Taking every element about the original game and making it better, which is pretty much what any video game sequel should strive for. I’m definitely looking forward to Horizon: Forbidden West.
I really enjoyed the first game. The story was great and the combat made me have to pause and think about how a kill would go down. It would usually devolve into me screaming and being chased by like 10 machines, but that's just because I get greedy. The one thing that I do hope is improved in this game is the climbing. I know they showed some new things involved with that, but I really hope it's better and less awkward than in the first game!
That’s what I love about Horizon. It’s the only game I’ve played that makes me access an enemy thoroughly before engaging in a fight. Other games have tried to do the same but haven’t hit the spot and I find myself just jumping right into the fight in those games. Horizon is the only game I’ve played that has nailed that aspect.
What I love about horizon is the story and the mysterious but rich lore of the world and the gameplay is so much fun, there's a lot variety when it comes to weapons and machines, almost everything in horizon is connected, guerrilla putted a lot details in the game and they even teased multiple times about the red blight and the forbidden west, I highly suggest you watch the complete history of horizon by random side quest!
It’s one of my favorite stories in any video game, and in sci-fi in general. The clues you can find and the order they’re presented to you in let you kinda figure out what’s going on by yourself, but with enough held back so that the major plot points still have a lot of impact. And all the little bits of random info you pick up may actually matter, since they’re the only hints we’re given as to the true origin of the signal that initiated Gaia’s breakdown. I’m hoping a lot of that comes into play in this new story, because I’m really liking some of the theories that are out there.
Zero dawn was a masterpiece. One of my fav all time games. Exploring the world/lore is def the highlight. I really hope they put enough twists in the second story to keep us engaged, as most of the world/lore questions has now been answered.
Meeeh... If you talking about all that crap that you listen gathering "audio" and scanning stuff was not it chief some people really need to read some books to understand how bad/small are some stories in videogames lore
I'm so impressed with how attentive Guerilla has been towards listening to the community. They really have a badass team of Devs working on this sequel. Zero Dawn ran close to flawlessly for me and I tried many times to push the game to its limits and it rarely faltered.
For me the movement and melee is everything! I love the fluid traversal and melee mechanics. The archery in the first one was already my exact preference. So this just literally my perfect game
The melee was not at all weak in HZD... It was extremely efficient at breaking armor parts off enemies! Basically like the sonic arrow, low health damage but very high armor damage.
Kinda tricky tho. The amount of times I’ve tried to melee attack only for the animation to swing a completely different direction than intended is too many haha
I like games which when you strike an enemy you see the damage through parts falling down or tearing apart. Not just slashing until the health bar drops.
Absolutely loved HZD, One of the very very few games I've actually got the platinum, Not a trophy hunter but really wanted that platinum, Even went back and made sure I got the NG+ and DLC trophies after as well 😂
@@the-weirdist Of course, I still love it man, Just havent played in a while but will be starting a new playthrough tonight and re-doing frozen wilds as well 🙌❤
I love how Guerrilla made a complete good game for the first one. Polish up AI, provide good UI and feedback, build a perfect open world, good combat and traversal controls, write great characters and stories, design a bunch of unique and interesting enemies, make up a cohesive backstory. All these were achieved in Zero Dawn. In other words, the made the base engine perfect so the next games can build on top of them later. That’s how you make a sequel. I’m super excited for Forbidden West and I can’t wait what new things Aloy will learn and how she’ll deal with them.
I always find it interesting how most people think that BoTW was the first game to use a glider. There have been so many open world games that have used that mechanic way before it even came out
Yeah but that's a common thread with anything really. Go read a YA fantasy series about magic and all the reviews on goodreads and the like are comparing it to Harry Potter. Or how every shounen that comes out nowadays is copying naruto. People tend to think that the most popular example of a trope is the original, and nothing can ever look like it or they're being unoriginal. "Oh a bad guy who was secretly on the good side? They stole that from Harry Potter!" "That character is wielding two swords! They're ripping off Kirito from SAO!" It seems like that habit will never die off and people are always going to compare common traits to the most popular example.
That grapple is going to a) add some pretty awesome options to exploration and b) probably lead to some pretty hilarious glitches and some solid speed running skips more than likely.
I’m hyped for this game. The first one is one of my favorite games to date. And Lance Reddick as Sylens was the icing. Shame he didn’t get much screen time
I'd say that Sylens actually is very much present in Zero Dawn, we just don't get a lot of info about his backstory. He founded the eclipse and might be a banuk but that's about it. Though he seems like he will be very much present in HFW which is exciting. Wonder what happened after the post credits scene with him and Hades.
I hope they enrich the characters as well as they have the lore. I think that was a disappointing facet of Zero Dawn. I don’t care if Aloy herself has a love interest, but her comradery with her allies should exhibit development.
This! The most disappointing aspect of Zero Dawn were the characters. Even Aloy, she is too dramatic and serious, kind of boring protagonist tbh. If they improve that, this'll definitely be better than the first one.
The lore was definitely a cool idea but they should drop all the girl boss stuff that stemmed from gamer gate Its clearly not selling games and it pushes all people playing game away even more
@umar b Yeah I don’t know what he was talking about because I didn’t get that from aloy at all. Sure she was pretty serious, and a bit boring in story scenes, she didn’t have the same poor writing choices other characters have due to forced corporate gender change.
@@deadnorth8648 She literally told every one to stop calling her The Anointed. And HZD sold like hot cakes and HFW is probably the most anticipated title on PS5 right now.
i hope that they've changed the mount galloping mechanic, instead of constantly having to press X to go full speed, just use the traditional L3 button toggle.
My concern is the story. I loved the first one, it is on my replay list with the ps5 upgrade but for me it is about story and I an concerned that this element won't be as strong. I am still really looking forward to this game and I hope my concerns are completely unfounded and that they have created a masterpiece
It will be extremely hard for this game to replicate how engaging the first one's story was, mainly because of the mystery and intrigue it had. The only way I see the story being better is if the characters are improved, which was my main complaint of the first one.
@@dread1262 ?? The story was decent not bad, not great like farcry 3. It had its moment and the start felt really good, later it started to fall off and the end didn't feel great when ik i will be betrayed by that echo dude. It was pretty cut and dry about the plot twist, it was as if they didn't want to make it surprising (i had a hunch that zero dawn is a lie to give people hope, ik that the end will have betrayal arc, what i wasn't expecting was Rost dying in the start, i thought we would go on a journey to find him) . I want better side quests and npc interaction, maybe a romance angle or ability to have some rpg element to enjoy the universe without chasing enemies.
Would be nice is they allow the machines to follow you around after you take control of them. Would make some combat more fun rather than in the first game you’d have to get lucky for your machine to come back you up.
Lost my data when my PS4 died in 2020 so had to start back over almost from the beginning. I've had more time to play after finishing Ghost of Tsushima, but still haven't gotten that far so I'll be jumping into Forbidden West immediately after finally beating Zero Dawn. That said, I'm loving how both Guerrilla and Santa Monica have improved traversal for their respective games. Playing Zero Dawn is so painfully slow after having seen it in the gameplay reveal.
@@the-weirdist you can say any AAA title is overrated thats just as a valid opinion as its cold outside. If you are worried about saves you can move them to a USB stick it takes about 4s to plug it in. You have no one to blame for your saves but yourself 🤷♂️

I A great way to implement such mechanic would be to leave it locked until after the main questline is finished so you don’t there would actually be some challenge when fighting the dinos and not have to resort to flying your way out of danger.
The thing i care most about the sequel is its world. Zero dawn world is my second favourite gaming world cause how unique and beautiful it is i hope they make it even better(my first is witcher 3)
I think im the only person who actually loved taking down bandit camps... it was a lot of fun once you figured out all the short cuts and hidden paths around the camps. And also when you had the perks that let you "strike from above" or "strike from below" idk i really liked bandit camps in the first game!
It's hard to believe! how amazing this game could be even if it just lives up to the first one. I'm only mid 30s but can you imagine seeing this when you was like 10 and someone telling you it's would be a reality one day, not long now and it will be
I really like how they've improved the climbing system. It's not something as free or insane like botw's system, but it still lets you realistically scale around objects like Shadow of Mordor's system.
I'm super excited for the new combat. I found myself using the same ammo type for each weapon and actually used a LOT of melee despite it being weak so I'm eager to see how they change things up.
I loved HZD and I'm going nuts waiting for this game! But!!! Seeing as getting a PS5 is next to impossible, I'll have to wait. I love my PS4, but all new games on Sony will be PS5 for me. No point going backwards in my mind and I want to see this game at it's best. Thanks for the video and cheers all.
PS5 is definitely obtainable if you go through the right channels. Either try to get one directly from Sony or follow certain Twitter accounts that announce when PS5 drops are about to happen. Yes, scalpers are still as active as ever, but if you’re persistent you should be able to land an order within a few days to a week.
@@Bp2181991 Good advice. I have to admit, after seeing the scalper prices on Walmart and Amazon, I just stopped looking. I'll deal with Sony. Thanks and cheers.
I'm hyped it's one of only two games I've ever pre-ordered. I for one actually liked most of the side quests in HZD, in my opinion it's a solid game great story, great gameplay overall. I'm looking forward to playing the sequel
I agree with Gameranx. Side quests were *fine*. They weren't bad by any means, and the ones that contributed to the lore were much appreciated, but they were generally mediocre. Perhaps if the npcs you interacted with were more engaging. I'm looking forward to the sequel. The combination of better npc interactions and "better" sidequests should prove an interesting and hopefully rewarding experience. Side note: I don't really need a "reward" to complete sidequests. The adventure alone is usually enough for me to play it. Though it definitely feels a lot better to get some unique item, rather than 50 rusty bolts and a metal wire.
The first game was a solid foundation for the franchise and every aspect seems to be ratcheted up a notch or two in the sequel. It looks to be a hell of a lot of fun, and it'll be interesting to see how the franchise continues to evolve with each entry.
@victor Charles well cod comes out every year so things get repetitive and not much upgrades will happen. This game took its time to develop. It won’t suffer like cod
Normally I don’t get too hyped before games release cause I usually can tell about how good they’ll be in the trailers but this one got me hyped af it looks like so much fun and like it’s horizon zero dawn expanded which is exactly what I was wanting
The story and combat in the first horizon are pretty original, amazing and engaging . Horizon is not a game that you would say "it's similar to..." or "horizon looks like this game "... nope. Something that I'd like to be improved is the way you choose potions and traps... Sometimes I spend like 5 seconds trying to find the correct one, while I'm escaping from a bunch of enemies with 2 points of life
It was very mundane and not very dynamic. Light strike, heavy strike, critical attack and that’s it… I didn’t dwell on it too much, though. It was still solid 💪🏼
Imo the flawed melee combat was a GOOD thing. It emphasized on how your a fucking human, not some avatar of wrath or spider powered abberation, in melee combat these machines can and will anally fuck you. I mean sure on lower difficulties you can get away with melee against bigger creatures but on higher you use it on anything bigger than a scrapper and its nite nite.
Yeah the melee was pretty stale, but it had it's good points. Like after getting some of the later skills, you can pretty much knock down almost any machine. Which helps if they wont get off your ass lol.
Funny thing is, despite the rave reviews and great word of mouth, I avoided Zero Dawn for a long time. My wife picked it up on a recommendation, played through it, said "This is amazing!" and um "Suggested" I give it a go, lol. she regretted that as I could not put it down. A Platinum, DLC, and many hours later I'm clamouring for the sequel. FW looks bloody amazing and I cannot wait to get my hands on it. Also Can't wait to see what a PS5 does with it's world. Why'd they have to release this and ER so close together?
I got into Horizon later than most bit bit quickly fell in love with this series. I am really trying my hardest to not board the hype train & be as fair & unbiased when it's released but damn is it difficult to not be stoked for this to come out If its even half as good as the first, I think we will have few problems
I know this already has a lot of hype and anticipation around it, but it almost feels not enough? Like this stuff looks AMAZING like my gawd! They took an already great game that had 10/10 features across the board and just set them to override and surpassed those great features! I don't know man, maybe I've just not enough in game-talking spheres. I just loved this game. Loved the exploration, the sort of survival aspect, and fighting big hunkin dinosaur machines, and overall just messing around in this incredible world. Can't wait for Forbidden West!
I’m curious how they’ll continue with Aloy. Her story begun and was wrapped up with the first game. As it stands for now Aloy has no more motivation. She found the information she sought. She saved her tribe. I just hope the motivation isn’t weak.
I would go in expecting the motivation factor to be less exciting that the first game.. I mean it's hard to beat. The father / daughter relationship, learning about the 'tribe' and the land. Definitely excited to explore the setting more, and LOVED the combat of the first so I'm super excited to see that evolve... but I am fully ready for the story to be lesser than the first and hope to be proved wrong.
I have no idea how did you miss it, but there is a whole plotline what builds up the theme of future expansions. I don't wanna spoil it for others, so i'll ask this to jug your memory: WHAT made the original swarm go rogue? WHAT attacked and disconnected GAIA?
Her motivation now is to RESTORE Gaia and Apollo. Her motivation is to find all the rogue subordinate functions and bring them back to Gaia.. they are out there doing who knows what.. the biggest thing is to restore Apollo. The tribes deserve that knowledge of the Old Ones. And it would be honoring Saminas last wish.
No. 11 you don't pull your spear out of your magic pocket for melee atacks anymore, but its persistently dispalyed on your back. A detail, but very nice!
I loved the first game but the gameplay is so mediocre but that's because Sony fans take graphics over gameplay so they mainly focus on graphics over anything else
I just picked it up on PC during the winter sale after reading glowing reviews and holy shit it caught me off guard how horrible the combat is. You end up constantly swinging past the enemy since there’s no lock on, the machines move so jarringly and suddenly that hitting crit spots can be near impossible without stunning or roping first, and the enemies will constantly wind up these giant attacks that are near undodgable because the hitbox on the attack is so much bigger than it should be. I spend most encounters standing in high places where the enemies can’t reach me instead because the health pools are so large and combat is so bad.
As Someone who experienced this universe for the first time on PC like 2 years after it originally released...it bums me out its once again only coming to play station...I really really dont want to wait another 2 years before I can play this game myself
man this game has an overwhelming amount of features, so many weapons, so many movement possibilities, so many ways of killing machines, underwater gameplay, overriding new machines. its very easy to get lost in such a wide freedom of choice. this game has a potential to have the best shooting hybrid combat system ever
I know it’s an unpopular opinion but I didn’t love HZD. I had way to high expectations from other people. I just could not get into the game like I’ve done with other open world games before. The characters weren’t that interesting, I like Aloy and Rost and the story overall was okay but, I wish the game made a stronger connection between Rost and the player so the player would feel more of what Aloy was feeling when losing Rost. Kinda like tlou made us love The relationship between Ellie and Joel. I loved the visuals of the game and walked around in the game just observing stuff because it was so beautiful. The story just didn’t do it for me. The repetitive side quests didn’t really help either.
they said everything is 100% claimable besides inside tribes. Shadow of colossus had a glider before breath of the wild, BOTW did not inevent a glider in a video game 😑
@@bk6555 I never called out any zleda fans. I just said people need to get out of the mindset that whatever zelda had in the game they did not invest in a video game first. the amount of games that gets compared to it is unreal
The original game is one of 4 that tip the scale for me getting a PS4 Pro. I was pretty much done with consoles and was strictly gaming in PC. I reconsidered and was happy after learning about some of the exclusives. I do not regret it.
HZD was already on pc by the time I decided to get a PS4. Nier: Automata, and The Last of US were what drove me to finally get the ps4. Ratchet and Clank, Bloodborne, and God of War were also big motivators, but I only got those once I finished the previous two.
OK, I know it's been a few years since I played the first game but... I'm pretty sure when you put on the clothing in the game; it gave you some sort of special ability. Like, being able to sneak more quitely. Or, take less hits from "___ element." 😅
One thing I would like to see is more lore on the design of the machines from the “old ones”. It’s clear that these machines were originally designed as terraforming machines just by watching them and asking myself what is the purpose of say the crabs. I would like to learn some in game lore about the design of them.
The wait is killing me. Can’t believe we’re only month away. I am going to harass this game. I’ve already filed a missing persons report on myself in advance 5 days after release date. I haven’t been seen since.
I loved HZD when it came to PC. Surprisingly smooth on my 1660 Ti mobile graphics. It felt like a mix of Far Cry, GTA, AC Odyssey, Witcher 3, Watch Dog and Fallout, in a very satisfying good way. It had everything I liked in a open world action game. I can't say the same about Cyberpunk sadly, which I'm currently playing.
It also has 3D graphics like Breath of the wild, and an open world like Breath of the wild..... There are other games in existence, for example Assassins Creed had free climb before breath of the wild was even thought of
I can't wait, the first one is probably my #1 open world game, the combat specially is incredibly fun even dozens of hours into the game. Outside of the Shadow of Mordor/War series, I've never had a game where I would just go hunting monsters for the hell of it and here in HZD I did it between almost every quest and long after finishing the main story.
Jebus, the glider comparison. They did an interview and the glider was actually a thing that was meant to be in the first game but was scraped because they could not implement it due to technical reasons, probably something to do with their engine and or budget.
I played HZD because steam recommends it after 300 hours in TW3. I am pretty skeptical at first, but HZD manage to make combat more fun than TW3. As for side quest and world experience only RD2 can be compared to TW3
Yep. Open world emergent gameplay RDR2>TW3, emotional resonance of the story TW3=RDR2; Side quests TW3>RDR2; The Witcher 3 is my overall favorite game since it’s also in my favorite genre but damn RDR2 is a very close second. HZD has only one thing better and that’s its combat. The story is fine. Acting and character animations are wooden. The open world is beautiful but boring.
This game looks stunning A shame I moved to pc last year, although at least I can play god of war on pc and hopefully blood borne soon too ( loved that game )

This game was the only reason why I bought my ps5 when the opportunity came up. Forbidden West is in my top 3 favorite games of all time, and I didn't want to see it run like trash on the ps4 after what happened with Cyberpunk. I don't particularly like her "new" face. It seems to have lost some feminine traits. They should have kept the one for Zero Dawn which was perfectly fine. We don't need Aloy to look like a supermodel, but they could give her a small dose of estrogen before launch.
I don't care about her being pretty or ugly or w/e, its just that.. she has jowls, despite being a hyper active, 20 year old, incredibly inshape, there is no way she'd have John Goodman jowls like that.
She ate a lot apparently. And cross fit is not enough. It seems like having a normal good looking character is wrong nowadays. I remember playing fighting games or others with a cute character and it felt good. I’ve never thought…. This is a fighting game, she should be uglier

There have been so many open world games that have used that mechanic way before it even came out
Nintendrone mentality it does not exist unless Nintendo claimed they created it
Fortnite too! Am I right? 😆
Yeah, non Zelda fans playing BotW. But gliding was in Wind Waker.
I mean wind waker did that you know that???
Yeah but that's a common thread with anything really. Go read a YA fantasy series about magic and all the reviews on goodreads and the like are comparing it to Harry Potter. Or how every shounen that comes out nowadays is copying naruto. People tend to think that the most popular example of a trope is the original, and nothing can ever look like it or they're being unoriginal. "Oh a bad guy who was secretly on the good side? They stole that from Harry Potter!" "That character is wielding two swords! They're ripping off Kirito from SAO!"
It seems like that habit will never die off and people are always going to compare common traits to the most popular example.
That grapple is going to a) add some pretty awesome options to exploration and b) probably lead to some pretty hilarious glitches and some solid speed running skips more than likely.
The thing i like about this sequel is that the improvment wasnt only graphicaly but also the gameplay and new machines this game will be awesome
She's a butch girl boss...🤔
@@deadnorth8648 and?
I didn't even notice the graphical improvments, and that's not a bad thing, goes to show how beautiful the first game already was.
we don't know about the graphical improvement yet... don't forget that there is always a downgrade waiting for you in the corner
The lore was definitely a cool idea but they should drop all the girl boss stuff that stemmed from gamer gate
Its clearly not selling games and it pushes all people playing game away even more
@umar b Yeah I don’t know what he was talking about because I didn’t get that from aloy at all. Sure she was pretty serious, and a bit boring in story scenes, she didn’t have the same poor writing choices other characters have due to forced corporate gender change.
@@deadnorth8648 I didn’t think Aloy was “girl boss”. She had her ass handed to her many times and she rose up from pretty much nothing
@@deadnorth8648 She literally told every one to stop calling her The Anointed. And HZD sold like hot cakes and HFW is probably the most anticipated title on PS5 right now.

This game can't come soon enough. It looks beautiful.
i hope that they've changed the mount galloping mechanic, instead of constantly having to press X to go full speed, just use the traditional L3 button toggle.
Has anyone else noticed how when you're flying, if your Sunwing's wing hits the water, the water reacts. It's pretty cool.
My concern is the story.
I loved the first one, it is on my replay list with the ps5 upgrade but for me it is about story and I an concerned that this element won't be as strong.
I am still really looking forward to this game and I hope my concerns are completely unfounded and that they have created a masterpiece
What makes u think it won't be
It will be extremely hard for this game to replicate how engaging the first one's story was, mainly because of the mystery and intrigue it had. The only way I see the story being better is if the characters are improved, which was my main complaint of the first one.
@@maudelhoyo4019 you're high af. The main story sucked balls

@@dread1262 why?
Would be nice is they allow the machines to follow you around after you take control of them. Would make some combat more fun rather than in the first game you’d have to get lucky for your machine to come back you up.

Lost my data when my PS4 died in 2020 so had to start back over almost from the beginning. I've had more time to play after finishing Ghost of Tsushima, but still haven't gotten that far so I'll be jumping into Forbidden West immediately after finally beating Zero Dawn.

Same but i hated the sidequests
Well done gameranx putting her face front and center for that title. We see and approve.
The first game was a solid foundation for the franchise and every aspect seems to be ratcheted up a notch or two in the sequel. It looks to be a hell of a lot of fun, and it'll be interesting to see how the franchise continues to evolve with each entry.

Sometimes I spend like 5 seconds trying to find the correct one, while I'm escaping from a bunch of enemies with 2 points of life
I adored HZD, even with the flawed melee combat. I'm super excited to see where HFB goes with the story after the ending with Sylens
What was the melee flaw? I used melee for a giant chunk of my time with the game
The things I love about this game is the environment, the soundtrack, the graphics and combat
I am really trying my hardest to not board the hype train & be as fair & unbiased when it's released but damn is it difficult to not be stoked for this to come out
If its even half as good as the first, I think we will have few problems
I know this already has a lot of hype and anticipation around it, but it almost feels not enough? Like this stuff looks AMAZING like my gawd! They took an already great game that had 10/10 features across the board and just set them to override and surpassed those great features! I don't know man, maybe I've just not enough in game-talking spheres. I just loved this game. Loved the exploration, the sort of survival aspect, and fighting big hunkin dinosaur machines, and overall just messing around in this incredible world. Can't wait for Forbidden West!
For someone who has fully upgraded the melee in Horizon, it's a bit overpowered
Depends what difficulty you play at
I can't get over how great the sand and animations look. I might just be sold on getting this gem.
Bit of a cliff hanger with Sylens though. I'd love to see him make a big return, hes a great character.
She has tons of motivation, there is content to fill in the gaps of what you are missing.
I was really hoping to see a cool massive spinosaurus robot this time, guess we don't get that yet
I'd say the biggest change is that it's being advertised alongside a console that does not exist.
Always nice to see a Dutch game do so well as a Dutchman. We don't get much attendance. So this is always nice to see
I think the polish of this game is going to be beyond my expectations!

I hope they improve the melee combat. I tried replaying hzd a while ago. But when I try melee combat I could not believe it was that bad.
I loved the first game but the gameplay is so mediocre but that's because Sony fans take graphics over gameplay so they mainly focus on graphics over anything else
@@haunteddreams7856 yea that's not sony fans😭 the game was jus trash
I just picked it up on PC during the winter sale after reading glowing reviews and holy shit it caught me off guard how horrible the combat is. You end up constantly swinging past the enemy since there’s no lock on, the machines move so jarringly and suddenly that hitting crit spots can be near impossible without stunning or roping first, and the enemies will constantly wind up these giant attacks that are near undodgable because the hitbox on the attack is so much bigger than it should be.
I spend most encounters standing in high places where the enemies can’t reach me instead because the health pools are so large and combat is so bad.
My only complaint in HZD is that zooming system when fighting big machines in close combat. I hope they fix that in HFW

man this game has an overwhelming amount of features, so many weapons, so many movement possibilities, so many ways of killing machines, underwater gameplay, overriding new machines. its very easy to get lost in such a wide freedom of choice. this game has a potential to have the best shooting hybrid combat system ever
