Another tip for if you want to pick up resources faster is to go into the general settings and turn of the animation for picking up resources. Safes sooo much time and just picks up resources like sticks and berries much faster. Especially when trying to do so in combat.

I am 12 hours in, and it feels like i just began. The increased diversity of ranged weapons is insane, the melee combat is SOOOOO much better. The difficulty has been cranked up a bit. the new machines are, absolutely amazing. And my god the cutscenes have been polished very well. Anyone who went past "embassy" (dont wanna spoil) knows what i mean. Job frikking well done Guerilla games.

Something I found fun and subtle is sometimes people actually comment on what you do in town, like jumping onto machines, climbing on things and having your weapon out, or even interacting with the environment. In rare cases, Aloy actually RESPONDS to some things. Made me laugh out loud when I pulled open a pull-caster surface that was inside a shop's area and the merchant was like "Do you do that EVERYWHERE you go?" and then Aloy responded: "Sorry..."
To be fair that was linked to the gather black boxes side quest. Still surprised indeed that the merchant responded because it’s way too often just accepted that you rampage a town for your own game in RPG’s
No cap in James rap dog or soul’s for that matter this game is ridiculous on ps5. And this truly is how a sequel is done I was not that satisfied with the first game but after playing just a few missions in this, I am astounded.
You can also go into settings and turn on what’s called Thalassophobia Relief, which allows you to breathe underwater indefinitely regardless of story progression. Also improves underwater ambient visibility. You’re welcome.

It's just that hearing that fast travel was better made me think that he didn't play the first one much. @@jtfromsomewhere in order to fast travel, you have to activate a campfire first. So, every time you see a fire on your map, be sure to walk up to it and hit Save (🔼). Then, on the map you can hover over a campfire then you can hit R2 to fast travel. To travel for FREE, you must already be at a fire, then hit ⏺️ to bring up the map and choose a campfire
After playing Ratchet & Clank for so long, I'm actually glad to see the quick weapon swap feature in this game! Can't wait to start playing it tomorrow!

Another protip: If you are tired of spamming the focus to find items to pick up, turn on "Interactive Markers" in the settings. And if you also swap focus mode inputs, then it's exactly like the first game.
This was one of the first things that I did. Coming off from ZD into Forbidden West, I had a lot of changes to go through, but was relieved I could at least change it so that the focus resembled the previous game.
Honestly, i never had a gripe with the fast travel pack concept from the first game. I think personally it added just a liiiitle bit more immersion to the game, and sometimes made you forego fast traveling. I often found that those moments where i WAS dissuaded from fast traveling a shorter distance, i ended up coming across a unique encounter , getting lost trying to hunt for an upgrade i wanted, or discover a random quest that was somewhat in the direction of where i wanted to go. I thought it was a clever choice to encourage players not to fast travel as much, makes you appreciate the game world a little more.
I always had like 20 -25 just from looting supply crates early in the HZD. Then, about 20 hours in, I decided to get the golden pack and sell all my other ones for shards
My biggest gripe was not getting the mount sooner. Doing a spear strike from horseback never gets old. Then, having the ability to Call (a New) Mount, meant you didn't have to heal them. While using the Mount to melee was never really accurate, it was really good to knock down an enemy after you got detected
If you're tired of smashing R3 every five seconds to scan for item pickups, there is a setting in the UI called "HUD Visibility". If you go into Custom settings and change "Interaction Markers" to "Always On" you will never have to press R3 again unless you're specifically scanning/tagging robots and camps.
Motion aiming general tip: use analog sticks to get the targeting reticle to the general area of what you want to shoot, then slight motions of the controller to fine tune your shot.
Absolutely agree, if you can get used to it, it's great for "fine tuning" your aim that can be hard on analog sticks without lowering the sens a lot. I love the addition of motion aiming
This is why I always immediately scroll through the settings before starting any game. There are usually so many handy settings built for assessiblity. One I will always change if allowed is changing QTE's to hold rather than tap. As one that lays down when playing this helps tremendously.
I spent about 30 minutes in settings and testing before I picked the first medicinal plant. Mostly to remove as much HUD elements as possible and to compare performance and fidelity mode. Now I am really enjoying the game and I don't wanna watch any videos. Came here just to comment :)
@Dubspore The good news is you are not locked out of one mode by choosing the other. In general, performance mode should be your default. But if you come across an awesome looking location, and believe me, there are many in this game, you can get rid of potential dangers and turn on quality mode to see them in their full glory.

There are very few AAA developers in this industry that can be trusted to pre-order. That on release the game will not only be truly ready, but a damn fine game. Guerilla setting the standard with this shoe-in for GOTY contender.
this game is killer! builds on the mechanics and feel of zero dawn and still looks amazing on my ps4 pro. glad they didn't rush it like lots of other studios and companies do.

The visuals are really impressive on PS5 so far. Not just due to graphical horsepower but art style, everything is so bright and vibrant. I swore Demons Souls remake was the best graphics I've ever seen but this is close. I can't wait to see what next generation games look like in a few years.
I love Horizon and I am enjoying it now, it is just beautiful. But I am just quietly waiting for GoW Ragnarok. I believe it's gonna be a bigger banger in all aspects than Horizon and Eleden Ring all together

Horizon Zero Dawn will always be My Favorite Game of all time.Had dreams about it for the longest time and was soo happy when I found out they were making a game just like I dreamt of.
It's always difficult to go back but you do if you love the game. Give it 2 or 4 yrs and start again you forget so much that it almost feels new again.
My gripe about climbing is that she'll pause and stand on a ledge I just climbed for longer than I'd like. It's a clear flat plain in front, but it's like it's still looking for a path upward when I'm ordering pressing forward. It happens too often for my taste. It doesn't detract from the overall experience, and it's minor, but makes it feel a little less polished
The climbing is the most annoying thing in this game. You can want her to go straight up and she’s just all over the place. Sometimes she won’t move when there’s clearly a climb point near as well. It’s so annoying when you are trying to get a bloom and she wants to go every way but the way you want lol.
@@JeanGray218 for sure! There are some climbing spots where she stands, that lock her from jumping off, only to other available climbing spots. So you have to walk off the edge to jump and glide down. It's awkward. I did beat the game and mostly enjoyed it. The glitches did start to feel a little annoying by the end
In the original game there's the rare travel pack that you can buy in the merchant, making it travel pack free, so you don't need to buy travel packs just to fast travel in the first game. I am glad the sequel improves on this.
travel packs cost basically nothing to create, and you can make 50 in less than 10 seconds if you somehow run out. astounding how many complaints there are over a mechanic that basically costs nothing and moves you across the map in 1 loading screen
Underwater rebreather is awesome! You have access to areas prior to getting it but you drown trying to get there. Lol- it’s not easy to get it requires lots of quests being done!
I play PC games in general although I have a PS5 for titles like this. The Gyro aiming is about as close as it gets to mouse-accuracy on a console. I'm delighted with the option.
Triple notch is incredibly useful, which makes me sad that Double notch for Sharpshot bows is nearly useless except against large machines (and that's if you don't care what part of the machine you're hitting). Your arrows don't go anywhere near where you're aiming.
It's interesting how few people knew of this! It was actually the exact same way in zero dawn haha! I always love it, when you can stash your weapons manually!
Braced Shot is the best weapon skill in the game, and it can one-shot almost everything less powerful than a ravager even on very hard mode with a green bow. Which is to say it does insane damage. Triple shot is ok but the only reason to go for it first in my opinion is the concentration skills leading up to it. It's good in niche situations but Braced Shot is good in every situation.
Idk if the game let's you know at some point (I'm just passed the embassy mission) but you can actually wall jump. You might miss this entirely by skipping a certain side quest. If you jump on a flat wall, then press O, aloy will perform a backwards wall jump.
when she return before meeting the carja king. before he knew silens up to something after climbing up the tower. they already teach you that. but i know it gets you overwhelm because there's so much button combo you can do and it might be forgotten.

Couldn't wait to play but we were hit by a severe windstorm today here in Ireland. I already had to put up with a lengthy power outage that lasted most of the day on Wednesday because of another windstorm and it happened again today. Needless to say it's been a rather crappy week. Anyway it's over now and I look forward to finally play this wonderful game.
That sucks. Same thing happens in my area all the time. Had to get a few universal power supplies for all my more precious devices. If It's raining or windy there's like a 40% chance of the power going out. Power went out in the snow storm last month and we went 4 days without heat, that sucked. Hope you enjoy Forbidden West. Oh damn. Hundreds of hours in and #1 I didn't know at all. Well played. Another major thing the game doesn't tell you (or tell you well): there's a +4 limit on all skill boosts. So if you boosted stealth ranged in your skill tree +2, and are wearing armor with a stealth ranged +2 boost, adding a stealth ranged +2 weave does nothing. Use that weave slot for something else.

In addition to the weapon quickswap you can select the weapon you want to quickswap to using the square button. Hold L1 and select the weapon/ammo combo you want and hit square. Quickswap will always swap back to that weapon.
This is one of the prettiest open world i've ever seen. They nailed the world building and atmosphere in this game. My only issue at the moment is the performance mode, I personally feel it's to blurry and you do see some graphical issues from time to time so I hope they address this in the future.
I agree, I really wanted the 60 frames but I ultimately decided to stick with resolution mode because it’s such a noticeable difference in graphics IMO, I wish games would have a slider instead of a “resolution or performance” switch; I wanna try 40 frames 1440 or something
Weird, I had to buy an extra pillow when I played HZD because I kept dozing off and waking up to my Playstation powered down. Game was a grade A snoozefest.
Haha I didn't have that problem I kept pressing circle instead and vaulted myself of the ledges by accident lol. I feel that cancel or drop from ledges is usually the circle button so took me a while to get used to.

I would recommend playing zero dawn first, you'll at the very least want to find a good recap on youtube as forbidden west calls back to the first game a lot.
I love gyro aiming in Nintendo games. It works well if you're holding the entire system like with the switch or 3DS but I feel like it's a bit less intuitive if you're looking at a big screen and move the controller.
A sony executive saw that nintendo had it so then they needed to have it, but how it's supposed to work was just an afterthought for the nerds to figure out and mash in later 🤷
Not a fan of Aloy having to re-learn the same skills she already had by the end of the first game. Makes zero sense. Especially because this game takes place shortly after the last one. I guess she got hit on the head and got amnesia.
Tge machines are straight up smarter in this game. They'll circle you and the one your not looking at will attack while your watching another. I dare say the AI is so much better the difficulty has raised some but in a good way.
It’s a decent game. I wasn’t a huge fan of the first one, so I wasn’t expecting to be blown away or anything like that. I’m more excited about Elder Rings more than anything. 😅
Decent ? It's one of the best console games you can find. Besides Returnal the best on PS5. Sure this game can't be for you but this is an sequel that overcome its predecessor with glance and add more to it. For console games this ain't not easy.
On the Gyro aiming, it's probably turned off by default because like you said it's not for everyone. But mentioning the option SOMEWHERE would mean players who do play that way can, and those who don't can just stick to what is already there.
As a person who bought the ps5 thinking I'd be getting both, I totally understand this frustration. It looks so good on the fidelity mode that I'm not switching to the 60fps and just training my eyes to get used to it lol
The 4k mode is still really smooth tho... I barely even noticed its under 60 fps. A game like Dying light 2 has HORRIBLE 30 fps mode, like it's literally unplayable in 30 fps. In Horizon, they just nailed it.

The nocking 3 arrows only works on the hunter bow. It doesn't work on the warrior or sharpshot bow in this game.

Well fast travel wasn't annoying at all in HZD, you could get the golden fast travel pack super early and never worry about it. It was better.
If the only issue with this game you felt was worth mentioning was fast travel, than I think they’ve got themselves a good game they’ve created.

This game is so so good. The graphics, story, combat is so polished. I wish I had picked it up earlier. 15/10. Looking forward to Forbidden West.

You can't do that in Splatoon. They lock the right stick y-axis for what ever stupid fucking reason.

@@woody_you_want i think horizon fw had a way bigger budget after the success of the original and was in development for many years that's why it looks so good now therefore Ghost 2 should be godlike both in terms of visuals and overall improvements as a sequel if suckerpunch take their time and really focus on it.

this game is killer! builds on the mechanics and feel of zero dawn and still looks amazing on my ps4 pro. glad they didn't rush it like lots of other studios and companies do.
Love the videos, Falcon! Another setting change I found useful was turning off the animation for item pick up. Saves a TON of time.

The demon souls remake was pretty spectacular, but I'm a Souls veteran. So I'm a little biased. That being said, both look absolutely gorgeous.

The visuals are really impressive on PS5 so far. Not just due to graphical horsepower but art style, everything is so bright and vibrant. I swore Demons Souls remake was the best graphics I've ever seen but this is close. I can't wait to see what next generation games look like in a few years.

Automatic pick will mean that you can't manage which things to pick up. Unlike tlou2, you have to be selective in HFW.

They've improved the game so much based on feedback that it'll probably be very difficult to go back to Zero Dawn after playing this 😅

It's always difficult to go back but you do if you love the game. Give it 2 or 4 yrs and start again you forget so much that it almost feels new again.

My gripe about climbing is that she'll pause and stand on a ledge I just climbed for longer than I'd like. It's a clear flat plain in front, but it's like it's still looking for a path upward when I'm ordering pressing forward. It happens too often for my taste. It doesn't detract from the overall experience, and it's minor, but makes it feel a little less polished

The climbing is the most annoying thing in this game. You can want her to go straight up and she’s just all over the place. Sometimes she won’t move when there’s clearly a climb point near as well. It’s so annoying when you are trying to get a bloom and she wants to go every way but the way you want lol.
@@JeanGray218 for sure! There are some climbing spots where she stands, that lock her from jumping off, only to other available climbing spots. So you have to walk off the edge to jump and glide down. It's awkward.
I did beat the game and mostly enjoyed it. The glitches did start to feel a little annoying by the end
Climbing in Uncharted was way smoother.

In the original game there's the rare travel pack that you can buy in the merchant, making it travel pack free, so you don't need to buy travel packs just to fast travel in the first game. I am glad the sequel improves on this.

travel packs cost basically nothing to create, and you can make 50 in less than 10 seconds if you somehow run out. astounding how many complaints there are over a mechanic that basically costs nothing and moves you across the map in 1 loading screen

Underwater rebreather is awesome! You have access to areas prior to getting it but you drown trying to get there. Lol- it’s not easy to get it requires lots of quests being done!
They certainly changed a lot of the settings in this to make it a little bit more user friendly to everybody's different playstyle.
I like the hold L1 option as it goes through slow mo and gives me time to think on what type of machine im fighting and other stuff

The Gyro aiming is about as close as it gets to mouse-accuracy on a console. I'm delighted with the option.

Triple notch is incredibly useful, which makes me sad that Double notch for Sharpshot bows is nearly useless except against large machines (and that's if you don't care what part of the machine you're hitting). Your arrows don't go anywhere near where you're aiming.
It's mostly for applying effects that put a certain enemy in a weakened state. I default to explosives whenever they evade tripwires 😅

Braced Shot is the best weapon skill in the game, and it can one-shot almost everything less powerful than a ravager even on very hard mode with a green bow. Which is to say it does insane damage. Triple shot is ok but the only reason to go for it first in my opinion is the concentration skills leading up to it. It's good in niche situations but Braced Shot is good in every situation.

Idk if the game let's you know at some point (I'm just passed the embassy mission) but you can actually wall jump. You might miss this entirely by skipping a certain side quest. If you jump on a flat wall, then press O, aloy will perform a backwards wall jump.
when she return before meeting the carja king. before he knew silens up to something after climbing up the tower. they already teach you that. but i know it gets you overwhelm because there's so much button combo you can do and it might be forgotten.
@@nabihannordin5871 I already knew that during climbing, but you can even wall jump on walls that you can't climb on, just so long as it's flat.
I always look at skill tress at the start and make a plan but these tips are smart as hell anything resources wise is always smart to get early on

Couldn't wait to play but we were hit by a severe windstorm today here in Ireland. I already had to put up with a lengthy power outage that lasted most of the day on Wednesday because of another windstorm and it happened again today. Needless to say it's been a rather crappy week.

That sucks. Same thing happens in my area all the time. Had to get a few universal power supplies for all my more precious devices. If It's raining or windy there's like a 40% chance of the power going out. Power went out in the snow storm last month and we went 4 days without heat, that sucked.

Another major thing the game doesn't tell you (or tell you well): there's a +4 limit on all skill boosts. So if you boosted stealth ranged in your skill tree +2, and are wearing armor with a stealth ranged +2 boost, adding a stealth ranged +2 weave does nothing. Use that weave slot for something else.

I'd only recommend it for PS4 PRO or PS5 to be honest.
The original PS4 will probably have a really hard time playing this.

In addition to the weapon quickswap you can select the weapon you want to quickswap to using the square button. Hold L1 and select the weapon/ammo combo you want and hit square. Quickswap will always swap back to that weapon.

This is one of the prettiest open world i've ever seen. They nailed the world building and atmosphere in this game. My only issue at the moment is the performance mode, I personally feel it's to blurry and you do see some graphical issues from time to time so I hope they address this in the future.

I agree, I really wanted the 60 frames but I ultimately decided to stick with resolution mode because it’s such a noticeable difference in graphics IMO, I wish games would have a slider instead of a “resolution or performance” switch; I wanna try 40 frames 1440 or something

Weird, I had to buy an extra pillow when I played HZD because I kept dozing off and waking up to my Playstation powered down. Game was a grade A snoozefest.
For Motion Aiming, coming from the switch made it feel like home, I'm honestly surprised how good it is for minute adjustments. 👍👍

Haha I didn't have that problem I kept pressing circle instead and vaulted myself of the ledges by accident lol. I feel that cancel or drop from ledges is usually the circle button so took me a while to get used to.

I would recommend playing zero dawn first, you'll at the very least want to find a good recap on youtube as forbidden west calls back to the first game a lot.

I love gyro aiming in Nintendo games. It works well if you're holding the entire system like with the switch or 3DS but I feel like it's a bit less intuitive if you're looking at a big screen and move the controller.

Not a fan of Aloy having to re-learn the same skills she already had by the end of the first game. Makes zero sense. Especially because this game takes place shortly after the last one. I guess she got hit on the head and got amnesia.
Auto shield wing is pretty handy as well. And a question I have for anybody who has done it, is “Co pilot” a multiplayer feature?

Tge machines are straight up smarter in this game. They'll circle you and the one your not looking at will attack while your watching another. I dare say the AI is so much better the difficulty has raised some but in a good way.
I remember some of the cauldrons being a nightmare to do at anything beyond normal difficulty with the previous AI.
The humans are too. They'll sometimes form small search parties to look for you

It’s a decent game. I wasn’t a huge fan of the first one, so I wasn’t expecting to be blown away or anything like that. I’m more excited about Elder Rings more than anything. 😅
Decent ? It's one of the best console games you can find. Besides Returnal the best on PS5. Sure this game can't be for you but this is an sequel that overcome its predecessor with glance and add more to it. For console games this ain't not easy.

On the Gyro aiming, it's probably turned off by default because like you said it's not for everyone. But mentioning the option SOMEWHERE would mean players who do play that way can, and those who don't can just stick to what is already there.

As a person who bought the ps5 thinking I'd be getting both, I totally understand this frustration. It looks so good on the fidelity mode that I'm not switching to the 60fps and just training my eyes to get used to it lol
The 4k mode is still really smooth tho... I barely even noticed its under 60 fps.
A game like Dying light 2 has HORRIBLE 30 fps mode, like it's literally unplayable in 30 fps.
In Horizon, they just nailed it.
