I was in Chattanooga last year. Got there late in afternoon, checked in to hotel. Wife and I had dinner. Next morning I went downstairs to lobby to get coffee and kill some time. I picked up the local paper and found out Gordon Lightfoot had given a concert the night before just a few blocks from the hotel. I was sad that I missed it.
I'm a 55 year young Kiwi (New Zealander) and I had my near-death motorcycle accident on Friday 27 April 1990 when I was 26 - it ultimately resulted in me losing my entire left leg, hip, and left side of my pelvis plus I suffered numerous other internal injuries. I have suffered chronic stump pain (neuromas - groups of nerves) even though there is no stump ever since. I still love motorcycles and can still ride. One of my favorite road movies of all time is 'Easy Rider'. The themes of the movie I can really relate to. However can I please say - that life ain't no free ride, no sir, there is always a price to pay for living, freedom doesn't come for free. It costs to be free. What is the price? What does it cost? We are born to die. And in between we live. I love a quote from Martin Luther King Jr; “If a man hasn’t found something he will die for, he isn’t fit to live.” Well, I've got to run to keep from hiding And I'm bound to keep on riding And I've got one more silver dollar But I'm not gon' let 'em catch me, no Not gon' let 'em catch the midnight rider And I don't own the clothes I'm wearing And the road goes on forever And I've got one more silver dollar But I'm not gon' let 'em catch me, no Not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider And I've gone by the point of caring Some old bed I'll soon be sharing And I've got one more silver dollar But I'm not gon' let 'em catch me, no Not gon' let 'em catch the midnight rider No, I'm not gon' let 'em catch me, no Not gon' let 'em catch the midnight rider No, I'm not gon' let 'em catch me, no I'm not gon' let 'em catch the midnight rider But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no Not gon' let 'em catch the midnight rider Songwriters: Gregg L. He is taking us to the “Guitar Town”
Jesus. Gordon Lightfoot by the stairs, mouth agape. This song just set my hair on end.
I thought that was him!
I wondered if anyone saw him. I didn't see any more comments about it.
@@little8940 I don't know. But it is him 100%.
Songs never die......
Thank God for Steve Earl.
Where is this the rest of this performance? It is INCREDIBLE
I love a quote from Martin Luther King Jr; “If a man hasn’t found something he will die for, he isn’t fit to live.”
Well, I've got to run to keep from hiding
And I'm bound to keep on riding
And I've got one more silver dollar
But I'm not gon' let 'em catch me, no
Not gon' let 'em catch the midnight rider
And I don't own the clothes I'm wearing
And the road goes on forever
And I've got one more silver dollar
But I'm not gon' let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider
And I've gone by the point of caring
Some old bed I'll soon be sharing
And I've got one more silver dollar
But I'm not gon' let 'em catch me, no
Not gon' let 'em catch the midnight rider
No, I'm not gon' let 'em catch me, no
Not gon' let 'em catch the midnight rider
No, I'm not gon' let 'em catch me, no
I'm not gon' let 'em catch the midnight rider
But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gon' let 'em catch the midnight rider
