I use notebook paper and a pencil. I erase and update on one piece of paper until it's worn out.
I use several clipboards as needed. One for the household and more for any projects. Each project gets its own clipboard. All the clipboards are different colors.
On the first page of my household clipboard, I list priorities at the top, errands on the left, household chores on the right and future priorities at the bottom.
On the second page of my household clipboard, I list my annual budget. I use categories, such as property tax, utilities, vehicle and groceries. This enables me to easily adjust expenses, because they change throughout the year.
Additional pages are random or miscellaneous subjects or minor projects. As previously stated, major projects get their own clipboard.

I also prioritize my more thorough housework on an annual calendar. This includes cleaning and organizing closets, bureaus, kitchen cupboards, washing windows, etc.
I complete outdoor projects during the summer and indoor projects during the winter. I allow one large project per month. In other words, I allow myself an entire month to complete one project. In this way, everything is accomplished at least once a year.
If I don't feel the need to do certain projects, I take a month off. If I want to do more within a month, I do. I'm free to make new decisions or do nothing. This is just a general routine that I keep in mind for the sake of sanity.
Most of the time, I rarely need to re-organize, because I never make a mess in the first place. I like to pick up as I go by - so very few things are astray.
I like to sweep or do dishes on a daily basis. For sweeping, try a swivel sweeper. For dusting, try a long-handled magnetic wand.

Nathaniel, this is such a powerful piece. It was my 22nd birthday today, but I was feeling so lost and upset. I was dreading to go to work daily even though I’m in a rewarding field I’m passionate about. No matter how hard I try, I can never separate my self worth from my job because it’s something I take so much pride in. However, you reminded me of something. The “why” that I have long forgotten. And I think it has sparked a new strength to keep me going, push boundaries and get back up after making mistakes.
It is so inspiring, to see the amount of thought and sensitivity you put into the videos. It makes me want to do better. Thank you. I hope that you keep doing what you do.

I loved the analogy of the computer in this video and I really needed this. As someone who was purely focused on maximizing productivity, I didn't realize just how often I'm overloading my ram. I have a schedule to tell me exactly what to do for my working hours, but whenever I'm alone not working, my mind is just confused and I start to get anxious, I never realized why, but now I know: it's because I never offload my ram at the end of each day. I always am doing something, but never slowing down and let the little thoughts that come up go, and eventually they pile up in the ram and makes me anxious.
I will definitely be more intentional about my thoughts and organize them by journaling in the future, thanks for this video!

As a high school student, there is so much pressure to have everything figured out, and I really needed something to motivate me, and show me how much better my life can be if I'm more organized. Nathaniel your videos are so beautifully made. The aesthetical beauty is really helping to deliver a deep message. I love that you put so much work into a 10 minutes video, it really shows how much time you work on them (maybe because I'm a youtuber too so I know 🙄) so when I see a new one I wait to have a quiet moment to watch it because I really focus my attention on every second of it.
That's enough with compliments, I actually commented because I wanted to ask a genuine question. In this video you touched a topic I've been thinking about for years and years. I have a very active mind and too many thoughts. I tried a few times in my life to write down my thoughts, but every time I have the same problems: they are way too many than what my conscious mind can process and my hand can write. Simply too many and it's hard to order them in a hierarchy in my mind. Even when I find a hierarchy, it would take me one or two hours every day if not more to write them down and I don't think that's an efficient way of living and working. How do you solve this problem?

Can absolutely vouch for journaling helping anxiety. I started journaling when I got some bad medical news a few years ago (nothing life threatening, thank god, but potentially life altering over the long term). When I got home that day I had a new email from my penpal. I wrote back, throwing in the news. I noticed how immediately better I felt, just getting the news, and the anxiety around it, out of my head and somewhere else, and went out to buy a journal that same day

The thing that I constantly kept thinking as I watch this on and on is how can we develop a community or group to share ideas for constructive criticism? How can we pass the point of sharing these ideas with friends who are awesome but also totally bias ? And how can we trust people when the ideas are only in the making and you’re afraid they could be stolen . I sometimes don’t share my ideas because I’m afraid this will happen. thank you again!

I find that being bored is a great way of getting ideas, because when all the stimuli are removed, you are just left with your thoughts 'connecting the dots' as Nathaniel put it. I've been practicing not using headphones when going for walks, for example. For me music tends to distract from my thoughts and I think that's why showers are so great for thinking - it's a challenge to distract yourself with a screen, so you get one-on-one time with yourself.

I'm following your channel quite a while now. Usually I don't comment much on yt, but I think you have deserved a few good words. The option to watch your content in 4k is awesome, because your videos are usually esthetically pleasing. The idea to write down my thoughts asap is a concept which helped me in very busy and overwhelming situations. I bought whiteboards for my appartment to have a quick access to a big canvas for ideas and later on they will be processed when i see them again all day every day. I really love your work and how your quality in general is far above average. It's motivating and i think it has a positive impact on society. Keep it up!

Damn that was such a great video. You have this way of shifting perspectives in a simplistic way that makes me think, “What the heck have I been doing with my life if not that? That is the way I should be living.” So thank you Nathan. I always have a lot of notes to take from your talks

Wow Nathaniel this is amazing. Seeing your growth as a creator has been honestly inspiring and refreshing. Your topics have always being interesting because of the honesty and willingness to be vulnerable in sharing, but overtime it has grown from just sharing your journey of mental clarity, to providing very powerful, helpful, and actionable insights based on your experience. This is not an easy topic, there are many who just skim the surface with these ideas because it’s really hard, but your consistency, persistence, and focus on the pursuit of mental clarity has really enabled you to understand yourself and cut through the noise and BS, and you’ve gotten so good that you’re helping others (me) with not just sharing your personal journey and helping us realize we’re not alone, but now giving us realistic tools you’ve used that we can use.
Bravo dude 👏👏👏 (also I see you flexing your AE skills good job 👍)

@Walter Clements spot on !!!!! I've been a minimalist for a couple of years now. It's soothing, but it's an ongoing process. It's like keeping inventory on your life to not let clutter and distractions back in. It's a job worth working👍. Stay Blessed 💘.

    Hi Nathaniel,
I love this video and it relates a lot to things that I have been thinking about.
However I would present you with a question. "What is your definition of mental clarity?". One can argue that constantly asking the question "why" complicates your life. This is because there not might always be an answer as to why things happen. Leaving the mind confused and constantly in a chase for meaning.
Mental Clarity can also be defined as clearing your mind of these thoughts as is done through meditation.
Curious of your thoughts about this

Nathaniel, I can't even remember how I found you...but I'm so glad I did! Your last video came at a crucial time in my life when I needed a nudge in the right direction. For the past 5 years I've been "trying" to build a Network Marketing Business. We are encouraged to do a good bit of "Personal Development" reading so I have all these cool tools concerning setting goals, making positive habits, etc. Your last video added Environment and Mindset. AHA! You touch on Environment in this video, too. For me...Environment has to be the foundation of that pyramid. So, I found a 30 day Cleaning Schedule. I even shared it with my Team and several people who were obviously feeling they were in the same boat with me have joined. What I've found is that in being consistent in my 30 Day Clean has benefited my mindset and helped me be more positive about my abilities. Of course, having a clean kitchen...from top to bottom...is also very helpful when it comes to the Wife-Mom hat I wear. I'm excited about getting my house in order...which translates into getting excited about being able to set goals for my business and then actually stick to them...BECAUSE I am being consistent and reaching goals in bringing order to my environment! It dawned on me that I've been lying to myself saying I have no discipline or the ability to be consistent. Those are in me! I just had to find them! With this video, it seems you were reading my mind. This is exactly what I needed to hear at this stage. Thank you for all the hard work and dedication you express toward us through your videos. I anxiously await your next works and I'll be looking back to past videos, as well. Be blessed, my friend, in all to which you set your heart to do. I pray you clarity, courage and creativity.

Actually a chain of changes started happening in my life two years ago my opinions, my thoughts and my views had changed alot I feel like I am a new person I became more open minded and more accepting for the people the way they are not the way I want them to and recently I have been thinking constantly what I want in my life and what to do in order to achieve that and my thoughts are really messy and random and I don't know what to do but your videos really helped me alot and you are a real source of inspiration so I hope you keep uploading videos that we enjoy and get benefits from them at the same time 💚💚😊😊

I started running when I was about 15 years old. I always thought the best thing about running was to be able to think. I never learned this from an outside source, after years of running I just realized I get ideas while running. Somehow the answers just come to things I wasn't even thinking about. I think it is something you have to experience yourself to understand what it means. Surprisingly, exercising has been the best solution to my mental problems, although I started it to solve my physical problems.

Dear Nathaniel, It is difficult to be a young grown-up in the 21st century. All those stereotypes about how useless we are told by older people who think they know the ultimate truth. I can hardly express my gratitude for your work here, pal. You represent the new era of humanity and inspire others to wake and stand up for a better world.
My feedback: video is very good though I think it lacks some kind of vivid positivity. Of course, all your videos shouldn´t be jolly but sometimes a little pinch of joy would be nice.
