Bought the G2 a year ago and even though it is heavier, ENG style is so much more efficient. I was filming all day commercial shoots with a Sony A7sii and was frustrated that the camera would overheat. Switching over to the Ursa G2 just made filming fun again. Just depends how you want to film. ND filters like you mentioned in the video is one of my favorites features. That and shutter angle.
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I somehow forgot the password. I love any tricks you can offer me
@Max Mario thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
For those of you dreading the storage, the URSA G2 also comes with a USB-C port that you record directly onto USB-C drives. A significantly cheaper option, more storage than the Angel C-Fast card, and you can do 3:1 or Q0 up to 60fps without it shutting out. You get probably 20 seconds of 120 fps at 1:3 before it cuts out tho fyi
So does the BMPCC 6K. The problem with both is the lack of any strain relief at the USB port. Really dumb, and a great way not only to lose (or not get) your recording when the connector gets bumped or wire gets snagged, but also ruin the port itself.
I would definitely take take the 6k because I already have most of the gear I would need to rig it up and it’s just way easier to work with it in my opinion
Good rundown. The one glaring omission is a low-light comparison; that's a huge issue in this budget range. The built-in NDs are indeed a big win; but with one 77mm set of NDs and cheap step-down rings for your smaller lenses, it's not too bad a setup.
I bought the Zacuto cage based on your review and found it completely covered the rubber caps over the in/outs. I had to jimmy the camera into the cage with the caps open and leave them open once in. Not paying for inconvenience. Returned it, bought the Tilta, similar issue. Returned that, bought the SmallRig, no problems. You must have experienced same issue with BMPCC 6k and Zacuto cage?
Love this video because I'm doing my "youtube research" on the 6k and UMP and have no idea about kitting them out. With you mentioning the accessories and their prices I get a good idea on what to get and costs.
Hello. I'm a bit confused. You mentioned 6k Pro not having in-body stabilization and no buil-in ND, but I read that it has "built-in clear/2/4/6-stop ND filters" and has Gyro that you can use with DaVinci
the pocket 6k pro gyro will not stabilize footage in camera. it will write the metadata to the BRAW file, which you will then use the "gyro stabilizer" in resolve. It looks AMAZING and oddly it will remove most if not all rolling shutter. unlike the other stabilizers in resolve, it will not cause weird artifacts. however if you film with low shutter speeds it will record motion blue on a shake.. when you stabilize you will see the motion blur artifacts when you stabilize. I suggest shooting higher shutter rates to avoid this, and then use a motion blur filter. the best is in fusion with the optical flow and then vector motion blur.
Nope, they are cinema cameras, intended to be used with a follow focus and ideally even a focus puller. If you want AF, have a look at the Sonys or maybe a Fujifilm cam ;)
Hey, I really like what y'all do and I have faithfully followed for a long time. I saw Philip Bloom's Facebook post about your unauthorized use of his image. I'd sure like to see you address this publicly please.
Hey David, thanks for bringing this to my attention. I produced this video as a freelancer, and I'm not sure what image you are referring to. If you let me know which one it is, I can send my editor an email. Oh and one other thing - who is Philip Bloom?
@@BooneLovesVideo Thanks for getting back to me. Sorry to be confusing. My comment is not about the thumbnail for this video, An image of Phillip Bloom himself, owned by him, was used several years ago by Premiumbeat and recently re-used in some Facebook promotional materials, which is how he became aware it had been used. From what he stated in his post, his effort to have PB acknowledge the use have gone unanswered. I took it upon myself to comment about it here because I would like PB to address the matter.
I have been wondering how's the quality with these internal NDs. BM is known to cheap out with low pass and ir cut. A kit of 4x5.65" "cine" ND filters can easily cost some 400 to 600 euros. Indeed there were complaints about the filters in 6k pro not being so neutral.
Dude, you really need to do a dynamic range test between these two cameras. Don't just take the manufacture's DR claim at face value. If you put both cameras at iso 800 (this is key), you'll be surprised at the results
The numbers are not correct yes, but the G2 has definitely more dynamic range. If the G2 realistically had 13 usable stops of DR, the BMPCC 6k would have 11 or 11.5 usable stops of DR.
Yeah, this video is more focused on the rigs as run and gun setups. Still need to improve my skills before I can talk about the dynamic range topic with any depth.
Hey man, not to be rude, but your main footage of this video looks a bit green, and generally the color grading is quite lack-luster. Improving this would definitely help you establish more credibility than you already have. Besides that, thanks for the video
Yeah Christopher, I'm definitely new to the world of color grading, and I have a lot to learn. Super awesome of you to point this out to the community with timecode stamps, though.
I know Netflix has the g2 on its list of cameras but I love my pocket 4K for RUclips. In my opinion Most schmucks don't even have a 4K monitor so why bother dealing with an output beyond 1440p if most people won't even see it with the naked eye that extra dynamic range or w/e on their viewing setup? Love both cameras I have the Ursa mini too, but have not tried the g2

Well, that's the well-known weakness of the a7S II, but the BMPCC4K and 6K simply don't overheat.

I personally use the SSD recorder on mine and go direct to Samsung EVO 860 drives. It's miles ahead of any of the other options.
@@SoundOfYourDestiny I’ve been rocking the external SSD’s for about 18months and never had an issue of the cable coming out 👍🏻
@@JoshBenBernales That's good. I'd still put a cage around it or fabricate some kind of metal protection for it though.

More side by side comparisons pleeeeease :))
For sure! Hopefully I 'll have some new tuts coming out soon regarding these cameras.
Boone Loves Video looking forward to it! :)
The Canon 17-55m 2.8 IS is a good lens for handheld/ shoulder rig filming.
Great content!
Yup! I use the cheaper 16-35mm F4 IS L, the range is perfect for what I do.

Thank you my bruz, first video on my research between Ursa and BPCC and now look forward to getting the Ursa. Cheers man!
I'm curious how the new Black magic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro changes the verdict?
Cool, but why include some branded media kits and not include external NDs in bmpcc6k build?
they both cost now half or less of what it was 3 years ago crazy
You already make an 11 minute video, But you can't put a 1 minutes Footage to Compare Both of them. 😤👎.
What a Review 👏.
hahaha, you are just amateur.

my 6k is a beast! killing the ursa at raw q5, i sold the ursa wayyy to heavy
Weight is actually a factor when you are a one man band. I would go for the 6K as well, unless you have a crew around when shooting with the G2.
A dated review. The BMP 6kPRO, now closes the gap.
