Harry thank you so much for this video ! There's something very soothing and calming about your speech that makes my anxiety disappear completely ! My passion for automobiles comes from a very tender age when I started karting and even though I had my fair share of troubles and bad moments in life, my love for cars never changed, what I'm trying to say here is that I truly admire and relate to your passion and also am truly grateful that you make this content available to us all around the world for free ! Thank you thank you thank you, you awesome chap !

Enjoy! I enjoyed this video because it showed me what the Gotthard Pass is like up top. Last time I was there my mates & I went through the TUNNEL instead... all 10.5 miles of it. We did not think that plan through, and our faces were black with exhaust fumes by the time we reached the end. Hah.

My mate and I had a good idea in taking his old mans wraith out while his parents were away. Within 5 minutes his old man was on the phone from somewhere in the u s of a going bonkers and telling us in no un certain terms to put it back, must of had a thingy on his phone but omg what a car an absolutely amazing machine never been in anything remotely close to it. Rolls Royce are in a class of there own and yes we put the car back straight away as that was the right thing to do and spent the rest of the day polishing it, the car just has so much presence and deserves to be stared at in owe. Thanks Mr Harry I tip my hat too you👍

I really enjoyed that, thank you, Harry. Continental motoring as few will ever experience, with a spoonful of nostalgia in Coupe des Alpes country. And your commentary is concise , to the point yet choc a bloc with relevant and interesting facts and figures. Last but not least, your sparkle as you look into the lens conveys a joi de vivre and an infectious enthusiasm for real motoring which reminded me of Stirling Moss, John Bolster with a touch of Gregor Grant thrown in to keep us grounded. Yes, you are a truly gifted motoring journalist, Harry, brilliant!

5:12 *That's Brilliant, my 1978 Silver Shadow (6.2 Litre V8) did around 12mpg and the best I achieved was 14 mpg, however Petrol was far cheaper then, I remember it around 67p PER GALLON - sold the car in 1982 when went to just over £1 per GALLON, with the number plate 45 K. They say that if you have to ask how many MPG does it do you can't afford it, but I have always been 'reputably 'careful'. **9:34** Been there many times but surprised you managed to get out the 'Bad Word' Pass, I always referred to it as the Rhône Glacier Pass when Ladies present. First went over the Gotthard Pass in 1961 on my 350cc Triumph 21 before any tunnels and 42 hairpin cobbled roads, the view down to Airola from the top was awesome., it was raining and stayed the night at bottom (Airola) and when looked up in the AM could not believe where I had been. **21:10** You did again Harry - please call it the Rhône Glacier Pass as far more chivalrous and respectful. Also done similar trip on my Suzuki RG500 Model C **_'Kevin Schwantz'_** race replica.*

They're always saying that this is great (and it is for a passenger who wants to sleep), but as a driver I wouldn't want this. Hearing is an integral part of our perception of the environment and losing that sense can't be good for safe driving.

valgehiir but he put the foot down on the autobahn it sounded loud like a sportscar, I wonder if he was on a specific mode that makes it also louder or if you put you foot down anytime it would get loud like that on the black badge because on a standard RR it wouldn't get that loud, you almost not hear the engine

Harry, such a fantastic presenter. My favourite car buff.
I am jealous that you got to do the Furka Pass in late May 2017. We tried to do it from the Swiss side the last week of May 2015 in a super lightweight sedan.
Blocked by snow with the barrier down at Raterichsbodensee lake. We also wanted to do the Grimsel Pass.
It was closed and we had to use the Gotthard Tunnel to get us to the enchanting Lake Maggiore.
Our leased Citroen C4 Cactus 1.6 turbo diesel with the six speed ETG automoted manual turned out to be a very comforable touring car, despite its diminuative 1,100 kilos.
8 weeks from Lisbon, across the Picos de Europe in spring, stunning and so little traffic. Go there for magnificent scenery and great roads. The zee Pyrenees and zig zag across France.
Overnight Ferry from Cherbough in Northern France to Rosslare in Southern Ireland. Such a fabulous country and people. Throw the Cactus on the ferry from Northern Island to Troon Scotland beside a magnificent new copper gold Bentley Continental driven by an jovial Irish hotelier on his weekly commute. British performance and glamour meets French chic and quirkiness. Photo snap for posterity.
Continued the enchantment in The Lakes, Wales and Cotswolds, the first day of Wimbledon in The Queue at 5.30 am. No one does queuing like the English. Imagine 10,000 Italians in a 5 hour queue.
When we returned the car in down town Paris, the trip computer showed 4.6 litres / 100 km for 10,500 kms or 51 mpg... This is hybrid territory.
On the subject of Rollers as a driver's car in high speed waft mode. In my 1979 run across Europe in my boss's 1978 RR Shadow II, it could be a fun hustle with the first rack and pinion steering. Almost a touch of rear wheel drift could be induced by this spirited 25 year old 'responsible' Aussie scallywag. Open road touring at 75 - 85 mph would return 17 - 18 mpg. The best we saw was similar to your average at 22 mpg.
I swear if you put the boot in to sizzle waft mode, at 115 mph you could see the fuel gauge descending. The 24 gallon tank draining Arabian oil reserves at 10 - 11 mpg. In three hours there would be no more wafting without a nozzle pumping resuscitation.
And the RR Shadow II was the first to use upper and lower air conditioning control wheels with red and blue, rather than temperature settings, now in your Wraith paired into one control. However, being a late 70's British car it did come with its share of foibles. One Aussie and four Froggies set out down the Rhone Valley autoroute towards Marseille to attend a 2CV Cross. Temperature on the outside guage - 32 degrees C. Turn the A/C to Auto with the upper control wheel with a bit more blue than the lower one. Subdued whirring sounds deep in the dash and then, ominous silence.
No gusts of frigid air from a system fabled to be enough for a 3 bedroom house. Nothing, zilch, nada. Switch the control chrome knob to High. Nope. Low, nope. Back to Auto. We have only silence. Bother, not good show old chap. Okay, not so old at 15 months since new. We set off... onto Le Peage... Soon we discover what the whirring was all about. The valves / ducts are set to heat. Freeway speed is pumping heated up 31 degrees into our face and down to the footwells at maybe 45 degrees. Frantically try different setting with the control knob and temperature wheels. Even in the off position we have hot stuff. Set control to off. No change. Open all windows, engage cruise control to 120 kph. Driver's and front passengers feet on the seat squab with knees available to tickle our chins. Otherwise shoes and feet get oven roasted.
Look, not feet.... 200 kms adjusting speed via the cruise control wand where necessary.
The next day emerging from our tents, setting off to get food and dring supplies, now sporting a large 2CV Cross sticker on the back door, switch in the off position - the A/C started cooling. Go figure...
Keep up the great reviews and fun fangs....

Fantastic video Harry! I basically grew up on those passes. Done them so many, many times - they never get boring!
You got really lucky with the Furka. I'd say it just opened a day or to before you went there. The Grimsel just opened yesterday. Did the Furka and Grimsel yesterday to properly kick off the season.
Just a word of caution about the Grimsel. It's the most policed pass in that area. The roads allow for higher speeds but don't try your luck as the police might wait around the next bend or at the top.
