- This brand new Kayak VR Mirage update makes one of the best VR games EVEN better by giving players a full body IK built using the Metahumans software (yes we have ARMS NOW) & there is also a STUNNING new environment available as a paid DLC. This new Kayak VR level costs £6.99 on Steam and £6.49 over on PSVR2, it add the gorgeous Soca River environment complete with new races, a new free roam and even the games first white water rafting sections; honestly this is one of the most detailed and realistic VR environments I've ever seen, it's genuinely breath-taking. Kayak VR Mirage is one of only a few VR games that I would consider to be perfect and this update & optional DLC fills in some of the only "issues" I had with the original release (I wanted more levels and arms... We now have both!). I hope we continue to get new levels and updates for Kayak VR because honestly this is easily one of the best VR games ever and it just keeps getting better...

So. Take this game. And let them do a LOTR DLC where you're going down the river the Fellowship goes down in the first movie and you see the giant stone carved men. Holy moly that would be awesome.

I watch rain and storm videos to help me relax and sleep and I keep hoping someone creates such a thing in VR. This game might be ideal for that. I just want to sit in the snow or rain in the woods and soak it all in.

Skyrim VR with a good weather mod and just lay down :D i even tried jumping in bed irl and in my house in skyrim to test it out and it was really immersive

I'm exactly the same way. There are some GREAT worlds in VR Chat that support realistic rain and storms. You can create an instance of them so there is no one else around. These Worlds include: A Rainy Night In, Rainy Forest, Stormy Cave, Waves, Sovren's Chill Home, Sovern's Cozy Club, Cuddle Me, Night Hangout
Go to the Norway part and select storm. Turn your headphones volume right up. It's incredible

I used to enjoy a lot to Kayak in real life, and this game is incredible with the physics (it's mind blowing that you can push yourself away from rocks with the paddle, as simple and obvious as it is, and the game actually respond in a very realistic way, with the kayak also tilting for the force applied!) and the vibe that ignited again that passion!
Probably the most realistic looking VR game at the moment.
Awesome on psvr2 with haptics, astonishing, worth every penny, shows what vr can be with the limitations taken off.

@@SKBKERyeah not sure why. The HDR is unbelievable in this game on the VR2. I’ve played it on PCVR as well and the Quest does not do it any justice.
@@mountaindrew5219 I'm not sure I'd agree. I've seen many people say the clarity of Q3 is much better than PSVR2 and at least insofar as VR is concerned, I'd take that *and* the fact I can stream from my PC wirelessly over tethered blurriness, HDR notwithstanding.

@@mountaindrew5219 VR2 is no match to Q3 with powerful PC Rig. Returned my VR2 and bought Q3 and experience is a lot better. Im playing on 4080s wireless via VD.

A surfing game where you actually start off in a lying down position on the board paddling out, and then have to get up into a standing position to surf would/could be awesome!!!!

It shows it, just imagine you're inside of the screen lol Quest 3 on PC is alot more like a phone screen vs Quest 2 on PC, that looks like you have foggy goggles over everything.
This is great news I've never played vr in my life and it looks great just watching beardo play, so I can imagine what the real deal is like
Mirage is great but could be better. Whitewater VR helps fill that void tremendously. Imagine the two combing forces. BUT WAIT! Now imagine they add kayak fishing to it all. Now THAT would be a top tier fully realized kayaking game. If you really want to go the extra mile just lump in Subside to the mix. Nothing would be able to beat it.
not a game; it's an experience. Other than racing your ghost, there's just lovely paddling. It's something to show people VR for the first time.
for the 1st timers I have the Richie's Plank Experience. Works wonders

I agree that the future of VR will include more and more tourism content. I currently only have Quest headsets and this kayak thing is a huge push for me to get into PCVR. Wow! I love this kind of content. Thank you for the share!

i started with the Occulus then Rift2 then Quest2... and always use it with PCVR...
Q2 is already amazing but my mind will be blown with the Quest3
One of best examples of VR out there. It is next level with Varjo Aero with a high end PC/ 4090 GTX. Great to see studio is still pushing what is possible

I just ordered my Quest 3 this looks like a nice relaxation game to play when you're feeling stressed so I might pick this one up when I get it delivered

@rpirpz I like it so far but that head strap that comes with it isn't that great though it doesn't really fit my head that well so I'd recommend probably ordering a 3rd party head strap with a battery or the elite strap with a battery for longer playtime

@@rpirpz This is much better than 2, Larger field of view, higher resolution, what impressed me most by far was the passthrough, there are already several insane passthrough games and news apps, it's really worth it
Game looks incredible on the PSVR2. The HDR is unbelievable. I’ve played it through Viveport as well on PC and playing this game on a Quest barely does it justice.
I wonder how it'll look on my Quest 1 and my 1050ti. I started playing Half Life Alyx on it, and im hitting 72fps with my setup, even if only at low settings. Id guess it wont look nearly as good, but im hoping itll be looking more realistic than job simulator or superhot vr, and im hoping ill atleast reach 45fps
qest 3 on pc view with an high end pc have a lot better resolution and a better lenses than PSVR

@@MatrixOracleYT do you know that without the OLED and HDR, this game is not as immersive? I’ve played it on both PSVR2 and PCVR on Quest 3 and Quest Pro. PSVR2 version has the highest fidelity.
Tried this out on the PSVR 2 and it was by far the best experience offered by Kayak VR. Some minor pop in issues here and there, but white water rapids sequence was a blast!
I played this on my Pimax 8kx and was blown away by the immersion

I remember the Demo they gave out awhile back. looked great but the controls and physics to move the boat was off. Hoping they fixed this. The graphics look even better in this update.
White water area is awesome, as is the whole location, but that zone needs more actual "white water" foam from going over, around and against the rocks. Can you take your hands off the paddle to dip into the water or pick up the duck? I would love this to experience something like this in VR. It would be great if the developers did river explorations for tons of well known locations.

It's only available on Steam or in the PlayStation store. Quest³ doesn't have the processing power to pull this off.

This is so true, it's amazing to relax in, but can get boring, however, I have started to make it a thing at Christmas to play as it usually has a nice Christmas decorated environment with music etc-great on Christmas eve with the family 👍
I just sit there looking around relaxing it's a peaceful, great experience

I would change a few things - I want telemetry output to enable motion rig support, openXR support and quad views for eye tracking so we can really crank up the resolution!

If You are watching this - This is what VR was built for...
They should have add a Giant Crocodile 🐊 and a Great White Shark 🦈 both chasing you trying to eat you. That would definitely make this game much more exciting to play.
Great point about “arms”. They don’t need to be good as you don’t look at them you just expect some object should be there.
Hands without arms does the opposite of feeling realistic, the strangeness attracts your attention.
Is the underwater world possible to see? If so, it doubles the experience!
Now this game is WONDERFUL, wish all sick blood-gore-shooters would be banned from traumatizing and sickening children and youth and instead they could play uplifting, state-of-the-art beautiful nature embracing games like this. Let's respect nature, what's left of it.
We will never get this back, as it was in paradise, but maybe we can protect what's left of it. We already drink car tyre microplastic granulates, please think about the environment. Love & peace

To those lurking in the comments.. despite his praise.. I think you should be wary of this "game".. might wanna wait for a sale cause there's really not too much to the game. Visuals are nice but that doesnt provide much after youve done stuff a lot. Many people can love it... but understand that its not really a true game.. the price reflects that but still would be nice to have more.

As soon as you mentioned Surfing, I remembered wanting to play Kelly Slater Surfing. I loved Dave Mira BMX 2. Such a good soundtrack. Such a chill Flow State. That's kinda what games are all about achieving.
Rotate the bike. Rotate your body around the bike...
With practice, you can hit that same state in VR Skater. And THPS 1+2 Remake is available in UEVR. Fantastic experience in that one

I just started playing this on my Quest 2 with the Graphic Setting at Epic. It does not look nearly as clear as the recorded video on this video. I'm I missing something here? When the images sent to the VR Headset are as clear and sharp as this video then I might agree that its better than Real Life.

I bought this game. Looks great. How do I get rid of the controllers in game though? I'm clearly missing this option. The controllers and a constant (toggle desktop) message kill the immersion. I notice you don't have it showing. Thanks!

Nope. Gonna have to get something much more powerful, like the, uh... the uh.. oh right, there isn't anything more powerful. Dumb flex.
Not cyberpunk or RDR2.....But mostly every other game,even on ultra should get you 90fps at least

I have tried this title, in summer 2022. It had a microstutter on every.paddle.stroke ! It's very subtle and also very naucea-inducing within minutes. I play FPS titles HL:Alyx or Hubris for hours just fine, as well as say Elite Dangerous (not played that in years tho). But I'll say I have my VR legs working. It seems they never fixed that, at least not in the period I had this title (or have they afterwards? Idk, but I suspect not - I'm not trying to be negative, but as only a few people had this issue I guess they never did anything with it, which I can understand, reluctantly :p).
At the time I had a GTX 1080 Ti and an Oculus Quest 1 (still have the headset). Turning my head side-to-side was fine, motion forward etc. was fine, except when I turned with the kayak as you do a little bit with every paddle stroke.
Otherwise it was a fantastic and breathtaking game, but I had to let this one go.
I also haven't played much VR lately either btw (I go through HL:A once a year or so and that's basically it, give or take).

it does help if you have a 4090. Still looks good on a lower end PC but not as good.
I played it last year with quest 2, a 2070s and r5 3600, I got it refunded because I was disappointed with the visuals and performance. Maybe now with the rx6950xt and a r5 7600 will look better, I will keep an eye on it.
Yes. Really loved the immersion and simplicity of the original even though my 1070 is entry level to VR nowadays. Will be buying this DLC. It's such a holiday escape experience.
I have it, I like it, but play it not very much. I also bought Whitewater VR: extreme kayaking, almost as good and beautiful. Difference is that the water you're in has waterfalls...
Get a stick, tape your controllers to the stick .. and you now have a kayaking simulator. Playing this game with unconnected controllers is missing the brief. I am downloading this DLC now, cannot wait to try the whitewater.
EDIT: Fantastic new level. Beautiful, plenty of wildlife. The whitewater section is a lot of fun. The level is long. Getting in early has allowed me to be top 10 in one of the races, haha. Playing this on my 3080 and Quest 2, and it still looks absolutely gorgeous.
FYI you would be dead in real life if you reacted like that when you came across the bear. MOVE AWAY FROM THE BEAR, is the thing you want to do. And it's more male or mother bear that is what you should consider.
It seems beautiful, I am waiting for this to release on psplus deluxe and if i enjoy it I will certainly buy the DLC also, Do you know if the graphics were also improoved in base game?
Just tried it. It feels super dark. In the bottom of those canyons I can't even see the water of my kayak. I am probably doing something wrong with the settings, but I couldn't figure it out.
Also, my antivirus blocked the exe file at first. It's naturally a false positive, but still annoying to have to handle. The rapids are quite fun, if you want to spend all your time going backwards :D Probably just need some training in that one.
You buy a game that underdelivered in the variety of environments, than you have to purchase $8 DLCs to fix the original issue. Feels scammy. I'll pass pass.

Did you try out whitewater VR? ...that's a very beauty kayak game with even more action from a single developer. i didn't like kayak mirage because the boring/still water

This would be even more amazing if you could also swim in the water, like in Skyrim. That's awesome.
Id love to know does the PC version have pop up like the trees just pop up and other things at times if U understand what I mean the psvr 2 version has it and it's very very noticeable. Really does take away from the immersion
Mate can i just say your videos are top notch, you clearly have a good setup to be proud of to pump out the highest quality videos, which you should be proud of that you saved up to get there BUT..... YOUR THUMNAILS!!! their incredible and you deserve SO many more veiws ans likes for that alone, videos are videos but you clearly put alot of effort in the thumbnail!!

This game need fishing poles.. id spend all day in it if they made a full fishing sim out of it. gets boring after a while otherwise.. beyond beautiful though.
also if you hold your hands with the tops of the controllers facing each other, kinda like the hands look in game you can get a stronger and better paddle going. you row like you have 2 canoe oars
