Copperhead Road is now a national song in Nashville TN. If that isn't a great recognition for being one of the greatest/singer Songwriters, I dont know what the fck is. Those who know who Steve is and his late son Justin Townes Earle, I have the highest regard for them. I met Steve twice last year after his concerts. Steve is my addiction ❤️
I can never find a bad Steve Earle song! "I was smoking everything in sight" put a smile on my face every time. I was a designated assistant for my boyfriend in in an 18-wheeler--most y'all have a good and a log book that's off, LOL! And the rockt Man is simply incredible 😺
Oh Shut up & Die Like An Avatar. 😆 Steve Earle jumped at the chance to record this song that was in the charts when he was 6 years old. Max Factor was a genuis.
I''ve spent a fairly good amount of time listening to this song from everyone available (stars, that is) on RUclips tonight. Even George Thoroughgood's. Betcha didn't know he had a version of it. Love George, and all the rest were pretty good too. But Gotta Love THIS ONE the best. Steve rocks...and rocks...and rocks.........

He was on the road to be a major long lasting star but he fell into a hole of drugs and alcohol that ruined his career. He has since recovered but he’s old now and he just makes albums for the fun of it (popular among a small group but not selling or making much money) instead of making hit albums.
@@CamaroAmx his downfall broke my heart. I was cheering him on, hoping he kicked it tf outta the park. And it kills my soul that people have such double standards that they will forgive anyone except a celebrity for drugs and alcohol.

@babineau87 Sorry, but you are misinformed. This is a cover of an older song that has been covered by many. The song Steve wrote for the movie "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" was "Continental Highway Blues," though he also recorded this for the soundtrack. The original was released in the early 60s, by David Dudley. Written by Carl Montgomery and Earl Green.
Not sure what show, but the host is T Graham Brown, so it's country, possibly Nashville Now, normally hosted by Ralph Emery. Just saw the end, Yep. Nashville Now, The Nashville Network (TNN, now Spike) Country legend Faron Young and Amazing Rhythm Aces Russell Smith. Great show, T Graham guest hosting.
t. graham brown is the mc. this was one of the talk shows on the nashville network back in the 80's. the usual mc was ralph emmory (spelling?). the byrds didn't like ralph. they did a song about him once. ralph was a dj who became the johnny carson of the n-ville network. 'can't recall the show's title; pretty sure n-ville was in it. THIS version and dave dudley's Original are the best ever on this song! thanks for posting it.
@ReniganStSur Yes it is an old song - but babineau said it was written by Steve Earle, who was still in elementary school when Dudley's version came out..
Dave Dudley. That's the only guy that does this song truck drivin style. I'm an expert. I've been on the road 37 years. This song come on in the middle of the night....nothing like it. I'm out.
Yea, I love everything Steve does but his cover of Six Days drags too much. Not sure if it's not fast enough or the way they treat the rhythm..I hear a much busier bass pattern on this song . I cover it myself on piano and it's much more lively .
Mike Burke I so agree...i'm also an expert... 26 year yrs on the road. Super nice trooper...he said he grew up listening to the old classic country music with his dad.
Mike Burke Dunno about that. I grew up listening to Dave Dudleys version, and it's great, but then I heard the Battlefield Band's version - bluegrass bagpipes!
I'm in no way dogmatic, I do have all Steve's albums, but I also have a lot of other artists albums, and I do love country, but I also do love other genres... Good version of the song, Love the George Jones version too. Steve is just off the charts great on almost everything...can't think of another artist with more kick ass songs that never charted...maybe JJ Cale.
@MrJackwraith Dudley made it famous, but he didn't write it. It was two little known songwriters - Carl Montgomery and Earl Green - who wrote for Muscle Shoals studio.
