- DMX at one point was the best Rap Artist in the game. Something he didn't envision himself being as a young child in Yonkers New York. By the late 90s, early 2000 DMX finally got his opportunity on the big stage. With endorsements from Jay-z, LL Cool J, Ready Ron, Big Pun, and more, he ascended to the top faster and more consistently than anyone before him. 5 straight #1 albums that all went platinum or multi. He could've been the best ever! But the other side of him was struggling with demons up until recently he hasn't been able to shake. Little too late. As a musician and actor, the fans just aren't paying attention to his catalog anymore. It's been this way since 2011. The G.O.A.T That Never Became That! DMX Stunted Growth. I've listened to x for 20 years. Almost daily. As much as I agree with your points about he could have reached those levels of success if drugs addiction weren't involved, the industry today would not have allowed him to succeed any further becuase all x did was expose the satanic dominated industry and the nasty things they force rappers to do. That being said, even if drugs weren't involved. He would be in the same place. The industry would destroy his image like they did
@@meti9230 quit the conspiracy theories. The industry wasn't a bed of roses back then either. The addictions were central to his downfall then and would be today but quicker simply because each and every scrape would have been trending on social media before he came down from the high that fuelled it. Without the addictions he could have used social media very well to blow today even though the model, fandom & consumer tastes are in a different place today. The industry didn't give him the drug habit, impregnate the 9 women, mess up his child support situation, mess up his tax situation, create all those situations that ruined the image of talented artist with potential to be the greatest ever to do it. Today that downfall wouldn't take the decade it did, he'd be done in 18 months.

As long as he kept dropping bangers, no one cared what he did. he was smoking rock in the studio while he was recording albums and no one said anything because it was fire. Honestly the industry did him dirty. And they're still doing it today.

DMX Serouisly got me through High School!!! My favorite rapper. I felt him. He is self destructive and hit a lot and missed a lot but he is still my favorite.

The crazy thing is, X has enough of a legacy that you can still call him a GOAT. He has the classic albums, hit records, the respect of his peers and his rivals. X has done too much in his career to be hit with the stunted growth label. Could he have been even bigger? Absolutely. Did his personal demons stunt his growth? For sure. But unlike a lot of rappers who never reach their potential. X came out of the gate as a legend and for several years he kept giving you his all. By the time his fall off came, he'd already done more than many MCs that are labelled as greats.

Unquestionably a legend. Him being double platinum in the same year is G.o.a.t status. I feel like he was 1 or 2 classic albums away from being a certified Goat. His legal issues and addiction did hinder him a lot. On the Goat convo the Jay-Z's and Nas's were able to surpass X because their careers went on further and they still dropped records/albums that ppl fxck with.

I remember X talking about being blessed with a curse and not long ago he revealed what he meant by that. This older dude he was running with inspired him to rap, which would be the blessing, his gift. On the other side he introduced him to crack in a very shady way which would be the curse. Place yourself in his position, left by his dad, his mom and then the only person you looked up to betrays you like that, that’s really hard to take. X is a real inspiration for everyone out there struggling, because he’s been through it all.

In many eyes DMX is the goat 🐐 we all know what stunted him I’m not going to speak on it but I will say once he got into movies he realized he could get money easier and faster by acting so the quality of his music did go down a notch more radio friendly
