of this quote from one of your previous videos - “Conformity at the expense of character is too much of an ask.”
What I call my “essentials” are not the basics most versatiles pieces but rather the special one. The exclusive pieces that I’ve kept for years are what’s essential to me and my personal style.
Just picked up two pairs of beautiful pants from Public Tokyo. Amazing silhouette and masterful cut. Their labels tell you where exactly in Japan they were made. Interesting details.
Rageblue first and I already know it's a good list. I bought 2 shirts from their store in Hong Kong around 5 years ago or more and they still hold up to this day.
I really love the fashion you are presenting. This is definitely my aesthetic, and despite living in fashion-loving France, there is nothing approaching this kind of style. Well at least we have Uniqlo ;) ;) ;)
now that you mentioned it (very briefly tho), I'd kinda like a video on jieda or something. Love their style and got myself a winter coat from them for super cheap during an one-hour zozotown sale. Btw keep up the good work reggie お疲れさまでした
I've heard good things about Comoli too, but I guess we are threading the luxury price levels there already, so... On the other hand, I don't think it is fair to compare with Uniqlo (probably the reason was just for grabbing the viewers' attention anyway...) because it is on the most frugal end of the spectrum and I bet most of these brands have no problem in asking 3x to 4x the price for the same piece of clothing.

That’s a sleeper!! Love a lot of what they offer. Perhaps we need to give them a shout on a list.

Pretty solid list. Journal Standard is also a good place for basics/ essentials when I was out there.
Also a good option

Japan has been holding it down for year and they just keep getting better. Nihon Daisuki all the way.
This is a MUST NEED list, I didn’t know I needed.

XTRA MEDIUM

That's great and all, but I don't live in Japan, and shipping will be a nightmare lmao
You need to learn about proxy-buying services my friend
@@Obie. that just means shipping will be 50% of the total purchase, unless I spend like $1000 or more

Thank you for the tips! Another brand I would add is United Tokyo. My favorite!

What a list - six of which I have never came across and will be happy to check out.
Take care Reggie, hope you to stay healthy
scroll through zozo it's like a wikipedia for japanese take on fashion and you can discover a lot of basic brands
Giving secrets away😅
Thank you! I came across this brand called CODA. Super vibey
Nice one 👍appreciate the breakdown
dang bless youtube for putting this on my recommended
uniform bridge and goopimade are two brands that i have been loving lately

Do you have a video on how to buy on Japanese brand websites if you are from the states? Sizing, buying, and shipping/returns?
checked out antiqua, love them! great suggestions. thank you

Nice breakdowns Nice flow
Thanks dude for this very interesting video
Me and the bois at 4am lookin' for *B E A M S*
Man do a video for the taller and/ or bigger people! Love finding brands then find there L is still so so small!
My issues with Japanese brands is I love them, but they don’t fit the big dudes. I’m 6’4 275. My arm alone can’t get in a shirt lol.
🤣🤣🤣 man I’m sorry for that bruh! But I understand. So many of my big and tall homies come to Japan and are like “bruh I can’t get none of this ish”
I might grab one piece in my next trip in Tokyo
own some pieces from rageblue, beams and monkey time, really worth the money spent.
Used to own a ton of Rage Blue myself
Does anyone know what hoodie Reggie is wearing in this? Looks like a single piece.
wheres' that chain on your neck from brother? lovely!!
Quick question. How do you actually buy clothing from, say, Rage Blue? Does it take long to ship etc. What if my sizing doesn't fit?
this was fire!!!!
amazing video brother 💪
Monkey time doesn't ship to the US which is unfortunate, as the dickies pants collab is a must need for me
nice vid man!
E S S E N T I A L B O I S
I’d really like to hear your take on AMBUSH
Thanks for the list!
But where's UNIQLO, though?
Great video as unusual!!!
Is this all expensive? I want to get into Japanese brands but in an economical way
Great video.
Do they ship to the US?
🤝
Did you forget Still By Hand?
Yes
Reggie, where did you grab your hoodie?
As a curvier woman who is big by Japanese standards, I found myself shopping almost exclusively at western brands while I was living in Osaka.
Honorable mention: Auralee
Love the brands but the standard shoulder width in Japan is impossible for me
If u want something you can work into a Japanese style look I recommend willy Chavarria or noon goons.
What hoodie are you wearing ?
By the way, is there a name for the oversized look? Thanks!
Can anyone id the light Green quilted jacket in the thumbnail?
Very good...
And how does this all fit on a tall boy? I’m 6’2/188cm 🥲
I need a video like this, but specifically for bigger dudes-
Hey, what brand is the jacket on the left in the thumbnail??
04:46 need for these shoes, i can't find em someone know them? or similar style
TK is excellent 😸
Can you buy from any of these brands overseas
Very nice
Rehacer only ship in japan? Im in italy and i want to know how can i buy from that site?
Which ones are uniqlo price levels?
You re cool homie . Really really cool .
Can I buy any of this in USA tho?
Can you order online from these stores?
Yes but you need a shopping service as a middle man to do so, if it doesn't let you directly buy it.
@@witchingbrew3 do you know any?
Do you know any good essentials for pants that are 44inch waist or higher? I need something a little on the wider side in the waist sadly.
I’m really interested in antiqua but is there anyway I can get it if I’m not in Japan ?
Do these have international shipping? I’m not really planning to visit japan anytime soon :D
Many of them now do
Where to Buy them in usa
How about GU? As someone from the west I've recently run into them and they seem like a staple of Japanese basics.
True GU could make this list but they’re owned by Fast Retailing which is the head company of Uniqlo.😅
GU is like the poor cousin of Uniqlo.
WHERE IS SHIMAMURA!!!!!
are any of these brands that ship internationally straight from the store?
Nearly all of them do now. I know for sure Beams as UA have international shipping.
Goooddd videoi

Mühendislik elbiseleri son zamanlarda yurt dışında trend oldu modanın Türkiye gelmesini bekliyorum artık gerçekten.

I don't, everyone always names Uniqlo is all. Everybody knows it.
