Its getting clearer Dr. Solberg....thats why you need to continue doing what u r doing...not of your own strenght but thru Him who saves, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Rob is my favorite of the many teachers I have watched. He cool. I’m still trying to figure out his phrase:” Permitted but not required.” I know what he means, but how can Shabbat and festivals be permitted when they don’t exist. Can you help me out?
Thanks so much for these studies. I was also a sabbath keeper, when I first heard about sabbath and other things I was excited to do all that I thought God wanted from me and I remember feeling prideful because I was in the true church. As time passed my questions and doubts grew. I battled with guilt for years, afraid that I was doing the wrong thing by leaving this denomination and losing my salvation, I’m so grateful the Lord has revealed His truth.
Keeping the Sabbath holy is not something that makes us better than others. Even gentiles should honour the Sabbath but it’s not a law for them. There is no punishment for not keeping it but a reward if they do. Any church that threatens with hellfire is just a cult. God is a righteous judge, not a monster who enjoys torturing people for all eternity, no matter how evil they were. People are judged according to what they have done, an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. Eternal punishment is no just punishment for something you did for a period of time. The church has made God into a monster who you must love or else you go to hell. Thats not God at all. God loves you, even if you sin, and rejoices when you repent.
The Rabbi is talking about living your faith. Not Salvation by works. If he lives near you, why don't you go to talk with him. He isn't saying what you are explaining he is saying. He is not saying what you say he is saying. He is talking about faith. Faith without works is dead. We have to die to ourselves and live to the will of God. He is talking about Romans 2: 8-11. Rabbi is talking about rewards. Mathew 16.27 ...that is what Rabbi is saying. Salvation produces the good works..rewards for good works....not condemnation because you do not do the good works.
Wow. This is incredibly helpful to walk through this teaching with you as a Berean would. I am so grateful for your faithfulness to the whole message of the scripture. I've been facing a similar teaching on a channel called "Jesus Words Only" and honestly believe that the Lord brought your material to my attention to further equip me for the defense of the hope that we have - with gentleness and respect. I thank the Lord for you brother!
@rayray4192 5 months ago The quintessential definition of grace is unmerited favor. All redeemed saints come to God empty handed. We have nothing to give God except our sins. *Paul might think so as he argues that we are saved by grace and not of works in Ephesians 2:8-9. Yet, Christ comes back to these same Ephesians in Revelation 2 and warns them if they don’t “Repent and DO THE FIRST WORKS” that he will remove their candlestick, only granting right to the tree of life to those who overcome in this message. Why didn’t Christ rather say, “Look, don’t bother, just believe grace will save you?” like Paul was peddling? Do you not find it interesting that all you can imagine to offer to God is your sins, not your love or your obedience or your loyalty in what you said above??? Let me explain why you find yourself in this unfortunate situation. Paul in Acts 23:6 admits he is still very much a Pharisee, bringing the entire body of his doctrine under Christ’s warning in Matthew 16 to beware the doctrine of the Pharisees: a warning most Christians ignore to their own detriment. Christ also warns us that Pharisees like Paul make their converts twice the child of hell than themselves in Matthew 23:15. And this Pharisee Paul, after warning us in 2Cor 11 to not marvel that Satan’s ministers are transformed into ministers of righteousness in the very next chapter in 2Cor 12:7 admits to having a “messenger of Satan”. You would think more Christians would sit up and take notice of that before buying into Paul’s ideas of grace. Because Christ also warns us that Pharisees like Paul are of their father the devil in John 8:44, which leaves me wondering how a Pharisee like Paul with his messenger of Satan in 2Cor 12:7 is going to pass Christ’s qualifications of having righteousness greater than that of a Scribe and Pharisee which is required in order to enter the kingdom of God in Matthew 5:20-especially when Christ in Matthew 23:13 is rebuking the Scribes and Pharisees like Paul for not entering his kingdom and not suffering others to enter in??? The moment Paul tried to lure people out from under God’s law to be under his grace alternative instead in Romans 6:14, Paul brought himself under the warning of God in Isaiah 8:20 where God says that anyone like Paul speaking not according to the law and testimony has no light in them. Because God binds up the testimony and seals his law among his disciples in Isaiah 8:16. So, Paul is trying to rob people of becoming God’s disciples by teaching them to join him in rejecting the very seal of God. This idea of binding up the testimony and being sealed by the law comes from Deuteronomy 6 where God urges people to bind the law to their right hand and forehead. This is to protect us from the problem arising in Revelation 14 under the Third Angel’s Message where people take instead the mark of the beast in their right hand and forehead. The question is which choice will we ultimately make here? Will we come under the protection of God’s law or will we abandon God’s law for the mark of the beast???
There was only ONE Israelite or Jew [Jesus-Yeshua] that ever kept the Law perfectly in mind and deed. Jesus is the Seed of Abraham, a former Hebrew idol worshiper that kept none of the Levitical laws! It was YHWH covenant with Abraham because of Abraham's Faith that sustained the Seed [Christ], not the attempts to keep the laws given because of disobedience by Israelite or Jews past, present, or future. Great teaching and breakdown!
Works (I believe) does not mean the fallowing of the 613 laws. It means the expressing the LOVE of God and each other that Christ taught through His life. On these hang all the laws and prophets. These are the works of faith.
@@marksr49341 yes, they are laws given to the nation of Israel. That’s why in the book of Acts at the Jerusalem council it was decided that believers in Jesus who are gentiles don’t need to be circumcised but are only bound by the Noahide laws that are given for all mankind. Yet Christians often take it further than that even trying to convince Jews in Israel that the law has been abolished. Yet even in the gospels of the New Testament Jesus made it very clear that he did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it. Fulfilling the law was an obligation for all the Jews, it means to fully follow all commandments. It doesn’t mean to abolish it. In the book of Acts Paul goes out of his way to prove that he is not teaching apostasy from the law of Moses by undergoing a purification ritual together with other men which includes an animal sacrifice. He clearly still followed all the required Jewish laws which makes us question, is this the same Paul who wrote the letters saying the law has been abolished. Something clearly doesn’t add up here unless Paul was a deceiver who only pretended to keep the law of Moses.
@@marksr49341 True, they should set us apart from the rest of the world. When what is called the Church looks like the rest of the world than we know there is a huge problem with it.
An example from my own life... I was addicted to porn. It took me a while to realize that I CAN'T free myself of the addiction. It was getting somewhat better due to my own attempts, but when the Holy Spirit set me free from it, there was NO QUESTION that I would be forever 100% free from it. The deliverance came over me in an instant. Not that I may never stumble ever again, but that's not even my focus or worry anymore, and the sin no longer has dominion over me. I'm not a slave to it anymore. It's been about 2 years now, and I haven't gone back to porn, PRAISE JESUS! It's a deliverance that can only come from God. And it only comes when we REPENT from our self righteous deeds and throw ourselves at His mercy that we don't deserve and that we'll never deserve. And He will cleanse us of our sin. The good "works" of a Christian truly do come from a changed heart. We are new creations!!!

When I found out that the word Believe means "rest in", that changed everything! I literally thought the word Believe was an action word because of legalistic preachers!
Recommend you look up Strong's greek 4100, it is the word Pisteuo that is often translated believe. I think you will find out that whoever told you that believe means to rest in was't being honest.
That’s interesting but how did you find this out? To me believe is an action word because it means to trust God and do what he tells you to do. When you trust someone you just do what they tell you without wanting to know the exact reason why you should do something. So I guess in a way we’re ‘resting in’ them by just trusting them that everything will be ok.
@@rightouslivingJesus said the "work" God requires is to believe in the One He has sent. That's why His yoke is easy and His burden is light. "It is no longer I that lives, but Christ that lives in me." Trusting that God will complete the work He started in us. "Because it is God that works in us to WILL and to DO His good pleasure." There isn't anything we can do. Jesus fulfilled ALL the requirements for us. We LIVE by faith. He "will complete the work He started in me." If He started it, He will finish it. He gave us a new heart that is obedient. But, our minds need to be renewed as we realize what Jesus has already done for us. His work is sufficient. It is finished.
@ if you understand that the Torah has become flesh in Jesus, then you understand that Jesus is all about the Torah, that the Word of God becomes flesh in us as it was in him. This is what it means to be one with God the Father. Jesus did not come to bring a new commandment that would add to or diminish the Torah, if he did that he would be a false prophet.
I didn't see this coming. After 18 years of marriage my husband has become torah observant and is upset that I do not submit to his authority in this belief. I am numb after so many conversations. I love my husband but my soul is not comfortable at all with following all the 613 laws. I feel condemned daily by my spouse. Lord open the eyes of those falling for this heresy and show them grace and truth, bring peace to my soul as I try to be submissive.
I will pray for you this morning. I’m watching families and friends divide and struggle around me-I’ve lost friends to it. How much deeper it is, when it’s a spouse. 💕
@kdslight Thank you. It is great comfort knowing I am not alone. I have watched your videos. I fear that if I give up my beliefs and follow my spouse, he will sink more and more into this movement.
This is all so hard to navigate and I'm thankful so many of us can come together in Scripture to work through the "how-tos." You are correct to not give up your beliefs. When and how to surrender our freedoms in the home, especially with children involved is messy. I am praying the Holy Spirit bring you clarity on how and what to do, even if just day by day for now.

When he called the gospel foolish, it reminded me of first Corinthians: For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."
Were you people redeemed from the curse of the law that Paul is referring to in Galatians 3 when he said "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law"?
Grace as Jason staples has shown in greek is a term for reciprocation meaning yiu have now been given the spirit so you can be obedient and do the works that lead to a good judgement. "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure." "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Salvation is something you work towards as Paul states you don't already have it as him and jesus make clear the final judgment will be based on works.
"Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears." ~ Acts 20 : 30ff
Unfortunately this happened then and we still suffer the consequences of it. It's very difficult today to distinguish between truth and error because for nearly two thousand years the church participated in the destruction of all that which contradicted the orthodox faith, including exiling bishops, burning their writings and even using torture and burning them on the stake with the justification that they only were trying to save their souls from hell. It's time the church becomes honest about their doctrines that they are seriously flawed.
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us but "You are observing special days and months and seasons and years! I fear for you! Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?" Gal 4 Jesus set us free from the Curse of the law (Gal 3:10-13), but some slap Jesus in the face and reject His sacrifice to try and establish their own self righteousness. Even the Apostle said of himself: "For I know that GOOD DOES NOT DWELL IN MYSELF! It is easy for me to delight in the good, but I am unable to perform it!" Romans 7:18 Jesus paid our debt that he did not owe but we reject His sacrifice payment, slapping Him in the face. It is so sad when we idolize ourselves over Jesus.

The scary thing is not so much what he says (which is horrifying ) but the fact that the congregation doesn’t fact check him with an authorized version of the Bible. Total lack of discernment.
The reality is that most Christians don't fact check the doctrines taught in their churches. Pastors don't usually encourage to fact check. Sometimes they might say to check your bible but I never heard of any pastor who tells their congregation to learn Hebrew or consult Rabbis who know Hebrew so they can really fact-check because they know that once you do this you will become a problem for them.
When I hear such claims (that salvation = grace + works), I immediately want to ask several questions: 1) How many works, and which ones, do I have to do to earn my salvation? Please give me a list of them and the criteria for measuring them from the Bible. The only unambiguous and terrifying criterion I found is "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect." 2) What about a single failure/sin in my life, even after repentance? Does it count somehow, curse me, or what? What will be the mathematical formula of my accordance on the scales of the highest court in the end? 3) What works were done by the thief on the cross to whom Jesus said, "Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise"? Are these the same amount and type of works that should be done according to the answer to the first question? If yes, I can tell the list of works is quite short 😅. If no, it means Jesus lied to this man.
1) Which ones? Read the front of the book.. The way Jesus/Apostles/Paul tells others to do. 2) Reflect and read Paul's letters to the Ephesians and Galatians, moreover 1 John and James 3) If he was an Israelite is it possible he had a repentant heart - a contrite heart? He may have understood breaking the law and justice is how the world works. [all we can do is speculate]
You're saved when you repent and believe in Yahushua. Look up: Eliyah Ministries, Saved by a Faith that Works Proverbs 24:16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. Ezekiel 18:24 But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.
It's not difficult. When you sin, just repent. If you stole, do restitution as much as you can. If you sinned against your brother, go to him and apologise. The sinner on the cross was justified because he sincerely repented and it was demonstrated by him defending Jesus, which is a good work.
True faith naturally produces good works, but good works don't produce saving grace. That's what Jesus was talking about when he called the religious leaders of his day "Whitewashed tombs full of dead men's bones."
I agree with the first half of your statement that 'true faith naturally produces good works', however the second part is questionable. As James in his letter pointed out, Rahab, a prostitute, was saved by what she did. She wasn't a Israelite but she recognised that He had given the Israelites the land because of the stories she heard about the Exodus. Now she was not the only one who heard the stories because she said that they all heard about these stories and were terrified. What distinguished her from the others was that she had the opportunity to do a good work for the Israelites and did it. Her good works together with the opportunity given produced saving grace.
Jesus also said that they make the Word of God to no effect, teaching their traditions of men. He also said if we break one of the least of the commandment, we will be least in the Kingdom.
@@genestudniskisr2658 exactly, they make and still make the word of God of no effect teaching traditions of men like the orthodox doctrines of the trinity and virgin birth of Jesus. It’s high time the church repents and returns back to follow the Torah teaching all of it and not just picking out verses out of context that suits their own desires. However, we need to differentiate between Jews and Gentiles. The law applies to all men but not every law applies to every person. There are laws that only apply to priests, others only apply to Jews and still others that only apply to Gentiles, also called strangers. Noah was no Jew, nor was Abraham. They are said to have kept all of God’s laws and statutes. The law or Torah therefore existed even before Moses gave the law to the people of Israel.
I have asked the question, "why does Christ leave us here after we come to him?" But that thinking is so childish. We are called to spread His kingdom. That's one of the commands he gives us.

Maybe, but unfortunately we don’t have the letters of the other side. The Roman church was very good to destroy all evidence that contradicted their theology and only kept what agreed with them. Those who didn’t go along with their doctrines were expelled and called heretics. Later they burned them on the stake. That’s how the “orthodox” doctrines survived and were made popular.
The very definition of grace shows that salvation is free in and of itself. Grace translates to the Greek word CHARIS which means "unmeritted favor." This is why Paul says in ephesians "for by grace you have been saved (past tense) through faith and NOT OF YOURSELVES, it is a gift of God. Not of works so that no one may boast." This is also why in John's gospel (the one actually written to save the lost; see john 21:30-31) he gives the sole criteria to be saved which is to believe. This is also why Paul tells the church of Rome the difference between grace and works in Romans 11:7 "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work." Believe the gospel performed on your behalf (the death, burial and resurrection) and recieve eternal life today. Jesus died to pay the penalty for your sin which is death. If he already payed your debt then there is only one place to go.
He keeps saying that the idea that salvation is by grace, and not works, is foolish. 1 Corinthians 1:23 says (NASB 95), "but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness,". This passage is fulfilled in Mr. Berkson.
"And constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain." ~ 1 Timothy 6 : 5
The reason why we have lots of false doctrines is because when you're a group, dominant people will always win the discussion. I prefer doing it alone because you can clearly hear from the Spirit. Extroverts can be problematic in many cases.
@@simonskinner1450 I wouldn't be so sure. In James 4 he references the law in the context of not judging your brother, that if you judge the law you are not a doer of the law, but a judge. He also references the prophets (which includes Moses) as an example to follow (Jam 5:10).
@@simonskinner1450the book of the law contained in ordinances is different to the book of the covenant which was transacted 450 years before the sin of the golden calf which brought in the law of ordinances which have now been abolished. The covenant has been renewed through the blood of Christ instead of bulls and goats which were a temporary measure to bring awareness of sin, not freedom from it as His perfect sacrifice has done
@@rightousliving James is making the point of not judging others other than against God's laws, brethren are under the jurisdiction of God's laws, and must be held accountable to them, and as such must not be spoken against. The prophets suffered by the hand and mouth of fellow believers, as they made up there own laws, and were called hypocrites. The point I make is that "works of the law" are not attempts to keep the law, but the imputation or accusation of sin. I used to listen to mtoi a lot. I heard him say, "Why are you searching for other rabbis, I should be enough." That was it for me. Hello Mr. Solberg, I pray you are well... I enjoy your videos. And I have to admit that I was decieved into the Hebrew Roots doctrine nearly 10 years ago. I no longer share these viewpoints as of around two years ago. Since well before I entered the doctrine of Hebrew Roots/Messianics congregations I have felt a calling on my life to teach and share the message of truth. And in late 2018, my family and I relocated to Cleveland, TN under the impression (that he gives) that this man would train me to become the teacher that I "thought" I needed to be. We spent one year with this congregation, and it was one of the worst years of my family's journey to grow closer to God. I don't like to degrade people, nor personally attack anyone, so I will not be saying too much more about his character or his personal issues. But I can and will say that he teaches so many things that are contrary to the way Yeshua would have us to live our lives and treat others. While I take issue with some of the things that you teach as well, I highly respect your approach and humility. I also appreciate the fact that you leave your comment section open for opposing views that we may (as you called it) be bereans. I too welcome all opposing doctrine as thisvis the only way we truly get to the bottom of what the truth really is. Now, I do teach others about the word of God, but I am not yet a RUclips video maker, "so to speak" that I can make rebuttal videos against any doctrines I encounter. But maybe one day I will be able to send you a link to my rebuttal video to your teachings that we may have a meaningful discussion. 🙂 But for now.... May God bless you on your quest for the truth!
I appreciate your testimony that you got out and it is encouraging to my faith in Yah to keep His Word and deliver His people from the wicked hands... Amen
What happens to a person who believes in Christ and doesn't obey Christ? According to James he will not be saved for he is just like a demon. To be obedient to Christ YOU have to do something. Unfortunately modern theology has ruined biblical terminology, so today we experience in churches false dichotomies through vague and ambiguous terms. The fact is you don't 'work' for salvation but you do work for your faith. You can't do 'nothing' and be obedient to Christ and receive the free gift of salvation. According to James, Abraham's actions perfected his faith. "You see a man is justified by his deeds (of faith) and not by faith alone." James 2:24
James is talking to already saved Christians about the faith of the believers to be useful to others. Help the less fortunate etc. It's not about salvation. Romans 4:5 should be enough for this. But it never is.
@@antonkoivisto2999 AMEN. It's the failure to distinguish between "works of the law" (which Paul discussed at length using that exact phrase) & works of faith (which James discussed in his letter; not the exact phrase but obviously the concept).
You're absolutely right! Paul uses that phrase as a point of distinction, because he knows that there are works of faith that bring about a justifying faith and reward - as James points out. And the NT says, "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work" (2 Tim. 3:16-17) "Scripture" to Jesus and the NT authors almost always refers to what we call the OT. (The one exception is 2 Peter 3:16, where Paul's letters are referred to as Scripture.) So if we believe in Jesus, we have to accept the authority of the OT. Jesus accepted, endorsed, and taught from Scripture many times. For example, "Then he said to them, 'These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.' Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures" (Luke 24:44-45) So if any person teaches something that contradicts Scripture, I have to side with Scripture on that issue. It is of higher authority than the opinion of any man. Blessings, Rob
Prof Solberg, yes, scripture is profitable, everyone is agreed on that. Now please harness all your PhD powers and tell me where scripture says that it is our ultimate authority? @@TheBiblicalRoots
@@dmoffitt1914 Yes, Noah's 'work' of building the ark was proof/evidence of his faith/belief/trust in God. I think that is what bthongni55 is saying too. We are told to make sure we are 'in the faith'. We do this by making sure we are in obedience to God's commands.
"By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith." ~ Hebrews 11 : 7

Hey professor, or anyone... id like to ask Romans 4:4+5 are they not talking about someone who has a job? and one who has wages is obligated to be charitable... whilst the non worker is still credited? i notice the words are different in 4+5 compared to works in 4:6 whilst on strongs concordance. One being more 'labor/tradesman/ i work' usage (ERGAZOMAI), and the 4:6 being a more plain 'work, task, deed,' usage (ERGON).. any input from greek speakers? is this interpretation im having wrong?
Hi, AOI! In Romans 4:1-12, Paul is talking about Abraham being justified by faith. That is the context for verses 4-5. He's using an example from life-namely, how a wage earned by a worker is not a "gift" but instead is money they _earned_ by working for it-to explain that if believers had to work to _earn_ their justification, it would no longer be a gift. Instead, Paul says, we are declared righteous (justified) based on faith, not works. Blessings, RLS
God forgave David, but still punished him for his sins, right? So couldn't sola fide kind of be true, but there could also be some punishments involved, like purgatory? After all, Revelation 20 says we will be judged by our works.
So is he saying that if Jesus never died, we couldn't be saved no matter how good we were? I have a friend that is getting into some of this type of stuff with her husband and im not sure how to even approach it.
Yeah, he's teaching that because Jesus died, He made salvation available. If He never died, we couldn't be saved no matter what. So that idea, on its own, is biblical. Where he gets into trouble is when he starts teaching how we "earn" the salvation that Jesus made available. RL
@@TheBiblicalRoots Thank you for that feedback. I recently subscribed to this channel and I have to say it's been a blessing. I pray I can learn from this teaching to help others.
We tried and had to leave. Jesus is the only way! Observing Torah is just that...observe the law as a structure for Gods teaching His people before He sent HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON. We had to leave and prayed for them because it opens the door to ANTICHRIST. Yeshua is not taught to be the ONLY WAY anymore. Pray for them. Im praying for my daughter to come from under this Man and I trust God to deliver her and all those who belong to Him. Amen
Mr. Solberg, I'm an avid follower of your teachings but at the mark of 8:45mins, you quoted the verses as1Timothy4:3-4 which should actually be 2Timothy4:3-4. Just a slight oversight here and nothing serious. Thank you
The lake is the lake of fire. His view is if you don't want to do the works then you might as well just jump in the lake. God bless, Brother Solberg for the lessons and help in explanations you do.
The work we are to do is the obedience of faith. So those who say we are to be obedient must understand that the obedience that God wants is faith in Christ. John 6:28-29 Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” This is The Work we will be judged on ~ our obedience of faith in Christ. This was a great video.
after belief we must grow and mature to the stature of Messiah, working out our salvation...we shouldn't just stop at faith in Christ. We are required to be doers.
@@2believeis2trustandobey Do you disagree with what Christ said? That the work of God is to believe on him? Of course we are to work out our salvation, but that just means live the Christian life; that does not mean work to obtain or maintain righteousness with God.
@@2believeis2trustandobey "The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor." ~ Matthew 11 : 5
According to the Newman Ministry, Dismas asked Jesus to remember him, and Jesus told him that he would be in Paradise with him that day. This is seen as an example of the steps needed to achieve salvation through Christ, including acknowledging one's sins, repenting, and accepting Christ's salvation. In contrast, the other thief, Gestas, never repented and joined his torturers in insulting Jesus. His pride prevented him from accepting the only one who could save him.
The works spoken of in James 2: is exactly what Jesus said to the Jews, Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath? Doing a good deed on the Sabbath should never be considered as work. I was once in a situation where I had to take care of someone on the Sabbath. I donated the earnings for that day to a poor family and let God be my judge.
Yes...the confusion is real. 1 Corinthians 14:33 King James Version 33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
Brother R.L.. he may not be all wrong. Perhaps you forgot. Galations 6:8 For he who sows to his own flesh (lower nature, sensuality) will from the flesh reap decay and ruin and destruction, but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
@@jasonwhite646 oh I see. You've defined flesh incorrectly or at least incompletely. Flesh is striving for self righteousness. This is our lowest nature or pride.
Ok. I love this dialog. Thank you! To be clear. I don't think that flesh only is defined by self righteousness. That's not biblical. Galations 5:19-21. Acts of the flesh are also overt sins. Grace is not just about our forgiveness of past, present and future sins (as in sinning- verb-action of iniquity. ) But grace also includes our flesh dying to sin so that sin may no longer be our master. We died with Christ! Grace not only gives us a right standing before God, but also gives us victory over sins power. Some do not teach Grace this way and teach it more as a license. That's concerning. We should reckon our 'wretched ' flesh dead with Christ daily as Paul did. Come into agreement with God, that it must die so Christ may live through us. Fair enough explanation brother?
A believer reckoning himself dead with Christ daily is not a self-righteous act - to be clear. But its agreeing with God by faith. That's the power of the body of Christ, not just the blood. Blessings.
I wonder if it is this issue that is one of the most difficult lines of distinction to explain. Studying these out due to this channel has been a blessing for myself. I have grown in my appreciation of the challenge Paul faced explaining this to those of Jewish backgrounds. Some churches elevate the law (10 commandments) so high, that the proper place of our works were blended into God’s grace. So that you were saved by God’s grace (power) that enabled you to keep the law. As grace of forgiveness was secondary to using the grace (read power) to overcome sin in one’s life.
What does Jesus have to say about how we obtain eternal life? Matthew 19:16-17 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. Our Lord and savior, King of the Jews tells us in order to obtain eternal life we must keep the commandments. This seems quite easy to understand. Keep the commandments and live. 2 Peter 3:15-16 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given given unto him hath written unto you. 17 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. We all have work to do in order to obtain eternal life. It is after all, by our works that we will be judged. Revelation 20:11-12 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. This is very serious business and we must seek the truth for ourselves and get the proper understanding because it will determine whether we spend eternity in the kingdom of heaven or in the lake of fire. Open up the book and read my friend, and I pray that you find the truth, this goes for me as well. Glory to God.
@@lionbehavior9841 Thank you for the detailed and informative response. What you documented and the logic I was reading sounds similar to what I grew up in. I felt RL Solberg did an excellent study explaining how justification is described. To say it another way, is our justification is based on our trust in God and confession of Him openly (repentance)…. And that is what saves. Our sanctification is based on Christ as well. However, it isn’t anything that merits toward our salvation. It is us placing ourselves in Christ and He changing us …. all out of our love for God. That is how I understand it at this point but the light RL Solberg has provided I find far simpler and easier to understand than the teaching of sanctification being included with justification.
@@lionbehavior9841I think Jesus' teachings were another way of showing us that we can't live up to the commandments. The Jews thought they were living up to the standards of the law, but Jesus pointed out that even their thoughts and intentions were evil, in spite of their works. Our righteousness must exceed that of the law! How is this possible when nobody could keep the law?! By receiving the gift of righteousness by faith! The righteousness of Christ, not our own. Remember Satan standing next to Joshua and pointing out how unclean he was? God did not say Satan was wrong! But, He clothed Joshua in a robe of His own righteousness! That is the grace of God. By faith in the righteousness of Christ, we receive His robe of righteousness.
Yes, Christ will do all the things that we cannot. Which is "fulfil the law" NO ONE but Christ was without sin. It is not believing He is the messiah. It is believing that through faith in Him and His sacrifice that we receive grace. Faith is NOT the same as simply knowing something.
I'm sorry but I think you fail to define, bluntly enough, what having genuine faith really means here in this video. I know countless Christians who apparently "believe in Jesus" and even pray, but they do utterly nothing with their lives to demonstrate that their faith is genuine. Christ is less than an afterthought throughout the entirety of their sinful lives, and that is not faith. Those people are not saved, despite their belief. Unlike what you say around 24:00, a LACK of acts/fruit/works DOES impact where you end up. It proves your faith is dead if you do utterly nothing with your life once you learn the truth of Christ. Neither you nor the man you criticise, who I agree is a heretic, spend enough time explaining to people what having true faith means, vs empty, tokenistic faith. But the Bible does. Clearly. Here it is: Evidence of Genuine Faith Through Works: 1. James 2:14-26 "What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, 'Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,' but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, 'You have faith, and I have works.' Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe-and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, 'Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.' And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven." 1 John 3:17-18 "But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth." Warnings Against Lukewarmness: Revelation 3:15-16 "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth." Matthew 7:19 "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire." Luke 6:46 "But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do the things which I say?" 2 Timothy 3:5 "Having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!" Challenges for the Wealthy: it is not enough to "just believe in Christ" and be rich. It takes transformational change. Mark 10:23-25 "Then Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, 'How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!' And the disciples were astonished at His words. But Jesus answered again and said to them, 'Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.'" 1 Timothy 6:9-10 "But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." Matthew 25:28-30 "Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
You did such a wonderful job of addressing his teaching in a kind way. Thanks for sharing. When I first heard Steve's teaching, I felt very disturbed and troubled. So then trying to understand where he was coming from, I did some searching on his background and what I found was quite unsettling, including past involvments and statements he has made about Jesus. We really need to be prayerful and show love, grace, and humility for people in this movement as well as many other fringe cults that are attracting believers these days as none of us are exempt from deception creeping in. I appreciate that you mentioned how important it is to have accountability and community when undertanding God's word. 💯 Isolation can be a slippery slope. I was raised in a few different "fringe beliefs" myself and now that I'm in my 30s, I've started seeing the patterns and common denominators that all these fringe beliefs or cults have in common. Its important to be aware of the warning signs I think.. And for those who have family or friends going down the road of unbiblical doctrine, my heart goes out to you. Its tough to watch. Praying for grace and truth to prevail! Blessings!
C.J. Koster and The Scriptures translation (ISR) was my introduction to the SNO (Sacred Name Only) Movement, which is a faction within the HRM. He also wrote a book called Come Out of Her My People. This book, and another very much like it, Fossilized Customs, were a huge influence. I'm still trying to get my bearings on what, if any of that info was true. You'll notice that many words (not only names) in this translation are changed, such as: grace = favor, glory = esteem, holy = set apart, etc... this is because these words are considered pagan in origin, and not acceptable in worship of YHWH. I had a really hard time with this. For a time, I became so engulfed by these teachings that I stopped saying many "unclean"/pagan words like the names for the days of the week and months of the year, etc. The fact that it was hard to converse with a regular person due to my complicated speech was just evidence to how set apart I was. And this really was only the beginning. It got even fringier from there. Coincidentally, we lived near the Berkson's assembly, but wouldn't fellowship with them because of certain fringe beliefs we held at that time that prevented it. What a mess.
And how did you come out, receive deliverance...please share. My daughter seems stuck in it and many other of God's people. He shall deliver them from the hand of the wicked...😅😢😂
Luke 2:40 KJVS - 40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. Where do you get your assertion?
The ESV says "And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom. And the favor of God was upon him" (Luke 2:40). This doesn't say anything about Jesus _meriting_ God's favor. Shalom, RL
@@TheBiblicalRoots i’m trying to focus on the definition of the word grace. If it means unmerited favour or merited favour. I think we both can agree that Jesus did not need unmerited favour.
Grace is Grace, period! You received it for free. We are done covering that. Now, if you don't obey his commandments, you will not be with Him. Period. Without works (actions), you will not be with him. If you love him, follow my comments, as He has stated. This is action. As 1 Samuel says, God desires obedience before burnt offering. Without an action, you will never see God.
You are a sinner. Your comment is redundant. When you say grace is grace you haven’t said anything. Grace is an undeserved gift. The Holy Spirit is an undeserved gift. You are a commandment breaker. You don’t choose love 💯 and you don’t love perfectly; not even close. You are a liar and an evil doer.
Great passage. You are like a Berean. I just posted it so no surprise on nothing yet. They will come up with something, but then we just open the Scriptures to find the truth again. I sure don’t understand it all, but i trust the whole counsel of YHWH to bring me home. Shalom 🕎✝️
I feel you I have a small dissertation with time stamps i'm waiting on a reply for. People get so stuck on Paul letter to their own destruction like Peter warned. If He'd just add another witness like it is commanded in Deuteronomy and even by Paul in 1 Corinthians it would help correct this misunderstanding of scripture.
When he said lake, he was referring to the lake of fire, which is why swimming trunks made of asbestos which would be fire proof, wouldn’t help you there.
Interesting video. I agreed with being Barean and that we shouldn't be devisive. Now, I was raised in Christianity, and also used to attend MTOI. I agree, Rabbi Berkson makes some problematic statements, none represented in this video. To be fair, if you're not familiar with Rabbi's teachings, the video you played was an "Infocus" which is a snippet of an hour long teaching, in this case the teaching, Be Set Apart. In this particular snippet of this teaching, Rabbi briefly addresses the topic of Grace. He doesn't go into proper detail here because he has already laid out a teaching which is a 14 hour study, line by line, verse by verse on what the Scripture says about Grace. Rabbi's expectation as he teaches is that when he references a topic that he's already covered, you're better to go back to that teaching to understand the concept. Rather than addressing a two minute sound bite. I'd be interested to hear the conclusion you come to after following Rabbi line by line through Scripture. Seriously. The danger in these types of teachings that the Rabbi makes is that they appeal to our nature of getting things done and the truth of relying in the Holy Spirit is completely foreign to humanity Relying on someone else to be able to do something does not make sense Look I am in total agreement with you but what I am saying is that without careful study and proper understanding of our faith some of us who believe in grace find our self living out works based salvation Motivating our self’s to love And so on …
Is work done for the benefit of oneself not of a different nature than work done for the benefit of another/others? It seems to me even non-believers can grasp the distinction, (and I don't doubt garner favor with God when such work for other is done earnestly). This man is apparently thinking one can mix the two without God noticing . . (Me no think so ; )
Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
But my friend which works? A. Evil works. Not good works of James, but evil works as Paul. Works of the law are transgressions, so in Paul's epistles works are evil, the very opposite of good. In Romans 11:6 ask yourself why grace would reject good works? I have a Ytube video series 'Myths in so-called Christianity' and #1 explains Romans 11:6.
One thing I disagree with and many people say as an argument which just doesn't make sense. Is when Jesus said if your righteousness doesn't exceed the righteousness of the Pharisees you won't enter the kingdom. I agree with what Jesus said but how you broke it down makes no sense to me. You said that the Pharisees were seen as the most righteous people at the time by the people, which may be true, but that doesn't mean they were righteous. And that's precisely what Jesus constantly pointed out about the Pharisees. I.e when they confronted Jesus about the bread/hand washing situation. How did Jesus respond? You say your righteous yet you hold your traditions over the commands of God. And showed them how they break the commandment to honor their father and mother by keeping their tradition and also teach that doctrine of man as holy doctrine. Like you said they knew the law yet they ignored it to keep their own made up traditions. So this shows that Jesus didn't see their righteousness as the level they claimed it to be at. Therefore they were being hypocritical. And Jesus constantly pointed this out. An easy example of this today, Duet 25. Today people would say that the Sundry laws are bad or wrong (if a man dies and didn't produce seed, it is a brothers duty to take the wife of his brother and raise up seed in the name of the deceased brother) yet the bible says it's dishonorable not to take your brother's wife. And even goes as far as saying it would bring shame on the man's house if he didn't do that duty. To Jesus that is righteous according to the law but today we'd be told that's weird or be given reasons why it's bad. Just because someone calls himself a church leader doesn't mean they truly have a high level of righteousness. It seems to me many use the Pharisees as a way to call someone a heretic or hypocrite when they say you should uphold and do the laws and commands of God. When that's literally the opposite of what said. It's almost like indirectly calling Jesus a hypocrite because he said the same thing. Mat 5:19.
Thank you, wow, I was quite a lot into listening to him about 6 years ago, and I believed that, but reading the book of Romans over and over again led me out of that deception. Thank God, I never believed I was saved then, but I know I am saved now.

Hi, Corey. I teach and believe that obedience to God is of utmost importance for believers. We are to submit to His authority over our lives. Jesus said, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments” (John 14:15). And I’m sure you would agree that not every command God has given applies to every person at all times. Some only apply to certain people (i.e., men, women, parents, Levitical priests) or at certain times (i.e., building an ark, gathering manna, while in exile). And I’m sure you would also agree that we are each only expected to keep the commands of God that apply to us. The NT expressly teaches that many of the commands given under the Old Covenant Law do not apply to Christians today. (ex. Repeated blood sacrifices for sin are no longer required (Heb 10:18).) We still serve God and obey His commands, “But now we are released from the law, having died with Christ to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code” (Rom 7:6). And “If you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law: (Gal. 5:18). Blessings, RLS
All I know is that Jesus said to repent and pursue holiness. If you're not following the ten commandments you're a lawless person, a worker of iniquity and one who is right in their own eyes, self-righteous you are. Repent and believe. May God bless you with understanding.
Hi, Eric! The 10 Commandments all apply to Christians in a new covenant context. If you think about it, 9 of the 10 Commandments are repeated and re-taught in the New Testament. The Sabbath command is not, but that doesn’t mean it’s obsolete. We’re not required to keep the seventh-day Sabbath as it was given to the ancient Israelites in the Law of Moses. (For example, neither animal sacrifices nor the death penalty are required.) I believe that, because of the death and resurrection of Christ, the focus of the Sabbath command has shifted to maintaining a daily heart posture of dependence on God and finding rest in Christ’s finished work (Rom. 14:5-6; Col. 2:16-17; Heb 4:1-11.) And more than that, I believe the principle behind the Sabbath command is still to be kept as a wise spiritual discipline: setting aside a regular time of rest to remember, thank, and worship God and be with family. Blessings, Rob
@TheBiblicalRoots Amen brother. God searches for truth on the inward parts of men. I'm not talking about sinless perfection but intent. Perfection won't be possible until we get our new bodies of course, but we still must try. God bless our own merciful mediator Jesus Christ who justifies us. Later.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Which then reminds me of this verse II Peters 3:16 as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. 17You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. 18But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

Was Christ a Christian? Did Jesus start Christianity? Weren't the first Christians Jews under the law? Some see the apostate church and think that's Christianity. Wolves in government run buildings is not the body of Christ. I confused a Muslim when I said, Islam, Catholicism, and Judaism are all state run religions.
The thing is, trusting in Jesus for salvation based on the mercy and grace of Yahweh alone fits the model already well established in the history of Israel. Over and over and over again we see how obedience to the voice of God alone leads to salvation and deliverance. They’re no better than Moses who struck the rock for water when God didn’t tell him to.
So so so many supposed Christians do not know the difference between the Mosaic Covenant and the New Covenant nor the Laws and the Commands. The OC (also known as the Mosaic Covenant) was mediated by Moses and kept by performing the Law ( Moses the Mediator - Exodus 20:18-23 and Galatians 3:19. OC must be performed - Deuteronomy 4:13). The New Covenant was mediated by Jesus and kept by faith (Jesus the mediator - Luke 22:20 and Hebrews 9:15; Hebrews 12:24. The NC must be believed and kept by faith -John 6:40,47 and John 8:24) The Laws of the OC that must be performed are the Ten Commandments - Deuteronomy 4:13. The Commands of Jesus are every word out of His mouth - Deuteronomy 18:18,19 which can be condensed to believe in Jesus and love one another - 1 John 3:23)
I now understand the misconception many in and against Biblical Roots have. This teaching from Rabbi Berkson was bad, but also taken out of context slightly. Given the benefit of the doubt in the whole video he is saying we can't be saved without being changed in our hearts, which will be evident like a tree bearing fruit. He did a bad job, but I think it's best to give him grace of benefit of the doubt. I didn't watch the longer teaching. Hopefully Solberg did. Indeed, we are only justified by faith in Yeshua. But the whole Law is Good. Rom 7:12. We should be able to look at any commandment given by God at any time and understand it's value or at least accept that it has value. The Law points out our condemnation. We can't do it, so we need a Savior. But since we can't do it, it doesn't me we should not strive to improve. Rom 6:1 Case in point: clean animals (way back in Gen). Maybe eating bats and pigs isn't good for us. We understand with bats, but we love our pig. We are told it's healthy, but doctors also said seed and canola oil was healthy. Now are learning otherwise. So maybe we can just trust He knows more than us and wants us in good health. 3 John 1:2 Old studies that are buried showed eating pork had a correlation with reduced math competency. Maybe there is a reason Israel has all the best technology. There's not enough money/interest to fund these studies and have solid proof, but it's worth considering. The biblical feasts are about God and His timeline. They remind us of His sacrifice and point to His return. Why exchange that for symbols rooted in pagan lore? Why a tree that we throw to the curb once we've used it up and put in a woodchipper? What does it have to do with Christ? We, like the Israelites, drag our junk in. 2 Kings 17. Does doing these things negate salvation? No. But for those who teach these practices and against the Law as the gold standard (Sukkot for example, which is literally the celebration of Jesus ruling on Earth) I worry are those who will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. Matt 5:19 We don't get to condemn others, and we can't earn anything, but we can follow Jesus. He kept the feasts, the Sabbath and ate clean. He loved the Father and His neighbor. For anyone who wants to do all of these things, there is no condemnation. If you don't do them, you are not missing out on salvation, but you are missing out many wonderful blessings available to you (Sabbath was made for the man, ect). Of course there's a point of "not doing" when it becomes a fatal heart condition. No human can say where that line is. That is why it says do not judge. Matt 7:1. We are to judge what's right and wrong, (1 Cor 6:1-2) but we can't judge a man's heart, only God can.
If I understand you correctly, you don't seem to believe the Words that came out of the mouth of Yeshua (Jesus) Yeshua said He didn't come to do away with the Law, is the true or false? In fact, after that in Matthew 5:19 He says "Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Did Jesus tell the truth here? Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Matthew 7:23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’ Are you saying Jesus lies? how about John 14:15 “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. James 2:14-17 What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? 17 Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself. Romans 2:13 "for it is not the hearers of the Law who are just before God, but the doers of the Law will be justified." If all these verses found in the Bible are true, then Berkson is not the one that looks ands sounds like the false prophet here.
Isaiah 44:22 “ I have swept away your offensives like a cloud, your sins like a morning mist. Return to me for I have redeemed you.” - God. While I have never been an escaped Hebrew slave born under an obligation to practice Hebrew rituals I’m a sinner and guilty of breaking God’s law that has always been his law- be holy and perfect as God is perfect. Adam and Eve failed and so has every human. God’s moral law existed long before Mount Horeb. I have been redeemed from the curse of sin and the results bring eternal hell. All redeemed saints have had their indebtedness nailed to a tree at Calvary. It wasn’t the law of Moses nailed to the cross; it was man’s sin, or more precisely, man’s debt because of his sin.
Do you know what righteousness mean? To Do what is right, right? Even to believe, is something you do, but by the way to take an eight minute snippet of of a 23 part series of over 30 hours and building a case against someone is rediculous, don't you think? I would say you have a right to form a conclusion ONLY if you watched the entire topic, don't you think? Professor?
Yikes. If i were going to pretend that some work was connected to spiritual salvation, wearing a fringe or avoiding pork wouldn't get mentioned 😂. That's the easy stuff
Genesis 26:5 (KJV) Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. Abraham showed his faith by his willingness to sacrifice his son . We prove our faith by doing the works of GOD as Abraham did . We want to claim the blessings of Abraham but fail to do as Abraham did .

Where did Jesus say He came so now we can disregard what He says?

The quintessential definition of grace is unmerited favor.
If one believes the law Giver (Jesus) they will do what He says. There is about 170 of those laws that apply to most men.
That’s true, but how do you show love for God and your neighbour unless by keeping the commandments?
There are moral laws that were known before Moses, and that will always exist. Most of those 613 were to set Israel apart and to govern the country.

Yes you quoted Ephesians 2:8-9 now read verse 10.

Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears."
~ Acts 20 : 30ff

My brother follows Steve berkson and is told not to listen to any Christian pastor period.
The reality is that most Christians don't fact check the doctrines taught in their churches. Pastors don't usually encourage to fact check. Sometimes they might say to check your bible but I never heard of any pastor who tells their congregation to learn Hebrew or consult Rabbis who know Hebrew so they can really fact-check because they know that once you do this you will become a problem for them.
because what hes saying to true. and that bible is the best version you should get one.
When I hear such claims (that salvation = grace + works), I immediately want to ask several questions:
1) How many works, and which ones, do I have to do to earn my salvation? Please give me a list of them and the criteria for measuring them from the Bible. The only unambiguous and terrifying criterion I found is "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect."
2) What about a single failure/sin in my life, even after repentance? Does it count somehow, curse me, or what? What will be the mathematical formula of my accordance on the scales of the highest court in the end?
3) What works were done by the thief on the cross to whom Jesus said, "Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise"? Are these the same amount and type of works that should be done according to the answer to the first question? If yes, I can tell the list of works is quite short 😅. If no, it means Jesus lied to this man.
1) Which ones? Read the front of the book.. The way Jesus/Apostles/Paul tells others to do.
2) Reflect and read Paul's letters to the Ephesians and Galatians, moreover 1 John and James
3) If he was an Israelite is it possible he had a repentant heart - a contrite heart? He may have understood breaking the law and justice is how the world works. [all we can do is speculate]
You're saved when you repent and believe in Yahushua. Look up: Eliyah Ministries, Saved by a Faith that Works
Proverbs 24:16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
MTOI never teaches this. Have any of you ever even listened to the teachings. Maybe you should.
It's not difficult. When you sin, just repent. If you stole, do restitution as much as you can. If you sinned against your brother, go to him and apologise. The sinner on the cross was justified because he sincerely repented and it was demonstrated by him defending Jesus, which is a good work.
Salvation is not a one time done deal thing.

True faith naturally produces good works, but good works don't produce saving grace. That's what Jesus was talking about when he called the religious leaders of his day "Whitewashed tombs full of dead men's bones."
🎯
@@genestudniskisr2658 yes, exactly. Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees. Now it’s the clergy with their man made traditions.

Berkson.
Is Paul in your eyes foolish because he tells us in Romans 3:31 to establish the Law.

But for now....
May God bless you on your quest for the truth!
Thank you for sharing your experience and your thoughtful comments, watchman.
Blessings! Rob

So you think a person can believe in Christ and not obey his commands and be saved?@@antonkoivisto2999
You're absolutely right! Paul uses that phrase as a point of distinction, because he knows that there are works of faith that bring about a justifying faith and reward - as James points out. We see the admonishing and Acts 21 starting at around 19.
We also see it concerning the circumcision argument where James orders gentiles to learn at the synagogues where they would learn the law of God.
The twisting comes from gentiles understanding of a Jewish religion and mixing their old religion and cultures to the Bible

25 "But concerning the Gentiles who believe, we have written [and] decided that they should observe no such thing, except that they should keep themselves from [things] offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality."
See that? It was decided that the GENTILES who believe, "...they should observe no such thing..."

[22] What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come. @@dmoffitt1914 An interesting reply to Phillipians 2:13. This verse is not contrary to Hebrews 11 nor James. I just know the difference between religious works of the flesh and works born of faith. Where does Scripture say that Scripture is our ultimate authority, professor? Have you ever tested this teaching?
The heavens declare the glory of God, but Scripture declares His glory and His Words. The Bible attests to its own authority to rule creation by declaring itself the divine Word of God (Psalm 19:1; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21).
I love it, Billy! Great question. If we believe in Jesus, the only place we find His story and His words is in the NT. And the NT says, "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work" (2 Tim. 3:16-17)
"Scripture" to Jesus and the NT authors almost always refers to what we call the OT. (The one exception is 2 Peter 3:16, where Paul's letters are referred to as Scripture.) So if we believe in Jesus, we have to accept the authority of the OT. Jesus accepted, endorsed, and taught from Scripture many times. For example, "Then he said to them, 'These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.' Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures" (Luke 24:44-45)
So if any person teaches something that contradicts Scripture, I have to side with Scripture on that issue. It is of higher authority than the opinion of any man.
Blessings, Rob

is this interpretation im having wrong?
Jesus opened up the veil to everyone 🙏 🙌
So is he saying that if Jesus never died, we couldn't be saved no matter how good we were?
I have a friend that is getting into some of this type of stuff with her husband and im not sure how to even approach it.
Yeah, he's teaching that because Jesus died, He made salvation available. If He never died, we couldn't be saved no matter what. So that idea, on its own, is biblical. Where he gets into trouble is when he starts teaching how we "earn" the salvation that Jesus made available.

Yes, out of love and gratitude we serve and obey the Law of Christ. What do you mean by “required?”
Well you're minutes in and I can't understand anything he is trying say.
Yes...the confusion is real.
1 Corinthians 14:33
King James Version
33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
Yes but you cannot sow in the Spirit if you are still sowing from the flesh. Galatians is all about the difference.
Exactly Ed. That's why I brought up Galations.
Grace is not just about our forgiveness of past, present and future sins (as in sinning- verb-action of iniquity. )
But grace also includes our flesh dying to sin so that sin may no longer be our master.

Thank you for the detailed and informative response.
Clearly. Here it is:
Evidence of Genuine Faith Through Works:
1. James 2:14-26
"What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."
Matthew 7:21
"Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven."
1 John 3:17-18
"But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth."
Warnings Against Lukewarmness:
Revelation 3:15-16
"I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth."
Matthew 7:19
"Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire."
Luke 6:46
"But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do the things which I say?"
2 Timothy 3:5
"Having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!"
Challenges for the Wealthy: it is not enough to "just believe in Christ" and be rich. It takes transformational change.
Mark 10:23-25
"Then Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, 'How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!' And the disciples were astonished at His words. But Jesus answered again and said to them, 'Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.'"
1 Timothy 6:9-10
"But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."
Matthew 25:28-30
"Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

Thank you for sharing that!

Thank you for this I too was almost lulled into his videos while searching for more info on the Torah
Why in Luke 2:40 did Jesus need Grace from his father, If grace is unmerited favour?
Luke 2:40 KJVS -
40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.
@@TheBiblicalRoots yes Jesus did merited favour that’s the wisdom part.
@@JJ-Misch merit means "the quality of being good and deserving praise."
Now i find that nowhere in the new testament are we commanded to build alters or church buildings.
Seriously.
Shalom.

Thank you so much brother 🙏
The danger in these types of teachings that the Rabbi makes is that they appeal to our nature of getting things done and the truth of relying in the Holy Spirit is completely foreign to humanity
Relying on someone else to be able to do something does not make sense
Look I am in total agreement with you but what I am saying is that without careful study and proper understanding of our faith some of us who believe in grace find our self living out works based salvation
Motivating our self’s to love
And so on …
Is work done for the benefit of oneself not of a different nature than work done for the benefit of another/others?
Mat 5:19.
Your are WRONG...Stop following Paul over Christ.
Thank you, wow, I was quite a lot into listening to him about 6 years ago, and I believed that, but reading the book of Romans over and over again led me out of that deception. Thank God, I never believed I was saved then, but I know I am saved now.
From Google: "What is ISR in the Bible?
The Institute for Scriptural Research (ISR), located in the Republic of South Africa, uses the terms Pre-Messianic Scriptures for the Old Covenant and Messianic Scriptures for the New Covenant. Institute for Scriptural Research (1998) [Tyndale House, Cambridge, United Kingdom]"
why can works and faith work together instead of tearing us apart
Wow. When he said “just go in the lake”…. That was heartless.
Yes, because there is no love. Love is a fruit of the Spirit, not of the law.
@@toddott633 yeah. No love at all. We’re supposed to walk the commandments in love.
Ive visited and listened to his teachings. SPIRIT is grieved by the hatred in his heart, control, meanness, narcissistic, condescending...it doesnt stop. My daughter will defer to his counsel over that of the Lord Himself. She shall be free according to Proverbs 11:21
21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
Are you saying that we don’t have to make sure that we don’t sin? Aren’t we not responsible for not sinning?
Poised and confident can be egotistical and self important.
Blessings,
Rob
@TheBiblicalRoots Amen brother. God searches for truth on the inward parts of men. I'm not talking about sinless perfection but intent. Perfection won't be possible until we get our new bodies of course, but we still must try. God bless our own merciful mediator Jesus Christ who justifies us. Later.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Ephesians 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Reminds me of this verse: Titus 1:10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:
Which then reminds me of this verse II Peters 3:16 as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. 17You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. 18But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
"Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears."
~ Acts 20 : 30
Yes .. saved by Grace .. and because we are now saved .. we are filled with the Holy Set Apart Spirit.. to bring forth good fruit .. great works of Light to bring Glory to Our Yah Father and His son, Yahusha .. ❤
James 2 :14 Is the same meaning in every translation. What translation do you use?
1 Peter 1:5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
The NC must be believed and kept by faith -John 6:40,47 and John 8:24)
The Laws of the OC that must be performed are the Ten Commandments - Deuteronomy 4:13.
Rom 6:1
Case in point: clean animals (way back in Gen).
Genesis 26:5 (KJV)
Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
Abraham showed his faith by his willingness to sacrifice his son .
We prove our faith by doing the works of GOD as Abraham did .
We want to claim the blessings of Abraham but fail to do as Abraham did .
