    Hello John, I have been a subscriber of your channel for at least 2 years now and this is the first time I have commented. I have just made your brioche loaves and they are currently baking in the oven. I have set the timer for 25 mins to cover with foil if necessary. I decided to make the loaves for my nephew and his family as they love brioche and I am hoping this is the best they have ever tasted. I used only organic ingredients. Let me tell you, the mix was exactly as you showed in your video. I'm not the greatest at braiding bread but they look okay. They rose perfectly for all 3 rises and I can't wait to try some when I take them to Sydney to them tomorrow. I can not thank you enough for all you do, I have made so many of your recipes over the years and they all turn out perfectly! You really are amazing and I love the fact that you let your personality shine while you teach us all around the world how to make things better than ever before. Wishing you every success with your book (I have ordered via Amazon). Hugs to you and your wonderful family from Melbourne, Australia. x

Time consuming? a little, but still fairly easy (minus wrestling the dough off the hook every 2 mins LOL). I totally recommend you try this recipe- I’m saving it. John! I have a tip for braiding the bread. Start braiding from the middle! Then, turn it over, and at the tips, make a light mark with the side of your palm, as if you pretend cutting the corners and fold them.

  • @patriciac.2796
    @patriciac.2796 2 года назад +20

    I just made this. It's the most unbelievably fluffy, slightly milky amazing bread. It exceeded all my expectations. I folded it into 10 small croissant like pieces before putting it in the pan instead of braiding. My starter yeast was way less runny so I wasn't confident and the hook didn't seem to mix the dough very much but I kept mixing and ill do it again for sure. I'll double the recipe and freeze half because both these leaves will be gone by day 2 😂

    Hi! Thank for the video. I had a few issues when making my brioche today, following this recipe. I have made brioche twice before and I used 3 cups of flour. When you stated five cups of flour, I had to rewind to make sure I heard correctly. I added the 5 cups against my better judgment thinking that does not look like he has five cups of flour in your bowl. I thought, what do I know. He is the expert here :). I also made sure I hand spooned the cups of flour in the measuring cup and leveled it off with a knife. Guess what just happened?! My mixer broke, a brand-new kitchen aid stand mixer that I purchased solely for the purpose of making bread. I had only used it once before to mix the bread for brioche. $500. I am sick right now! I would advise anyone who is following this recipe to use three cups of flour and not five cups as stated here.
    Update, the mixer had only over heated and I was able to finish mixing it, but I had to do it two pieces then add it back together when I added the butter. The butter helped tremendously.

    I made it today, for the first time and turned out great. My notes: I took half measures. I kneaded manually because I don t have those fancy mixers, for about 10 min. I didn t use all flour. I backed around 45 min. I guess it s because of my oven. Important do not cut or eat untill it cools, wait at least about 1h or two.

    Yeah! Using the sponge is a great way to develop a little more flavor and to cut down on the fermentation time because not everyone has access to osmotolerant yeast.

    Congrats on the book. As a diabetic, I can't eat much of what you make, but I truly enjoy watching. I am hoping that sometime you can address some recipes for people with medical limitations such as low carb or low salt (or both). I have been developing alternatives for many years but it is a real challenge when I don't have a background like yours.

    The statement attributed to Marie Antoinette is usually rendered into English as "Let them eat cake!" But in the original French it is "Qu'ils mangent de la brioche!" It's truly bead to die for!!
