I really enjoyed that! I recognize more than a few of those watches, and feel like I'm seeing pets at a pound that still haven't found a home. One thing I just don't understand is that 16570 at the 6:15 mark. Unless I'm missing something, that ain't now cream dial! (The cream dial Ex.2 is ref. 16550, and has unpainted hands and indices.) I reckon they've got that priced about 2 million yen too much. Someone's going to get hosed on that purchase! And congratulations on hitting the magic 1000 subscription number!
@@watchsymposium Thank you Austin! And its great to mark the milestone with a Nakano trip vid 😄 I was confused about a few prices in that shop, the 16570 being one of them. Still pretty cool to see so many rare watches in one place. If someones splashing $30k+ on an EX2 they ought to know what theyre doing!
I think they're referring to the lume. It's tritium so it will eventually have a creamy look to the indices and hands. As of now though, they look pretty white...Either way, I do not understand that price either.
These Nakano Mall watches are priced for American buyers who enjoy a 40% discount compared to Canadians. The Blancpain swatch black is available in Canada at suggested retail.
U are not missing anything. The watches at nakano Broadway are heavily marked up. You can get em for much lower cost in the states. These utube idiots could have just cut to the chase rather than waste everyone's time with their stupid long winded reviews.
Enjoyed your video, I’ve been there many times and I noticed that you have some inconsistencies in your description of the shops and the floors you’re walking on. Jack and Betty Road would have been a great store for you to film because their inventory is huge. But all in all, I enjoyed your video and understand that filming at Nakano Broadway can be quite a task! Thanks for tackling it. 👍
@@Tee_Cee1601 Thank you! By around the time I went by the shop that sold parts I was already pretty tapped out. I walked around a bit more (with a growingly impatient gf) and then came across Jackroad and Betty. Frankly if I was there alone I wouldve gone in no matter what but I had to get my priorities right 🥲
Thanks for your video! Likewise I’m inspired by Austin D to revisit Nakano. I’ll be there in a few weeks and I’m looking for the polar dial explorer 2 and an all black bezel for the 16710.
Good luck on your search and thanks for watching! You should be able to find plenty of the Explorer 2, and I think the corner shop on the second floor had the bezel in stock.
@@oddpout Seamaster 166.067 565 movement. I don’t even know the name of the shop but it’s all the way on the third floor at the end, it’s a one man operation and he sold it to me for 62000yen @ 400.00 usd. Perfect dial haf it serviced at home to be sure it would last another 50 years.

I’d guess it’s more a function of Japan’s aging population. Life in Japan is quite inexpensive. Don’t think owners are selling out of desperation. Most watches probably come from estates, or retired salarymen who no longer have a reason to wear them.
Osono from K. Camera is awesome. Billion watches is trash. Yeah, after watch W.S, I thought TWC was gonna have tons of watches but they didn't have anything meaningful and prices were high. Kame Kichie is great. They had some of the lowest prices in Japan. I almost bought from there last week. Jack road is great. I picked up my Tudor GMT pro from there on Tuesday. Besides Jack road, you're not missing out on much else from your video in Nakano Broadway. The other shoe were all overpriced with limited selections except Samurai Joy. I totally hear you about getting overwhelmed. I broke my visit there down into 2 different trips. 1 speed rush day to check out all the shops and the other day for a more careful examination. On the last day of my trip in Japan, I came back to Jackroad in the morning and bought my watch.
16710 GMT Master II prices were equivalent to European and USA 🇺🇸 2nd hand markets. The beauty of Japan is that the watches aren’t the proceeds of street robberies. Anyone know what the prices in black and red mean? Have you also visited official Rolex authorised dealers yet? How much tax refund do Canadians 🇨🇦 receive in Japan 🇯🇵?
Generally the cheaper price of the two is the one applied for tourists (tax free). The tax refund is 10%, and I will make a video on my Rolex AD experience soon!
Great video! Thanks for sharing, was super interesting to see all the stores. Are you any closer to figuring out what the elusive next watch will be?
@@Joseph-gv Thank you! And I have. I will share that soon enough 😊
what are the rough discounts available from the list prices ?
Do they have JLC master moon triple calendar, been trying to find this watch,on a black dial

Fellow BC native here, based in Victoria. Headed to Nakano in 2 weeks - did any locations have good inventory of Explorer 1?
Hello! Honestly all of the shops have an amazing selection on the second floor of Nakano. Good luck with your shopping :)
Awesome videos man. I’m going to Japan and am hunting down a 5 digit explorer 2 (polar). Got any big tips after all your experiences?
Oh exciting! I would suggest looking for one with solid end links and lug holes if possible. But definitely shop for the price first and foremost

Nah man, not at all. Most watches I find in Japan were cheaper back home for the most part.
I wish we had shops like this in Canada

Great vid! But why no coverage of Explorer Is or Daytonas?
I selfishly covered mostly the watches that interested me the most. I'll be sure to grab those next time!
Great review! The Explorer 16570 black dial that u tried on comes with certificate or watch only?
That one was watch only if I recall correctly, and thank you 😊
Thanks for the link, dude! Although I do not own vintage Rolex, that first 1655 mark II looked great.

Yo. Any tips for finding vintage grand seikos in Nakano?
I didn't see any while I was in Nakano

the 16520 on the left @4:48 has a "Patrizzi dial" hence the premium

It was about $70k in CAD!

Great video and you have good taste. The Tudor Prince I would have snapped up in a heartbeat, looks like a Daytona for one quarter the price.

That "cream" dial ExpII was way overpriced. The 16550s were "famed" for their discoloured dials resembling more of a cream colour over time.

Why are the prices so high? Do they not care about cash flow? Are they too prideful to take a loss?
That's what holding the bags looks like. They'll hold out as long as they can, and then it will be a fire sale. 😂
