Mad respect to the elevator operator who collects Rolex and Omega. I would guess that he sacrifices more than, say, a professional, so he must have more passion.
@TheJapaneseFactory Thank you. That is interesting. I have no understanding of elevator maintenance. I am a physician in the US, where we are considered among the best paid professions. Still, I respect his interest and taste. My own collection is a little different. I prefer vintage Rolex, but I also own several Grand Seiko timepieces. I own a lot of Seiko Presage (e.g., Craftsmanship series) and limited editions (e.g., SJE087J1 KSK reissue) or obscure Seiko timepieces as well. I like German brands but mostly own Mühle Glashutte, Sinn, and Hanhart. I am also collecting assorted microbrands (Farer, Trafford, Nivada Grenchen, Smiths, Pitzmann, Knot, Wise, Zelos, Selten...). Most recently, I have been excited about the Citizen Chronomaster with its High Accuracy Quartz, eco-drive, and perpetual calendar. As I write this, my second Chronomaster is shipping from Japan.
Thanks for the great content. Been following many horology-based channels and this s the only one with this concept among the ones i’ve seen. It would be lovely to see the image of the watch the people talk about while the interview going on. And one video request: it would be great to see a tokyo watch-shopping guide video… I ll be there in a few months and don’t know where to start.. Greetings from Istanbul👋🏼

Not a smart watch fan myself either. Funny how as collectors we always espouse and romanticize the history, stories, and technological wonders of mechanical timepieces and the brand itself, but yet fail and or forget to see the same arcs applies to smart watches in the realm of electronic engineering. For me I love the visual tactility of a mechanical watch vs imagining electrical electrons zipping around in a smartwatch
There are very few wearables that qualify as “men’s jewelry” - can’t think of anything else - so hopefully that excuse can justify an impulse watch purchase.
I agree - I had a smart watch for a while but I got annoyed charging it every other day and I realised tracking my steps and sleep wasn't that valuable... I do mostly daily wear a Casio DW-h5600 now that had a HR/sleep sensor but it only runs those while I'm working out. And it looks awesome. Best of both worlds 😂
@@TheJapaneseFactory I’ve owned an Apple Watch but it was like paying to own something that creates a lot more work and distraction - blasting my wrist with notifications all day long. I had to get that thing rehomed to another electron feeder.
I totaly agree with the guy about Nakano prices being more expensive than in Europe. If you are looking for a deal, it's not the place to go if you are an european. Great video as always. What camera do you guys use by the way to shoot the watch close-up?
I think if you consider tax free (10%) and tourist discount (5% only some places), the exchange rate difference, but mainly the quality, you can get some reasonable prices. A lot of Japanese pieces are S rank or A rank e.g. near unworn or lightly used, so yes they are priced higher than EU stock but you are getting a watch almost unused. If you compared it to similar unused stock in Europe you'd find it's cheaper. We use a Sony ev-1, same camera for the interview and the wristroll/closeup.
