Sonic and Crash Bandicoot crossover! I'd never thought I'd see the day. Everyone go home, we have reached levels of Crash 2 modding that shouldn't even be possible at this point. This is truly an underrated masterpiece.
During development, the codename for Crash 1 was "Sonic's Ass Game", as the camera would be constantly looking at the character's backside. We've come full circle.

Yeah, such a shame. They've pulled off some unfriggenbelievable feats, showing there's far more to just editing crate and enemy placements. Music mods, boss mods, minigame mods, now this. My mind was blown every single time.
@@RoseSupreme I also really like completely new crates and different mechanics ported into the game, like switching gravity for boxes or adding Crash 3 levels and time trials in Crash 2. It's not something unoriginal and soulles like "Cortex forgets back" with mindless nitro spam in every level
I think you really should retire as a modder only because the industry needs such talented and creative people as you. With all that work you've shown it'd be shame if your talent wouldn't be used in a game studio for, say, a new Crash game or something heavily inspired by it.

All it needs now is my logo scatter around and we have our new sonic death trap Orbot: shouldn't we test the defense system first. I hear that the previous mad scientist got defeated by another bipedal animal who wasn't even super powered. Eggman: Nonsense! It most like the old mad scientist incompetency was at fault. Honestly their just give the "mad scientist" title to anyone these days.

I'm impressed, I didn't expected to see such level of modding. It works quite well on real hardware. It makes me wonder if it'd be possible to make a Spyro mod (using i.e. Spyro from Spyro 1 in Crash 2 levels and viceversa). I know insomniac games used the naughty dog engine in the Ps1/2 era.
I don't think Insomniac used Naughty Dog's engine for the Spyro games. ND used their own modified version of Lisp while Insomniac made Spyro (at least Spyro 1) in Assembly and C. Could be wrong though.
@@alicev1500 I always knew that Spyro used the same engine as Crash. As also R&C used the same J&D engine (I think I readed that in some magazine at the time). Never re-checked it online though, I'll verify.

Not bad! But I would say there’s room for improvement. I personally think it would look a little better if you used models from Sonic R instead of Genesis sprites because then it would mesh better with the 3D models of Crash.

note that this is primarily 2D so much easier to port and work with, making 3D based levels for this engine im sure is a whole another beast
Plus it'll be sprite-based as custom models still can't be used, so it also needs 3D sprites
