I did exactly that. I was told to get a pre-owned Rolex in Japan, but when I got there I chose to buy a new Seiko and a pre-owned Grand Seiko. Plus, you can find watches that are exclusive to that market.
I'm obsessed with the shunbun, hoping to buy one next year. The SBGH339 is awesome too 🤝 great taste. You might enjoy talking watches with the other fans in the discord!
Wow I really like those vintage stores. There might be a rare watch just sitting in the corner. Nice video guys. I really like how you explore this new concept, and I hope to see more videos like these in the future.
Thank you so much! Which store/watch specifically did you like? And yeah you never know what you're gonna see at these places, makes the hunt WAYYY more fun in my opinion 🙂🙏
@@TheJapaneseFactory I have been wanting to buy a Reverso. So I went by the friendly JLC boutique in Ginza to try on the different sizes. I really liked the new large 49mm Reverso chronogragh but they had it reserved for another customer. While there I saw the Polaris Memovox and wow it is awesome. I also liked the IWC store and the new Ingenieur. So many options out there make it hard to choose.
Amazing episode!! I need to visit japan asap. I love vintage watches. Coincidently today I was able to put my hands on a Seiko Chariot in great conditions...It is really hard to find here in Brazil. I suppose it is pretty easy to find in these stores.
@@Mike-DuBose no worries, pleasure to help! If you have any models or brands you are specifically looking for I'd be happy to write down a short list of stores for you to visit! 😁
@@TheJapaneseFactory I am planning to pick up a new Black Bay 54 on a rubber strap. I was thinking of getting it at the TUDOR Boutique Ginza. Once my visit is set I was going to call them to make sure that they have one in stock so that I can pick it up on my second day in Tokyo. If you have any better ideas of where I should shop for one I would be happy to hear your advice. I will also visit the subject of this video. I don't know if I will be purchasing anything there but it sure looks like a nice place to visit and look around.
I personally use this place for all my watch related work (maps.app.goo.gl/qBKzvkFxcTEyK78C7?g_st=ac) If you email the master and explain to him what you need in Japanese using DeepL he'll tell you whether he can do it. Otherwise you might need to involve a vintage Seiko modder. Hope it helps!
Lange datograph up/down for half retail is a steal! I bought the citizen homer there like I said in the video and some other cheaper models, absolutely love Nakano Broadway
So I recently want to Nakano broadway and I don't know man. As an avid watch enthusiast some of the deals were hit and miss. The domestics that you could find were really top tier, awesome grand seiko deals and all. Was really close to closing in on a SGBX265 that had a great deal but I found it a touch too tight. I think your main deals you'll find are if you go into the 1-5k range, you'll see some decent deals in that range with some Breitlings in particular being a good spot. They have a good range of vintage Tudor and Rolex but nothing you couldn't find for a decent deal online. There were the two big stores that had a lot of inventory, but it was the smaller shops that were around it that had steals. Like I mentioned GS was cheap, one had a Sinn 856 that was basically new which was a great deal. Definitely check out the smaller shops, might find better stuff. Funny enough they also have a pretty nice audiophile store there too.
I agree with you, I think condition is king in Nakano Broadway, you can get a lot of REALLY good condition watches and considering that the prices are fair but not "cheap", but right now with tax free and exchange rate there's still some decent deals. This video we showed a lot of those smaller places with good deals. But if you're walking in expecting to get a Rolex 70% off of USD retail you won't get that 😂 sinn 856 is nice. A lot of the "new GS" are very cheap compared to their USD retail, GS shunbun is almost $10k USD retail now but you can get one almost new for ~$5k USD in nakano Broadway, sometimes as low as $4300 USD.
@@whereiswilltoday it's on the first floor shop 113, east side! You can browse their stock on their website here it's CRAZY (firekids.jp/) What was your favourite watch either in this video or on their site? 🙂🙏 Thank you for your comment
tried your website however it does not work, seems like your shopify is down? however great video! Quick question though - are there a lot of Grand Seiko under 300k yen there?
We are making some big changes to the Shopify so it needs some time offline, in the meantime if you want to discuss a custom order you can reach us at thejapanesefactory@gmail.com In terms of grand Seiko's under 300k yen, depends on age, condition etc. in terms of newer GS, pretty much all of the new 9f quartz are under 300k yen, and every quartz before that is >300k yen unless it's a special edition like the SBGP017. Most 2010s and earlier mechanical are under 300k yen, but the spring drive pieces are still over 500k yen generally. Would be happy to chat more via discord!
I love Nakano vintage mall always some interesting treasures in there, only thing to worry about is that they aren't overhauled/serviced, if you are worried about that fire kids works a little better since they are overhauled and regulated with 2 year warranty at time of purchase.
Did that Chris guy just finished a some kind of stage play and did not had time to change his outfit ? That Seiko ANA watch is epic. With a 4R36 movement swap that watch will be absolutely epic.
@ When it comes to high end Swiss brands I always was solidly in the Breitling camp. Most Rolex models are quite dull to me. Also I do not like to wear bracelets. And wearing a Rolex on a leather strap will get you weird looks.
is there a place in the world that has a more concentrated selection of off-the-shelf Rolexes in the world? I don't think so. I was at Nakano Broadway about 7 weeks ago and was overwhelmed by the selection and condition of the 2ndary market. I did found it hard to weed through the high-end stuff to discover the less expensive used stuff.
The trick is to go with a specific model in mind and not try to just look for good deals. I had a long list I was looking for, but was also getting overwhelmed, so I picked two I really wanted and went hunting at Nakano. Found one of them for a great price at Kamekichi and came home with a 16570 Explorer.

Amazing Video, Thank you guys!
If I ever go to Japan, I'd buy a Japanese watch, or Germany a German watch, that should be a golden rule.
That's a good rule! What was your favourite watch in this episode?
You’re exactly right and I do the same with my beer. It really amazes me why others don’t see it that way. 👍🏻
