Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup (180ml) warm milk
- 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp white sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp dry yeast
- 6 eggs
- 5 Tbsp of sugar
- 2 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 5 cups (600g) all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 cup (283g) unsalted butter

Which bread can I make using bread flour?
I have made this recepie twice now. I found my bread to be crumbly once baked. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?
Darn i just tried this recipe and mesaured it in grams..and did everything exactly ghe recipe said but for some reason my dough was still wet so i started adding some more dough but all tha happend was my dough just got heavy so i didnt bother adding the butter cuz i can see the recipe already failed ..can u tell me what possibly went wrong?
My dough turned rock hard and burned out my mixer

Alright y’all, I just finished eating a cinnamon roll made with this recipe and I am ELATED at how they turned out!! Time consuming? a little, but still fairly easy (minus wrestling the dough off the hook every 2 mins LOL). I totally recommend you try this recipe- I’m saving it. I made a loaf too and will be making my hubby a sandwich with it tomorrow for lunch.. and maybe french toast or bread pudding with what’s left! THANK YOUUUU

You could also refrigerate the dough overnight after the first rise then complete the process the next day.

Hello John, I have been a subscriber of your channel for at least 2 years now and this is the first time I have commented. I have just made your brioche loaves and they are currently baking in the oven. I have set the timer for 25 mins to cover with foil if necessary. I decided to make the loaves for my nephew and his family as they love brioche and I am hoping this is the best they have ever tasted. I used only organic ingredients. Let me tell you, the mix was exactly as you showed in your video. I'm not the greatest at braiding bread but they look okay. They rose perfectly for all 3 rises and I can't wait to try some when I take them to Sydney to them tomorrow. I can not thank you enough for all you do, I have made so many of your recipes over the years and they all turn out perfectly! You really are amazing and I love the fact that you let your personality shine while you teach us all around the world how to make things better than ever before. Hello! Can the Preppy Kitchen audience help me out? I thought that John made a video about his favorite kitchen tools but I can’t find it! I am interested in knowing the type of thermometer to buy to use when making caramels, frostings, anything baking-related. I don’t know if one of the ones that have the fold out probe and are meant to be used for meat will work, and I thought he addressed that? Can anyone help or provide guidance? I’d be super appreciative. Cannot wait for October 2022 and your book, congratulations!

This sounds so much more difficult than the brioche bread recipe that I use that is already delicious, so I can't imagine how delicious this one must be. I should try it one day !
I don’t have a mixer so I do brioche by hand and I can tell ya, it’s a workout and a half🤣
I just made this. It's the most unbelievably fluffy, slightly milky amazing bread. It exceeded all my expectations. I folded it into 10 small croissant like pieces before putting it in the pan instead of braiding. My starter yeast was way less runny so I wasn't confident and the hook didn't seem to mix the dough very much but I kept mixing and ill do it again for sure. I'll double the recipe and freeze half because both these leaves will be gone by day 2 😂
I almost doubled the milk for the starter and ended up with exactly the same look as in the video.
@@collin7776 yeah, my starter is VERY thick. It sure looked like he added more than 3/4 cup of milk to the starter. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. 😬😬

Hi, I tried this recipe but the dough was always too wet and too buttery, it never got to the "doughy" stage at all, no matter for long how I kneaded it. I also tried kneading on high speed for a good amount of time but that also didn't help.
what may have been the problem?

I was so excited to make this but cut the recipe in half. Glad I did. I followed along with John and did everything exact. First rise, NOTHING! My yeast is new, my milk was the right temp and it bloomed perfectly. l did knead about an extra 5 minutes because it was still too sticky. Otherwise I did nothing different. Anyone know if I can do anything with this dough so I dont have to throw it out?

Does anyone know how to keep yeast fresh? I bought the big, big bag and now I’m afraid to open it because I don’t want to waste it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated ♥️
Keep them in freezer.

I keep the open bag sealed really tight and inside a ziploc. Then I keep some in a container in the refrigerator. Been doing thus forever. My yeast never fail to bloom (work).

the fact that you need to explain how dense of a salt you're using (kosher against table salt) is the reason why volumetric measurements suck and we all should do away without them. Simple kitchen scale is not that expensive but makes baking so much easier

Tried this recipe, dough was solid as a rock. Also almost burned out my mixer. Don’t know what I did wrong, but not trying this recipe again for a long while.

I made for 35 years bread.. now every week banana bread ( Naupole and others style ) and white bread some time whit cheese.. but this one is the best I never made..only one problem my wife want this every week....
