- So Zak, Leeroy Little D and I all got together to play cars the other weekend. Lee was working on cleaning up the Zetec S whilst everyone else set about installing a 2 ltr ST170 engine into Dans Mk1.
Hope this gives you a good insight into whats involved with such a conversion.

I came across your channel by accident and so glad that I did . After owning a fiesta 1.1L myself 30yrs ago and put mc rallying wide arches, seam welded , rollcaged 7x13 superlites with stretched 185/60/13 Yokohama’s all with bilstein shocks and a 1300 engine with all the normal stuff you do back then , I find the imagination of what you guys can do with these cars fascinating and especially at a young age . Makes me want to buy another and put some sort of turbo engine in it . You guys have brilliant engineering skills and knowledge.

As I never kept the cradle for the 1.3 crossflow on a mk1 I scrapped years ago I am relieve that my low miler 1.1 cradle will accept an st170.
Just started to watch your videos. Im looking to put a st150 engine in with a 6 speed box i belive. The engine mounts you used would they fit a st150 engine. If so are you guys able to post a parts list of what you used and were from if thats okay.

Ive seen some builds where a chunk has been cut out from drivers side chassis, assuming for clearance for one of the pulleys, does cutting out the passenger side chassis for the gearbox eliminate the need for this?
Sam Wilkinson usually you need to chop out the gearbox side and tweak the drivers side to allow clearance on the bottom pulley.
Where abouts do you get the mounts from? And what driveshafts do you recommend. Cheers guys
Tylor Ballard I would recommend da performance engineering for the mounts. And mk1 short shaft and a mk2 long shaft xr2. I know some people have managed to use a mk2 short shaft with the cv clip removed.
Hi mate, I know this video is quite old now but can you remember what Dan done for driveshafts after using those cradle adapters? I've used this video for reference so many time during my build so would just like to thank you for making this!!
Mk1xr2 short shaft and mk2xr2 long shaft. You can run a mk2 short shaft with the circlip removed as we did this on kp’s car. Not ideal tho.
@@mikefpe nice one, that’s so helpful! Would we be alright keeping the original hubs from the mk1 or are their more splines on the xr2 variant driveshafts?
@@Mk2Mitch there are two options for hubs Early mk1 had 22 splines outer cv joints and late mk1 , all mk2 and most other fwd fords of that era had 23 spine as well(mk3 /4 escorts etc).
Hello I would like to do this to a mk4 escort and run a 6 speed box if possible, is there somewhere I can see what all needs modified thanks
Do yourself a favour and run an IB5 or MTX75 box. The 6 speed is crap because of how close the ratios are, you'll spend forever changing gears. Of course the MTX75 will require a different set of drive shafts because of the different spline count. I went with an ST170 and a escort turbo diesel MTX75 gearbox for my Mk1 fiesta.
Hi, you say the ib5 gearbox is from an escort but which model? Video is great. Currently doing the same thing
jonesygareth the ref on when the gearbox was bought is - 95 - 04 ford escort 1.6 petrol 16v 90bhp 32k 96WT7002CAF gearbox
Cheers for that, also I couldn't make out what flywheel was needed? Does the gearbox need any additional support/mountings? . I've got in contact with da engineering for their mount set.
jonesygareth efi cvh flywheel. Or a 1.8 zetec flywheel will work.
