Scott was so accurate on the new PlayStation and Xbox consoles that I have great hope for the Switch 2.0 being what he describes.

Temperate changing controllers is SUCH a Nintendo idea, I can see it happening, maybe not for Switch 2.0 but at some point in the future
@@nintyfanr it's a cool idea (heh), but in terms of making it a reality temperature changing controllers are out of the picture. You could definitely have controllers that warm up quickly/quietly/efficiently, but there isn't much use for a heated controller. And for cooling off, well that would be a nightmare to make. The only method of cooling off that would be remotely feasible would be to use fans inside the controller that blow on the players hands, which would be noisy and largely ineffective. Plus it would open up the inside of the controller to dirt and grime.

I'm honestly surprised at how much of his Nintendo lineup predictions fits with Nintendo's upcoming releases. We have a new Pikmin, a Pokemon DLC, a new Warioware, and while we aren't getting a remaster of Paper Mario we're getting one of Super Mario RPG.

For the switch 2.0, the scrolling shoulder buttons should also have a "lock" button so they don't scroll unintentionally at a time it would be annoying for them to do so.

Temperature change in the controllers could be achieved easily with the addition of several small Peltier modules in the key skin contact areas. But! the " ice cold" feeling could only be sustained for 3-6 second intervals, and will probably require the addition of aluminum heat sinks if it is a function to be used frequently. (in a battle you may give or get many "ice attacks" right in a row)
Without serious extra cost and battery the "cooling" effect would only be able to be VERY momentary. no more then a couple seconds. without proper cooling, the modules will just get hot.
To have sustained cold grips (even with professional quality peltier modules) would still require tripling the battery pack. as well as a need for a very small and powerful, and quiet, cooling fan and heat sinks and air ducting and all that extra cost and head aches. Not that it matters since these are fictitious consoles....... or are they? :)
Current Gen controllers could possibly be retro-fitted with a "paint on" hot/cold surface by electro-plating a metal like copper or nickel on to the plastic and then use an "ink" or "paint" comprised of a metal oxide, a carrier, and a binder. but this would be undoubtedly very inefficient. and will probably work fine as a heated grip, but not so great as a "cold-troller" hahaha
I'm also pretty sure a lot of people would start to panic if their controller suddenly started to heat up. Chances are that not everyone is going to know about it and would likely yeet the controller in response, just in case it caught fire. Especially Samsung N7 owners!

And North American RUclipsr, why does having a temperature changing controller automatically mean having it enormous and heavy? Nintendo could very well create an efficient enough system for cooling the hot side of the peltier unit, have it smaller, and have a larger battery without increasing bulk, in maybe a few years.
Dude, I don't even like changing batteries in a Wii remote (I take them out while not in use, hopefully increasing their lifespan), more shit consuming power isn't necessary. Recharging stuff constantly also sucks.

I was with you until you started talking about heated/cooled joycons. That would require peltier generators and im not even sure how that would work. Nintendo consoles are supposed to be on the cheaper side of the consoles. That right there in todays market hell even 4 years from now would be insanely expensive.
It would be pretty cool to have self cooling controllers though. Imagine never dealing with sweaty smash bros palms again.

The Xbox had some wacky third party controllers that had fans in them for that reason.
Unfortunately with third party controllers that do special things, they are almost always inferior in every other way, so that gimmick better be worth it.

you know... this could totally work as no doubt if it did happen we would revisit Wuhu Island, a familiar place to many. along with sports they could also put in the ability to visit the Wii Fit Studio and maybe do yoga if both joy-cons have motion controls.
another idea to add to the Wii Fit idea is pack in leg and arm straps with their own motion controls for even more controlled movements. What do you think?

The input delay is due to the distance from you to the server, as well as the quality, stability and capacity of the connection, and the number of other servers you have to pass through. The complexity of the game does not affect input lag, so it doesn't matter if it's an NES or a PS5 game, as long as the hardware can play it in full, the input lag is everything mentioned above, times 2. Remember that your input has to travel to the server, to execute the command, and then as the game is now executing your command, you'll have to wait for the picture to travel all the way back to you.

Smash JT it would be a cool new thing, but only if you could turn it off because sometimes it could be distracting or annoying.
I like the idea too - I'm just stuck on the logistics of it. I'm sure heating up the controller wouldn't be that complicated; just need to be sure it's mild or else some poor sap will claim it burned his lap or his house or something. Cooling would probably be more complicated... I'm no tech wizard but I can't even imagine how that would be accomplished in a feasible way. But I love this outside the box thinking! I would've never thought of temperature controlled controllers.
See me... I like the idea of merging the Siri/Alexa functionality with the system, but I'd work it into the controller instead of the console. That might lend better for interactive games that utilize the function.

The Switch 2.0 concept is the best Switch 2 concept I've seen so far.
I find it so fascinating that many of the switch OLED upgrades were what Scott wanted from a full next-gen switch, such as the better screen, 64 gigabyte minimum, and better built dock. Now of course the current switch gen will never be 4k, but I have high hopes that Nintendo is actually listening to some feedback from the original switch and will make their next system one of their best ever.
IDK if the Switch 2.0 will work... Look at the Wii U, people got confused on what it really was. I feel like a switch 2.0 might suffer a similar fate.
That's only if they do the marketing wrong, if they play it out smart and straight to the information the message will be sent across correctly.
