This was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for coming through! I'm finally to see with a real time example how much darker the black is with OLED. Very cool!
So I take it that if I´m using an IPS monitor in a well lit room plus having the brightness of the screen set to low, there should be no problem with the glow?
I think IPS in SDR vs OLED in HDR would be a much more fair comparison, since 99% of people who have this monitor would use it in SDR, since HDR without adequate amount of local dimming zones looks like trash.
Fair point. But in the other side you want to compare apples with apples. But I see it as a good idea do to another video on SDR mode with both monitors.
IPS panel it has the same black level of VA panelwith few adjustments look at this IPS without local dimming m.ruclips.net/video/mWKtd2mrod8/видео.htmlA
Hey I've seen a few reports of the oled.having banding issues, have you personally experienced or seen them? They seem to occur in very dark shades when the white pixel is used, so for example greyscale shades or desaturated colours. It crushes to black.
How can I tolerate IPS monitor for so long? IPS looks so bad it’s made me mad that even CRT monitor like Sony FW900 looks better than any LCD monitor. I got an OLED monitor not too long ago I will not go back to LCD ever again
... and people are moaning about the risk of burn in... I´m moaning since years for the nightmarish black-levels of everything since plasma. 27 inch OLED is at my pc. 65 inch OLED in the living room. And 49 inch (hopefully) at BF for my sim rig.
VA technology is a very good solution. I don't know why the youtube chanel say the IPS is good for gaming and multimedia... (I'm a professional designer and I working with the best monitors on the market) The only reason to choose an IPS panel is for the color but when we need to WORK (not just for retouch a photo of vacancy lol but really WORK) and for me, for a gaming room, the VA panel win totaly. The contrast of the IPS panel is horrible, the black are horrible, the IPS Glow is horrible... IPS => if you need WORK VA => for gaming that's enough OLED => I'm not sure to use this technology due to the problems it may entail over the long term. (burn screen) yes it's beautiful but very expensive. And the micro LED will soon solve this problem. Buy an VA for 400 / 500 dollars and wait 2 or 3 years ;)
@@erocneypsit3531 no its totally not, i was woried cause i just received it, now after 2 weeks of testing it im really happy, i rediscover most of my games, the 1080p> 2560x1440 transition is awesome cause you see details way much more but on this screen its a pleasure cause the Colors are gorgeus. @@erocneypsit3531 In reality it certainly doesnt look as bad as in this video because a) the camera exaggerates the IPS glow in this video and b) you usually wouldnt be setting the brightness this high so your black levels will look better than in the video
the brightness of the GP850 is much too high... I have it set to around 21 and then have much better black levels than in this video. I think the screens should have the right settings before you make such a video. because this way every screen looks better next to the GP850....

@MaJung- cool story
This is the best advertisement I've seen for OLED!
Haha you are so right
This is why i CANNOT play horror games on freaking LCD displays. :D
Exacto
exactly. i was trying to play the last of us on an lcd tv. i just couldn't do it. I quickly went back to oled
You have the brightness all the way up on the ips..lower it and it won’t look as bad bud
, it comes out like that on camera for some reason, record your ips screen and youll see
And how does it look with normal non HDR content?
OLED is way better visuals especially in a dark room.
I finally got an LG C1 and IPS/LCD Is horrendous to me now.
The only downside to getting a good monitor/tv
So I take it that if I´m using an IPS monitor in a well lit room plus having the brightness of the screen set to low, there should be no problem with the glow?
imagine watching this comparison without a oled display
could you please provide the current lux level at your room

Demo like this, IPS will always look like trash. Even if brightness is set to 100nits in SDR.
With IPS I do recommend sticking to SDR and 80-120cd/m2.
Once you try OLED for media and games there is no way back to LCD even with 1000s of dimming zones.

And you turned max brightness on LCD...even on my old lcd i can see lcd isnt good dark levels as oled in this test.
El de la derecha es el LCD?? pues entonces se ve mejor el LCD 😊
Impressive how far flatscreen tech has (finally) come. I was worrying it would always be a downgrade from the CRT 😅
IPS wasn’t impressive at all but OLED sure does. I can’t afford Sony FW900 so OLED Monitor is same as those CRT Monitor
VA is not so bad
how is the text clarity. Can you also make video for that?
Text clarity is better on the LCD. if I find a method to show this properly I’ll create another video.
just wondering if they are in extended mode because its baffling why the IPS is faster to display new pictures
Monitors are in extended modus. Not in mirror :)
@@JohnFreeda ah i see, thanks

even CRT? they were way better than any modern monitor right now. At least my fkn huuuge Philips monitor which I cannot take out alone.
@ Yes I would get the FW900 if the price wasn’t the problem just OLED and even QD-OLED was a better deal
Bro, in case of AMOLED, comparing to OLED, AMOLED have a better quality on dark scenes?
Great, thanks

OMG IPS looks so horrible, for now OLED still expensive maybe i will get VA with good treatment.

How you like oled, brightness enough?
More than enough for me. But I definitely advise you to have the possibility to maken your room dark. OLED is superieur in dark/low lit environments.
its bullying to to compare gp850 to gr95qe haha
The difference is literally night and day.
OLED all the way

Of course you can tweak it. But for optimal HDR results you want the highest brightness as possible. Only that way you can compare the monitors.
If that's the 2023 model of 27GP850 then.... yikes! What is up with the IPS glow lol...
@akaChriss4L it looks worse on camera than it actually is
So what about VA, is that even more worse
Not sure :), what do you think?
Its better than IPS
Jesus that LCD screen is horrible.
