    I actually had this car , 1965 6 cylinder. Had it for 20 years, sold it couple years ago for 20 k, it was a convertible though. Kinda wish I still had it, but only drove it about 200 miles a year, so figured someone else might as well have it. Did a lot to it through the years, was a beautiful car when I sold it.

    I had a Caspian Blue 65 Mustang hardtop with a 289 V-8 and C4 automatic transmission in decent shape in high school that ran pretty well. Cheers!😁👍🔧

    This car has very little rust compared to that red 66, making it a way better car. When a Mustang has the amount of rust on the quarter that your 66 has, it more than likely has frame and wheel well rusts. The hood on this 65 is a Ford service replacement part. That's why there's a part number and a manufacture date. These Mustangs are a bit more than just a rebodied Falcon. There isn't much inner sheet metal that is the same as on a Falcon. In fact the gauge cluster is even different from a Falcon. This 65 has lots of potential.

    • @DEADCARRESCUE
      @DEADCARRESCUE  9 месяцев назад +1

      The red one is almost perfect underneath. I saw nothing but good metal underneath. Got video of the underside coming up in another video. Go figure! Weird huh?

    Dad had a 65 with the six in it. It was a red one with the pony interior and it would melt the tires in the first two ears. God bless and stay happy old buddy!

      My Dad bought a slightly used 68 in 1970. 6 cylinder automatic and wide open it would run about 90. You had to pee under the tires to get it to spin.

    Unfortunately your never going to have the original transmission, but I think you really need to keep this car together, and at least give it some body work. Their isn't any 65 mustangs in production anymore. Your the keeper of this car, and the one who will decides if it survives into the future or not.

    The mustang is very closely related. The Falcon was a unit body car not a body on frame car. The front end sheet metal finders and hood as well as the front facia are all different than the falcon. All of the suspension components are shared between the to cars. Mustangs are five lug wheels and hubs and rear axel. Both cars share the same C4 automatic. The top on the mustang is almost the same as the Falcon futura ( a lower roof line and a hard top. If you count the freeze plugs in the block you can tell if it's a 170 or 200 thrift 6. The engine started out in 1960 as a 145 6 for the first falcon. When Ford created the Falcon van the engine became a 170. The 170 had a longer stroke than the 145. Later by mixing parts Ford created the 200 by swapping the van block with one more main bearing and a longer stroke with the larger boar of the 170 falcon block to make the 200. In Australia the was a 250 cid version with a cross flow head and a separate intake manifold. The US thrift 6 has the intake cast with the head. The thrift six stayed in production into the early 80's as a option for the Granada and the base engine for the Maverick.

    The alternator would indicate this to be a 1965 as the 1964 1/2 cars had generators. If the light on the dash says gen, and hasn't been changed, it Is 1964. That being said, sometimes model year changes were not consistent as new changes were put in earlier models because they ran out of parts and just put the upgraded parts in, and, vice versa. People were known to upgrade to alternators as a generator does not produce consistent power.

    I just wanted to.point out, your Mustang could be a 1964 1/2 not a 65. One sure way to tell is look in front of the battery at the radiator support metal piece in front if you see 4 open slots in front of the battery on this piece your mustang is a 64 if no slots its a 65.
