      He said he skipped college, so that's probably one reason. To me it means he has had time to reflect and figure out what he wanted out of life. Time spent alone enables people to grow. I have seen this in myself. Whenever I spend time reflecting and reducing input, I become more mature.

    *How to have a North Star*:
    - ask “where do I want to be 10 years from now?” in both personal and work dimensions
    - have an important support system
    - get to know yourself more:
    * inputs: listen, read, talk, experiment
    * reflection: turn stimulus down and look inwards. Meditation, journaling, time alone. Take time to piece things together. “What did you do as a little kid before you applied pressure/expectations” “what can I NOT live without?”
    - honour the KID IN YOU
    Hope this helps anyone :)

    TL DR SUMMARY
    -"Design : do or plan something with a specific purpose or action in mind."
    We should design our own lifestyle, focusing on what matters to us.
    -Lifestyle design is a messy process, our priorities and dreams change constantly. We're learning as we go.
    -Ask "where do I want to be in 10 years, personally and professionally?"
    Tools to know yourself better :
    -Input : learning, opening new doors, experimenting.
    -Reflection : Meditation, journalling, connect dots together.
    -Ask :"What can I not live without?" (Expressing myself? Traveling?)
    -It's not an easy process, so treating things like experiments or games help to reduce the pressure of it.

    I'm someone that is addicted to beating myself down, I get to points where I'm happy and feel as if I have everything figured out, thoughts are clear, confident, life feels easier then bam one day everything goes down and then the obsession of beating myself down comes back and it's as if I forgot every tool, like someone training for a fight for months then during the fight completely forget how to defend. Also I'm a really good cheerleader, my priority is all messed up, it's as if I care for others more than myself its affected my negatively.

    This has been on my mind lately and I agree with the point you made about it not being possible to learn everything from others. Experimenting is soo crucial and will get anyone far in their journey. When I’m in doubt with where I wanna go, that’s one thing I constantly remind myself of. To just keep experimenting and see what feels right, and I definitely have come a long way in terms of knowing what I want and where I want to be. Awesome video as always!

    the '' treating the things you do like little games'' advise is so good. I found myself putting unnesessary presure on thing just because in my head i was like "maybe this is my passion and i should be good at it" and now since i started having that playful mindset i tend to enjoy my hobbies a lot more. The truth is that our inner child is always influencing us in some way and i think by putting preasureon things makes that inner child quiet o repressed. There are a lot of skilled filmmakers on RUclips who try to showcase their skill, but when they try to add a verbal narrative they don't take advantage of the full potential that is there to have a really beautiful visual AND a meaningful audio accent. I click off so quickly when I realize I am accidentally watching just another general video with beautiful drone shots and reused clips but is discussing a broad topic in very simple and expected language, and doesn't add any new information or analyses for me to brew on. I feel like your viewers get to know who YOU are a little more in each video as you share personal and specific anecdotes and observations. I really enjoy your analyses and ideas, thank you for sharing so genuinely!

    I've been really getting into photography and filmmaking lately, got a camera last February, am following a course now and i've found that not a day has passed where i've been bored with it. I always thought it was a bit of a futureless hobby but over time I found out nothing is worth your time if you're not enjoying the process, like you said. I'm still not sure how I wanna move my way around it, but I love "open" storytelling: making art of any form that gives a lot of space to the consumer to fill it in with their own meaning, however with some form of guidance. It also sounds very abstract, I know. But the only way to find out is by action, and it's very nice and somewhat comforting to see someone in a similar position in life. You've definitely given me inspiration to think about :)

    I really like what you said about treating everything as small experiments. There's a lot of pressure to have life figured out. You know, fear can be paralyzing if you let it consume you. I learned to focus on what is in my control in every present moment. Doing my best always and deciding from a place of love, positivity and joy instead of fear. It's truly not a one-time deal. Everything and everyone is continually evolving. I'm with you, in spirit, my friend, in our search of mental clarity.

      @@chandraveersaran3752 I think I agree with you. I don't really want to believe that it is true but you are correct about watching for the video quality. I was watching lots of these types of videos but stopped as despite the great quality and editing I felt that they weren't really telling me anything. Since I've stopped watching them (this is the first for about a month) I am much more content with my life and I feel happier. The main reason why I stopped watching was when Matt D'avella admitted that he suffers from anxiety still. I think he did the right thing by admitting that but it sort of felt like he had let me down, if that makes sense?

      I think if one really wishes to learn something life changing go read books. There are tons of wonderful books out there. But, people won't do that because its tough. They want to fool themselves with these 10 minute videos where they don't have to actually do anything. And I empathize with them, as I did the same thing once.
      The quicker you realize improving yourself is tough, the quicker you would start attempting it the right way.

    The one thing I don’t get from these type of videos is the fact that mediocrity is a ‘bad’ thing. We can’t all be extraordinary. Sometimes it’s okay to be mediocre at one thing and extraordinary at another. Viewing life as mediocre is different than having a mediocre job but still being happy

    • @TheSoccerGardenSkill
      @TheSoccerGardenSkill 5 лет назад +8

      It takes very little effort to be mediocre, hence the point that somehow we can all improve ourselves and are destined for things we used to dream of if we make that choice. I think it’s something that all human beings should atleast try to do👍

    • @mdiazrueda95
      @mdiazrueda95 5 лет назад +5

      I understand what you're saying, but being mediocre, by definition, is being so regular to the point where it's bad. There's nothing wrong with not being extraordinary, you're totally right. Maybe we should be replacing the word "mediocre" to something else? Maybe the word we're looking for is ordinary.

    • @r10warrior

      I think he meant what *you* would individually see as mediocre for your life, not a general statement for all people. For example, me working as an accountant would be a mediocre life compared to what I actually want however, for some people becoming an accountant would be their dream.
      SO BASICALLY, make sure you are going after your actual dream rather than someone else's.

    • @sheepingly15

      r10warrior exactly. I had a convo with someone a while ago and she said she is fine with being comfortable. Her version of that is working a job and not caring about being promoted, fine with not having many friends or going out more than once a month or two. She’s fine with being by herself not talking to anyone 80% of the time. I couldn’t believe anyone / she is ok with being alone and not experiencing anything.

    Damn, that's a great way of looking at things. I've been living like this for a while now, and this wording expresses the essense in the most accurate way. The things you want to accomplish in life may look so distant now, almost impossible. But if you do something, even the smallest effort, on a daily basis, one day all those things will become possible.
