- Welcome to Steam Sequence, a series where I attempt to play and review as many Steam games in alphabetical order as possible to sort the Trash from the Treasure.
This means that I'm playing through all the terrible games so that you don't have to.
Please enjoy my suffering.
How I Became a Sudoku Master In 1 Day | 1 Rule Sudoku Game Review
Steam Dumpster Diving
This episode features: 1 Rule Sudoku

In case you're wondering, Steam organizes games starting with punctuation first, then numbers, and then the actual alphabet. It may be some time before I reach the letter "A" on my journey!

the fact that all the puzzles have one right solution even if the grid is almost empty is truly making this game impossible.
The one right solution approach compared to checking the final solution is correct was an unpleasant surprise.
@@Graeldon They somehow messed up making a competent Sudoku game, I didn't think that was even possible
@@shinyagumon7015 Welcome to the channel - time to lower your expectations of games haha
@@Graeldon Ive been here for a while I know what to expect😂
I mean, they weren’t lying when they said impossible lol
The one thing the game did right
Something about the vibes at the start of the video, general pleasant tone and music, had me bust a gut laughing when you pivoted to say it was one of the worst games you've played. XD
I'm glad that someone enjoys my sense of humor!
When you first started asking us what we thought this barely-a-game costs, my mind immediately thought, "probably about $5, or $6½ Canadian". Nailed it.
And yeah, not only does this barebones thing have the audacity to cost anything at all to play, but it's ludicrous that it can give you puzzles with very few starting numbers and expect you to "guess" which of the multitudes of solutions the game wants you to find. Also, the fact that it was consuming so much CPU power and opened Edge is very sus.
At least the sneak preview for the next game looks like it'll be a lot more interesting, with much more polish. (Insert Polish flag colors here. :P)
Finally, the game from the April fools joke
Cant wait till you reach the $1000 steam game.
My wallet is okay with waiting
the what
@@Graeldon I'm pretty sure you can skip these obvious scam games
@@silkdust8069 I'm still considering what to do about those stupidly expensive games. I may end up covering them, but via research rather than purchasing
@@Graeldon I heavily encourage you to not purchase them since the whole staretgy is if even one person buys them then that's a profit. As for research I'm not sure how it would be possible since for most of them there's no point of reference beside the steam banner and trailers n screenshots. Guess we'll just have to find out when we get there I suppose
As soon as cost was brought up, I thought the game would have been around $10 (U.S.). Funny that I was about 5 dollars off! Congrats 1 Rule Sudoku Master!
Ngl with that title I expected single variant puzzles. Really makes me want to go do some puzzles off of Logic Masters Germany, or, far more likely, just watch Cracking the Cryptic lol
Your expectations were far too high haha
Lol when he said "watching a 10 minute video shout sudoku" I thought about the hours and hours I've spent watching CTC videos.
Your point about it taking a quadrillion years to solve every sudoku made me wonder - what if we decentralized the solving? What if there was an online game where every player was given a different sudoku to solve and everybody completed as many as they could? How many people would it take to solve every sudoku in a timely manner? Just a fun thought experiment.
It’d be better for computers to solve this than humans.
@@flyingpiggy1475 but it wouldn’t be nearly as FUN! :3
@@Wyattporter true, as I love human work
Well, taking about 1.27 quadrillion years and dividing it by about 8.11 billion people (the population of Earth), you get about 157 thousand years per person.
at that point just print a sudoku sheet and play it with a pencil
Ah but then you miss the challenge of trying to beat both Sudoku AND terrible game design at the same time
If you want to be sudoku expert, do the sudokus featured in youtube channel 'cracking the cryptic'. Old video specifically, they are mostly classic sudokus.
As for the current sudoku... Is too bonkers.
Cracking the Cryptic makes great content
@@GraeldonCracking the Cryptic mention! was wondering how Simon from CtC would fare playing this game, his mind would probably implode
🤣🤣
This probably being malware definitely is grounds to report and refund. Hope you did both!
Shockingly enough, I was recommended this vid out of nowhere. After binging the rest of your vids, O have to say you’re insane and I love it. Pretty weird how it was this that was pushed, not the most popular vids.
Can’t wait for 14 minesweeper variants, I really love that dev’s work.
Welcome to the channel, I'm glad you've enjoyed following my journey so far!
I started to appreciate any game developer that make their games free for no reason.
Thanks for all your hard work scraping the bottom of the barrel for us! I've been a bit distracted lately, so now I'm off to watch the backlog! ;;;>.
Enjoy! I'm really proud of the content we've released so far this year!
Whoa, that next game actually looks like a video game.
Im a self-titled sudoku-autistic (diagnosed, not used as an insult/whatever)
My most hated part of doing sudoku is trying to hold numbers. Holding numbers being trying to remember that x square could have a 3, 6, 2, 7 or 8 for all i know, even if im almost completely done overall. Whats worse is holding numbers in two adjacent boxes. Both boxes have 3 missing numbers, the boxes around have the worst set up for figuring out the placements of these numbers.
I have several sudoku books and FAR TOO MANY pages have been abandoned due to this issue.
Skill issue? Maybe, but when theres not a single 1, 5 OR 8 on the entire board and theyre the ONLY numbers im missing? I pray that the next one is more sparing. Man. Sudoku is brutal...
... its been a while since i picked up one of them...
i adore sudoku, but good Christ this sounds like torture looooool.
very entertaining video though!
Weird. I actually watched a vid of yours a long time ago and YT hasn't suggested you for a long time to me, I subscribed then. Thought I rang the bell, turned out I hadn't. Weird.
Y'know, i think I'd rather have a 7 year old make me a sudoku grid with chalk on pavement than play this.
Sounds more fun tbh
The next game looks pretty cool!
edit: wrong game referenced!
The art style is wonderful, and lulls you into a false sense of security
I wonder if going with a larger grid would give you more numbers on Impossible, therefore making it "easier" to figure out the solution.
It does, I think I saw a max of 10 numbers on the grid. Perhaps the dev never expected someone to attempt Impossible difficulty 4x4 grids.
Then again, maybe they never expected anyone to play the game
@@Graeldon 10 is still not enough for a normal sudoku grid. 17 or more squares must be filled for a unique solution.
@@R_violi oof. Well, glad I didn't do the 9x9 then, would've been even more of a headache
The amount of effort you had to take to make Sudoku interesting,,,
The question is, did we succeed?
It actually *can* be really interesting, if you add additional rules, like cages, thermometers, arrows etc etc
And if you add two very charismatic middle-aged british gentlemen solving them, you have a recipe for around 500k subscriber youtube channel
@@ShaggyDemiurge Cracking the Cryptic is great! And I agree, Sudoku (and similar puzzles/variants) can be great, when done right. This ain't it.
I wonder if the Impossible puzzles with 9x9 grid have the same problem. I've just thought, that maybe they made the number of revealed squares depend on the total number of squares in some non-linear way (and didn't noticed this, because who needs testing). So maaaybe (although I'm giving them too much benefit of a doubt) 9x9 impossible is more solvable than 4x4 impossible. But no need to check for this, as you will need to run another antivirus scan then...
So, was viruses found?
Thankfully, no. Or not that I've found yet anyway.
Bank account hasn't been hacked so I think we're good
While $5 might be a bit much for this, I don’t think I’d complain about the price if it was $1,
Not because I would get $1 of value out of it personally, but like,
well,
I don’t think I’d call *any* experience that someone might enjoy, “overpriced” if being sold for $1 .
Maybe not even $1.50 .
So...
Idk, I don’t find “this was almost $5” to be shocking or anything. I mean, by all means, I support your decision to get the refund!
But, I also don’t really think the developer did anything *wrong* for trying to sell it for almost $5 (at least, provided that any buyers know they could refund it).
Nothing beats a evening of sudoku.....
What’s it doing on Microsoft Edge?
I'm surprised the game had functioning achievements with how barebones it is? And they're not the stupid 1 achievent per second scam ones either...
Video should be called: "I spent 100 Days in Sodoku to become a master" for the trend xD
an actual platformer next game???
Did you discover the Phistomefel Ring?
the high cpu usage is probably just because this is (i think) an unreal engine game. unreal is absolutely not made for such simple games!! its horribly optimized for that use case.
I checked afterwards, and it looks like it's using Unreal Engine 5.
Day 209 of waiting for Celeste
Celeste? The letter C? Boy you have to wait a loooooot more
@silkdust8069 nah only like 146 days left trust
We agreed to jump to it if they reach 365 days
Ours are the real dollars. Canadian dollars are metric dollars.
your character's right (our left) thumb is backwards 💀
I can kind of see how it might be a pinky but it's still throwing me
Where did you see this?
@@AlphactoryAT Are you talking about the image in the thumbnail or a different one?
@@GraeldonMaybe they are talking about your profile picture?
@@Graeldon your profile picture (that also flashes later in the video)
Zen of Sudoku is absolutely positively ancient and still far, far better designed. I wonder why people put time and money into releasing something like this. Like yea, I get it's a virus distribution method, but why make a sudoku game? you'll target maybe 10 people...

was thinking of buying this just so i could beat your "only sudoku master" crown but it's 5 dollars and i am not spending that much on this im sorry
