Fitting a BIG BOY MTX gearbox into Zaks Sleeper turbo Escort
HTML-код

- Spent a saturday with Zak installing a bigger better MTX gearbox into his Escort. The box is stronger, has a bigger clutch, Diesel gear set and a Quaiffe differential. So its now ready for more power and more wheel speed.

Little Red Fiesta oh she chips. Need some dry weather to get some grip
Always nice to see a new video on any of the awesome projects on this channel

nice one lads, great vid !!!
Thanks once again bud :)
Good work !!!!!!
thanks again ;)
Hello friend! How are you?
Congrats for the videos. Greetings from Brazil.
If you don't mind ask, I would like to know if it is possible to swap the ib5 gearbox (from a ford focus 1.6 sigma 2012) for mtx75 gearbox (from a ford focus 2.0 duratec 2009), both are the same platform. Is It possible, like plug n play or does it need complex adjustment? As I saw from your video, it's not going to be a big deal.
Hope you can give some hint, and congrats for your work
I think the sigma and duratec have different bell housings bolt patterns. 🤔
Love the videos, keep up the hard work! Can't beat a sleep estate, thats what im going for on mine
Harry Palmer no one expects a beige estate to push them up the motorway.
Guys love your content
I’m doing a swap and I want to know, do these gearboxes take the same clutch?
Nice looking swap! What about driveshafts and hubs, did they bolt straight on from donor car?
Throwing a ST170 and a MTX75 box into my mk1 fessie, cheers for general info. Need to get me some FPE stickers. Hopefully pulling out the Valencia this weekend weather permitting.
Good video. Luckily Crazycage did all my fab work and I just assembled it all. I like the look of that speedo. I will have the factory one working this year but would be decent for now as Sat navs is hard to look at when pushing on.
Stuart Letcher thanks Stu. Yer crazy cage does some great work. Il see if Zak has a link to the heads up speedo for you.
I love the hipster looks but manly man man working on cars.
Hold my beard wax bro!!!...I've got to bleed my brakes.
Nice. Dodgy snaps
nate63892 pmsl thanks again for them. Forgot how awesome they were. 😂😂😂
Nicely done 👍🏼
Made it look easy 😂
Can we have a daytime video 😎😉
Thanks... yer need some dry weather in order to have half a chance of getting some traction...
Loving the work on these old Fords, I'm wanting to put a st170 engine in my mk4 cab, but cant find any info on the mounts I'll need for the cambelt side, I know when doing a zetec conversion that you have to modify an old cvh mount but is this the same for the st170 or is it all custom mounts. Hope you guys can point me in the right direction as this escort has an st170 engine in. Cheers dudes. 👍
Gregory Elgood you can either fabricate up an inner wing mount using the original st engine mount. Or order a DA engineering back engine mount. He also does an alternator bracket I think. Search him on instagram and tell him I sent you. Very knowledgeable and helpful guy. 😉
Thankyou, I have sent him a message so hopefully he will be able to help.
Iv got loads of winder handles will send u one
What drive shafts did u use wanting to put mtx in my mk4 cab im fed up of trashing bc boxes an ib5s
Iv done about 12 so far used ones an built ones
Big fan of your work guys was wondering if youd sell the brackets as a kit at all need some zewspeed in my life, cheers
Thanks Ted, Currently we are not really in a position to sell the brackets. best bet would be to tap up crazycage on facebook as he already sells them i believe.
@@mikefpe heard of crazycage he's work is class thanks mate will ask him
@@tedfowler5237 yer his stuff is mint. i have an inlet from him and its spot on.
@@mikefpe no surprises there lol
Jood gob nam... i mean
Good job man😉🤙
how do you guys even pass the MOT with those kind of modifications? o_O
Man thats a lot of work guys -makes the conversion for thoses that are paying someone else pretty steep,I,d say a good grand in labour alone -especially if the box needed upgraded bearings and an Lsd on top of that--nice work though looks mint👍
Hi do you guys know if the fiesta st150 ib5 box can be converted to run the MTX box how much work it is to convert ?
honestly not 100% sure, i would imagine it woudlnt fit in the same way as the ST engine is a mazda style bell housing bolt patten so wouldnt bolt up to the ford style MTX gear box.
Mike FPE thanks for getting back just thinking if it runs the ib5 surely all the bell housing bolt patterns would be the same 😂
@@michaelbranch6514 you need to check as im sure they did different varients of the IB5. same issue with the 1 and 1.6ltr eco boost engines as they have either the ford and mazda bellhousing so IB5 from a 1 ltr wont fit onto the 1.6 ltr
Mike FPE cheers mate
Nice job.
What engine is that?
Jhonny Folhas it’s a forged st170 engine with an evo turbo.
@@mikefpe thanks for the reply, good stuff 😋
what length shaft s are ?
What's the specs of your motor? Noticed you've deleted the vvt also, any preference as to why? Cheers
Jody Mcloughlin it’s a forged st170 with a ported head. The vvt delete is just to simplify it. But I think Zak will put the vvt back on it when he changes from the omex 600 ecu and goes for a haltech ecu.
@@mikefpe cool cheers. Yeah I'm doing a similar build but looking to retain the vvt using me221. Smart car.
Jody Mcloughlin we have done a couple of st turbos and running the vvt really helps with the turbo spool
Great video's 🤙but next time please at least cover the windscreen and head lights if nothing else, before welding doesn't take much to f#*k them if there mint, believe me I have done it lool
yer good shout, should have thought of that as ive been there too in the past.
Do you not have issues insuring it after this. I struggled with my mk4/5 fiesta zetec s for just being lowered no one wanted to insure it. It's a joke it's like they want you to lie
wattling 1 no issues what so ever. You need to find a broker that specialise in modified classics. Like adrian flux or HIC
@@mikefpe ok cool. Isn't power engineering uxbridge way? I'd like to get a stainless exhaust made up for my fiesta a some point anywhere decent you know off
wattling 1 power engineering can do exhausts. Give them a call ;)
@@mikefpe thanks I will
