They are very nice guns, to be sure! I bought my Ruger SR-1911 last year and could not be happier with it. For the price they can't be beat, and I love that Ruger made them like a series 70.
I own it, the same exact gun. It is a wonderful piece of a 1911! After a few FTEs in the very beginning (maybe my fault of not seating the recoil spring fully back on the rod during assembly), this Ruger SR1911 Commander has been flawless through boxes and boxes of rounds. I've shot over 1000 by now, all of which 230 grain ball ammo (that's the only ammo I've access to here). Carry it in Condition 1, cocked and locked. It is the most secure pistol with it's two safeties, very easy to produce and engage, reliable and deadly accurate. You can't beat the .45 ACP in stopping power too, as far as practical semi-autos count. Ruger surely makes hell of a gun with their 1911s (and all of their other designs, by the way).
I have a SR-1911 but its the full sized standard model looks just like yours just a little longer. I absolutely Love this gun. Exceptionally accurate, fun to to shoot, works flawlessly no jams on me, and pretty decent build quality even when compared to my kimber. I trust my life with the SR-1911
Excellent! My wife and I have a Springfield RO 1911 in 9mm, but she wanted a .45 1911, and we bought the Ruger. Ours was problem free as well, and I even use it as my carry gun sometimes. Even with its 5" barrel, it's not too bad. Great shooting!
Another triumph of a video. Love the new angles and stuff. I have a Ruger 1911 CMD too. 450 + rounds thru it without a problem. Ruger really hit a home run with this handgun.
I have the same pistol. I have hundreds of rounds through it without a hiccup. I shoot it better than any of my other pistols. It's an understatement to say I like it.
Thanks Alex....I know there is a lot of competition out there on youtube but I'm slowing increasing my subscribers and viewers and I appreciate anybody that watches my videos.
When i bought my SP101 earlier this year, the gun shop had one of these as well. Fell in love with the looks and knew i wanted one. Now i know for sure to make it my next purchase..
I bought mine the 5" barrel in 45 when they first came out.. I love it.. in fact it is my "EDC" pistol with 4 xtra mags. Saddle bag keep the Ruger 44mag Hunter... Man that is some awesome country. Those rock formations are surreal.. Always enjoy your vids..
OK I just bought one based on this video.I have been wanting a 1911 for some time now and you helped me decide which one. Great review. Ruger owes you! : )
Last week I purchased two Ruger SR 1911’s both the Commander size, one is the all steel .45 ACP and the other is the Light Weight Commander .45 ACP and I couldn’t be happier. I went out to buy the full size SR 1911 but no one had it and one shop had these two and so they came home with me. So far I’ve watched your video twice, good shoot’n my friend .
You have two Ruger 1911's??? I'm jealous. My Ruger stainless .45 is one of my most favorite firearms and maybe I'll do another video on it this summer. Thanks for the great comment and I appreciate you watching my video.
Because of you I had to pick one of these up . I walked into the gun store and there was a used one for sale . Excellent condition . I love the gun . Thank you
Love this 1911. Mine is the full-size version and it is a joy to shoot. I was looking at the Smith and Wesson Performance Center 1911 but the classic clean lines of the Ruger appealed to me. Great video.
Great video as always. I think everybody should be required to own a lever action rifle, a single action revolver and a 1911. Nothing like a collection of classic steel.
I really like that combination that Ruger has for a carry option. Commander length, stainless and what appear to be Novak sights, and only having the safety lever on the left side. Even though the safety could be easily swapped out, it's nice that it's that way right out of the box.
I got mine but it is the 5" barrel as I like the longer sight radius and the additional weight at the muzzle end. It is a GREAT shooter and should be in any 1911 lovers collection. Great video, thanks for the time & effort you put into all your videos!
I own a Para GI Expert 1911 in 45acp, a Desert Eagle 1911 in 45acp, and a Dan Wesson 1911 Commander Classic Bobtail also in 45acp - so, last week I found a Ruger SR1911 in 9mm and bought it on the spot - this gun is without doubt the softest recoiling 9mm pistol I have ever fired and it is spot on accurate as well. Glad I bought it! Great vid BTW...always fun watching your vids. Thumbs up
Just purchased this very gun. Love the 1911 style handgun over any other. After watching a few videos and handling the gun at the range was sold. A great shooter. Found it interesting that after I purchased this gun I happened upon Hickock reviewing the gun. Found out it was one of the guns that after testing it, he purchased it.
Love your videos. I too love my 5” SR1911. As with mine, no malfunctions to date. And I’ve had it for over four years. First shots through it were in Idaho when we visited. Put boxes of inexpensive aluminum case Blazer and it are them all. Buddy I was with was a weapons specialist in Iraq and he was so impressed with it he wanted to sell his Kimber and get one. Now Ruger came out with a 3.6” Officer .45 model and I’m definitely getting that one. Keep your videos coming!
I absolutely love my Ruger SR1911 and it is one of my favorite pistols. Maybe I need to make an updated video on this great pistol just to give me another excuse to go out and shoot it again.
Yes sir. I’d love to see some more videos! I’m interested in what you think of the 3.6” SR Officer all steel model if you see one. I held one at Sportsman’s Warehouse and I thought it would be a great carry .45 option. My only carry options now are the SP101 3” .357 and LCRx 38+p.
I have to agree, everyone needs to shoot an all steel 1911. My CZs feel great but they don't feel any better than a 1911 and the 1911 trigger dominates a hinged trigger. The heft of the all steel frame & slide make recoil a non-issue, even with 10mm. Amazing shooting as usual sir!
I got one of these for Christmas from my dad and I could not be happier. He has a Kimber and while they are both quality guns I prefer the Ruger but it may be me being biased lol.
First Class Marksmanship, fantastic Firearms, tons of fun and the World's most beautiful Shooting Ranges. mixup, how you don't have 5 million subs baffles me!
Good review on the Ruger Commander. I have the Lightweight Commander 45ACP, absolutely love it. It is very accurate and works well with the aluminum casings and hollow points. By far my favorite pistol to shoot.
Just an update on my Ruger decision. I had commented WAY below that I wanted this pistol, and I bought the Ruger Lightweight Commander .45 a couple of months ago. I carry it mostly in a shoulder holster, and it's a great shooting gun! My wife enjoys shooting it, and it's just dead accurate. We've only had on bobble in 500-600 rounds: a Hornady American Gunner round failed to feed, but the slide managed to push the bullet into the case pretty far(???). That was the only problem, and we've shot plenty of the same ammo through the gun without any further issues.
Good stuff. I have the 9mm lightweight commander and am glad I bought it. Had to send it back after fighting through 400 rds. with a lot of failure to return to battery. Ruger replaced the ejector and it runs great now.
Awright, Mix. You finally done it. After watching this vid no less than 3 times, I ordered my SR1911...though I went for the Target edition. I do have an SR1911CMD in 9 and it is a seriously enjoyable gun.
cmonsterz.....you need to bring both of those pistols to my house so we can make a fun video with them. You might want to wait until April though because it's about 34 degrees outside right now.
Amen to that! It was a cozy 16 degrees here yesterday morning. On one hand I like Winter...and the other hand, I simply don't. That 1911 Target arrived. Ruger appears to be making some nice 1911's...and are providing a whole lot of gun for the money!
Hey Alberto. Well, I've been enjoying mine for a while now. It is a nice gun...especially for what I'd call a very moderate price. Mine is really accurate and the slide to frame fit is quite good. Trigger is one of the better ones that I've found on a stock 1911. I liked it so much that I just bought the Talo edition SR1911!
I got this in 9mm and I absolutely love it! Love the video by the way, I just recently found your channel and you have great content! I'm new to guns so it's awesome to see an experienced shooter having fun and doing it the right way and not to mention the beautiful landscape. Greatest Country on Earth.
Ruger got it right on all counts with the SR1911 series. I absolutely love the CMD model, for looks, heft, and accuracy. It does the job it was made to do and does it flawlessly. Cheers.
Wow I'm surprised I hadn't watched this one before now. I had a good chuckle when you said you would see how the aluminium case ammo would work, because I knew for a fact it would. I've had an SR1911 CMD for a couple of years now and have not had any gun related malfunctions, just a worn magazine caused me a problem. Love your vids.
Another awesome video & review mixup. The Ruger SR1911 is one of my favorite guns to shoot in my collection and upon first shooting it I was very impressed w/ it's stock trigger! Keep making the great videos my friend, you are truly one of the greats here on RUclips & in our gun community !
Thanks Neil, I really do appreciate the great compliment. I enjoy making my videos and I'm glad I have the support of you and my many followers and I'll keep making my videos as long as you guys keep watching them. Thanks again and your comment just made my day.
I have the Government model with the 5" barrel, it's my carry gun. Nothing short of a laser beam regarding accuracy and has been 100 percent reliable (bought mine about 2 months after they first came out). I have been eyeing the lightweight commander model though, Ruger hit a grand slam with that pistol.
I love 1911's I own a Kimber custom Royal 5 inch, and a colt officers model ! I like that Ruger you bought! I own Rugers revolvers and rifle ! Well made 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Huh. I didn't know Ruger made a Commander model 1911. I always see the Government models in my local gun shops, but never the Commander. Neat. Next time I buy a 1911, it's either going to be this, or the Springfield Range Officer.
I have owned two 1911's in .45 and one Sig P220 in .45 and I love the round, but I got a new 1911 in 10mm and like the power of the 10mm a lot. I plan on getting a Ruger 1911 to convert to .460 Rowland. I like high powered calibers.
Just got mine. I got the 5 inch barrel. It's my first 1911 and I'm planning on buying another one so I can have a matching pair with custom grips. I'll never carry them but they're gonna be my fun guns at the range
@@mixup98 I'm glad I went ahead and made the purchase. There's a gun store not too far from my house and I stop in from time to time. My brother in law got a smith n Wesson 1911 from there. My sister got it for him for Christmas and I took her there because we just looked at them n I knew what he wanted. Same day I put this one in lay a way. When I picked it up yesterday I told them if another used one comes in like it to call me n I'll come buy it. It is an awesome gun. I'm faithful to my glock as a daily carry but I'll never have enough guns. Cowboy boots and guns are the only things I collect.
I appreciate the video, I’m Waiting on my background check to be cleared from its delay. They’re holding one for me over the counter. It’s going to be my first over thecounter purchase.
I do love a 1911. Of course here in California they have banned most semi-auto handguns and Ruger gave up on the California marketplace. Two years ago I saw a beautiful Colt 1911, which was still available at the time so I immediately bought it.
Our state sucks balls, let's face it. I bought 3 Colts last year and am glad I did: all Colts fell off the CA roster except for the blue Commander. I actually rushed to get a stainless one just a few days before it was no longer legal in January. CA SUCKS. 1911s are all awesome, but after a while I started to like cleaner guns and ended up with Colt. I think it's a natural progression... no longer possible in Commiefornia.
Nice shooting... I've really enjoyed my Ruger SR 1911 five inch. I have not been disappointed either! Nothing like popping steel, cans, water bottles, Pop bottles or even a jack rabbit. I have put around 2,500 rounds through mine and only had one stove pipe and one failure to eject. I also bought a defective mag for it and through it away but that wasn't the pistols fault. I have some great mags for it including a couple ten rounders... I enjoy shooting those big heavy rounds through it... I shot some HST 230 grain LEO ammo through it and shot some boned meat, water melons, some one gallon jugs of water and filled one gallon milk jug with Pepsi Cola and shook it up...Woo hoo!... lots of fun and the bullets I recovered off the sand bank expanded extremely well... the Federal HST 230 grain is my carry round of choice for it... I don't mind CCW at all with the steel beast. It is thin enough to be comfortable. Have fun with yours!... I know you will! Take care!
Excellent video....I got one when they first came out ( never a problem) than decided I was going to downsize calibers and go with 9mm and dump 45 so I traded it as part payment for a Sig P226MK25......I like the Sig but really miss that SR1911
8:39+10 Seconds ago I noticed one of my preferred gunshops posted these on their webpage. Getting one tomorrow morning :-) Thanks for yet another amazing video sir!
I certainly appreciate the sub and the great compliment. I am truly a lucky man to live in Nevada, home of the free. Thanks again for the sub and I hope you enjoy my videos.
I love your channel every time I drive through or spend the night in Ely I think of you on my way to our Place and Sun Valley Idaho hopefully one day I will meet you at the sporting good store that I’ve been in many times which is actually fantastic keep up the great work I love all you do
Hello Curtis. Unfortunately I moved away from Ely several years ago and I now live in southern Nevada. I rarely get up north anymore but who knows, you might still run into me at Sports World in Ely someday. Thank you for the great comment and I especially thank you for watching my videos.
I’ve always wanted a 1911, thanks for the demonstration, such gorgeous country out there. I appreciate your input on that beautiful weapon! Hopefully I’ll pick one up soon👍🏻
I do not understand why this man doesn't have 1 million subs or more. Top notch gun channel!
I swear this channel is a little hidden gem in the gun community
Amen
I was just thinking that 3 years later should have way more subscribers
This video helped me decide on buying my first 1911. The Ruger SR 1911 in stainless steel is my favorite firearm. Best gun channel ever.
You have a fine firearm and it should last you a lifetime. Thanks for the great compliment and be safe, have fun and enjoy our 2nd Amendment.
They are very nice guns, to be sure! I bought my Ruger SR-1911 last year and could not be happier with it. For the price they can't be beat, and I love that Ruger made them like a series 70.
I like this dude's energy. Like a kid in a candy shop.
Thanks Jeffrey.....you made me smile :>)
No problem. I'm glad I found some actual entertainment

Ruger 1911, Colt 1911 and Tisas 1911, that's all you need for a 1911, good luck choosing from these 3
My shooting buddy has a Ruger 1911. It's well built and reliable. Good video as always!
Probably one of the most underrated RUclips gun channel... love your videos!
Thanks Alex....I know there is a lot of competition out there on youtube but I'm slowing increasing my subscribers and viewers and I appreciate anybody that watches my videos.
You're one of my fav.
When i bought my SP101 earlier this year, the gun shop had one of these as well. Fell in love with the looks and knew i wanted one. Now i know for sure to make it my next purchase..

You are very welcome Nicholas and congratulations on your 'new' Ruger. Glad I could help. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year!
Thanks for taking a look at this awesome 1911. I've made up my mind and I'm gonna be picking up the 5" target model soon.
Well, that's it... I'm getting a 1911 for sure now. Nice shooting mixup98.
Love this 1911. Mine is the full-size version and it is a joy to shoot. I was looking at the Smith and Wesson Performance Center 1911 but the classic clean lines of the Ruger appealed to me. Great video.
Freedom5 get the S@W .45 performance, you won’t regret it! Accurate right out box, no “break in “ needed. Had mine six months, love it.
I'm running out of compliments so I'll just put it this way: what a joy to watch in every way! Where is the second 'like' button?!
just picked up one yesterday for a steal, not sure why but it was built in 2014 and looked almost new. Great gun for the money, I got lucky!!!
being a 1911 head and a ruger head i can't say there's anything here in this video that i don't love! hit liked!
Thanks Martina....
Great video as always. I think everybody should be required to own a lever action rifle, a single action revolver and a 1911. Nothing like a collection of classic steel.
...ditto Mike :>)
I really like that combination that Ruger has for a carry option. Commander length, stainless and what appear to be Novak sights, and only having the safety lever on the left side. Even though the safety could be easily swapped out, it's nice that it's that way right out of the box.
I just re-visited this video. The Ruger CMD is one of my favorite 1911 pistols and this is one of my favorite channels. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Just for the Star Trek beaming in with the 1911, subscribed!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Star Trek and a good old 1911.....life is good in America. Thanks for the great comment and I really appreciate the sub....and Merry Christmas !!!

out of all my 1911s I've ever owned and shot these Rugers are the most reliable in the 1911 platform gonna go get one again soon
Just picked up my SR-1911 Commander and are you ever right about it. I am sure it will find it's place among my favored pistols as well.
GREAT video! Quality, sound and content was awesome! More of this please! It really showcases the 1911 and your ability to shoot it well! Thank you!
Thanks for the review and I am putting this 1911 on my wish list !
I'm also baffled but hopefully someday......
Subscribed after the 1st video...darn good shooting mixup and really like the Ruger!
Good review on the Ruger Commander. I have the Lightweight Commander 45ACP, absolutely love it. It is very accurate and works well with the aluminum casings and hollow points. By far my favorite pistol to shoot.
Full size comes with 1-7 round and 1-8 round mag. I love it !
You make it look too EASY! Great shooting and sweet gun from a fellow 1911 guy.
Thanks PHISHY......by the way, I love your name.
Just an update on my Ruger decision. I had commented WAY below that I wanted this pistol, and I bought the Ruger Lightweight Commander .45 a couple of months ago. These are good looking guns. I just found a used light weight commander in 9mm. I couldn't resist.
I always thought creamed corn had no purpose in the universe. You proved me wrong.
I got this in 9mm and I absolutely love it! Love the video by the way, I just recently found your channel and you have great content! You can bring the same amount of enjoyment in 10 minutes, that some people need 30 to do!
Better scenery than anyone else, too.
Yeah, classic old western setting. I was waiting for some bandits to pop out from behind those rocks!
Thank you for the informative video! This is going to be my first 1911 ACP
best gun videos on youtube you deserve more subscribers!
Thanks my friend !!!!
This was a really awesome video quiet outdoor shooting plain and simple. 👍
Ruger never disappoints! Neither do your videos! Thanks again.
You are very welcome Gabe.

Always enjoy you videos...Thanks
I have the Government model with the 5" barrel, it's my carry gun. Nothing short of a laser beam regarding accuracy and has been 100 percent reliable (bought mine about 2 months after they first came out). I have been eyeing the lightweight commander model though, Ruger hit a grand slam with that pistol.
Just got a full size ! This thing is a tack driver at 3o yards ! Great vid👍
Fantastic video, beautiful landscape. I've never been disappointed by Ruger!
Good shootin' as always mix...you make it look easy.
Awesome vid!
It's so fun to watch you shoot.
And I want one of those Rugers!!!!!
I love 1911's I own a Kimber custom Royal 5 inch, and a colt officers model ! I like that Ruger you bought! I own Rugers revolvers and rifle ! Well made 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Good shooting!
I picked up one of the full sized SR-1911's earlier this year. My first 1911 and it is a fantastic gun for the price.
Good shooting! That's my wife's dream gun. Even more than the Springfield she had before.
Btw I like the variety of targets you use in your videos. Keeps it authentic.
Just got mine. I got the 5 inch barrel. It's my first 1911 and I'm planning on buying another one so I can have a matching pair with custom grips. I'll never carry them but they're gonna be my fun guns at the range
A matching pair of SR1911 pistols....life is good my friend and I'm jealous.
Cowboy boots and guns are the only things I collect.
thank you for your replay Mr mixup98 best wishes to you and to your family
Loved it. Looked like the first 6 shots on the target you were trying to come up with a new Emoji lol
Mmmhh, 1911 .45acp
The firearm-equivalent to a wine of the century. 😉👍🏻
My heart goes boom boorum boom boom lol love it great shooting
Take care!
Dude your aim is impeccable!! I need to practice more lol
Excellent video....I got one when they first came out ( never a problem) than decided I was going to downsize calibers and go with 9mm and dump 45 so I traded it as part payment for a Sig P226MK25......I like the Sig but really miss that SR1911
You sir, are a hell of a shot! Beautiful gun and scenery!
Thanks my friend. I appreciate the great compliment and the nice comment.
You really are a good marksman ! I know you have fun with the tin cans & 2-liters, but your aim on regular targets is very good, even one-handed.
This guy just makes it look so easy
Love mine! Super accurate and reliable!
I like this video, quickly informative. Then some footage of a dude having a blast shooting his new gun. And the dew at the end is some funny stuff.
Such a nice handgun. I love it.Thanks for the video.
Hello KaiButtner. You are very welcome and thank you for watching my video.
There is just something about a 1911 I just love. I'm a small frame person and I prefer .45 A.C.P. over 9 mm.
8:39+10 Seconds ago I noticed one of my preferred gunshops posted these on their webpage. Getting one tomorrow morning :-) Thanks for yet another amazing video sir!
Beautiful 1911 Mixup! I have a Tisas Zig 1911 in stainless and it shoots great....But I've always wanted the Ruger.
My local gun dealer occasionally gets a Tisas 1911 in stock and I'm going to buy one someday and do a review on it.
@@mixup98 Buy one! you will not be disappointed !
Just subscribed after watching two vids. You sir are one hell of a shot. Love the area you are in, Always bueatiful scenery.
I certainly appreciate the sub and the great compliment. I am truly a lucky man to live in Nevada, home of the free. Thanks again for the sub and I hope you enjoy my videos.
Nice shooting as always, I enjoy all your videos.
Another good video from your end of the world
I love your channel every time I drive through or spend the night in Ely I think of you on my way to our Place and Sun Valley Idaho hopefully one day I will meet you at the sporting good store that I’ve been in many times which is actually fantastic keep up the great work I love all you do
Hello Curtis. Unfortunately I moved away from Ely several years ago and I now live in southern Nevada. I rarely get up north anymore but who knows, you might still run into me at Sports World in Ely someday. Thank you for the great comment and I especially thank you for watching my videos.
Nice Ruger pistol video! God I wish I had a backyard like that !!!
I have the same gun. It is an excellent 1911 that I will never wear out. I really want to find one of the 9mm versions as well.
I don't know if I'd shoot it or just stare at it. It's gorgeous.
I’ve always wanted a 1911, thanks for the demonstration, such gorgeous country out there. I appreciate your input on that beautiful weapon! Hopefully I’ll pick one up soon👍🏻
