I can totally respect a man who can shoot fast and accurately with one hand, while taking a selfie video of himself and the swinging targets. Incredible!
Nothing like watching a man shooting a man's gun. Say what you will about polymer-framed wonder nines, there's a reason why the 1911 is still around, still made of steel, and still enjoyed by lawmen and citizens alike. The SR1911CMD is as fine a pistol out of the box as I've seen or fired in many years, a thing of beauty that delivers the mail every time. Thanks for taking yours out for a spin once more and for inviting us along via RUclips. Stay safe out there.
I'm a Ruger fanboy from way back in the early 70's, My next buy will be their 1911 in 10mm, you can bet your life on a ruger, they always go bang, blue collar guns for the working man, yeah not the most expensive, but ALOT of bang for the buck. Thx for the vid.
I bought an SR1911 when it first came out about 6-7yrs ago I have the 5" barrel the gun is really nice I have well over 1k rnds through it, I highly reccomend it. Thanks for the vid great job.
Bought a Ruger SR1911 over a year ago. A favorite along with my .44 Super Blackhawk. Great shooter. Easy to clean once you get the hang of it. Put an adjustable Novak rear sight on it. Handloads 230 grain over 6 grain Unique, with CCI large pistol primer.
I've had this pistol for about 8 months and it's definitely my favorite to shoot. My 13yr old son shot it recently at the range and he had a great time with it.
I just got a Ruger Lightweight Commander in .45 and ran it through the range today. Un believable accuracy and response. It is now my new "go to" pistol. Fantastic firearm! Get one if you can find one! You will be forever happy! Be careful, it draws a crowd due to it's great looks and finish!
I bought my self the same for my retirement as a Deputy, absolutely love the feel, aims naturally and my home defense weapon. Looks great also. Hoping it stays in family for 100s of years !
There are 9 large dealers near me and NONE of them had a Springfield or Sig 1911. But 6 of the 9 had Commanders. After buying one and actually shooting it, I can’t figure out for the life of me why they aren’t sold out. What an incredibly awesome pistol. So much smoother than either the Sig or the Springfield…
All gun lovers know the 1911 is war tested and proven to be effective but I have yet to hear from anyone how great the 9mm was for the Armed Forces since it's inception. Thanks for sharing your love of a great 1911.
Finally got off my cheap butt and bought a new smart phone. Haven’t been on RUclips for quite a while, and here you are with my next pistol! I’m seriously going to buy one in the next month and I’m glad to see that you like it so much. Thank you
I JUST picked one up a few days ago. Classic design, surprisingly accurate for a 4.25” 45 Auto. Became my second favorite pistol in my collection next to my Sig 226 Legion… But it immediately became my carry for all occasions over my Sig 239 .40… In the city or in the woods, this pistol is damn near perfect…
Don't you love when that happens? I once bought a new Browning Buckmark .22 pistol that had the wrong price on the sticker and I saved about a hundred bucks.
I have to chuckle a little bit when you say 80° is hot. lol i’m in Dallas and we had almost 2 months of 105 to 108. Now that’s hot! Great pistol by the way.
The ruger 1911 is one of my favorites also. Very accurate for a fraction of the price of some of the other brands out there. After some guys I work with saw how good mine was they all got one.
Over the years, however, Ruger has truly stepped-up their game. The products they make are top-shelf and would make Bill proud. I think Ruger products could run with any brands. Good combo....AZ guy, AZ product. Correct?
I have the lightweight version, and mirror polished the slide. It’s a great pistol, but the addition of a Wilson Combat sear and disconnector made a very nice trigger GREAT. Stoning the hammer didn’t hurt either. I’ve wanted to get the full stainless ever since seeing your video a couple of years ago, but I have so many 1911’s. Thanks for Sharing! 👍👍👍👍👍👍
My first pistol was a Ruger Standard and I have been a fan of Bill's products ever since. This just may be the 1911 I've been waiting for. Thanks for a great review!
I've owned a handgun of different Standard pistols over the years and my son and I both currently have one. You certainly won't be disappointed in their 1911.
I've had my eye on the 10mm version of this pistol. It's just built like a tank, and sure is beautiful. Well, until you 'sudddenly materialize' again sir, thank you!!
I got one in the first couple years it came out because it was a Ruger. There were a few reviews out and people liked them and I've always liked Ruger...and 1911's... I wasn't disappointed. Maybe just 300 rounds so far but a mix of handloads and factory stuff including several hollow-points and no hick-ups yet. I need to do a weekend in the desert and shoot the heck out of it...and my other 1911's (don't want any jealousy between them). A good value and I've been very pleased.
I've put a lot of rounds through mine and I've never had a problem either. I expect my Ruger to last many, many decades. Stay safe, shoot straight and thanks for watching my video.
I bought my first Ruger 1911 recently, one of these full size lightweight 5" models they released a couple three weeks ago. You can find them for between $599 and $650 where I've seen them. Essentially the same build out as the cmd lightweight but @5". I have a few Colt's and a couple Filipino 1911's already. I'm going to tell you I was a might bit surprised when I took this new Ruger out and put 120 rounds of ball through it using 6 different mags, 2 of which were Colt, the 2 Ruger mags, a Metalform and a Kimber tac-pro mag and they all fed in the gun at max capacity +1 in the chamber and all locked open except for that Kimber mag. Granted, it was 120 rounds of ball but I was at least expecting a few hiccups in those first rounds through the gun. Nope, it was perfect. I'll be the first to admit I'm shocked.
I had the same experience with my Ruger SR1911. It doesn't matter the magazine or the ammo, it just keeps on shooting. I have owned a handful of 1911 pistols over the years and this Ruger is probably the most reliable right out of the box.
@J Yep. Also, considering it's not a match grade barrel, it's considerably more accurate than I would have otherwise assumed too. I have handled sloppy Ruger 1911 examples in years past. One was frighteningly sloppy. I was very surprised they let that particular example out the door at Ruger. But this one's barrel lug to hood fitment was excellent. When downward pressure was applied to the too of the barrel with a thumb through the ejection port, zero downward play could be made to happen. Solid there. And the barrel bushing fit was right also, no wishy washy slop when I attempted to force movement. Very good. Slide to frame fit was a bit tighter than the last Colt Competition I got but then the reality is that that's no great feat. Yep, this purchase (so far) was worth $650.
My favourite pistol.. the 1911 .45.. my 1911 is a Colt 1911A1 marked ( RS ).. made in 1941.. a friend was talking to me about how hard it is to get .45 ammo here and im better off getting a norinco 1911 in 9mm.. i said “ a 1911 not in .45 is not a 1911” ..case closed
Yeah I absolutely love my Ruger SR1911c. Looks good, shoots great. Great trigger right out of th box. I didn't even have to break it in like my more expensive kimber. Almost magic gun for me, just point and I hit what it's pointed at no problem every time. *:-)*
Great video. I lucked out and picked one up yesterday. Took it to the range today and yes I agree it’s a great gun. I ran a couple of different mags through it and it liked the ones it came with and a Wilson Combat mag. Thanks for making this video.

Good choice James. I love my SR1911 and I'm sure you will too....Happy New Year!
Beautiful pistol.....I don't care how old the design is 1911s are awesome!!!
Buy this as my first gun since it reminds me of OG call of duty zombies and its just an amazing gun. I dont think i will ever have to buy a gun again unless i get into marksmanship
I have one as well. A beautiful pistol that just works.
Yes indeed and mine if one of my favorite pistols.
The best vídeo!
Thank you my friend.
My friend, if you can make a video with 1911, R.I.A, TCM 22 or 357 Magnum Chiappa (Rhino), it would be great, big hug!
I own three 1911s. My SR1911 was the least expensive of the group, and also my favorite. Can't say exactly why, but it's true.
I know the feeling. I also have a Colt Government Competition model but I always grab the Ruger when I go shooting.
un superbe 1911 tres bien fait et precis merci
A very nice review!
I did enjoy watching you shoot that 1911. I'm looking at picking up a Ruger American in .45 ACP in a few months. Keep Shooting and maybe pick up a nice Resistol or Stetson Straw hat for the warmer weather. I sure like my George Strait Signature Straw Hat.
I just purchased that exact same pistol today It's currently on layaway used like new can't wait! I also have a full size Rock Island 1911 that I love.
Congratulations on your purchase Andrew...I'm sure you will love shooting your Ruger 1911. I'm hoping to pick up a Rock Island 1911 in the near future and do a review on it as I have heard a lot of good reports on it.
Beautiful piece, nice shooten and I really enjoy your channel ...!!
Fun video, enjoyed it very much. Ya, for a good while now I've decised this will be my next side arm purchase.
I love my Ruger and I hope you do get one, Buckley.
