- Capone-N-Noreaga (also known as C-N-N) Or simply Capone and Nore/N.O.R.E Queens New York, active since 1995
Queens since the beginning of hip hop has been a hub for rap talent. From Run DMC, Kool G rap, LL Col J, Mobb Deep and of course Capone n Noreaga. They were supposed to be next in line from Queens, and New York as a whole to rejuvenate New York’s gangster rap sound, with the potential to polish their style and crossover successfully into the mainstream. Their debut album “The War Report was important to east coast hip hop, as it front lined the tensions going on at the time between East and West coast rappers, and it came in a time the Bad Boy era was running the radio with their shiny suit, but mafioso style, equipped with smooth rnb hooks that became a secret weapon in hip hop, adopted by rap artist to this day. They were gritty, ready for rap war, and just on time to rep NY, which all helped Capone n Noreaga blow up into pre rap stardom. Once hailed as next up from New York, with all the right backing initially in Mobb Deep, Nas, Tragedy kadafi and of course their skill, as a group for these reasons they ended up missing the mark. What happened? CAPONE n NOREAGA Could've Been Queens Best Duo! Stunted Growth Music

Would CNN have blown up if Capone was around more early on? Would you trade Nore's solo success for CNN to blow up?
Can you do Stunted Growth on Lords of the Underground?
I have to say no. Even though Capone was good, NORE always stood out on the tracks on that album. His flow and delivery was very unique. Not much of a lyricist though. Never been his forte. I felt like it would have been the same way it is now. Capone didn't take it seriously. But I do agree with Capone getting mad at NORE at the time. Signing with Jay Z was a bad move. Not at that time. That wasn't a good time to do that. In all, I would have loved CNN to have reached the same level as Mobb Deep but it was Capone who messed it up
yo bro how u going to disrespect ccn pt 2 album lol that shit is another classic under their belt
No, they couldn't have been Queens best duo they weren't better than Mobb Deep period! And Tragedy wrote some of Nore's rhymes on the War Report so Kill that Noise they could have been Queen's best duo smh. And We won't even count Run Dmc as a duo since Jam Master Jay was such an intricate part of the group.
@@GRINDETHIKSMIXTAPESHOW it was. That was a great follow up. Remember just buying it at the record store back then and ripping the plastic off of it. Not better than the first album but damn good nevertheless. The good old days of buying CDs are erecord store and Best Buy
Their album war report is a 10/10 classic!
Nore never rapped like that again
Coming from north queens seeing them come up in the 90s was beautiful but that fall off is real. They should’ve been larger. Very sad
CNN live on live long love that song
track 6 Iraq stay on repeat

Mob Deep is the undisputed best duo out of Queens #RIPProdigy

The War Report is a classic. Loved The Reunion album too
War Report was really just NORE first solo project
It’s night and day how different Nore is now lol friendliest dude in hip hop
Comes across as super corny sometimes
So excited to see my guys on here! The War Report has to be one of THE best rap albums of all time, hands down. Soundtrack to my late teens.
I love the War Report and The Reunion was also nice. But DUO? Mobb Deep, hands down.
EXACTLY n I luv CNN
Actual fact!
exactly M O B B D E E P
Nore and Capone was dope. But they would never be the best duo out of Queens long as the MOBB was around
Facts. I don't think they fuck with organized konfusion, run dmc, or tribe either. Capone isn't that strong of an mc.

thier song, "Stick You" is a banger for sure!!!!!!!

yo thats the second time a nigga did that - we gone get him yooo - its raining he aint gone expect it
Tragedy Was Better Than Both These Guys But Never Got Lucky Like Them
Intelligent Hoodlum???

Should have become a trio when Capone got out of jail. CTN.

One of my favorite groups of all time. Their music never gets old🔥🔥
Nore has carved his own lane for so long that ppl forget how raw of an emcee he was. Those demos that he did with Tragedy are so raw. Nore got his bread and lane paved out..music took the back seat, as it deservedly should
Nore was never a raw MC 😂😂😂 stop the 🧢
The War Report and The Reunion are certified classics.
Facts 💯
No it wasn't!
@@doccentralstation2592 I named two dummy. Learn how to write.
@@doccentralstation2592 War Report maybe, but the Reunion? Nah
First of, The War Report is one of the greatest debut albums ever in hip hop. I dont know if East Coast hip hop would have strive at that point if this album never existed. Second, this episode was great. You really mastered your content. To a point, it's near flawless now. Lastly, I felt that would have never been bigger than Mobb Deep. Look at what they did in 1999. Murda Musik was huge at the time, with It's Mine and Quiet Storm killing it.
Respect.....respect....you nailed it chief......"The War Report " did solidified us on the East as holdin' it down. It was them, Black Rob, Big L, Nas, Organize Konfusion, Mobb Deep, Jeru The Damaja, & A Tribe Called Quest......
@@khingofswordz43 brother, I was there too. I'm from Jerse. Right over the water. That album was definitely bumping here. I remember going to get a haircut at a barbershop downtown Newark back then and they played that entire album at the shop. Everybody was quoting the lyrics in there. Like all the barbers. That album is bonafide classic hands down. It solidified East Coast hip hop in a great way at the time. All of those MCs you ever mentioned are the backbone of that era's hip hop. That was such a great time. No wonder people can't let it go.

Back when Clue was on top of the mixtape game...he had the songs " LA LA" , " Stick U ", and "T.O. N.Y." , over 6 months before C.N.N . dropped " The War Report"...me and my best friend Juno were blasting their shit in our spot and in our cars...but my favorite song was " Closer" in which they had a couple of Hood singer dudes thug out some lines from " A Little Bit of Love" by New Edition...it proved that they had creativity and even though they got compared to Mobb Deep...they had their own distinctive sound...they were both hot heads but Noreaga was some what business minded and focused on making the group's brand successful...the whole " Thugged Out Entertainment " movement he carried it on his back as a solo artist...even though he had his ups and downs with Capone...he used his success to keep the group relevant and from Reggaeton to acting and the Drink Champs podcast blowing up...He remained loyal!
I've been a fan of C-N-N since the beginning of their careers! They were the next Mobb Deep! Now NORE killing int on Drink Champs and Capone is one of the slept on MCs from Queensbridge! I got all their albums! Classics!
CNN was never better than Mobb Deep.
To be honest they still one of best duos period
CAP
CNN’s War Report and the Reunion are two of my favorite albums
Thank you for eloquently discussing this stunted growth. It’s clearly Capone’s fault for the down fall of CNN. I knew from the beginning that as a Santiago, NORE was destined to be great…
Its Capone getting locked up that made a whole setback
That TONY was my anthem for that summer, out in Miami acting crazy. Lol crazy times
That Melvin Flynt album was fire from start to finish
Capone n Noriega a Haitian and Puerto Rican phenomenal duo.
Capone is not Haitian and Nore's mother is Black.
@@kks086 yes he is

We always respected Pone as a lyricist I just think hiphop came second to the streets for him and in a fast paced artist heavy industry work ethic and consistency r 🗝️ to success similar to the streets
The War Report eventually went GOLD tho.
Facts 💯
Beatnuts don't get enough respect out of Queens. Beatnuts had alot of fire albums
But rapping wise, neither Psych Les or Juju were much to write home about.
N.O.R.E. till this day Is my favorite album
War Report is in my top 10 of all time.
I always look for my notifications every Wednesday and Saturday for this page. I rock with this page heavy.
CNN were beasts, but they weren’t going to exceed Mobb Deep. Just too many bangers and classics from those 2 dudes. War Report was a straight classic. Bought that joint 3x.
Along with LostBoyz, this was DEFINITELY on my list for highly anticipated groups who I wanted to see on this feature.
M.O.P. and Camp Lo gotta be up there soon.
Camp lo for sure
That music make me.hi remix with DPG
Nore is one of the top podcasters in the world. He figured it out!
I still listen to war report to this day
Can’t even sit at the table with Mobb deep… never had a chance
Nore cool, he heald it down when capone was gone, Capone is a real lyrical genius, I had all they demo back in the 90's. Fire!
Great video. Much success to you and your channel.
A classic album
War Report is an Album I love tremendously n listened it like crazy..
“Because of Capone’s steady prison diet” 💀
You’re a funny dude lol
I would 💜 to see you do Cormega next!!!! I truly believe that his prime would have been bigger if not equivalent to Nas... Nature is dope BUT NAS/MEGA is Illmega!!!
Honorable mentions: Nine, Mad Lion, Jeru Da Damaja, Lady of Rage, Special Ed, Spice 1, The Outlawz (after Pac), Jody Breeze, Gorilla Zoe, Kool G Rap etc
Steve stout made a bug mistake choosing nature over cormega.
That was a fire episode of stunted growth. I Still Rock with CNN all day. War Report was a great album. Subscribed. Peace from CT.

War report was on the few albums I bought twice .
Got the CD in the car , stays on rotation
DJ vendetta and DJ fight for NY put me on to them and I wasn’t disappointed
Mobb Deep is queens best duo.
album was one of my favorites,
old enough now to see the problem with gangsta rap, however.
The fact that they still have their niche on global scale is success in itself since they can still tour around the world with just their classic shit alone.
They dropped the war report. That's good enough for me.

Can’t be the best Queens duo with the Mobb still active lol
But much respect, especially to Nore. He still had a decent run by himself.

TBH, I feared NORE back in the day because I believed his raps….
Lmao.. NORE was defiently about that action back in the day lol.
You ain’t lying, we from the same hood, and he used to fear me before he got locked up
They shoulda had more longevity but never would've or could've been better than Mobb Deep
PLEASE DO ONE ON AR-AB n DARK LO (OBH). Mainly AR-AB because he was the one with Cassidy and had a real shot at making it at one point. In that documentary please mention Dark Lo and the potential he had.
Facts 💯
I disagree with this video opinions but there is no negative tone here. Love the breakdown and appreciate this editing. How about doing Tragedy next with the album "Against All Odds" which took years and promo with big pun, canibus, rza and more on the promo but never came out on the album which I personally had on preorder at where house music in LA for over two years which eventually was given to me by blockbuster music which took over and alerted to when it came out and handed off
The Reunion is a classic.
I liked them
No they couldn't. Nore rocked the same whack flow for a long time.
Should do Shyheim next
I didn't even know they dropped an album in 2015. The mid to late 2010s was a wild time because a lot of the older rappers dropped projects but didn't get their due attention.
Do Jodeci, please you gotta do Jodeci
Not while P from Mobb Deep was living they were never gonna be better than the Duns
Capone and Tragedy lyrically carried Nore on The War Report + the production is top-notch, but Nore has a very outgoing personality that outshines his lyrics (in my opinion). Together, CNN are better than solo but I have love and respect for CNN...
Nore always had 🌟Quality ever since he emerged on the rap scene.. he got a hilarious personality combined w/ his undeniable street credibility were certified elements to successes but street politics and label politics r ultimately what derailed his career from flourishing
I fw Drink Champs but it’s like ever since that Kanye interview the show feel different

Here is a fun fact, biggie at one point wanted capone to join jr mafia,he didn't like nore as a mc
That's right... I remember Big saying that in an interview if I'm not mistaken
Neither nore nor Capone were nicer than prodigy. Shit I think even havoc was nicer on the mic than those 2, but to top it off Havoc also produced. CNN would of never been nicer than mobb deep.
Queensbridge Stand Up 💪🏾!!
One of my favorite Nu-Metal groups, Drop Logic, is a tragic example of stunted growth, and being highly obscure. They only released one (really good) album called Fear & Sunlight, and did the infamous intro to the early 2000s English dub of Initial D. I wish they'd made more music, since what they had was really good. Its impossible to find more info on them however.
What Nu-metal got to do Capone and Nore
@@TheIcpfan23 it dont got shit to do with it but it was a band that never got spotlight
@@TheIcpfan23 He's just sharing his opinion. Chill.
One of the only thing i can say from seeing docs and researching that DMX was going to blow just needed a spot to slide in. He was doing all that in the late 80s early 90s. That’s why no one questions his street credit or battle raps when he came in the mid 90s. In drink champs NORE explains at times how dmx was doing his thing before. But what helped dmx was all the gangsta rap cause the labels placed him into that category since he was a street dude. Diddy passed on dmx and regretted it. But dmx loved nore. Both street guys, rappers, etc. I would have loved to see songs from both collabing
Do leaders of the new school next 🫡🙏🏾👏🏾
No disrespect, MobbDeep!!!
