They have more affordable models as well, such as Seiko, Tag Heuer, etc. Definitely worthwhile to visit there. Although I find that TAG watches are way overpriced in Japan.
Some Rolex super clones are so good that they fool even the experts. Given this, I would be hesitant to buy from any watch shop unless you are lucky enough to get one from your local AD. You would have to open up the watch to look inside and I doubt the shop does that.
I have seen them doing that but of course can't say exactly for what reason. I would trust to buy pre-owned watches in Japan but not anywhere else. If the AD was the only source I'd trust I guess that means bye bye Rolex etc. The last time I was able to buy one from an AD was the Explorer 1 from Wempe in Dortmund, Germany back in 2018.
You find quite a few of them especially at some of the smaller shops. Many customers don’t want the boxes because they take the watches home overseas and don’t want the boxes to attract attention at customs.
The policy is probably not really relevant to corrupt AD's who are willing to violate the rules and sell to flippers in the first place while withholding stock from the market.
I guess it depends on what they buy these watches for. They couldn’t care less however about the weak Yen, most customers are domestic. And foreigm buyers can get a tax refund even on second hand watches which is not possible in Europe (new, original merchandise only).
Konichuwah friends n family, I’m looking for my 1st Rolex watch, either a Submariner, date, gmt for a budget of < $4000. Preferably with box and papers. I am from California, USA. I have to budget for flights and accommodation. I was wondering how long should I book my holiday for? 1 week or 2 weeks. Apart from Nakano, which other areas in Japan should I visit to find a Rolex.
You won’t be able to get a Rolex (any) for that budget. You could get a Tudor or Grand Seiko, maybe an Omega for that price. One week Tokyo is enough, Shinjuku and Nakano have the best selection pre-owned items.
@@gorokhovda most stores don’t allow filming. For one, Japan has rather strict filming rules to begin with due to privacy laws but also because they want to avoid that brand new flipped watches show up on the internet (they also cover all the serial numbers).
Well, “scam” in a sense that the emtire pricing is off the charts without any apparent reason. But let’s be honest… isn’t Rolex entire business and distribution model a scam these days?
THANKS FOR THE WONDERFUL VIDEO
Dexter Gordon GO at the beginning, classic Dex!!!
Keep doing that bro
Appreciate the video, is it all high end watches or is there stores there for those of us into vintage seikos and lower end watches?

I am based in Tokyo and know of a couple stores that specialise in vintage Seiko - happy to source one for you, what are you after?
@@darrincurtis3349 hey id like to know where you can find vintage seikos in japan (tokyo, osaka, or kyoto)
I LIKE

Hi. Was it easy to find empty rolex boxes there?
You find quite a few of them especially at some of the smaller shops. Many customers don’t want the boxes because they take the watches home overseas and don’t want the boxes to attract attention at customs.
If i go to Japan i would look for Rare Japanese watches , Seiko , Orient , Citizen and co. not Rolex ....
Why not Rolex? They have a lot of rare Swiss watches in Tokyo, even more than in Europe or the US.
@@kayflip2233 I understand your point of view , but i personally would look for Japanese watches .
Definitely great value on Grand Seiko there and special editions too!
Do it then. Nobody is forcing you to buy Rolex 😂
Isn't it they have policy to remove stickers from watch once you made purchase ? I am talking about Sea Dweller DeeSea Watch.
The policy is probably not really relevant to corrupt AD's who are willing to violate the rules and sell to flippers in the first place while withholding stock from the market.
Which store to go to if buying a rolex sub? Thanks
I would go to all of them to see what’s available and compare prices Time Zone had fair prices but they always shift a bit.
Which stores do you recommend for a speedmaster?
Jackroad & Beatty had a HUGE selection of Speedy’s!
@@aeroAdvocate woah, their selection is huge. Thank you!
Prices reflects USD prices.
This is unfortunate that even with the weak Yen they are jacking the prices up to mitigate.... They are hurting their sales and volumes massively.

More like Tokyo Luxury window shopping

Grand Seiko for the win. lol.
Did you find any yellow gold day date ?
There are quite a few but prices were too high, not a good deal compared to other models. I think I'd prefer an AP RO for a gold piece instead.
why you can't go inside?

There are more watches in reseller stores that are on peoples wrists
Absolutely. A shame really. :(
Just casually ignoring the Daytona Paul Newman right in front of you. Haha.
Honestly speaking I have not the slightest clue about specific models. I could maybe tell you it's a Daytona but that's where it ends. :D

Take credit card transaction? thx.
Yes, all of these stores accept credit cards. Some might apply a surcharge.
Good to get reward points. Thanks!

Why don’t you mention anything about Rolex pricing in $$….?
Because the currency in Japan is Yen. But if you want to know pricing for any specific model I can have a look, I’m going here once a month.
@@aeroAdvocatecan you have a look at gmt master and submariner pls
