Beautiful!! Was told and read this variation is forbidden at YAGP and points deducted? Am I misinformed? Or did she get special permission from Makarova? Love this variation!

Geralyn Garner The current rules are that the Nikia variation can be used if it’s under 2.5 minutes

That’s Nikiya. This is the Temple Variation choreographed by Makarova that IS forbidden, which is why I’m unsure why this dancer chose to perform it.

@@mimipremo why is it forbidden?as a non ballet dancer that sounds moronic she danced it beautifully
      • La Bayadere (M. Petipa) Three Shade Variations, Act III; Gamzatti Variation, Pas de
Deux and Variations, Bronze Idol, Nikia Variation (Nikia Variation is not accepted for
      competition, unless under 2:30 minutes.)
Please note: Gamzatti Temple Variation (Choreography - N. Makarova) - is NOT
accepted (or judges can lower your score).

@@kivalily my understanding is the lack of technical elements. There's some turning and flexibility but no jumps, very little complicated footwork, and all the turns are on one side. There's a lot of musicality and it looks mature, but it doesn't showcase a lot of technique. It used to be extremely popular because of this and I think YAGP just got a lil tired of it.
