This Stave Bubinga snare is equipped with Angel iron hoops. There's a particular growl you get in the lower midrange that is unique to the Bubinga sound, along with excellent focus, presence and crack.

Very cool! So what with these Angel Iron Hoops all about? Are they Single Flange, or quite different? Can the hoops be purchased by themselves?

They have a unique sound and solid feel. Unfortunately, Angel isn't producing drums or hoops for the foreseeable future. This drum should cost twice as much and is currently on sale for $650. The hoops were once owned by Billy Cobham himself.
