Low volume can focus on performance products or specialty custom made stuff but can share most parts using the mass produce models. Hey this is how you could attract more loyal customer and retain the old one too. Grab more market share.

The third generation looked like crap. It's no wonder it sold terribly. RIP Honda Fit. Your reality-bending interior volume will be sorely missed.
Sounds like what happened with the Element. They never refreshed it, so of course it sold terribly toward the end. Despite being fairly cool, it was long overdue for a redesign when sales dropped.

That car sucked for a Toyota. It was way better than any straight up GM vehicle, but disappointed me to no end since I grew up with made-in-Japan Toyotas. I heard about horrible issues with NUMMI Corollas from other owner's too, things that would never happen on actual Toyotas.
I live in Mexico, I love my Honda Fit, but in the United States people don't like small cars like Honda Fit, they don't like cars with only 2 doors like Honda Civic coupe, and don't like manual transmission like Honda Accord, for me it is normal that Honda USA will kill off these cars

I will miss the Fit. I thought it was really cool. I was seriously interested when the latest gen came out but it was just a tad too small. I guess too many others felt the same way and chose the HR-V instead.
Really? As opposed to a welded differential CVT? Good luck getting the car to move ha. I’d wager a limited slip differential on a manual is more beneficial then any non-serviceable transmission. But yeah you keep using your welded diff.
Fuuuu. I was so sad when they got rid of the Accord coupe. I still got my 2010 v6. I love how the front of the new accord looks like... I was really considering buying the coupe version but they didn't make it :/

I bought a new 2020 Civic Coupe EX as soon as I saw the 2022 Civic early release photos. I believe that the Gen X design inspires visions of excitement, while the 2022 inspires visions of napping at a Interstate Rest Stop. Looking forward to the Gen Xll before I teade. If that Gen Xll continues to look like the current Gen Xll, then there's the future Corolla Hatch, or Mazda 3.
F@#$$ honda killed themself. Just look how awesome the civic coupe concept was then the production? Honda and Acura since the late 90's had been designed by a bunch of amateurs.
As a Toyota salesperson, seeing a Yaris on the lot is a rarity. We try not to stock Yaris because they don’t sell. We still have one Yaris that’s been sitting on the lot for months while being looked at maybe twice whereas Corollas sell like hot cakes.
The pricing should now get to back where it needs to be! When I was a teenager In the 90s, you either got a Honda Accord, civic or prelude. If you didn’t want to spend the money then you got a DX model or last years model. I miss my 92 accord Lx
I'm sad that the Civic coupe won't sell in the US anymore (especially due to its influence in automobile import tuner pop culture (and unfortunately ricers too)), and not so many markets sell the Civic coupe as well as the fit (since my 1st car I've ever driven is a Honda fit....
Love to see how they go about designing the next gen vehicles. The new Acura looks absolutely beautiful so I have a lot of hope they will do the civic right.
Damn, I would've loved a Fit Si based on the brand new Japanese Fit...hopefully the next generation HRV will be similar and will come in an Si flavor. Also, Fit sales were not helped by the fact of how dated the interior and powertrain was. I'd like to think the new generation Fit would've done alright here in the US.
This is a great time to get the last gen on these vehicles with manual transmissions. I have a 19 fit and I love it, I won't look forward to buy the CUV/SUV trend.
I sell Honda cars for living. I like this move, very bold! I have sold probably 2 or 4 Civic Coupes and Fits combined for the past 6-8 months combined. I understand the corporate decision to discontinue the production!
Thought about getting a Fit but sucks that market here isn't well beloved. Its popular in city areas on Canada though, but if America isn't getting it than Canada won't.
Sad to admit it, but me and alot of other people that grew up with Honda and having their first car be a 89 Honda CRX as a first car in high school during the 90's have now in their adult lives slowly grow to appreciate what Toyota has done in the past 5 years with redesigns and so forth switch to appreciating the Carolla/Camry/Rav-4 combo of vehicles. My next vehicle will be one of those three. And doesn't have to be brand new. Just as long as its within the last 3-4 years.
The Fit is reselling for really high: 2017 models selling for 14k, (that’s a depreciation of only about $1k per year!) I’d wager it’s bigger on the used market than new so I see how it got discontinued.

Just like with the accord they are letting 10000'_30000 sales go bye bye meanwhile their hybrids sale way slower. A sad day for coupes Honda is being a follower instead of using their talent to make coupes better more desirable and to give them a few unique features they simply give up. No s2000 no prelude no accord and now no civic coupe what a boring line up with nothing unique. And no manual accord because it was only available in one form that not everyone wanted. I guess hatchbackers get an si now. They could not even let it finish out its model run.

Honda and Gm? Oh my God please let this not be a disaster! I like honda!
I work for Honda Mfg. & it makes me nervous as an associate!!
Why? Gm are good cars just fanboys don’t understand
I'm tired of the car brand collaborations if I wanted a GM I would go to GM if I want a Honda I go to Honda.
Really good Honda news update! I’m a subscriber & look forward to more Japanese news and info 👍👍
I subscribed to your channel a couple weeks back! Keep up the good work 👌
Search for Honda Content and I find Jason in the comment! haha ! Hey Kirk Really enjoy this man! Keep it up!
I feel like Toyota and Honda both decided to trade cars when it came to the CHR and HRV lol.
Thanks for this news report, Kirk.
I agree id like my Honda's to be Honda's, Toyotas' to be Toyotas. I also see where the market is going with all the brands partnering up. Aye...what a world.
Car companies have been partnering up for decades. Its nothing new in the car industry and its never going away.
Let's hope that the engineers from Hitachi can be involved in the Honda-GM models to neutralize the negative effect that GM may have on quality
Honda built by GM? My Accord-Sport 2.0-T 6-spd is my third Honda. Born in Detroit and worked on the Ford & GM assembly lines in my youth. I will never buy a car built by the UAW...I know how they make the sausage. If they move production to a 'right to work state' I may consider it.
How do you like the manual in the Accord?
MI already became right to work 7 years ago.
Dan Carlton - doesn’t matter if you have a union contract that gives you a right to arbitration .
Worked as a contractor myself at several GM plants. All I can say is look the hell out!!! And stay away from ANYTHING built or designed by GM!!!
The Fit/Jazz was too sensible of a car for the USA market to appreciate.
Safe to say the Prelude wont be coming back? :) They should bring back a cheap, small sporty car (crx)
Loved both my 92 si and my 98 prelude...and even though I wouldn’t be able to afford a new one...I would love to see a new Prelude. I should have never sold my 92...and all because I wanted a custom Ruckus, I regret it now. I doubt I’ll ever part with my 09 civic si sedan or my 95 integra sedan because you just will never see them made like this again...smaller, sporty, reliable, unique, and those oh so satisfying high revs🥰
no because SUV
They tried that. CRZ BOMBED. I almost got one but I ended up with civic coupe for the back seats. It was a killer deal that dealer was gonna let it go for 14k brand new.
Yes and naturally aspirated!
@@CaptainTexas92 The CR-Z was supposed to be the rebirth of the CR-X. The problem with that was the hybrid tech, the enthusiasts weren't on board with it at the time. Then add the fact that it was too small.
I just got a 2019 Honda Fit EX (after having a Civic) and it’s my favorite car ever, I’m really sad I won’t be able to upgrade to one when the time is right.
Usually people go up to a civic, not down to a fit. But I can understand why. I want a fit too :(
Honda must have lost their mind partnering with GM. Honda will lose my loyalty the moment GM makes their vehicles, it's just awful awful decision by Honda.
Should of seen this coming when Toyota partnered with BMW to make the supra, kia and Hyundai are gonna scoop the market left by these once great companies
Why gm is a top class race cars u can’t bring any Honda close to any gm vehicle and don’t bring this fanboy shit I own a 2011 Camaro ss and a Honda Civic they are my fav both companies
Yeah I'll be avoiding any sort of GM made Honda too.
But I think what's happening here is that Honda is using GM for their electric vehicle technology. Unfortunately when it comes to electric Honda has been behind the times, their Clarity is good but not the best and where other companies have been putting a bunch of R&D into electric, Honda has not. It wouldn't surprise me if Honda is just doing this now to get some sort of foothold into the electric market as they develop their own solution.
@@MannyDelReal the 2.0t sport accord 4doors is .5 seconds slower than a v6 camaro. Yes theyre close. Acura HONDA NSX can race a corvette or camaro too hahah
Our 2016 Fit has been a great local driver. Always thought I'd buy another. Sad to see it go.
Oil dilution, ac compressor failures and transmission problems weren’t enough? Now they want to add GM to the mix??!!
Looks like Ford ,Chevy ,Lexus, and dodge are going to be running the show for now on when it comes to coupes/ sporty coupes. Idk what's going on in Honda. I wish they would bring back the accord coupe and prelude.
I never owned a Fit but always wanted one. I owned a first gen CRX.
I also had a 1990 Accord coup standard brand new. I put 380,000 on it in nine years.
Honda made bulletproof, indestructible vehicles from the mid-80s to the late 90s.
@@JJ-ls7fq Right. I still have a 97 Honda Civic with 535,000 miles. I have been planning for a while to get an SI coupe, but the 97 just keeps going.
I owned a first gen CRX Si and now have a Honda Fit. The Fit is fun to drive if you push it. Reminds me of the CRX.
@@Hoodoohopper wow, that's amazing! Is it the original engine and transmission? Is it a manual?
@@JJ-ls7fq Original engine, new transmission. Manual. New paint job. Has not seen the mechanic in the past year. 😁
GM making Hondas, good job following the Nissan strategy, they will soon be dead if they do.
Should minimize car models, keep surviving in the markets for long term.
@Kekistani Refugee The Civic Coupe is the last affordable coupe. The Civic Coupe's conpetition (Kia Forte Koup, Scion TC, Hyundai Elantra Coupe, etc.) have been discontinued years before this.
If they're only using the civics only nah not everybody wants a 180 -200 hp (small) car
There was an Elantra Coupe?
@@doyallsellcrablegs yes, back in the early 2010s
They could consolidate the low volume products in one special factory while those bean counter vanilla products at the rest of the factories. Low volume can focus on performance products or specialty custom made stuff but can share most parts using the mass produce models. Hey this is how you could attract more loyal customer and retain the old one too. Grab more market share.
Can you imagine how much quieter the world be with all electric vehicles?
And just as boring as fuck to drive... I need some noise in my cars in order to feel alive.
@@haaxxx9 haha do they not have radios?
The Fit sits taller than the Civic. It drives better than the HR-V.
Maybe the latest model's design was just a complete dud. The first and second generations were cute and awesome.
So much for the Accord Type-R rumors since Honda is getting rid of the manual for that car smh.
Just bought my 2018 civic coupe with only 9k miles in rallye red. I absolutely love it, it’s my baby. I’ve had a 2003 accord, 2014 civic and they’ve all been a blast. Sad to see them discontinuing the coupes but it makes sense business wise I guess. Glad I was able to snag one... they’re surprisingly hard to come by.
I LOVE LOVE my Honda coupe. That sexy green and the look. I’m in love with my car. I’ll be happy to keep it forever :)
And the way the manual clicks into gear too
I have that same car! I have a 2017 Honda civic coupe touring lime green color and I love it 🙌🏻
bro, i work at factory a supplier from honda civic we finish this morning about 150 pcs car seat for the civic S.I and coupe that last build up, only civic line up only. we faceout them, but we have a new model car seat and we start to training for that for now
I love my Fit. A very underappreciated model. I was hoping to buy another when the new one was available. Guess I'll have to keep this one forever.
I was looking to buy a new Fit after we paid off our Versa Note. They have similar dimensions and I’ve been impressed with owning this type of hatchback compact car. However, with Nissan discontinuing the Note in the US, I was hoping I’d have an alternative with the Fit.
Dammit Honda. You really dropped the ball here.
The only good gm partnership that happened decades ago was the Chevy / geo prism, aka the Toyota corolla
Chip B i forgot about the matrix and the vibe partnership. Gm rebadging a Toyota was definitely a smart move on their part because hey. Under the skin it’s a Toyota. It’ll last forever
The Chevy Nova/Geo Prizm production was run by Toyota and they had to fix a lot of issues at the Fremont plant, which I think is now owned by Tesla. The Geo Metro was built by Suzuki.
My mother bought a brand new prizm recommended by me a year later she comes out of Boston chicken and see’s flames 15 feet high rolling out of her car catching a tree on fire as well, she bought a civic after that and driving home from the dealership the engine light came on and that’s the only problem she ever had with it
That car sucked for a Toyota.
I think Fit's were made in Mexico or Japan.

So many plans. Got a right hand drive front clip in the barn, just need to get a new daily.
I am an older Honda modifying kind of guy so this is definitely not the right channel. Lol
Honda should fire its entire design department; its cars range from plain to totally hideous.
Get the guy that made the new Ridgeline doing designs. That person turned a ugly children's drawing into a sharp fake truck.
Sadly SO true...I will probably never buy another Honda, and just keep my CRX as a sunday driver.
Great content! 👍 I hope Honda doesn’t make bad EV vehicles with GM. I don’t like GM 😂
I got a manual 2.0 accord, sad to see no more production
Anyone please, need answers. Bought a 2019 civic sport coupe 2 weeks ago. What does this do to me. No parts manufactured? Does this absolutely screw me.
I will miss the Fit. I thought it was really cool. I was seriously interested when the latest gen came out but it was just a tad too small. I guess too many others felt the same way and chose the HR-V instead.
I've been living under a rock. What's this I'm hearing about Honda and Gm partnership?
We bought a 2019 Fit Sport in white...so cool looking! Sooooo fun to drive!
As long as Honda keeps using CVTs, I'll never buy another one again.
Honda’s cvts are actually way better than a lsd tho
Really? As opposed to a welded differential CVT? Good luck getting the car to move ha.
I’d wager a limited slip differential on a manual is more beneficial then any non-serviceable transmission. But yeah you keep using your welded diff.
Toyota switched to CVT too.
Honda actually bought some of there old cars back that had cvts in it to see what problems they had at high mileage and they didn’t have any problems
Anil Baksh Toyota still offers an 8 speed transmission in their larger vehicles.
Fuuuu. I was so sad when they got rid of the Accord coupe. I still got my 2010 v6. I love how the front of the new accord looks like... I was really considering buying the coupe version but they didn't make it :/
Thanks for all the Honda news. There used to be a Pro Honda guy that did that but he is focusing on high performance Honda stuff now I guess.
My pleasure Ken!
Hyundai and Kia watching this like 😈
Mrnick98 thats way i own a Hyundai it has been more reliable than any other car
As a Civic X coupe owner, it’s sad to hear they discontinued the coupes.
Is it just me or dose revamping the Honda prelude as fully electronic would be pretty dope
I would prefer that to be a dct if there's no manual. That or an electric American variant of the s660
Incredibly sad to hear. I love my Honda fit. It does EVERYTHING I need a daily driver to do, it gets 38 to 48 mpg barely trying. It saves me soooooo much money that I can then put into my race car or classic.
Shame.
I'm a 1992 accord ex manual owner this hurts to hear 🤧😭😭😭😭
Chocolate Chiclid had one growing up. From a small child to an adult. Just laid to rest last year with 500,000kms. Excellent car.
Does the Honda CR-V still have an oil dilution problem or has that been fixed on the 2020 model?
You failed to mention the best news from Honda - the Element is making a comeback! ! !
That would be awesome.
F@#$$ honda killed themself. Just look how awesome the civic coupe concept was then the production? Honda and Acura since the late 90's had been designed by a bunch of amateurs.
The Civic Coupe was from 1993-2020 btw, not 1987 as the title suggested
As a Toyota salesperson, seeing a Yaris on the lot is a rarity. We try not to stock Yaris because they don’t sell. We still have one Yaris that’s been sitting on the lot for months while being looked at maybe twice whereas Corollas sell like hot cakes.
Finding a manual Honda near CO, UT, or ID is like finding gold. I gave up on Honda years ago.
Any idea when the Element will be released?
The pricing should now get to back where it needs to be!
When I was a teenager In the 90s, you either got a Honda Accord, civic or prelude. If you didn’t want to spend the money then you got a DX model or last years model.
I miss my 92 accord Lx
I'm sad that the Civic coupe won't sell in the US anymore (especially due to its influence in automobile import tuner pop culture (and unfortunately ricers too)), and not so many markets sell the Civic coupe as well as the fit (since my 1st car I've ever driven is a Honda fit....
Glad I got my type R as a FWD MT before it becomes some hybrid auto thing.
I guess I'm keeping my 08 Civic EXL Coupe till the very end. My first new car
This is a great time to get the last gen on these vehicles with manual transmissions. I have a 19 fit and I love it, I won't look forward to buy the CUV/SUV trend.
Honda Japan : "Civic is dead its too big"
Honda America : "Fit is dead nobody buy them"
Honda Everest is best looking electric vehicle
Really I like the fit and the coupe’s COME ON HONDA LORD YOURE CHANGING SO MUCH
What about the 2021 honda element?
I sell Honda cars for living. I like this move, very bold! I have sold probably 2 or 4 Civic Coupes and Fits combined for the past 6-8 months combined. I understand the corporate decision to discontinue the production!
Thought about getting a Fit but sucks that market here isn't well beloved. Its popular in city areas on Canada though, but if America isn't getting it than Canada won't.
Will Honda axe the CVT for automatic transmission
Sad, but if this GM thing goes through I will be switching to another company.
Really cool video bro, new subscriber 👍some good information I have the 2019 Civic SI I've had an 8th gen 9th gen now the 10th gen love it sucks they're getting rid of it but I can't wait for the new generation.. thx again
Thanks for joining the fleet!
So now they are like every other company all sedans and suvs and trucks.
No affordable 2 door front drive coupe for singles retired and those that do not want 4 doors.
Honda lost my business. Was planning on a 2021 civic sport coupe with a 6 speed as I thought it's the last year for the 10th gen but nope. I'll keep my 15 Si coupe.
@@mikea5205 I'll keep my 8th gen so.
All are great but no turbo is more reliable.
Although I do envy that great gas mileage damper control superior handling and modern tech.
But mods can take care of some of that. I really wanted to upgrade to a type r coupe prelude sir coupe with the 2 liter.
Only thing is the last year I coupes but it's no faster than my 8th gen.
Yea the torque is cool but I'll take 8000 rpm vtec almost any day.
And better looks.
They need to make a cohoe similar to the 86. A small coupe with modern technology but is driver focused.
I am so sad to hear that Honda is discontinuing the Fit. My 2012 Fit has 150,000 miles on it. I was going to pass my Fit on to my teenage son and get myself a new Fit. Guess I will be doing that soon.😭
Time for a Corolla hybrid 😅
I like both of my favorite car companies working together
He says they did away with Fit but you can search on it for 2021.
One of the great advantages of the actual type r is the weight not so high... how much weight will be the hybrid package????? 500 pounds??? maybe more??
Really enjoyed the coupe’s taillights and sometimes wish it was standard on the sedan
I sell cars at a Honda dealer and it’s true, I barely sell fits and civic coupes but it will be sad to see it go, manual accords as well I love those but people just simply aren’t buying them anymore.
If you want a CIvic that's not a Type-R, is the only transmission choice a CVT now?
