    Any tips on finding retro electronics? eg 80's and 90s walkmans, headsets and other audio elecronics? I live in the suburbs surrounded by thousands of elderly japanese people and I can SENSE the piles of old gear just sitting in their homes gathering dust for the past 30 years. Places like Akihabara are not so great because they usually stockpile all the high-deamand retro items for a premium. I prefer some treasure hunting.

    • @miguel_valero
      @miguel_valero  Год назад +2

      not 100% familiar bro, but maybe you could try shops like Hard Off, pretty sure they buy, sell and trade for electronics and have branches throughout Tokyo. And yeah I can imagine Akihabara would be expensive!

    Hi there used to be youtube clips about the actual 1950s vintage Americana scene in Japan (no not vintage shops but the actual 1950's scene). It was older footage (before y2K generation). I remember seeing very cool dudes decked out in 1950s Americana..and they had there own scene at various swing clubs and bebop bars etc. No i am not talking about the leather clad Elvis characters that dance at Yoji park either- it was something different and much cooler....now i cant find it anywhere on youtube. Do you happen to know where i can track down these uploads? Whenever i search for rockabilly, its always those guys that dance at the park, that comes up.

Hmmm kinji is great (one in harajuku and one in Shimokitazawa as well) they definitely are more thrift vibes so nothing too curated but if you have time to browse the shelves you could find something. This is a very niche question but I’m going to Tokyo soon and I’m thinking about picking up a denim jacket with a unique design on the back, branching out from what I usually wear. Do you have any suggestions on where to look for that kind of thing, and if so the rough price point I should expect? No worries if not, great video all the same!

    • @miguel_valero
      @miguel_valero  3 месяца назад +1

      hey mate! can’t go wrong with that type of denim jacket! Really good question, but I would say you could potentially find stuff like that in Ameyo-Yokocho which is a shopping street in the Ueno area. If you try vintage shopping in Shimokitazawa I feel you may find shops that do those designs. Price point depends on the age/brand of the item but probably looking at 50-100USD on the cheap end and probably 300+ on more branded ones. Thank you for watching

    What store do you recommend for leather jackets, motorcycle jackets and biker accessories?

    • @miguel_valero
      @miguel_valero  2 месяца назад +1

      i would a lot of the ones i mentioned curate a lot of leather especially during winter, but you could try JAM or Chicago in particular! Another shop called Kinji might have what you want to. Dylan in Shimokitazawa is also a good bet

      thanks for watching! Planning to do a dedicated Shimokitazawa video at some point. Not all of them buy, they’ll usually have signs in the store that states whether they buy/sell/trade

    Are there any thrift stores that have things for tall men? Or up to like Western XL in men's? I'm Japanese size lol but I want to take my brothers who are big & tall; I know oversized is kinda popular there. They're bang-on XL so would that be too hard to find? I don't want to drag them around if nothing would fit them..
    Also:
    Any good spots for anime t shirt? My friend collects them. :) Appreciate ya!

    • @miguel_valero
      @miguel_valero  Год назад +1

      hey bro appreciate the question! I would say in general most stores have Western XL/XXL sizes and some even have 3XL/4XL, but it can be hit or miss. I know one store that’s called UpperUpper located in Ueno that always have super oversized/big sizing, they stock a lot of classic streetwear in their basement and a little workwear at the ground level
      instagram.com/uprupr?igshid=MWQ1ZGUxMzBkMA==
      Another shop i know that has some bigger sizing is Fifty Fifty located in Koenji!
      Not too familiar with any anime t, but best bet would be to shop around Akihabara, which is like a suburb known for anime, gaming and electronics
